I switched from twitch to RUclips a few months back, and I’m super excited to see actual growth from mostly just streaming and posting shorts. It’s also pushed me to try to be more creative. For me it just makes sense to stream on the same platform that I’m creating content to be discovered though, shorts and long videos. It’s also allowed me to take a step back and realize the game I was tirelessly playing on twitch to keep my viewership was making me miserable. Best of luck with the journey to happiness.

I think what you're doing is a smart investment since you'd still retain your RUclips audience doing what you're good at on your main channel, while Senpai Gaming can be a specialized platform on Twitch where you can really hone in on a specific genre, etc. I feel like RUclips is more about information while Twitch is about entertainment, so I wish you nothing but greatness to evolve and bring happiness to not only the fans, but most importantly yourself!

This week I'm looking at my next year. I grew by nearly 500 subs this year, which sounds paltry compared to other channels, but for me it was amazing. But I've been wondering how I can "up my game". Making that move to make my channel unique and not just "another minecrafter". Which is a dime a dozen. So I've been asking the hard questions like: Should I start streaming to Twitch? Should I start looking at TikTok as a viable system? How could I multistream to RUclips, Twitch, Facebook, and/or TikTok - and is it worth it?
Many questions ... re-evaluating your career is never a bad thing. Direction, performance, etc. In fact, I probably should do this quarterly to make sure I'm pivoting accurately.

I think it's okay to be both successful, and be struggling. In fact, I feel like that's a very normal thing. Humans, all humans, struggle. That doesn't change simply because you've hit a goal or reached some level of success. In many ways it can increase that level of struggle as you look for new horizons, different ventures, expand business ideas, etc. For someone to sit back and look down on someone for that is short sighted in more ways that one. That said, I feel some level of sympathy for folks who would look down on someone in that way since it's very likely that person is struggling in much the same manner and simply looking for an outlet or answers. We've all been there. It's healthy to admit, "Hey. Things aren't perfect and I'm struggling." Struggle is, realistically, a constant in human life. It never TRULY leaves us and so, as a result, is a thing that bonds us and offers us a way to walk a mile in someone's shoes. All that is to say there's nothing wrong with admitting you're not happy with how things are right now. People CONSTANTLY reach success and then realize they aren't happy with what they have, but it provides them an opportunity to pivot focus with a refined vision on what they're doing. Long story short, keep doing your thing, further refining your vision and direction, and find that point of happiness between the work you do, and how your life is playing out off camera!

I've been fortunate to have saved up enough to have gone fulltime since June of 2021, but can also be another to say that the content world is extremely difficult and stressful at times, ESPECIALLY when it is your primary source of income. One of my 2023 goals is to truly grind short form content and not just a few one week and then none for a month after. Another which I'm afraid of is to jump into is re-/multi-streaming. Over time I too was resistant, but feel like it is becoming the meta for overall growth.

Great video and thanks for opening up. Not many would be so bold so I love your honesty and I wish you much success in the future!
But you are so right it's finding a Niche that is so difficult these days. I am 55, been in the IT Industry for over thirty years and ran my own business during that time. I also had many hobbies as well. Like building and flying Radio Controlled scale aircraft and competing in events.
I have thought long and hard about what Niche can I bring to my stream these days. Sure I stream my game play and I have even in the past had a few stream chat sessions as well. But I think the bottom line is and it's something we all have to face is. Everyone seems to be doing everything these days. Not in the sense as one person but so many people doing the same thing as you mentioned. So finding something difficult I personally think is near impossible these days and it is something I also struggle with.
But I think my age also has a lot to do with it as who want's to watch an old woman on stream even if they are very knowledgeable in many areas.
What is the answer? I still don't know? But it doesn't stop me from thinking about it and what can I do to help make my life a little better and to make ends meet in a world that has basically gone down the toilet and yet. So many people are in the same boat as the rest of us and in fact many more are more than likely worse off than what we are?
So even though I have nothing and I still rent. I am still grateful for the little things I have as I like to think that the things I have are just a dream to so many and they are the people I feel sorry for and wish I could help them more.

I'm still trying to figure that whole thing out but for streaming, I've been trying variety for a month now while playing my "main game" and another game in the similar niche at least 3 time a week, we'll see how that goes!
As for TikTok.....idk I don't really like that platform and I'd rather have my full attention to one platform I'm streaming on instead of 2 at the same time. I've watched Twitch streamers who stream on both at the same time and it's...weird. I prefer to watch people who are fully into the stream on the platform I'm watching it on instead of hearing "we're also streaming on TikTok guys" and responses to comments in chat that we can't see or know about.

im gonna work on those 3 questions you gave us. as for tiktok streaming vs. twitch i made a switch. i'm known for my asmr and gaming, and just like you twitch is for live gaming and tiktok is for live asmr.. as for streaming both platforms at once, i find that your audience is split and they leave if you dont give them full attention. it's still possible to do it, but less viewers/engagement. tiktok helped me grow my youtube within the last month way more than twitch could. the way my schedule is: stream on twitch 3-4hrs first then stream on tiktok 2-3hrs.. which is perfect when you gotta spend the other hours creating/uploading on tiktok or other socials to give you a full 8hrs+

I started doing RUclips content and streaming on Twitch March 2022 and I passed 500,000 views and have about 20 avg viewers now, but I’ve been considering multi streaming on tiktok but I haven’t found a clear video on RUclips showing how to do that with streamlabs. I also feel so stuck in my niche and not sure if I should create a new channel for other content besides gaming or just post it all on 1 channel. Thoughts?

I hear ya on the niche thing. When I moved away from my casual content is when I noticed my growth go stagnant. When I went back to being casual in an game where others do high end content some have been happy to find me, have said that me, and come relax & chill with me while live. That’s how I knew to stick with being me and not follow a trend or what’s hot during that time. We always have to ask these questions about ourselves and you’re no different. No judgments from me. We are have to support what changes come with this career. In 2023 I want to try shorts as well and it’s been on my mind after posting on other socials. I wondered hmmm, how do I do shorts again? 😂

You admitting you are not ok, that takes such bravery. Totally admire you for that, as we need to be honest with ourselves 💜 I stumbled across your video here. Parts of your video described where I'm at right now. I've not streamed in many months, I completely lost my oomph. I inspired a friend to stream from them watching me, but they pretty much just puked out my streams and buried me in the process. But then my streams, they were just a mishmash of other streamers. Since this I've been soul searching to find my niche and along with it my passion once again 💜 Excited to see your new journey!

Valuable for us small, part timers that aspire to grow viewership. So, feel validated, and we understand the grind. Your point about standing out is the most important. Lot of imitators out there (just peruse the CoD streams on Twitch), but few innovators. I tried streaming different games recently, and to my surprise, doubled my followers. Appreciate your content. Twitch is a dying platform being held together by a handful of large creators that just haven’t realized yet they can make a lot more money on RUclips. The platform hasn’t changed or innovated in almost a decade. They could’ve been a legitimate RUclips or TikTok contender, or at least had they kept up with the times they could’ve remained the dominate place to stream. I mean it’s 2022 and you still can’t use a thumbnail for your stream, or send more than 6Mbps bitrate feeds. Amazon successfully smothered what would have become one of the top 5 largest media platforms in the world, while instead they remain a relatively niche and rapidly shrinking shadow of the past.

Harris, I have been in the corporate world for years now doing a variety of sales engineering roles in cyber security. Over the last 3 to 5 years I have stopped playing games mostly because I have become so engrossed in my day job and career. I love my work, and in many respects, it is parallel to what you are doing. But instead of being consumer focused, it is all B2B. So I have been doing marketing engagements, webinars, presentations, and a number of other marketing and trade shows. The day to day is all focused on presenting our solutions to customers directly on Zoom or other platforms for sessions that are 30 minutes to three hours, depending on the engagement.
Your decision to change up is parallel to my own change decision. Over the past year, I have actually done over 765 direct calls/demos for customers throughout the year. Like you, it can occasionally be monotonous, and very product focused. But it is actually my role, and I not only signed on for it, I love it. BUT in the back of my mind, I am always thinking, "I need to be working on a project too, or doing something creative."
All that said, ironically, the reason I am on your channel right now is because I am planning to make a change to my rig. I have been having tons of audio issues with a RodeCaster Pro 2. It works great, but there are a few issues I want to change. Looking to actually carry around LESS audio equipment when on the road during trade show season, and to reduce the clutter on my desk.
Your videos over the past few years have resulted in me making numerous purchases related to my setup, to improve my output during my regular job. And today, I am back for more knowledge that you have done so well to impart.
So by all means, go find that project to knock down periodically, go back on Twitch to satisfy your audience, entertain us with your daily shorts. But don't hang up completely on your reviews. Some of us still love them and need them!

I understand the grind but for different reasons. I'm a mom of three, I work 4 days a week, and I am able to stream (usually) 2 days out of that. It's hella exhausting to keep up with. My streams are quite niche to begin with, which you would think would make it easy to stand out, but it's really not. Well, I haven't figured it out yet. I am just trying to not be burned out so I can keep doing the thing I love to do. Maybe shorts is the way to go for me as well since it can still offer some type of content without a huge commitment. idk, I guess I am just saying that I totally get the burnout and the stress, and I'm glad you are finding something to help you refocus your vision without (hopefully) adding more stress =] just create something that brings you joy...focus less on the numbers. Everything on here changes so rapidly it's hard to keep up. So make content that makes you not only happier, but feel less stressed.

I have everything I intended to have so I could start my channel and simply CANNOT land on a niche that correlates with my likes and skillsets. God knows any gamer would love to just kick back and enjoy games with an audience but that's like a needle jumping into a stack...of needles. Thank you for sharing that you are struggling ! In my opinion, it is really refreshing to hear people who have made it admit that. It puts things into perspective. Not that one couldn't have imagined that burnout can happen to anyone. However, to hear how much of a struggle it is, even when you are successful enough to outsource the editing etc. makes it somehow feel more achievable to push oneself and the channel hard enough to reach success on these platforms. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone, but I think it takes away some of the "unachievable fantasy" element to it all. Beyond that I think it is important to talk about this stuff from a mental health standpoint as well, and how taxing this type of job can be.
