I use your streambeats playlists everyday in my classroom as background music. My middle schoolers love streambeats hip hop and lofi depending on the day.
This video is the absolute treasure for people who are right now starting to get into the content creation and have not made any money of of it. Thank You, Harris , I see it as an absolute win to be in the first 10K to watch this. I am taking the challenge of a month:- 1. I will build up a print on demand store ( Amazon/Red Bubble/ TeeSpring ) 2. I will make a course on how to edit in Filmora 9 ( because that is all I know right now ) 3. I will create a passive tech youtube channel and put my heart and soul into it, so one it makes passive income from the affiliate and clickbank links. Thank You Harris
i just got into streaming about 3 weeks ago, i love gaming. i have been playing games for as long as i can remmeber. Ive seen your videos and they have really helped me look at a diffrent point of view on 1k diffrent things. i didnt know about the merch, or webservice that does it all. ill be doing that soon. I just got a good webcam for streaming like 10 mins ago. i stream on multi-platforms at the same time. most the time i stream probably about 4+ hrs each stream. my goal is to be a source for reviews on video games. So i beat a game then review it. i call it the RAW score. Raw Entertainment Gaming, keep your eyes out for me @Senpai i think ive found something im good at. lol keep the videos coming man they help us little guys out.
Thank you for being a genuine person and really helping us from the stand point of someone who blew up once and had it taken away, you are a big inspiration to me and my content so thank you Harris!
My desktop has been on a dresser for 3 months, finally getting a desk this week. I have a lot of recorded content that I never got around to editing so I'll be burying myself in video editing for a while. No income, but improving a skillset. Thanks for all the support and amazing content. Ps I love the covers you and your wife used to do!
I’ve relied on my twitch revenue for everything. After watching this video I’ll be looking into the merch store! My community would love some of my catchphrases on items 🤣
As I literally quit my job and jumped head first into my graphics design business, streaming was going to be just an outlet for me. However now I'm thinking of how I can use it to feed business to my design company.. thanks for this!!!
I’m thankful for everything I have learned here. My streaming career has led me to build skills in order to become a content creator for a Small Record Label in the Comedy industry. It is definitely a large piece of the puzzle that may allow me to start stepping into full time content creation.
i've been working on my taco stand relentlessly and it's getting closer to where i want it to be and every time i watch one of your videos it makes me move even faster. thank you.
I've pretty much heard all the advice you have to give at this point I reckon - I just watch these to build the motivation to record my videos when I need to switch into a productive feeling mood XD
You are always motivating to listen to. I’m gonna set up that merch store, start brain storming logo ideas for our Wine with the Wifey show, and work on learning to use my fancy camera for things other than streaming. I used to be a portrait photographer for goodness sake!
I'm an artist. I'll be setting up a merch store with some of my designs. I was set in the thought of, "I should wait until I'm bigger," but I'll be making it now so I'm ready when my community is ready. Thank you!
Love the hamburger metaphor and also the suggestion that you set up the merch and affiliate links in advance of the channel hitting a bump in popularity.
Honestly the skill share thing sounds super interesting and could almost be a lead way into pateron or other BTS/PPV content for those more in depth teachable topics.
Wow, so happy I came across this video. I had decided to upload some of my music on RUclips but never knew anything about the Amazon links. I felt like I was limited on Twitch so RUclips winked and here we are. The next order of tacos will be a revamped merch store and amazon links. Keep inspiring content creators Harris.
I think I'm gonna get my channel and overall business started in content creation by getting the branding started! side note: been watching your videos heavily for almost 2 years now studying/soaking up the information you've put out, and I just wanted to say I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. It helped me get started on the right foot with what I'm passionate about. good luck in all your senpai endeavors Harris!
I watch a lot of your videos and I've learned so much from you. I cant do much to improve my stream as I've been deployed in the middle east but as soon as I get home I plan to put all of the information I have learned from your videos into action. Thank you for helping me, I've been taking notes!
This weeks focus will be setting a game plan to learn and improve my video editing skills. Thanks for the insightful video! Absorbing everything I can before I begin.
happy i watched this video, im 22 and as a full time content creator, i make revenue from tiktok, tiktok sponsors, youtube ads, youtube sponsors, twitch subs n bits, twitch sponsors, merch sales, cameos, and my own personal investments. to boost your algo and answer your question, im gonna add amazon affiliate links. Im also working on setting up my creator coin (a creator specific eth based crypto) im working on my own disposable vape brand (what my content is centered around) & im still trying to get into real estate investing. thanks for spreading the knowledge to people who were wondering how and why to diversify their income. such an important tool for anyone that wants to create content full time. its harder than just setting up a camera and entertaining for a couple hours. somewhere along the lines the job title for "content creator" was skewed. this video shows how creative you must be with your income to actually maintain quality content, financial stability and your sanity while working in this field. kudos to u
I’m going to be starting streaming this coming week (you’ve been a large inspiration and driver for that) I’ve never liked half measures or doing something I don’t believe in or enjoy and I was searching for months for a game I could consistently enjoy that also provided fresh content. Thanks for always sharing your insights and thought process!
Awesome content. Practically inspirational! And I mean in the practical sense. You related your experience very well, with the constant threads that underlying your success is having realistic goals and expectations, and mistakes are teaching tools. My first step is putting aside a regular time to record and practice editting videos. I'm a chef, and I want to make videos for recipes, cooking techniques, etc.
Loads of great advice, Harris! I am still getting my gear set up to start streaming/making videos, but I am going to take all of this on board. In particular, I will be sure to add some Amazon associates links, and I am already thinking about the day when I can hire an editor as well! I think that is a huge piece of advice for lots of people to take on board; get someone better than you to do those things you struggle with, and help other small freelancers pay their bills as you improve your own channel!
i do have a question tho, where will you put your amazon associate links? because i want to put some of those links but i dont stream or post videos to put a link under them so where can i actually put these links?
I’m trying to make a side income off of Twitch and RUclips while working at a dead end job, so this video is exactly what I needed. It’s difficult to get to that prestigious 1000 subscribers but thanks to you I know I just have to stay determined and hungry. Thanks for your help!
Hey there, I enjoy your content, and thought I would go ahead and leave a comment. So, I picked up a Canon M50 for streaming, and my camping trips I take. Well, my buddy was getting married back in May so I got ordained to marry him in my backyard, and used the camera to take pictures and video for the wedding. I have now been paid to marry three couples and paid to take pictures and video at two. Again, thank you for the content you make. It does give me things to thing about if I decide I want to dive into content creation. For me at the moment I treat it more as a hobby. I wanted to learn more about the ins and outs and have something to fill my WoW void with.
I'm just getting into Streaming, because I'm usually the guy in the background that supports the talent, and now I have finally gotten into a position where I can take everything I have learned, and been doing, and do something for me. Your videos are so helpful because I don't have anyone around like me, with my interests. So Thank you for making the videos, it feels like we are working together to get my vision to come true. Ill keep you posted once I hit my first 100,000 followers, and this is the same model I will be using in order to reach that goal. Thanks for everything
also, I know my logo is the same as other streamers... I'm taking your advice from your other video and will be rebranding my Brand. I will keep my gaming Quoleo, as the cliche, but my other revenue paths will have another brand similar, but not cliche
I really liked how you gave advise about side hustles. While going my brand I also am freelancing from learning how to edit. Glad I was able to give it a shot and think that I can make some money from self learned editing.
I already started to split my revenue into different things after learning from good people like yourself but again you inspired me to talk to an artist right after this comment to get some additional merch designs made. Thank you as always Harris.
I love the "set it up now when you're not scrambling." In almost everything, when you need something is too late to set it up because of the frenzied scramble to get it in place. Well done!
Ive put off Editing for so Long but I technically have the time and skills to do it, at least for myself. Im going to get good at editing and offer it as a service!
Dude, your content is mostly pure gold. You got me on the video you said, if you make 10 grands a month, you feel like you should deliver a content that worth it or more. This mindset is the way. I've been learning so much from ya, and I'll be building my taco stand this week! :)) thanks, as always
Twitch is like 5 revenue streams though, so for 99% of creators it's fine. Cheers, bits, subscriptions, sponsored streams, donations... most sponsored streams give a few thousand for a few hours.
I try to explain to people on reddit that twitch is a stepping stone to a full blown career as a multi-hyphenate but they just blow the advice off figuring it will last forever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@ThisisCitrus I’m not talking platform, I’m talking about the streamer. Over time people will move on and find other streamers, not only that people’s priorities change.
Started my merch store last week, your video about it helped inform and motivate me to do so, and I'm currently looking into drop shipping this week with a friend. Thanks for all the videos so far it encouraged me a lot😊 Stay Safe everyone🙏🏾
Always informative and helpful videos, to help myself (and your engagement) I’m going to sit down and take all my half-baked ideas, figure out what can be done short term, and start spending time on those, then set up a schedule for the long term goals!
If you don't have a video already, I would love to see one about recommendations for when you first start an LLC along with recommendations about protecting your private information while being an online public figure. Side note for people doing merch: depending on how you go about it (if you decide to try to get some higher quality custom stuff rather than the made-to-print) production times for custom stuff might run much longer than expected. The supply chain is pretty messed up right now.
I really want to thank you. I've been coming to your channel for the past couple of weeks and have been really inspired to be more proactive. I've got amazon lists packed with items you've suggested to start streaming and building a gaming room (because that's something that I'm passionately desiring), but this video really made me hunger for more from myself. I've been playing the piano for 21 years, I'm an avid researcher of any and every product that piques my interest, I'm very good at creative writing, plus I'm desiring to do a podcast show and review channel/show for items ranging from tech, to clothing and fragrance. Things are still slow and tough (due to covid) in my country, but as soon as I get the necessary items, I'm going to dive into this new found passion to entertain and educate others from my own experience. Once again, thank you so much for your ideas, inspirations, and advice.
thanks for the tips Harris. Streaming is just a hobby for me since I love my career and can't see myself not doing it but having some passive income would be awesome so time to brainstorm with the wonderful advice from this vid ^.^
This was a great video. Really motivating me to finally get my T spring merch store live this week. Made a design for a shirt for beer lovers from one of my twitch channels emotes and I've been nervous to launch it not sure why but this week it will be live! Thanks also I need to look into amazon links
Absolutely amazing! I love how you have me thinking like a business man as well as having fun with it all. I will be getting a new laptop this week and putting it to work!! Thank you!!
Thank you for all the advice. Just getting started, and you’ve made a great map with your content on how to get from hobby to full fledged content creator. For now just make more videos.
Your videos are what encouraged me to be a better story teller. I am actively improving my ability to relay information in my job... now I've got to figure out my niche for RUclips because I want to make videos...maybe not as a business, but as a way to do something I enjoy.
thanks man for all the time and education you give us I walked away from streaming in November 2020 after my brother passed. I wasn't seeing any success on any of my media platforms I've taken the last 9 months to regroup and now that I am on disability with a compression fracture in my back I have no excuses time to put all that I've been learning to work. thank you so much!
Oh my goodness dude this video is pure GOLD !!!! The amount of good information is insane !!!!!!!! I feel like I owe you money now !!! The thing I took away from this video was the fact that I can start my side hustle with video / photo production especially beacause I have everything I need in terms of equipment to film literally any event. Thanks again dude this video was and is amazing !!!
Setting up the merch store makes lots of sense....been seeing it in streamelements and was thinking of setting it up when my channel gets bigger but gonna set it up this week ..thanks alot man
I've wanted to do youtube more specifically, but content creation as a whole for more than 10 years maybe, me being a teen at the moment, had my first paycheck a couple of weeks back, bought a microphone without hesitation. I know I know, I don't really do that much about doing videos as much as I've spend, having or thinking I have ADHD means to some point I find it hard to work on things that are mentally exhausting lately even more than usual. Lately also I have started doing some type of stuff for youtube, right now only settiny up things and thinking for video Ideas, today I fully sey my audio and feel proud of myself knowing I didn't get out of bed some days prior to that. Next week I'm planning to do everything I can to publish a full fledged edited video I can say I'm proud of, while I wont settle for something avarage, but done is better than perfect.
I'm not doing this as a career ( I already work 50+ hours a week) but I do have fun streaming and playing. I'll be doing a merch store first. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
This is a really really great video!!! I love how you've invested in real estate, very realistic and should be an eye-opener for many! Appreciate all your vids Harris!!!
I have followed I would say 70% of your advice, because of your advice and tips. I have been able to help my wife become a successful full time streamer. :) There is still soooo much that needs to be done. But I appreciate the honesty and transparency you have with your community to help them succeed too. will be setting up a youtube for her next week, and going to try tiktok and see how it pans out!
My mates and I set up a fantasy football (EPL soccer) draft podcast purely for us and the guys in our league. Next seaon we are going to use OBS and stream. Today, my 🌮 stand will be to start a digital guide on how to start a draft fantasy sports league, and keep it fun for everyone. Not with the intention of growing the audience or making money, but to offset costs to make a better product. Growth will hopefully be a by-product. The primary aim is to create something fun, and grow our production skills. Thanks HH, so glad I stumbled on your channels. Dave, Brisbane Australia.
This may be a weird and unorthodox approach to something I will do this week to help my channel, (That I have yet to really start). I am going to ace this job interview tomorrow to get into a new field, and a job that gives me the consistency and schedule needed to be able to stream consistently and remove my last excuse for why I have not really gotten into starting yet. I've heard so many times don't bother unless you can have a consistent schedule, and my current career, while paying well, just does not give me the flexibility needed to have a set schedule and that has been my biggest reason for putting this off for the last 16 or so months. Gotta say, I absolutely love watching your videos in the meantime for the past year or so and gathering more and more info to help me when I am finally ready to take that leap into the world of streaming!!!
My to do list: 1- Relearn FB advertising and possibly restart my Social Media Ad business 2- Use that knowledge for content on a skillshare account 3- Finally decide to work on merch 4- Learn both Photography and video editing to better myself and my growing stream 5- Learn about Amazon Affiliation
Amazing video! While I already have multiple income streams this video is a great reminder for me to focus on my art and making more passive income streams instead of my 4832902 jobs. That being said, my passive income goals for now are merch and selling premade twitch badges!
Thank you brother I definitely need that motivation going to make Amazon links on my Twitch account. I have a bunch of artwork that me and my buddy has been drawing so definitely going to set up a Murch store
I really appreciate your content on every channel, and I just love your music, Harris! Thanks for sharing! People as amazing as you deserve all the success!
Great video! I love how excellent he can make his videos look even with a background like an unfinished basement....goes to show it doesn't matter what is behind you, as long as you can light it properly...
I have been putting it off for a long time, but I feel I need to finally learn how to edit. You have helped my streams come so far from where they were, that I would like to apply this to RUclips. Of course, I also need to nail down what kind of content I wanna create.
I honestly do not see you as a RUclipsr or a Streamer, I see you more as a music artist. I first saw your work on RUclips trying to set up my OBS but once I got to listen to Streambeats and then looking more into your past, you're definitely more of an artist.
Already expanded into a merch store, and I have a friend of mine who made a pretty cool logo for it. So done that and are trying other places! It's a good start instead of just streaming! Thanks for the video Harris!
For those unfamiliar with Amazon Affiliates program, you must apply to be an affiliate (scroll to the bottom of the Amazon homepage for affiliate program links). This means filling out an application that gives Amazon information about your website, your audience, and possibly your social media status. They use this info to gauge whether or not you will meet their affiliate requirements (although they don't really tell you what they are). Once you are accepted you will have a certain period of time where you must produce click-through from your affiliate links. If you fail to generate any clicks/purchases within a given period of time you will be removed from the affiliate program. Try and list affiliate links that generate interest and possilble purchases from your audience. The reason Harris was so successful with his affiliate program is that he reviews a lot of tech gear and that gets a lot of interested clicks from his audience.
My only comment on this is that the video assumes number of things like having people to sell merch too or use the affiliate links, diversification is absolutely the right things to do, however having the network that will allow you to film their wedding day etc etc etc is another level of confidence you can only get once you have a "reputation". I believe this to be something you amassed from you streaming, and while it makes complete sense to do what you have said it still doesn't help you grow that network of people to "take a punt" for you to learn how to video their occasion or buy your merch. That's the golden goose that would help people.
Always great to hear amazing and well used thought out advice. I am just starting out in my studio, I plan to 7-8 streams of income, From wedding coverage (Photo/Video), along with podcasts, book publishing, Art sales, and a business to business advertising plan for SMB's like a podcasts with the owners and High Quality headshots and commercials of the business for social media. But it is all planned out in stages and i hop to get the stage one completed some time this year. So hearing some the tribulations you had with your first business helps. But your following advice was on point. Oh and some of the side hustle would also be live streaming games and BTS live stuff down the road. You know the fun hobbies.
I have always consistently stuck to Twitch Streaming as my only source of revenue, I always held back on starting my youtube channel, patreon, and merch store out of fear of failure. time to get these things started!
I agree with the merch thing. I just believe that there is a certain way that people need to go about it. I know people in the industry that have attempted to release merch without notifying anybody about it or really giving it any backing. Making the merch store is half if even a quarter of the battle. What’s gonna make yours better than the next? Especially when mostly everyone is making merch or even their own clothing brands these days. 🤷🏻♂️
Your impact on Twitch streamers is already visible. As I watch this video. One of the streamers I usually watch is listening to one of your songs on stream "Harris Heller - No Plans This Weekend"
I am just starting out and being the age I am and forced into early retirement, I am looking at ways to make my channel both profitable for me, and entertaining for my viewers - I know nothing about editing and just starting to learn OBS, I find the content on all your vids I've watched very informative and entertaining - and although it will take me a very long time to even earn a cent, the process is educational and entertaining for me - I hope in time that my channel grows - thanks for giving hope to an old woman - shows that you are never too old to learn something new
Funny enough I already work for a company that does weddings. Photo, video, entertainment. So I actually can get to work on that. Really loved the video!
I'll definitely set up a merch store, design some shirts, hoodies etc. Set up the amazon affiliate links. Since I'm regularly being told my voice is nice so I figured why not look into voice acting or make videos in which I just voice over animations/read stories etc. And since I'm a vtuber I feel like learning Japanese would fit really well with my brand and I'll make an effort of learning it!!
What's your taco stand going to be?

This is inspiring. Sometimes we just need a little guidance, with me being so young. Thank you Harris
I love the "set it up now when you're not scrambling." In almost everything, when you need something is too late to set it up because of the frenzied scramble to get it in place. Well done!
Here to help that algorithm ❤
You're the bomb Harris! Thank you so much for Stream beats and all your content!
Ive put off Editing for so Long but I technically have the time and skills to do it, at least for myself. Im going to get good at editing and offer it as a service!
You gave some great life advice for not just growing on twitch but also something else in life. Thanks for the great advice.
He’s right, Real-Estate is a game changer. Great video bro
Savage 🤘🏼🤙🏼
and as always, thank you very much. You are the reason i started a serious channel out of my hobby. And i couldnt be happier. thanks a lot
I literally own a Smashburger Foodtruck & a Media company.
I feel so targeted
And me coming from the food truck scene would tell you to run as far as possible from a taco truck idea 🤣🤣
@@thrashhpandaa haha!
Dude, your content is mostly pure gold. You got me on the video you said, if you make 10 grands a month, you feel like you should deliver a content that worth it or more. This mindset is the way. I've been learning so much from ya, and I'll be building my taco stand this week! :)) thanks, as always
The amount of Twitch streamers I know that rely on just twitch revenue is ridiculous, they go but I don’t want to start again on other platforms
@@ThisisCitrus I get what you are saying but streaming won’t last forever! Yeah you might be good for 4-5yrs but not everything lasts forever
@@iammickt Depends, RUclips has been around since 2005, Twitch 2010. Videos and live streams aren't going anywhere.
Thank you
Man you got me hook with SOT!!! keep up the good work
If you don't have a video already, I would love to see one about recommendations for when you first start an LLC along with recommendations about protecting your private information while being an online public figure.
Side note for people doing merch: depending on how you go about it (if you decide to try to get some higher quality custom stuff rather than the made-to-print) production times for custom stuff might run much longer than expected. The supply chain is pretty messed up right now.
I'd actually like to see how these splits have fluctuated since starting your streaming career.
I concur
This is one of your best video, and should be the first stop for every budding streamer.
Probably never going to stream but I like to hear Harris' tips
This was a great video. Really motivating me to finally get my T spring merch store live this week. Made a design for a shirt for beer lovers from one of my twitch channels emotes and I've been nervous to launch it not sure why but this week it will be live!
Thanks also I need to look into amazon links
Absolutely amazing! I love how you have me thinking like a business man as well as having fun with it all. I will be getting a new laptop this week and putting it to work!! Thank you!!
Added Amazon Links to my Stream setup page on my website. That's the first thing. More to come. Thank you Harris for keeping me accountable.
Thank you for all the advice.
Just getting started, and you’ve made a great map with your content on how to get from hobby to full fledged content creator.
For now just make more videos.
I have only been Streaming for 9 Weeks and I added a Merch Store. Ordered my own merch to display on live stream. Thanks Harris
Setting up the merch store makes lots of sense....been seeing it in streamelements and was thinking of setting it up when my channel gets bigger but gonna set it up this week ..thanks alot man
Thank you for sharing this with us. To get to see your channel completely take off has been an inspiration!
I definitely needed to hear this i was feeling down about my growth but coming back to your vids really refocused and reset me
I've wanted to do youtube more specifically, but content creation as a whole for more than 10 years maybe, me being a teen at the moment, had my first paycheck a couple of weeks back, bought a microphone without hesitation.
Always inspiring, thank you Harris! I’m glad to share that I’ve been working on a website and it launches on august 4th.
My to do list:
1- Relearn FB advertising and possibly restart my Social Media Ad business
2- Use that knowledge for content on a skillshare account
3- Finally decide to work on merch
4- Learn both Photography and video editing to better myself and my growing stream
5- Learn about Amazon Affiliation
Amazing video! While I already have multiple income streams this video is a great reminder for me to focus on my art and making more passive income streams instead of my 4832902 jobs. That being said, my passive income goals for now are merch and selling premade twitch badges!
I hope this channel kicks ass and doesn't die dude! It's incredibly helpful.
Thank you for all of your amazing contributions Harris, love ya man!
Aww man it's crazy seeing how many people just needed that tiny little push and seeing how much it brought them.
Probably the best eye opener video on RUclips fact!!! 👍🏻
Will create a Merch store today! Thanks for the insights, great vid as usual. Love your vibe!
Thank you for all, the help and support you give to everyone. its awesome to see some one giving back.
Merch store, Amazon prime. All if it babe. Good stuff love ur stuff!
Just starting out. The more I research the more I realize the potential.
I already set up Amazon affiliate links this week! But im always working on the next step because of You! Thank you for being my motivation!
