  • Tesla was never your typical car company. Afterall, it has always been unconventional and disruptive. But now it may not even be a car company at all. And maybe that's a good thing? To find out what's really going on, stick around as Dave Takes It On.

Went to check out a few BEV'S yesterday in my local car showroomthey were all terrible.
The staff didn't know anything about their 50k vehicles. None of the vehicles could charge very quickly it was a complete disaster. I sticking with my TESLA 😂

I am certainly not a Tesla fanboy, and test drove a model 3 and did not like it, but I still bought another make of EV, now my 3rd EV and am a convert.
Elon Musk however is a true entrepreneur and risk taker, he took his Paypal fortune and invested in Spacex, how risky can you get, and almost lost the lot, but eventually won out. Yes he is Marmite, but he gets things done.
I worked for a start up company, run by a serial risk taking entrepreneur, it was a roller coaster ride, I survived and loved it.

Considering Uncle Sam is giving him millions in tax breaks and is the principle client, I'd say only so risky. He even decided to go with Russian style kerosene based rockets, which pollute. The shuttle had a Hydrogen fuel tank. Tesla sales are generated largely by tax refunds to EV buyers. The first year they made a profit it was due to the Swedish tax breaks that let buyers not pay any taxes until what was owed became more than the price of the car, and that included rolling the balance over to the next year. He has chosen good companies to buy, but he has not come up with any ideas for a new company on his own.

It’s the reason I don’t have one as a company car as a Model 3 is about £150 a month more expensive than similarly priced cars on my scheme. When I queried this they said it’s partly due to the lack of discounts on Tesla’s but most of it is the high insurance rating.

I first bought a fair amount of Tesla shares October 2019 after watching a documentary about Tesla on a flight @ $2.55, I also bought £500 worth for my daughter and bought more spasmodically in subsequent years....I sold the vast majority of my acrued shares in November 21 @$361.81.
That sale allowed me to buy a "free" model 3.
I retained a small amount of shares, which dropped in value over the subsequent years ( due mainly to musks stupidity with his loose tongue).
I purchased a block more in May 23 @ $193.14. Its good to see they are now on the up again, so I will still continue investing modest amounts to see what it brings me in the future.
Patience & time can yeald great surprises!
I believe that Tesla are only just beginning on the upward slope to great things and astronomocal valuation.

Robots, self driving cars and AI to power it all are huge parts of our future, the giga batteries and clean grid to power it is another part of the puzzle. I look forward to the day my car can drive me and go to find somewhere to park up whilst I do an errand in the local town, with the car picking me up when I am ready. Tesla is a tech company that also sells cars and I like you see them as exciting.

I have long thought the same of Mr Musk's motives but disagree with the contention that Tesla will cease producing EVs.
I think, more likely, once Mr Musk has reaped the intellectual rewards he would like out of Tesla, he will sell his shares, by then worth a fortune and invest them straight into either SpaceX or a new company aligned with SpaceX's operation. Why?...
Because he wants an army of autonomous AI robots to go to Mars on the first few missions to establish a base there. They will have to build a base for accommodation and most of all: fuel synthesis plants to produce rocket fuel for return journeys. These robots will be vastly cheaper than training and paying astronaut engineers to do the job, never mind the cost of ensuring them because there's a very good chance they won't come back to their families!
He also knows full well that he will not get sufficient volunteers of humans with the right qualities to do the job because you wouldn't be in your right mind to volunteer for travelling in the spaceship for 9 months without any certainty of getting back! Anyone volunteering for these early trips would definitely not be in the right mind to be engineers and builders! They will be absolute crackpots! I predict he won't be sending significant numbers of humans up until there is a reliable shuttle transiting with reliable return trips.
That's why Mr musk wants AI autonomous control for very able robots. The production of electric vehicles and everything else in between is just the road to colonising Mars with a human outpost. QED.
