    My nightmares used to feature very stressful emergency braking scenarios driving the 2020 GLC300 I was leasing. Your comment about the brakes reminded me.
    Does that C class have adaptive dampers? They were standard on the GLC (adaptive but not adjustable). I really enjoyed the cabin of my base-ish GLC compared to my current fully loaded 2022 G70 that has no ambient lighting at all. A lot of ppl hate on the MBUX system but when you live with it, it’s amazing to use since you can control all of the screens with your hands never leaving the steering wheel.

    I still like the design, interior, and look of the previous generation W205 C-class better, and I think that's still my favourite C-class ever made to this day. But I do appreciate that Mercedes-Benz is at the forefront when it comes to technology in their vehicles, and that interior does look very nice and tech-laden, so props to Mercedes-Benz for that. Let's not get into the C43 and C63 AMG cars, because we all know how people already feel about that :D

      I'd say the interior of W205 is a bit outdated. I've driven my friend's GLC, the infotainment is a bit clumsy to use, and without a touch screen (just the touch screen, I also prefer physical button), it's really not a good system. Other than that, the exterior design of the W205 is fantastic, looks like an elegant S-class, rather than a meh S-class like this one.

    I’ll also comment that having to spend several days learning the controls of a vehicle is not the intuitive or luxurious experience I’d expect from MB. The climate controls are in-screen simply for the sake of being in-screen. They could have easily made those into physical controls if they are always there anyway. Users should be able to jump in and gauge how everything works from the box. Automakers seem to misunderstand how intuition is a safety concern in this decade.

    Disgruntled new customer here. I already regret getting a new one these, already broke down once, apparently a steering wheel column chip, or something, stopped functioning properly with only around 3000 miles in the car. All of the sudden my car stopped working without any warning light. It makes creaking noises, like if it wasn't welded correctly, and brakes suck. My 2017 is by far better built and never had any problems. Idk, these newer models have a lot of room for improvement. I really hate the fake exhaust tips too. I honestly am not considering getting another Mercedes. And, they didn't even have any rental cars available at the dealership due to the high number of newer cars being repaired.

    One thing I never think about until after I’ve purchased a car. How are the headlights at night? What are some of the best cars in terms of nighttime visibility? I work overnights (12-hour shifts) so often times depending on the time of the year I’m driving in the dark to and from or at least one direction.
    On that note, is the ambient lighting intrusive to road visibility? I have somewhat poor night vision compared to the past. Mainly glare from other lights outside but I always keep my dash lighting at the lowest setting because it tends to interfere with my night vision.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @akdomun
      @akdomun Год назад +1

      That's of great importance to me too. The trick is always get a car that has a separate high beam headlight/bulb, and not one that shares it with the low beam bulb or projector and is just activated with a mechanical flap. Best high beam for me: BMW e39 series - lights up the highway for everyone, not just for you.

    • @Mike.Macmyazka
      @Mike.Macmyazka Год назад +3

      @@akdomun Most of the vehicles I've owned in 10 plus years haven't had same bulb for low/high beam. Even so, I don't use high beams often because even though I live 20 miles outside of the city, I work in the city and there are plenty of people driving at the times that I drive so it becomes a hassle to try not to blind people and constantly turn them on and off.

      If I judge on my W205 C400 base headlights, they’re very good for nighttime driving. You can always look that up on the IIHS website for every car (headlight safety).
      As for the ambient lighting, Mercedes mentioned that the top part dims itself when it gets dark, at the same time that the headlights turn themselves on, just like the previous generations’ instrument panel that dims when its dark, as a way to prevent glare and distractions. Mercedes-Benz cars are usually very well designed.

    • @Mike.Macmyazka
      @Mike.Macmyazka Год назад +4

      @@ALPHAzerox898 thanks for the info....the only issue with IIHS for lights...currently, the automakers are sending their top of the line cars and not all trims are equal with lighting (MB or BMW might have the same headlight in two different trims, but for instance, one vehicle I was interested in when it was announced was the Maverick...only the top Lariat trim gets good LED lights...the XL and XLT have worse halogen lights and the testing is of course based on the top trim on that vehicle). I know that they are trying to change that and I believe IIHS is trying to make it so that all automakers have to use the same across all trims...which hopefully means everyone gets better headlights no matter the trim...this only means automakers will increase MSRP for lower trim vehicles in the end though.

    • @ALPHAzerox898
      @ALPHAzerox898 Год назад +3

      @@Mike.Macmyazka yeah hopefully they fix that soon, still gives a good idea of what the headlights do (better than nothing). For instance, I’d say that my MB C400 has headlights that light up very far on high beams, but not as wide as they could, and the IIHS has the same results for my medium level trim headlights.

    Pricing is a head scratcher. If you have $65k for a sedan, you have $80k. There are many better choices in that range. E class, anyone. 5 Series? A7?
    The hybrid is the right answer. MB 48v hybrid is the benchmark and I’ve noticed that other companies have been hedging their EV bets with something similar. It makes sense for more people that EVs only.
    I wonder if the sedan will be extinct by the time the manufacturers realize that they should have been making liftbacks the whole time though. It doesn’t matter what size the trunk is if the opening is a compact sedan mail slot.
