      It’s dumb, I changed to chasing comfort and my miles and speed went through the roof. I’m down from 215 to 179 and as fast as I was 20 years ago. Running 35mm Rene herse plushies.

      Even as an XC MTB urban rider, any wasted energy _hurts_ me.
      Hot take: People are talking up how great lossy-AF hub shifters are & I'm not even happy about the extra drag on 1× layouts!
      Plus, I don't want to spend >$1K on one proprietary component I'll void the warranty on just by pushing myself a bit.

      It don’t make you faster, and it don’t make the bike look better. So, you’re making the bike a bit lighter, and your wallet A LOT lighter… for what? 😂😂

    I'm getting sick and tired of people forgetting that lighter bikes accelerate faster out of a corner. As a crit racer on mostly flat courses, people always seem to forget that a lighter bike is not just for climbing but it saves watts out of each corner which is especially good for tail gunning in a race.

      Nope! Lower rotational mass makes you accelerate faster, so lighter tire, and a lighter rim. Physiks are really simple!

    • @MainUkraine
      @MainUkraine Месяц назад +1

      @@66mikkim exactly, that's why Chinese wheels are taking over the wheelset market because they offer aero wheels at lighter weights than western brands. There are wheelsets for under $2k that are 1200 grams or less.

    • @MainUkraine
      @MainUkraine Месяц назад +1

      @@66mikkim I run pretty shallow 40m elite drive wheels that are 1250 grams for the wheelset and I notice that I save a considerable amount of watts accelerating out of corners each crit. Instead of doing 600 watts each corner I am getting away with 450 watts on some of these courses. It makes a big difference.

    I too upgraded my Madone SLR to its final evolved form. Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 60mm, custom 3D printed saddle with 7x9 carbon fiber rails. 140mm rotors front and back (I don't care if braking will be slightly worse) and lighter GP 5000 S TL (was running the GP 5000 AS - All-Season tires which are 50g heavier) I probably could have done more to reduce weight, like a shallower wheelset, titanium bolts, OSPW, Ceramic BB, but I don't wanna go too deep into the rabbit hole of this obsession.

    So I was seriously looking at upgrading to TPU tubes, but when I went into a LBS, the guy there said he has seen overwhelmingly negative experiences with them. He said they seem to get more positively rated online, whereas more than half of the TPU tubes he sees people use end up developing flats around the stem. I was initially kind of excited about the idea of such a light and compact tube, but he sort of put me off of it. Any thoughts on that? I get being cautious because they're so much more expensive than butyl, but was he perhaps being overly negative?

    • @homersadiarin9299
      @homersadiarin9299 24 дня назад

      The stem of TPU Tubes are fragile. You must really be careful installing them and with pumping air into them especially if you're using hand pumps. Nonetheless, they are great. I use them right now with Vittoria Rubinos, the one that are stab proof and then bought some tyre liner to put inside as well to ensure that it's not gonna get stabbed. Punctures is the only issue i have had with them so far.

    nice you took a budget bike and added 1500$ in parts

    • @GCPerformance18
      @GCPerformance18  Месяц назад

      Yea and made it way more efficient to my liking. The bike will perform much better with these upgrades including comfort and speed with the added aerodynamics of the wheels

    I thought shimano bottom brackets don't want grease inside the bike frame?

    I’ve always thought that the best upgrade one can do to their bike; is ride less and get a higher paying job lol.

    Prestacycle cassette shifts like crap. Possibly the worst shifting I have seen in 40 years of being a pro bike mechanic.

      @galenkehler Месяц назад +1

      When it's pan flat and windy, you shift once per ride when you turn around to come home, so shift performance doesn't really mater 😂

      Yeah my buddy got one a few weeks back and it shifts like shit. He took it off and sent it back in less than a week.

    No sense to do such expensive upgrades on an average frame. I'd better upgrade the frame )

      @GCPerformance18  Месяц назад +3

      its always nice to do upgrades on carbon frames, thats the whole part of it, if you could buy a crazy high end frame it would come with the nice parts, these upgrads would complement the frame to make it that much better

    U think what upgrades u can push on ur bike, but ur bike wants just to be ridden. Thats it.
