    I've never been good at pose to pose across the entire body, it always looks as though some part of the body is going against the other, but when its just animating individual parts such as the head or hands i can do really good. as a result i kinda felt id never be able to do a walk cycle... thank you for introducing me to layered animation as that suits my animation ability perfectly and has meant ive made my first decent walk cycle.

    i'm no animation expert but i'm pretty sure the head is supposed to stay pretty still when running.
    im basing this on how chicken or ostriches run. the head moves more back and forth rather than up/down or side to side.

    How do you get the graph that shows how the foot moves at 3:07? Is that native to blender, an addon, or something you added in post? Something similar exists in After Effects and really speeds up the whole process!

      it's called "motion path" and it's built into blender, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube on how to work with it

    Her whole body movement would suggest that the tail is wobbling up and down instead of left and right I'd say

      If you watch the entire video, I explain that I wanted a snake like movement to fit the character background.
      I didn't work on up and down motion that much because the game is in top view and you won't see this kind of motion. If it was a third person animation, I would sure have input more of it ;). From a top down POV, you will try to favourise left to right motion as much as possible.

    Hi! I have started to work with your Baqir recently and have watched several of your videos with explanation of graph curves, but I don't understand why my curves remain very flat even when there is a bigger motion and tweaking them only a bit makes a lot of motion.The zoom in is proper, it's not like they are very small. Do you have any idea why this might happen?

    Merci Pierrick ! Je viens de switcher sur Blender et tes vidéos sont top ! Petite question, existe-il à ta connaissance un script qui permet de simuler de la physique (comme LMspring de Luismi Herrera pour Maya) par dessus une base d'animation ? Pour des oreilles et autre ?
    Merci encore !

    Would you say that Blender 2.8 is comparable with Maya/3ds max for industry work? I'm wondering whether focusing my learning on Blender is a good idea...

    • @PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN
      @PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN  4 года назад +1

      Well, it depends what you mean by industry. IS blender good to find a job in a small studio or to freelance, definitely. Is it THE industry styandard, not yet...
      BUT! learning animation is not a matter of software again, it's a matter of work and a good animator in blender will have no problem getting a job in a big studio and learn their pipeline in a couple of week.
      But if you do want to focus on animation and have the choice, then you should learn in MAya

      @@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN Thank you for the response! I was thinking more of the general Character Artist route, with sculpting done in zbrush, marvelous etc, and then for retopology, UVs and rigging I would use Blender since it seems like a really fun software to use, compared with the dull Maya interface in my opinion :D
