- Today we're finally taking a closer look at the new COBB AP for the 22 WRX, The COBB Accessport has been the go to tuning tool for Subarus for 2 decades now! (man time flies when you're having fun). So we've been itching to test out their latest one for the new WRX. We're going to take our WRX to the dyno talk about the results and time some draggy runs to get some real world comparisons.

I wish someone would break down the costs of what can go wrong using this tuner and what the cost would be with voided warranty.
Don’t do anything with you car then bro
You are doing such a good job!!! Great videos!
Hold up, R we voiding warranties? I need answers. VB owner here.
if you retune the car yes. if you simply want more information available to you and to be able to run logs and know whats going on, then no. SOA won't back ya with a retune if anything happens.
@@wak3oarder don't lie to people 😂 your flash it you're warranty is gone
Most of us on the forums are sticking with the jb4 or stock
I don’t get why Subaru added beehive valve springs if they aren’t gonna put ‘em to use. When I hit 6k rpm it feels like it wants more
It definitely does, if Cobb was able to bump it up to 6300rpm on a conservative tune I can see 7k being an easy possibility without opening anything up
Because most people don’t go above 5500 that is why.
Great video and very informational!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who said "Hey Ernie" after the into.
Great video, though. I'm 2 years out from the warranty.. when it's up I'll have one of these. Thanks for the review!
Great video. Keep it up
Do you know if the access port can be unplugged after loading so it looks stock?
Thanks for the reply
Yup!
Are you on the 91 octane map or 93?
91! 93 does not exist In Utah
@@rallysportdirect There was one place in the valley that did in West Jordan. Not sure if it still does. But the elevation in Salt Lake City would make 93 octane pointless.
I have a 2018 STI and am totally new to tunes. I am looking for a bit more lower end torque and less turbo lag. Would a Cobb Stage 1 be sufficient and/or pose any issues? Car is bone stock BTW. I got quoted from a reputable place to get a tune on their dyno w/ the addition of an intake carb legal, boost control solenoid and intake box but that runs me over $1,500 and I don't know if it's reversible if I don't like it. Nor do I want to spend that much, especially not knowing what it would be like. It's also my daily driver. Also we only have 91 octane gas out here. At least it's hard to find anything higher so would be wildly inconvenient if need higher octane. Any advice you or anyone else has would be beyond appreciated. Thanks
Don’t go with the OTS stage 1 tune too long as it will damage your car long term. Get an e tune with a good tuner. You probably should just install an intake and everything else yourself. That way you can remove it if you want to. If you are too scared just don’t even bother, keep it stock.
Can you do the JB4 the same as this test?
I mean theoretically yes, but jb4 results would vary greatly person to person depending on tune, ethanol content, etc..
6:40 had me laughing, especially when you put the seatbelt on 😂😂😂
ur 2022 subi stock? so did u put a base map on it ?
We have a catback but that’s it engine wise, and yes we were comparing base map vs stage1
What about the economy map, what kind of mpg can you get?
Our social media guy drove from Vegas to St.George on the stage 1 91 and averaged 24MPG, then from St.George to Salt Lake City he drove on the economy map and averaged 28MPG.
that cobb is radio active shield your nuts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where's the old guy at? i miss him
Nah that guy is silly 🤣
Silly indeed 🤣
@@RickC.11 ayyyy Rick!!! u still work for RSD?
@@heazy87 I’m over at northridge4x4 but I’m still around :)
This is the best review I've seen for the Cobb tuner/'22 WRX yet. Great job.
Let me take a wild guess- can't be shipped to CA residents? 😒
It can be shipped, in California it’s for “off-road use only” however.
You can’t use it in the city? I’m new to all this
Please turn the music down or off! Thank you!
Bro we all about voiding our Warrantys , that gos away if you are into Modds for your Vehicle,,, otherwise leave it stock
cobb is advertising 300WHP is is NOWHERE color to that number wtf? also why do you test that 91 oct junk instead of 93?
I don't think they have 93 there
There’s no 93 here and we heatsoaked so we couldn’t get there since the car makes peak hp up there in the rev range
... Also... Where does COBB advertise 300? I've used their stuff for a long time, they rarely promote HP numbers. They usually list % gains because each location and dyno will have consistent % changes but can start at significantly different base HP numbers.
Idk about voiding the warranty for 12whp/25tq looks like it made it run better, but I'm retaining that warranty there's been too many turbo/engine failures recent to risk it
Wait huh what? Would you have a link or source for those failures?
You can't just look at peak HP and tq. You gotta look at the gains across the whole rpm range. Big improvement with the tune.
In all fairness- that’s the 91 tune he’s on, not 93. The 93 sees around 330 at the wheels I believe
Map 0 is slower than the Outback
Where would I follow the prime motoring build
@primemotoring on Instagram or their Facebook page they don’t seem to post anything about it on RUclips.
Is this what passes for a man these days? Clint Eastwood is rolling in his grave, and he isn't even dead yet!
You mean the guy who talks to empty chairs on stage? What an odd comment bro.
