    Took me awhile to find this post... So today, September 15th I was riding past a pond where a regular old man fishes he was there again looking annoyed as usual. And I hear a tick tick tick as I go past the little wooden bridge. I see silver circles all over my tires front and back. I know this piece of Garbage put thumbtacks on the ground but I can't prove it. I made it the 20 miles home but could definitely see the color of the flat preventer coming out of the tire. _________ Question is, should I change my tubes now or just wait? How long is this stuff good for after punctures? _______ Incidentally I told the old man I think it was him and he was in heavy denial. So I gave him the scare tactic and told him I was going to give the tacks to the police and let them figure it out from the DNA and thumb prints. 😂😂😂😂... Everybody knows the police don't give a crap about this kind of thing but He's still in that black and white era where thumbprints put people away for life😂😂😂. he was suddenly helpful to pull the thumbtacks out of my tire faster than I could so he could throw them into the pond. I threw a few in my backpack just for show and he started to pack his gear. There was a few other cyclists rolling by and they started asking what was going on. There was a micro search party for The thumbtacks people were getting them in their shoes. There was a lot. And I mean a lot strategically placed under leaves even. It was methodical and diabolical😂😂😂 what a bitter old FK!

      what a dck!! thats some Sht that would go down on the bruce vento trail in st paul. Except it wouldnt be a grampa with the tacks, hahah. With FlatOut i just keep going, some tack holes arent going to stop it. FlatOut can seal holes that are like 1/4" up to 1/2", so the staples are nothing i wouldnt even worry about it. I ride tubes around till they fail in some way Lol. FlatOut is supposed to work for the life of the tire / tube. but it only seals tread punctures

      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      my Flipsky in the VESC app has always read the voltage as 2V under the actual voltage, i have no idea why. I think you are right - the CA3 seems to have the correct voltage. The watts readout between the CA3 and the Flipsky is so close I'm not too concerned about that

    Samsung 50S is 15Amps continious not 30, a 14S2P pack with 60 Amp BMS is not a good idea. At a discharge test of 15A continious you see end-temps up 70°C/158°F. For such a high discharge rate better use Samsung 40T cells. If you watch carefully you can see a voltage drop of over 4v, that's because of the cells. My 52v pack is 14s6p Samsung 25R, 770Wh and when I pull 40 Amps out of that battery I have less than 2v sag. Espechially for high powered ebikes you need high discharge cells. Good 21700 cells: Samsung 40T, Molicel 42p or 45p are good for 30A continious Good 18650 cells: Samsung 25R, Sony VTC 5a or 6, Molicel 26p are good for 20A continious I love the new CYC controller because its VESC and VESC should be open source but CYC is using proprietary code which I don't like. Otherwise the 5000w kits cause a lot of problems because they put too much strain on the parts. A BBSHD with Phaserunner or Flipsky 75100 controller is much more robust, much quieter and has more or less the same performance and you only need to replace the nylon gear from time to time.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      i agree Ive got samsung 40T3 in my other bikes. I was EXCITED To hear CYC used VESC for their controller, but I am VERY DISAPPOINTED its closed source and proprietary code. It might as well not be VESC .... Ty for the comment Brother I agree CYC still hasn't quite figured it out.

    How about an up grade and trial of steel gears in the 🐆. I thought about trying them. I've seen 50/50 Nylon/brass? I like the technical jargon. Great videos 📹 😮❤

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      The nylon gears are used for a reason which is they act as a fuse, it'll break and crumble apart the nylon gears, but nothing else should break. The main limitations of the nylon gears is the phase amps (too much torque will break the nylon), and heat (nylon gets weak when too hot). When I was using a Bafang G62 hub motor and went above 90 phase amps I broke the nylon gears pretty fast. If you upgrade to steel gears, You could run the motor with more phase amps / torque. But then other things inside the motor can break- instead of the nylon gear, you might have to fix the ring gear, or sun gear. Even if the steel gear can handle more heat, the rest of the motor will still fail at about 150C. In my experience the nylon gears work fine, you could make it marginally better with steel gears but it would be loud. and down the line you'd be replacing sun gear, steel gears, and ring gear, instead of some 7$ nylon gears

    • @tommygreist9560
      @tommygreist9560 12 часов назад

      @EBikeBuilder_ Makes since to stick with Nylon for a fuse and the noise. I like to be as quiet as possible. Your set up is awesome and I love learning from a pro.

The acceleration & torque on hills in his road test seems well worth the expense. Justin said they're trying to have the new motor design available this year.

    Can you save profiles to the computer on VESC? You could try the thermal rollback on the CA instead of VESC. Use a meter to see if the battery is the same as CA or VESC.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      i've noticed for whatever reason, the VESC voltage reading always seems to read 2V lower than the actual battery voltage. No idea with that one, something Flipsky specific perhaps, im not sure. It seems like the CA3 reads the voltage properly; like if I used a multimeter on the battery leads.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      in VESC there are profiles , yeah, you can do things like create an "offroad" profile with high power, "eco" mode with low power, there are a subset of parameters available that you can save as part of a profile. And then switch between them quickly, somehow, I think just with the app, Im not sure how to switch profiles with say the CA3 MFSwitch yet

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 12 часов назад

      with the CA3 im gonna use it as my display , temp sensor, speed sensor, I'll use it for everything except I think i'll map the throttle in VESC and then have the CA3 throttle set to Pass Through, I think VESC has better options for the throttle ramping. Ive never totally figured out the CA3 throttle ramping tbh

  • @jasonsamia

    I'm actually thinking about buying these. whats the number of life cycle that these batteries supposed to have? If you're getting 30miles per charge, that's 330+ recharge cycle per year. If they're going bad after 2-2.5 years of use of 10K+ miles per year (I'm sure not moderately use either) then that's not too bad, right? I guess if one is going to use the battery hard and heavy use frequently, it's best to use better quality batteries. For the normal usage and the occasional "push to the extreme" use the upp batteries will probably last longer than the bike, interest/hobby of the person.

      i think the typical method for a third-party controller setup would be to buy the CA3 - SA 'standalone" version, that comes with the Standalone Shunt. But I was able to get it working with my CA3-WPx. I used an adapter Grin makes, to go from the WP8 cable to the 6 pin JST, so i hooked my shunt to the CA3 with that adapter. Then i took a WP8 extension cable, spliced in the throttle, temp sensor, and wheel speed sensor, lmao the good news is it works, Im not exactly sure how to make this video without it being really confusing hahah

      Yeah in the Motor CFG under Temperature, its lets you pick a Temp Sensor Type and put in the Thermistor Beta value and all that. and the Temp Cutoff Start and End temps etc. I've used it and it does alright. It has a bunch of Temp Sensor Types like NTC 10K and whatever. And you can use scripting to implement a custom temp sensor and override it with script , I guess, if vesc doent have your temp sensor type implemented

    With the VESC recording, seems your speedometer drops off when coasting. Seems like you're doing around 30mph or a little faster. Seems to be 30mph is what the ebike Nazis will allow with no license, registration or insurance. Hawaii is close to "redefining" ebike classifications by adding a blurb on having fully operable pedals but doesn't define what that means. If the eBike has pedals & your feet go on them when riding, then that's fully operable in my resonable interpretation of Hawian codes.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 3 дня назад

      You are right the speedo drops to 16mph when coasting, The speed in vesc is calculated from the rpm and the gear ratio and wheel diameter. So the speed looks correct when I’m on the throttle. But when I’m coasting it will only be 16mph etc. its my script that does the “virtual freewheeling” , i think that’s just how fast the chain ring is spinning from the freewheeling, i need to make it so that when I’m going faster it freewheels faster, but the idea is it automatically keeps the motor coasting so there’s not a big jerk when I engage the throttle

It looks like I'm going to have to get a second second battery blender so I can run three battery simultaneously and skipping the voltage sag. I'm only using about 50% of the battery capability with all that sag unless I want to go pas1 -2. 🤷. My only other alternative is to get a dx3 so I can hook up four batteries but that thing is quite a chunky block. I like all my stuff to fit covertly and internal. So I guess I'm going to have to go with a second dx2. (One internally hidden and the other hidden in the battery bag hanging from the down tube.

    That's one long ride. How many miles do you currently have on that bike?

      Ooh man I had 500 miles on the Cheetah with the stock setup, and I think i had 1000 or 1200 on it the last time i looked at the cycle analyst, Id have to check again its probably like 1500 or more by now. i went on a bunch of monster long rides. like 50 miles each time, they add up quick. been burning through a pair of the 1 $ brake pads like every few days hahaha

    Quite a ride of 47+ miles & 19 AH on the Samsung batteries then you switched batteries? There sure are a lot of cool bike trails there. I have only 1 I've found where I am. They just paint bike lanes everywhere around here.

      @@stevecumming6427 i went through the 21s 5p samsung 20ah, then 25ah of the cheetah 🐆 batteries, and i think 7ah from lil baby samsung , in total i think it was like 65+ miles But when resetting the trip on my cycle analyst and using a bunch of different batteries its hard to keep track haha . I could have maybe skipped reset the trip. But yeah that was nuts never gone that far in my life Haha 😂. I had a whole 20ah of 48v I didn’t tap into. The bike infrastructure gets better towards the cities but is dangerous. Its also better in more expensive places like Stillwater Mn has better trails cuz of all the money there
