Top Ten Evil Versions of Fighting Game Characters

- Ever wonder what would happen if one of the good guys in a story was evil? Well, fighting games give us the opportunity to see that sometimes. In this video, I go over some of my favorite evil and nefarious versions of not-so-evil characters in their respective series. To be clear, these are chracters that have their own spot on the roster (selectable or hidden) with unique aspects to their moveset, preferably with some different moves, but they can just have different properties to their fighting style.

Evil Ryu: "Violence...is who I am!"
Little correction: Orochi Leona don't laughs. She scream like a wild beast. This always give me the impression that she was in a condition of primal rage and extreme pain at the same time.
Well he's wrong about a few things. But yes, that's one of them. Leona snarls in primal power unleashed, yells in anguish and inner conflict, and even gives a cat like yowl in place of her taunt past. The latter seeming like a moment of the blood riot weakening in momentary lapse of her mind coming back to partial control.
All of this however has now folded into an all but spoken of mastered control. She only has brief flash moments of red hair in some moments like an after fight pose.
Her mastering of the blood just might make her a the surprise answer to the brooding conflict to come future vs the evil spoken of in the scrolls Geese had stolen now decades ago.
The very same scrolls that had made him the nightmare of dreams and now returned seemingly from death, falling from the tower not once, but twice.
Look forward to the next King of Fighters. The tournament comes sooner than you think.
So too does the Orochi with the other pieces of the puzzle coming back into play.

I don't think she's evil tho. The few games she ever appeared in, her bio usually states she still fights Shadowloo. So despite the appearance, I don't think she's actually evil.

Bison, Akuma & Seth all wanted Ryu to give into the Satsui No Hado and show his power, but not GILL.
In the main games, at least.
The Street Fighter Unlimited comics is an exception, though. But that's a different canon.
reverse23 I loved the Street Fighter Unlimited Comic. Gill actually fought both Evil Ryu AND ONI and Gill DEFEATED THEM BOTH. Later on, Gill actually took over Alex's body and became "Gillix" Ryu balanced the Satsui No Hado AND the Power of Nothingness to become Shin Ryu. Shin Ryu defeated Gillix and Oni!

She's actually a daughter of one of Orochi Warriors, which is her dad (not sure his name, Gaibel or Gaidel?). He got killed after Goenitz awaken Leona's riot blood.

Shadow Labrys's persona is the bloody Minotaur of Greek mythos.
And her instant kill is dragging the unfortunate victim into the Labyrinth

We've seen so many evil characters that I'd kind of like to see the opposite: Benevolent Dictator, Hero Heihachi, Soul-saving Shang Tsung.

Evil Ryu isn't interesting as a character. Ryu represents the journey; he doesn't fight to defeat his opponent, he fights to grow as a person. He's a metaphor for the player.
Evil Ryu is just another edgy re-skin for a character that already exists....if Ryu represents the ever-growing veteran, evil Ryu represents the salty, entitled, edgelord noob.

Dark Samus being listed as "Samus but evil" doesn't make a lot of sense as it's a completely different character that you know, it doesn't fit any criteria you mentioned.
It's not even samus, it's a hell alien that krept into one of her suits and is trying to kill her.

Unknown is not an evil version of previous fighter . She's Jun's lost sister that is possesed by forest spirit .

Akuma was already "evil" it's more like Ryu and Kage aka evil ryu
SW_ Kuma Yeah. you know....that makes Akuma similar to Terumi from Blazblue series who had multiple forms: Hazama, Terumi himself & Susanoo.

SW_ Kuma Terumi is kind of like Lucifer in a way. One of the greatest people who fell from grace.
And to think that Terumi was actually the god Takehaya Susanoo who was Amaterasu's brother.
Eh, Shin Akuma is just Akuma when he's not holding back any more.
To be fair, Dark Samus is a clone of Samus made from this type of radiation in the Metroid universe, and Dark Pit is a clone made from a mirror or something

yeah I know but when pit breaks the mirror Pandora says that it was supposed to be The darkside of pit but because of his love for palutena and his want to protect her dpit becomes a good guy in the chaos kin mission. But then in smash when you perform palutena's guidance on dpit it reveals that Dpit is now working for viridi.
Dark Samus is not technically a clone though. It is Metroid Prime revived by the radiation and some of Samus's DNA. And using one of Samus's old armor as a body.

My favorites got to be Evil Ryu, Sunburned Sakura and of course Jun/Unknown. When Tekken Tag 2 came out and they announced Unknown as playable, I lost my mind. I always have this lingering wish for her to be canon.

Dark Samus isn't an alien possesing her suit, that's SA-X. Dark Samus is a being made of pure phazon that came into existence after Samus came in contact with it for the first time. It's body and powers are only made to resemble Samus's suit, not Samus herself. It also isn't made from any part of her suit

Decapre wasn't the only clone of Cammy in Street Fighter. Juni & Juli from Alpha 3 are Cammy clones too.
Basically all the other Shadowloo Dolls as well, but a little less "clony" than those u mentioned
They're not clones per se. They were their own selves before being kidnapped by shadowloo and there's semblance of having their own personality once released from Bison (Juli being found by T.Hawk and Juni being protected by Cammy). I guess that's why they wouldn't fit the list.

@@SnakeInTheRain When a character is absent from a series, everyone wants them back...however, once they finally get their wish, they don't remain as popular once they make it to the roster MOST of the time. If Nina or Asuka wasn't in Tekken 6 or 7...many more people would vote for them to return.
Nina and Asuka aren't my favourites but they're popularity is easily higher than most of the other females. Jin doesn't have much of a personality but he's incredibly popular. Ryu doesn't have much of a personality and he's incredibly popular. Most of the characters who doesn't have much personality are usually the most popular. Sub-zero, Scorpion, Ryu Hayabusa, Kasumi, Jago, Sol Badguy, etc. And yeah, there are characters who are popular and have charisma, but it's not as big as characters who does not.
@@SnakeInTheRain Her popularity will die down once she's finally in the game just like every other requested character. All in all, she's cool but she wouldn't make my Top 5 females in Tekken list.

I will give you props for including Mu-12 in this since I really enjoy playing as her in the BlazBlue series just like her base form since Noel is my favorite female video game character but aside from that out of all the characters on this list, Mu's the only alternate form who eventually became a hero as Noel accepted that Mu is her true self and even after separating from each other in Central Fiction's story mode, they became one again since it was the only way for Noel to regain her memories and learn that she was recreated by the girl inside the Master Unit, Amaterasu aka The Origin and eventually was reborn as Ragna and Jin's younger sister, Saya after absorbing Mu-12, Hades Izanami and the body of The Origin but decided to called Noel instead of Saya.

errr the evil ryu in sf4 come from the manga, the sf3 manga. at the end of story when ryu fight goki in the final battle he manage to see through the secret of goki's demon rage move. from all of hundred attack at once there is only one real brutal attack. and he stop it with his chest...yup his chest and it give a big hole on his chest before he defeat goki in the end (in the story goki also die in this fight). and yeah you can guess..........there is two ending. the first one ryu overcome the evil energy and completely clean from it, when the second end he become the new satsui no hado user who much more stronger than goki.
*ps* i not sure about Oni (goki) but from what i heart Oni form is what goki gain "if" he survive from the fight in the end of sf3 manga.
Big brain opinion, Roa is literally the only good character in the Melty series.

You should've done more with Dark Samus, it's actually Phazon Samus, created separately from Samus, but with some of her DNA and suit tech. Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 tell the story.

Glad to hear that! It's flattering to think that my channel has inspried other to make videos, so good luck! Also, the live actions parts in the Fukua segment were not Judgment Meter, but actually from a series of videos on the Voices of Gaming channel where the Skullgirls voice actresses played their characters' story modes and matches against each other. That's when Fukua's voice actress Christine Marie Cabanos was playing. I just found those scenes funny. That being said, Filia/Fukua and Judgment Meter sound alike and people have said Judgment Meter has a good voice for anime dubs (which Cabanos does a lot of).

Talks about how Dark Pit is a side character in one game, but doesn't mention how Dark Samus is the main antagonist in the Metroid Prime Trilogy....

What I hate about a "evil" version of a known hero character is when the evil guy's attacks are still the same damage level as the hero so why do a evil version, right?? Aren't the bad versions supposed to be more dark and brutal??

Jin does not fall into this category (at least for me) since his moves are basically Jin's original move back in Tekken 3 before they permanently changed it to Kyokushin Karate (real-life Karate) in Tekken 4. His T3 moves were too powerful, to the point where Devil Jin was considered by many Tekken pros as S tier character since his introduction (Tekken 5) to this day, even with all the nerfs.
Dark Samus is not an evil version of Samus it is essentially Metroid Prime using Samus's old armor as a shell.
If Nightmare does n't count as an evil version then neither should Dark Samus.
I am surprised you didnt mention Darkstalkers Donovan/Dee or Morrigan / Lilith or even Bishamon / oni Bishamon. They were awesome in their own right. Capcom needs to bring this series back NOW.

ALSO, You know that characters like Noel, Tsubaki, & Jin all have ONE alternate form:
1. Noel: Mu 12
2. Tsubaki: Izayoi
3. Jin: Hakumen
(Lambda and Nu are clones)
MEANWHILE, there where THREE forms of TERUMI: Hazama, Yuuki Terumi himself & Takehaya Susano'o(Terumi's true form).
Lambda-11 was never evil, and Nu-13 is not evil, just crazy, and both are their own characters all three of them were clones of Saya but at the same time they weren't actually Saya, same as how X-23 is a clone of Wolverine but at the same time she is not simply a female James Howlett. Only Mu-12 was the evil version or a good character.

@@joshualowe1821 Hazama is an artificial human made based on Kazuma(one of the six heroes), in order to be Terumi's host. Unlike Kazuma Hazama was never good, actually he was never anything, Hazama's personality was shaped by Terumi's presence, and he only became his own person after Terumi left his body. As for Susanoo he is Terumi, just without the lies and the masks. He was never a good version. Terumi was a neutral being whose job was to be the reset button for Amaterasu, he got tired of his job and wanted to live freely so he abandoned his original body in oder to live as he wanted, but he is a being whose main purpose is to cause destruction, you can easily understand why is he so twisted. He was never a proper human being from the start. This is a case of neutral gone bad, so it's quite possible to interpret him as a villain from the start, because he only went evil when he stopped being a marionette
Man as a kid i used to eat these kinds of characters up, i loved the alternate "evil" versions of characters in fighting games, nowadays tho they honestly seem a little unnecessary and lazy to me. I'm talking about the ones that are pretty much clones of the original with a few different moves and slightly altered look, Noob doesn't really count in my opinion since he's basically a completely different character.

TRIVIA: That last scene in Fukua's ending is a reference to the final scene of the original run of Twin Peaks. Annie even appears in the mirror.

She's like Samus but with longer dodge frames and worse reach. Still wondering how people thought she was better than the original. The Smash community baffles me.
Correcting a little with leona's animations. She has two versions. Her original apparition in kof 97 and later in 98 did have new expressions in almost all her animations. Plus all her voicelines were replaced with grunts and screams. The other version is from kof 2002 and in that version they just kept the iddle and running animations to save space. You can tell them appart from the color. 97' orochi leona has pink hair while the 2002 leona has blood red hair and dark skin.
No 1: LTG and DSPhil. Phil being a whitewashed LTG.
So the mk guy who was his own entity entirely counted but not nightmare? Riiiiiiiight....
I like Labrys, but i think the coolest counterpart in Arena is Adachi who mirrors Yu Narukami and has the badass Magatsu Izanagi.

Boo! You left out Shen Long from Bloody Roar! He actually has a full back story, he has unique moves and super attacks, and a new appearance/costume. Add to that the Bloody Roar series is one of the best early 00's fighting games that has been forgotten.
I'm miffed at the oversimplification of Dark Samus, her impact is massive in the Prime series lore.
Pyrrha and Omega movesets are not to reflect their personalities, well, could be, but the main reason is the same as why Patroklos Alpha exists, they are there to fill the gaps left by characters that are missing from previous games. Pyrrha / Omega are Sophitia and Cassandra, and Patroklos Alpha is Setsuka "stop using your mother's style Patroklos, to defeat evil you must find your own style" -> proceeds to be a Setsuka clone lmao
