My Ford Ranger with a 4D56T out of a 93 Pajero with 90k on it was smoking white like crazy, worked on it for days.... still the same problem! The reason he uses the crowbar is because the 4 injector lines make it difficult to turn the IP. The Crowbar allows you to bend the fuel lines. Used this process and voala!!! no more white smoke!!! Hi, I am an ardent follower of your channel especially on the 4D56 engine videos. I have just completed rebuilding a 1992 4D56T engine and followed all the processes from piston ring gaps and spacing gaps and cylinder to piston clearance gap etc. On first start up I have blow by what is causing that??? some internet sites say the rings have to seat inn first before the blow by can go away. In your videos you dont mention anything about seating the rings how do you do it????

Going up hills I get lots of black smoke and have to back off. I have not touched the fuel screw at all. Is it possible I need to try turning the pump counter clockwise to delay the timing?

Hi Di you know what the timeing is set at after setting it by hand I did and found it was at 1.2 but run well set it at 1.0 it run bad misfiring and smoke thanks paul
Do you know what they are called the things you put the crowbar on? I broke mine when pulling the engine from the car. there is a slight leak and no start.

i have too much white smoke. not idling properly. i tried to tune the pump with both methods many times. people say my plunger is worn out. if i change the pump plunger, will my pump be good as new? or should i buy another pump?
Question..... At what rpm do you change gears ..... Is it better to drive hard and change at 3000 RPM.... Or is it better to baby up the engine and change gears at 1500 RPM
I've done it with the indicator gauge to 1.03-1.09 and it still runs smoke and not running anywhere near right. What else could it be. Brand new pump, glow plugs, injectors testeed, timing belt all three on TDC. Absolutly having a nightmare here. I've done videos on my channel about it.

The only way to be sure is with a dial indicator..
will the motor run hot if pump is to far advanced? i just want to keep watch on things so i dont break anything

You need to use a straight edge a filler gauge in order to determine flatness. Thats the only way to tell if it needs to be resurface or not

Same principle. Generally black smoke is either cause by too much diesel or burning oil.
