Hey so around Friday afternoon I tried something after torquing everything in in the rear of my bike again, and again after each ride ...
It's Sunday afternoon and everything 's remained torqued down properly so this kind of confirmed something for me and I figured I'd share a major oversight on my part and it's really obvious and kind of embarrassing. It made me realize maybe other s are skipping this as well .
After disassembling my wheel completely, I chased all the threaded bolt and screw holes with swabs dipped in alcohol. I could not believe the amount of residual black sooty oil from the production process was in these bolt holes! I even cleaned off the bolts and screws in the same manner. Added fresh blue 242, and I even wiped down the threads of the axle bolts with a rag soaked with alcohol. Everything was coming off black including the threads in the nuts. This was a new hub too. so I can only imagine what is going on with an older one . Nothing has budged since. Hopefully it lasts. ☺️👍

I watched this a few days ago ...I was getting ready to be greasing my g62, I couldn't believe the rear rotor was only finger tight screws, The hub cover the same. And the axle bolts and Free hub tower screws. They were all loose! 🤯. I used loctite blue 242 but I'm still going to check everyday after a ride and before the next one. That really shook me up. Good lookin' 👍

@@BrettWoodBiking yeah if the brake rotor bolts come loose, they can cut the motor cable!! And potentially other hazards , it often shorts out the controller if those wires get cut

@@EBikeBuilder_ yeah and the rotor screws are only like 2-4 mm away from the motor cable to begin with. I got the bike upside down right now retightening everything in the back end of my bike. I'm just shocked how fast they came loose in just one single ride. I guess the next time I take something apart I'm going to use blue 242 even though it's already on the threads, followed by a daily check after a ride.
Also my motor is so quiet at full throttle I had to check the speedometer. It's the first real greasing and it was dry AF in there 😍
Edit: just noticed the rear end suspended would usually shimmy the whole bike a little bit after letting off the throttle. Never noticeable when riding but very pronounced when the rear wheel was suspended in the air... It doesn't do that anymore it's just so stable.

shaving the paraffin wax - Use a cheese grater.

@@ecocentrichomestead6783 yes that can work! a fine grater would be ideal, you want the wax pieces as fine as possible as to dissolve easier.

Good info. Where were you 2 yrs ago when getting my 1st eBike? 😂 Just installed new air forks so went from a threaded headset to an integrated bearing headset & had trouble getting the star nut seated. Dan's Comp confired the top cap bolt should be snuged 1st to remove the bearing slack then tighten the stem bolts alternating until both at 4 NM. Then cinch the top cap bolt into the star nut or expander nut they now have too. Great waxing formula on the chain. Bought some expensive chain wax in a crock pot but just took the chain, chain ring, derailleur, shifter & cable off to save weight so never waxed my chain. 😂

2 years ago i was figuring this stuff out myself! I think you’re right yeah, with alternating the stem bolts. But yeah, point being- top cap bolt tightenning in relation to stem bolts. I always have to grab the fork and lift up as i do that top cap bolt, to get the compression set right with the headset bearings. If the stem bolts are tightened first it can prevent the top cap bolt from getting that compression set properly. I think my other main pain point in the past was constantly adjusting mechanical brakes; now i just recommend to people get hydraulics. And yeah when it comes to chain products, there’s a lot of them out there that basically turn into grinding pastes instantly lol. And even with wax, there’s always someone trying to sell it as a “super secret formula “ … But its not rocket 🚀 science 🧬 !! I hope this one helps some people out!! Took me like 4 years of fussing with bikes to come to this understanding, lol .

@@JoeSmith-pg9rw thanks 🙏 Joe! I hope this helps someone out , especially with chain waxing and the derailleur. I’ve spent a lot of time fussing with my bikes, i tried to make this the video i wish i would have seen years ago!!
