BREAKING! To turn on the heated steering wheel you have to ask it “hey Mercedes, turn on my heated steering wheel.” Also, when you turn on the heated seat, it turns on the steering wheel as well. Mystery solved. Just give us a button next time? 🥴
Haha, was just about to comment how at 2:33 the little indicator for the heated steering wheel pops up on the dash when you turn on the heated seat. That is really confusing!
are you sure its not on the steering column? on the gle the buttons on the steering column
Crazy! My Acura has it… on the steering wheel!
@@jordannn14apparently they removed it when they redesigned it in 2023.
This can’t be real…
The fact that, in your mind, simultaneously heating and ventilating the seats equates to Total Baller Status is a big reason why I like you, TheTopher.
It's been 4 years since I started following you , learned so much about cars thanks to you , thank you for what you do man.
My 2018 GLC 300 still going strong 81k miles! I like the rear tail lights on mine over these newer ones.
I just hit 1k miles on my 2023 GLC. Love the new drivetrain. The car is very well behaved but is capable of being very playful on curvy roads if you demand it. Plenty of power for passing and dusting most cars on. Not a Supra but for a family car it gets the job done and has just enough performance to have a little fun if you want to. The build quality is very good, absolutely no rattles or squeaks unlike an Escalade.
I wonder what the reliability is on this suv? What about its electronics? Reliable? Looks very nice!
love this review.
My bro just got this car he said nothing but problems so far. The rear cam stop working after each update (3x already) The window trim is coming loose after 2 weeks. Very luxurious and smooth ride though.
gotta trade them in every 6 months or prepare to live in a loaner more than your own car
He defo didn’t buy it brand new for sure
Mercedes is now ranked dead last among all manufacturers for reliability by Consumer Reports, and the GLE specifically is ranked as the single worst car currently on the market in terms of reliability. I know this is a GLC, but Mercedes as a whole is complete junk these days. Meanwhile, BMW has moved up to #3 overall right behind Lexus and Toyota.
@@TerminalOutCast If he has issues in the first weeks, what makes you think people can deal with it 6 months?
@@xFlared I don’t
Seems devoid of emotion or excitement but a brilliant transportation device. Thanks for taking us for the drive.
Nice video cheers
Perfect 👏 👏
On the right panel at the bottom you can increase/decrease the volume by single step - just press at 'minus' or 'plus'
I love my fully loaded 2022, my second GLC 300. It was a lot more than $61K!
4:01 you can press on the volume up and down on the bar below the screen.
I'm surprised to say, I like it! I think recent Mercedes tend to be fussy and flashy and overpriced, this seems straightforward, functional, and handsome. The lack of a volume knob is the "bad" Mercedes--I mean, why? A silver knob would be sweet.
Thanks Chris, all the best.
Nice video! Will an AMG trim be available for this refreshed model?
Usually the heated steering button is where you adjust the steering wheel on left side where the blinkers are
This is a good car
The navigation system is like a PS vita.

@@Aahmet.negawatt negawatt⚡️
wow 💯👌
it’s not on the wheel adjuster? my glc 2021 has the switch there
This was a nice tour of the car. Those are pretty beefy tires for a GLC 300, no? 285 in the rear is performance-car territory.
You mentioned it being difficult to clean the screens without changing settings. Usually these vehicles have a detail mode just for that. It should be in the settings somewhere or it's a button press combo.
Bro rocking the Omega Speedmaster like a pro.
A few thoughts... giving people the same interior on a $50k car as a $150k car seems like a mistake to me. Also, Mercedes needs to chill out with glossy materials that age poorly. And they need to fire their graphic designers, their tech looks very hokey.
when will the 2024 model actually be released?
how do you thing this fares with the volvo x60?
I would say this thing is worth 25k, not 60k LOL
Wish the trim on the dash with lines continued on the center console instead of the glossy crap
Mercedes is the new Buick
I don't like this popular trend with touch-buttons only. This not safety and looking not good... I think, buttons for climate system and volume audio, that minimum must be mechanical. This buttons you can use not look on they
How is the comfort ? Is this a 4 cylinder ?
Waiting for the phev coupe to come out!!
the steering wheel heating button is on the settings, you go to the settings of the seat and you will find it there.
That is what we call trash design 🗑️
Another tablet for the instrument cluster, just what we needed, they wont even bother putting a shade on top of it to avoid glare.
I have 2023
Mercedes made me sign a piece of paper not to take the car out of the US.
I used to have a 2016. An F150 rear ended me at 55 - 60 MPH. I walked away with bruises. Both vehicles were totaled. I decided to get another one. A few things that I like and wished I had.
1 the way the car starts. It doesn’t have a typical starter that cranks. I believe the electric motor starts the engine. The end result is is a very quiet starting motor.
When accelerating the electric motor kicks in and thumps out mad torque. The car zips really fast when acceleration.
2 the vents. If you select blue for instance as you ambient color then turn on the heat, the vents color change from blue to red. It psychologically pleasing: warmth.
I had headlights that illuminated the direction you were turning at slow speed in my 16. I don’t have it. It’s a really useful feature to me since I live in the country.
3 most buttons are sliding in other word you touch a pad with your finger and slide to change something. You can easily make unintentional change that way.
The volume control doesn’t bother me at all.
I like my 23. The price is steep but the car is superior. It saves my life and I trust it .
*Can't see where the automatic gear is?*
Luxury cars are dead.
Even the Lexus RX’s new 4-cylinder is rattly.
Just get a Mazda at this point.
I noticed the side mirrors do not turn in when the car is turned off. That is such a nice feature on my S class. Seems to me for this money it should have that feature.
They side mirrors turn in when you lock the car
@@georgeskanderbeg3242 Thanks for the update. Great video
Pretty good overview but you barely mention the driver seats, a big miss in my opinion. How are the cushions, side bolsters, and headrests? Seats are critical and I am surprised how little focus they are given by many car reviewers....
I expected a wayy higher msrp than 50k. with everything being outrageously expensive nowadays I actually thought 50k is on the cheaper end for a 2024 luxury model.... still cant afford it tho lol
50k for entry fee sounds great until you look at cost of ownership. And when things start to fail and the electronics degrade, add another 10-15k bill for any fix, plus thousands in labor and then the car eventually depreciates to nothing in the end as the tech becomes outdated and full of electrical and mechanical issues.
This one as tested is 61k. To get a 50k one you’re missing out on a lot of features even a Honda Pilot would have.
@BoldBrandFlakes true...but the Merc just looks way better 😂
I'm not sure what happened to Mercedes in the past few years. They used to be leaders in intuitive technology and luxury. Now the brand seems to be catering to "trendy" people and "clout chasers" who just want a car with gimmicks and over complicated technology. I can't see this car holding its value at all, the tech is way too flawed and I'm sure the price to fix - I mean replace - will be astronomical. Eventually the tech becomes outdated and fails to work, leaving nothing but a boring 4 cylinder jelly bean car that's nothing special. I miss late 2000's Mercedes. When they actually made attractive looking cars that weren't way above and beyond for no legitimate reason.
Social media has revealed many colors of these car manufacturers.
And that's different from 90% of car manufactures who do the same thing how?
Great review, although let's be real. The prior gen of this car was MUCH better - the interior was much nicer with more buttons and switches making everything easier to access. The open pore wood in the prior gen made the interior really classy. This looks boring, plain and down market by comparison. It's a 'clean' design, but a downgrade from what existed before. More screens make it look cheap. Until electrification arrives, these turbo 4's need tuned exhaust notes. These still sound too close to farm equipment. Exterior lost some of its shark like charm. This looks more dowdy. We leased a prior gen GLC300 and it's easy to see what they messed up with this update.
I prefere the GLE since GLC is still a C-Class type car with a C-Class driving experience.
Will it squeak like all the mercedes products starting from 2012 or you have to pay a bit extra for that?
No, that's included from the base model up, no extra charge. A Class or S Class, squeaks are standard.
Am really sure there is a Mercedes glc the same one in the video just in plug in hybrid
The heated steering wheel button is directly above the power tilt steering wheel control.
That’s what I thought too, no dice
They took it away. It’s in the climate menu now. Or use the voice assistant.
Hopefully they fixed the suspension setup and tire characteristics. The handling on my '22 GLC300 felt downright scary and unsettled when going over bridge seams or high bumps at highway speeds. I attributed it mostly to the runflats and AMG-Line staggered wheel setup, but I sure don't miss that. Also the violent stop/start function and noisy (outside car) engine. Sounded like a diesel. Two characteristics I found to be very off-brand for what people perceive as Mercedes-Benz.
Other issues happened in the first 500 miles - when entering stepdown by flooring the throttle, the car freaked out, engine lights came on and it entered limp mode on an interstate going 75 MPH. Stopping the vehicle then restarting seemed to fix it until it did it again next time I went to pass someone. It was OK as long as you stayed out of stepdown mode on throttle. Dealership said "MBs are sensitive and it might've got some 'bad gas' somewhere. There was no other issues showing up on diagnostics. Never had that problem again in 25,000 miles.
Also the amount of creaks and rattles that started before 25k miles was very disappointing as well...in a MB, I'd expect ZERO, for $55k. I've had Mazdas and Hondas with better build quality, frankly.
Honestly felt relieved to trade that car off.
Wow. No rear USB-C ports? That is quite a terrible omission for an expensive car.
this is my current car!! mine was 64k MSRP, almost fully loaded
Yeah it's great car
I love it. But I believe there is not a model for 2024 yet. This is 2023.
The only feature I liked was the phone reminder. 🤷🏽♂️
60k for 2L 4cyl engine with dodgy build quality. new Mercedeses are kinda disappointing.
Luxury cars are dead.
@@faheemabbas3965why?
@@philippelemaire2887tesla convinced the general public that luxury means fitting as many functions you can into a screen. now Mercedes is trying to appeal to that crowd
@@juusbox most people think if their car has bigger and sharper screens that means better and more luxuary but the fact is its even cheaper for manufacturer to do that !! even i can put a big tablet on my 20 year old car and call it a day
Got mine a month ago and this thing is badass. Agree 100 though on the volume control. It's weird a bit.
did someone see the m4 when he entered the highway
The Germans sure love making luxurious grocery getters.
damn, I wanted a 120 inch tv in there
the interior is probably less than 120 inches
This drivetrain (2.0 M254 Mild-Hybrid) shines on the highway & higher RPM, punchy, responsive, smooth and good MPG. In eco-mode, it will completely shut-off itself and doing "coasting" when you release the gas, very refined.
At low speed stop-and-go traffic, the engine lacks of electric-assisted power, sounds like Mower and it needs to rev higher to move...
Any mainstream Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid SUV Vehicle probably be quieter and smoother than this engine in city driving.
Isn’t this an X254 instead? What’s the reliability like?
I am so baffled to find out that they no longer install ambient lighting around AC vents??!! (Seems to be only included in AMG models) Ugh...
Nothing says "premium" quite like a whole bunch of cost saving swipe and touch stuff.
Sheep will still buy it for the clout because it’s a “Mercedes”
Don't buy it
you europeans & americans are lucky, the price of this GLC300 in my country is 110,000 USD after tax. If i can get this car at 50,000 USD I will go to Mercedes dealer tommorow morning and buy this car in hard cash.
Nice SUV the only issue in the US is the unavailable Continental Eco Contact 6Q tires. Two flats one repairable. Dealer removed one from a new SUV. Mercedes Corp still terrible in reference to.a resolution on these tires. Ordered a AWD but they put on Summer tires that are not sold in the US. Will be filing a law suit within the year. Mercedes customer service is still horrible in my opinion. My next SUV will be a Lexus!!!!!
The turn signals and the engine just sound cheap for $60k
All that piano black trim... ugh
Воздуховоды над монитором выглядят нелепо.
this is the first time i’ve ever seen a mercedes have a slower turn signal beat
Unfortunately, this seems to be more of the new era of MB, the interior looks cheap, the lack of physical buttons in a ‘luxury’ vehicle will never be acceptable, the steering wheel design is garbage, the four spokes with haptic plastic touch buttons screams cost cutting, as does the piano black elements. The column shifters being see through to save money on material costs is cheap and unacceptable. All windows should be auto up-down standard. The headrest is cheap plastic, it should be aluminum. More cost cutting. The vent design looks like brutalist architecture found all over former Soviet countries, it doesn’t flow with the rest of the design which is rather minimalist and designed to not draw your attention, they stand out too much. The electric systems in this car will stop working after 5 years as that is there current M.O. and the cost to fix them will be astronomical, perhaps more than $10,000. Another feature, which is, completely unacceptable for the brand that was MB. They used to be so well loved because they were absolute tanks and could run for hundreds of thousands of miles and deliver absolute luxury making them worth the price. At this price point, the Audi Q5 definitely has a better design, the X3 with the I-6 engine beats this in reliability, and for every one of these they sell Toyota will sell 15 Rav4s or Corolla Crosses for half the price, and with inflation being 7%+, people really start to care about out the door price, dealership experience, and fuel economy, and this unfortunately has none of those. What has truly happened to MB one must ask?
Planned obsolescence and taking advantage as a status symbol. Luxury cars are dead.
Funny about Toyota, they're losing market share to Chinese brands in Australia since a Toyota now almost has cost parity with Lexus lol. A Landcruiser 300 is the same price as the equivalent Lexus and same goes for the RAV4.
The GLC-Class is #3 fastest selling car NoW Dec2023 per CarEdge. So, the modern look sells big time!
This vehicle rides like a 40K vehicle at best. Interior quality I can tell is gonna start creaking at like 20K miles and to top it off it has a 4cyl for 60K☠️ People actually have no idea how much better the GV70 than this, for 60K you’re actually getting a 60K car.
This is 2023. Yes, luxury cars use 4 cylinder engines now because they can get the same power as a 6 or 8 as well as get better fuel economy. 6 and 8s are going away and then the ICE engine, at least without an electric engine added to it in the form of a hybrid, is also going away. Also, 60K is a standard price for a luxury car. Mainstream cars now cost 40K plus and sometimes cost over 50K.
@@benjaminsmith2287 My X50e has a smooth I6...The difference is night and day between a 6 and a 4 imo
@@pete64041 No doubt. I have a 6 as well. But, 4s can now have the same power and such, if turbocharged, but they feel and sound different for sure.
@@benjaminsmith2287 Yeah, i would argue one is more effortless and relaxing and the other you have to really step on it hard for the power. 4's aren't bad as far as speed now a days as they have been vastly improved, but 6's are just better from sound and smoothness. Actually the electric part of my car i have got use to as the most comfortable lol
I really don't like those three ventilators on top of the screen!
It’s nice, but it’s no BMW.
Yeah it's....better
Fake exhaust tips, forgot to mention that 😅
I liked your omega moon watch chrono .
im so conflicted cause the german's make better handling compact suvs but way more expensive and unreliable than the japanese competitors
Parts get your parts here
I’m sorry $61,000 for a 4 cylinder 255 horsepower GLC is unacceptable.. not to mention the reliability, which is no doubt horrible on these. Much better off getting a BMW X3 M40i with 130 more horsepower and IMO better styling/interior layout for about the same price as this. Not to mention how bad that gloss black plastic is!
The X3 with the inline 6 is miles miles miles better than this junk for $60k.
I have a 2023 X3 M40i. Paid $71K and it's pretty much loaded. It will blow the doors off this 4-banger Merc, lol. Not to mention BMW is ranked #3 by Consumer Reports for manufacturer reliability, while Mercedes is dead last, behind even Jaguar/Land Rover, Chrysler, Volvo and other such historically horrible brands.
@@mattspeer01 EXACTLY!
Literally a planned obsolescence rip-off.
@@mattspeer01 You're prejudiced.
255x285 tires on this? Wow, what is Mercedes thinking here? Seems extremely overkill.
It’s 255/50 R19 on the rear and 235/50 R19 on the front. Not using 285s.
@@geothermal7999 He mentioned the sizes @8:00. I just double checked to make sure my ears weren't playing tricks :)
Just the first 5 minutes was enough to mark this car off my list of considerations. Computerized everything, piano black trim, button galore steering wheel. Nope.
The AC is a deal breaker to me , even if they looks less “ prominent “ than before , are still to visible in a time that most of the car maker make the ac exits that almost blend with the dashboard
Deal breaker for me too. I can never UN see them lol
It is for the looks ..its just a design on purpose
285 rears at this power level is the dumbest thing. Did we conveniently forget all the bad that comes with unnecessarily fat tires?
Mercedes Benz has fallen downhill. Their dealerships are fully stocked in my area. No one is buying them.
Luxury cars are dead.
It’s probably the location. It’s still famous here in China. It’s like a status symbol here. Most of my coworkers own one or their family owns one. They’re even more expensive here. The base price for this car in China is 66,000 dollars.
You there are people that go on dear let’s lots and perform a ‘car’ reveal without ever owning one nor driving one for an extended period of time.
All GLC 300 from 2016 till now are superior cars. Without running the risk of offending others, they are better than Audi BMW and the like.
Every 7 years, Mercedes introduces new technologies to their line ups. 2023 is one of those years. So for this person to claim that the 2024 model is a vast improvement from a 2023 is a crock of / pile of / hose manure.
The engine and transmission hasn’t changed since 2016. Yes they introduce this gadget and that but to claim that a 2024 is better than a 2023 model
Just isn’t true
Can’t they make it not sound like a buzzy four cylinder?
Upper middle class Karenmobile
Don't buy Geman cars. My family used to be a loyal buyer of Mercedes and BMW over 10 yrs. However, we are not buying them anymore. We figured out that German cars started to make more technical and quality problems. Also, Germans started to use cheap materials when they made their cars. Definitely, the current German car industry is declining.

Yeah thought the same. Actually there are a few things about this video that are incorrect. Guess you need to actually own it for a bit to discover that.

Really disappointed with MB interior design, ugly big round dials, incoherent dash and center infotainment, Audi has better design.

Is it just me or is the video incomplete? It ends pretty much as soon as you start driving. Didn’t get any driving impressions.
Bmw's better
This car 💩 on Audi and BMW. They have to gibe away their junk cars. Mercedes is charging $3k over to buy these.
Volvo XC60 has a better interior for less price.
It's an old design compared to the Mercedes and it isn't that much less expensive. Volvo has more road noise and rides firmer.
