Today I run more than 4000K a year. Only with massage I got rid of shin pain that I had 10 years ago. I also focused on the most painful spot and kept massaging until pain went away. Which was five minutes or so. Truly painful but it helped that I knew how great running can be without pains.

i was thinking the same thing. my shins are so tender; it hurts to touch it. just watching him dig his fingers inside like that makes me cringe in pain.
Then probably running, or sports in general not for you. No pain no gain baby. Its all mental. And knowing that you are massaging these spots to help you in the future is absolute worth it. Also it strenghtens you mentally. Just admit it and get through.

It can take several weeks to to a couple of months to fully heal and longer if you return to aggravating activities (running) too soon or do too much of the activity.

That area of pain is often related to the SI joint and the deep rotator muscles of the hip joint. I would recommend trying the exercises in my SI joint video and my piriformis syndrome video. You can find them under my spine and hip playlists.

@@Nikhil-xw5zw The peroneal muscles are on that side of the leg and can cause similar pain, but on the other side. I will do another short soon that shows how to massage them. Also, there is an ankle eversion exercise in my ankle sprain video that can help with pain in that area.

Looks like you have good technique however I was taught in massage therapy school that you always massage towards the heart not away from it so I would do the same move but I would start at the bottom and work my way up to the knee
The direction of treatment doesn’t matter when the focus is on pain. Moving towards the heart only matters when there is fluid accumulation (edema) in the tissue.

Is it possible to have very severe shin splints that aren’t stress fractures? In my leg leg mainly I have very severe pain when running heavily during football practice, however other than the pain level it seems like shin splints. It hurts all down my shin, although there is a spot in the upper middle where it is the worst, and when I put pressure on my shins with my hands that’s also where it hurts the most, they usually hurt a lot in the morning before I have the blood flowing, and only cause moderate pain once I’m walking around and stuff. It’s especially bad during and after practice, because it’s usually 2-3 hours of heavy sprinting, and sometimes when tackling people I land weird on my leg which hurts a lot too. I stopped practicing a few days ago and it’s gotten a little better, but I’m really just hoping and praying it’s simply bad shin splints that put me out for 2 weeks, vs a minor stress fracture that could put me out 2-6
The pain you are describing can definitely be a severe case of shin splints. When these soft tissue structures are extremely irritated they often create symptoms very similar to what you’re describing. However, if you don’t protect the area and give it some time to recover and calm down, a stress fracture could result. If things aren’t getting better in a couple of weeks, you might consider seeing your doctor to get an x-ray and rule out a stress fracture.

I've consulted with an Orthopedic doctor and I've rested for more than a year but the pain isn't going anywhere as I've restarted playing football and running again. I am seriously concerned about my legs now as I cannot enjoy running, playing and sometimes going upstairs becomes extremely painful lol.

That looks like an easy release to do on that particular person's leg, just try compartment syndrome and try to grasp everything that's stuck together to try and release separate them
