When I asked my Bhutanese guide why people are so happy here, he replied "In Western culture there is a big emphasis on 'becoming successful,' however you may die before you ever reach your desired level of success. Given that, why not focus on being with your loved ones, now?" Their society VALUES things differently to us; they have their priorities in order. We could learn from that. Money may perhaps be necessary for survival in the West, but that survival will not have been worth the effort if working for it came at the cost of connecting with the ones we love. Choose wisely.

I find it a baffling how our countries can be considered among the happiest, the long winter nights already would make me to conclude we are very depressed nations. Also the amount of anti depressants prescribed already points to that fact. Maybe the happiness is measured only during the summer. 😂
Its funny cause finland is also in the top 10 of most depressed countries in the world. I think this happiest country stuff is just bs. The netherlands has been "the happiest country" quite a few times but theres plenty of depressed people here

I cried watching this video because I'm so happy to see Buddhism being acknowledged in the western world. I am a Buddhist and I think it is such an underrated religion with full of wisdom and compassion. I absolutely know how Thomas felt when he said he had the most intense spiritual moment of his life. I have the same feelings when I go to the temples. Just by looking at the giant Buddha status, I feel the peace in my mind. I can "hear " Buddha telling me "NOTHING in this material world matters, let go of your ego and things that don't matter, and just be compassionate and everything is gonna be ok. You are home now" I cry almost every time I visit a temple, and this religion definitely helped me in many many ways. I really hope more people can get to know Buddhism and apply Buddhism philosophies in their lives. This world will be a better place with more compassionate and loving people.
@Aryan Malik All religions are great in their own context. Be it Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judiasm, Buddhism, etc. In the end it's kindness towards all sentient beings that all religions try to preach. It's just that some of the teachings got lost in translation due to differences between the mediators. That said, it's never wrong to keep learning about all religions and respect them. Cheers from Bhutan.

I’m all in awe. This vlog made me so emotional yet so satisfying, as it lead to the fact that we are not the happiest countries in the world but we do have the benefits that other countries don’t and that’s where we draw the line. I love this vlog not because this explains about my country but because of how its made with very down to earth intentions, and how praying in monastery made him feel real and was all collected with emotions. Enlightenment is real in my country, our king has that thing. We can never look up straight through but to bow down because respect comes naturally and not forcefully. I love you host. FACTS
When I asked my Bhutanese guide why people are so happy here, he replied "In Western culture there is a big emphasis on 'becoming successful,' however you may die before you ever reach your desired level of success. Given that, why not focus on being with your loved ones, now?"
Their society VALUES things differently to us; they have their priorities in order. We could learn from that. Money may perhaps be necessary for survival in the West, but that survival will not have been worth the effort if working for it came at the cost of connecting with the ones we love. Choose wisely.

I can "hear " Buddha telling me "NOTHING in this material world matters, let go of your ego and things that don't matter, and just be compassionate and everything is gonna be ok. You are home now" I cry almost every time I visit a temple, and this religion definitely helped me in many many ways. @Aryan Malik All religions are great in their own context. Be it Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judiasm, Buddhism, etc. In the end it's kindness towards all sentient beings that all religions try to preach. That said, it's never wrong to keep learning about all religions and respect them. Cheers from Bhutan.
