As Gregory states, those of us who were young back then and grew up with this music didn't just witness it. If you went to the concert, you survived an experience that forever influenced who you were. You got high on Jamaican Gold and let the music guide you through a transcendent experience. The world was changing, fast, and the music was, too. As of this writing, it is 2022. I'm 67 years old. I consider myself lucky to have survived the early heavy metal era, and lucky to have experienced an explosion in the growth of rock 'n roll music, the likes of which will never be seen again. It was amazing. The music was incredible. The experience was fun. Long live rock 'n roll. And, thank you, Deep Purple, for the memories.
How fortunate it was to have lived then, them and this when and while it was happening - in New Orleans! Wow, how extraordinarily privileged I am to have experienced it ... and to have survived to gloat about it.
Sounds like 1970s pilot's song. At the beginning it all sounds like a process of starting up engines and right at the end a sound of shutting down and cooling turbines
Richie, totally amazing guitarist.... after this creation of maybe one of the first so called Heavy Meatal Ballads...Song's what have you , guitarist Richie Blackmore more than likely had to retune the guitar he was playing during keyboard solo, or get a different one that was in tune, unless he had a extremely sensational guitar tech, capable of keeping a retro Fender whammy bar in tune, just saying the hole bit is incredible...... to play a original Fender Strat will tell you no easy task keep in tune those days in the beginning, but the sound iconic!*
Stones over Beatles, Purple over BoC, Floyd or zepp Slayer over Pantera Sinatra over Elvis Wonder over Gaye dead over Phish Tool over meshuugah Van Halen over Aerosmith Coltrane over Rollins Pavarotti over Domingo. Anka over Sedaka Megadeth over Metallica Nirvana over Pearl jam
