I’m a newcomer and just bought a set of g400’s , 6 to sand wedge with a utility in there , playing my first round on Sunday, can’t wait , they feel lovely
Glad to see you being so straight up and honesty about the clubs. A lot of reviews go on like the 425 is markedly better than the 410 and it seems to be splitting hairs. I just bought some new 410s in the stiff steel AWT shaft I couldn't even get G425s as none are available in leftys anyhow. I do like the look of both irons but for the marginal difference I have a hard time justifying the 25% higher price.
@@bonolee07 well funny enough I actually ordered PXG's and then ended up not being a big fan and got the G425 irons on a good trade in value. I have been liking them quite a lot. my entire bag is g425 at this point in time with an Evnroll ER2 putter. If you are looking for a forgiving iron can't go wrong swing em first of course!
Regripped my G400s (the stock grips were rubbish) and still love them. Tested them against other irons and even though the Callaway Apexes were longer the Pings were string straight and very easy to swing. Any of those models would work fine
I have the g400s. Theres a huge gap between the 6 and 5iron for me. About 30yds difference. I notice thet pop up high and land with no forward roll. Very different.
Had the g400's for a year now. Love them. Ball sticks to every green, that i get lucky and hit. Bought them with the alta graphite regular flex. Should I go with the steel shafts?.. hit my 7 about 155.
Those altas are pretty light and with the weight of the head it all depends on your swing speed but those certainly could feel rather whippy. I have stiff 410s with the AWT shaft.
@@Traplordsosa I have the pxg 0211's dualcor's now. They're amazing, and at a good price right now. Not getting rid of my ping metals anytime soon though..
@@Traplordsosa My father in law has the PXG 0811 XF GEN4 Driver and its a fairway finder. Its more forgiving on off-center hits than my g410 sft. and just as long. His pxg 5 hybrid is pretty good also. I like my 410 hybrid better though..
Nice Review. Hopefully, Golf Monthly will do irons comparison test among Ping G425 irons against all irons which have 30 degree loft on their iron #7. It will be a real apple to apple irons comparison test with different brand.
Do any of these clubs have the same problem as the Gmax and Gseries? I love my Ping Gmax iron set, very forgiving but the weight on my 4 iron fell out and I guess that’s a common occurrence with the max and series
Good review as always Joel, top content from Golf Monthly. I’m awaiting the G410’s being delivered after getting a custom fit in December. On first look, I have to say I feel I’ve made the right choice based on looks, for me the G410’s look like they have a bit more character (totally understand this is subjective). Can’t wait for courses to re-open and Golf to resume, all hopefully in time with the weather getting better.
If they're all pretty much the same performance wise, I guess the deciding vote for me would be on looks. I like the look of the G425 the best. Just a cleaner, classier look.
I’m not much on the loudness of them however they are solid iron I really like mine , just bought them getting back into golf. However a real solid club has good spin rate an holds greens really good even Bermuda greens , the smaller too line is a plus for me that being said the sound of these clubs are not as loud when you take some ground with them. Guess next step for me would be blades maybe blueprints forge. Nice video on these clubs.
Just picked up a mint used set of 410's. I do think the 425's look classier but the difference in performance was not enough to make me go for them over the 410's, saved some cash in the process!! What has convinced me to go for these over other brands is the ability to hold a green as shown in many of the reviews I've watched. I'm hoping they still retain the Ping durability reputation as I'm not planning on changing again for a while!
Great review, I played a lot as a junior and got away from golf for a lot of years and last summer got back into it and I'm in the market for a new set of irons and looking at the 410s for price reasons and by ur review doesn't seem worth paying for the new 425s
I can see a noticeable difference between the blade length of the G400 & G410 compared to the G425. Prior generations were too long & were off putting to me. I like the more compact look.
Very rare to get an unbiased opinion now- reviewers business get funds/free clubs from manufacturers or if don't give positive reviews then dont get clubs to review. G400 to G425 differences are marginal- get the cheaper ones.
I just picked up 410s with this in mind. that and as a lefty I can't even get 425s locally. If someone had a stiff set of 400s for sale used I woulda even went with those.
I really dont understand why things like this surprise people, their is literally only so much you can do with a piece of metal on the end of a stick, ping are good club makers but to see a difference you really need to put a ping zing against a modern incarnation, a 6 iron now is not a 6 iron from 20 years ago, lofts are stronger, faces arw thinner, its just all companies driving their economy saying something a year newer is literally going to hit the ball for you, its BS
400 was better feel and sound over 410 and appears same with 425, was hopping better feel and sound with distance of the 710s, darn, oh well keeping my 400s
Well you're man spoke more about g425 and g410 ??? What happened to the overall view of all three clubs lol hello you tested g400 to fella 🙄 basically g400 are really same as the rest ...... So save you're money keep ya g400 irons 👍🏻
I've found that previous versions of the PING G range of Irons looked too "chunky", but the latest G425 versions look as though they are a little bit smaller and as a result are visually more appealing.
Well, my answer here is just to put a new set of grips on my G400s.....
Yup - Me too. I was hoping he was gonna say these are so much better.

According to MFP, G425 (game improvement) are more difficult than G400 (super game improvment).
I got set of g400s a couple of months ago and I'm super happy with them ⛳

What sort of driver swing speed are u as I’m borderline on the AWT for reg/stiff and do fancy the G410s second hand

g400 range best including driver
I am keeping my G400 with Nippon tour 105 stiff shafts.

The simple answer basically is unless you’re a top golfer, you probably won’t recognise any difference whatsoever

Should have thrown the G710 into the mix!
Hard to tell in the video but it looks like the 425 head isn't as bulky as the 400.

What's the best way to work out your club distances accurately if you can't afford a trackman or anything like that

less talk more swings
