Got a base last week. I don't want to risk the warranty so I'm sticking to little things. Shift stop, brass bushing, drop in filter, maybe some wrap here and there. Love the car so far. The Arctic white looks so good, I never thought I'd get a white car. Makes the cladding fit the color scheme.
I thought the contrast in the silver was really nice. I ended up going with the gray metallic because it blended in the fenders better, but it was less basic than black.

Mine came with weather mats and some other dealer options - sun shade, STI knob, vortex generator, trunk mat, rear seat protector. I wouldn't have bought them but all are useful. Tint would be cool. Im running 20psi on E30 with the JB4. Once tuners get ahold of these it will get much more impressive than the OTS map. Though personally I will be sticking with the JB4 for awhile as we have seen it is not detectable by the dealer once removed.
Jb4 was always solid for me, used it on alfas, infinitis, audis, tons of bmws. Cobb is cool too, used on a few FBO stis and GTRs. Couldnt use either on my evo but love to see it make it full circle to the wrx. You guys are doing great with the car!
I’d love to do this on my 22 but I bought the extended warranty (7 year/100k miles, it was 4K and got it for 1.5k) so sadly I’ll probably pass on this cause if I were to and something ended up going wrong, say bye bye to that warranty folks, you’re on your own! Youch

@@yongkim7931 Cobb tunes only work with cobb parts so probably wouldn't recommend it. ETS claims intake doesn't require tune though. I'd say monitor your AFR levels and play it from there.

I got it mainly for the east coast weather. But I do know they have said before that the cvt has an over hearing problem. Especially with the 8 speed in my outback. I’ve notice and complained about it before that I’d rather own a manual the way it acts but dealers don’t care to help

The cvt is still plenty quick, but lacks soul and in the us, has dependability issues. The engine is tuned differently in the wrx and requires premium fuel. One thing to note, the xt models have an oil cooler for the cvt. (I do believe. That’s how they get better towing numbers and handle the torque) i atleast know for sure the wilderness has it. So it’s should last ok heat wise, as long as you change the fluid every 30k or more in the cvt. The crosstrek has a manual fyi.
Instead of spending extra $$ on the premium which would be nice, we decided that since we are going to modifythe car anyways, the money towards buying the premium can go towards more mods!

Having trouble finding a local AWD Dyno to toss it on and get new numbers since finishing the map. I tossed my latest logs on the Virtual Dyno and that said 271, but take that with a grain of salt. Car is stock other than the JB4 and Catback currently. After the holidays I plan to do some more.

I paid 35K for my premium 22 WRX with 4.7% APR with an 800 credit score, so that's already a better deal than mine. It comes with summer tires btw, so if you're going to the snow don't risk those tires! Get cables or get different tires. I learned my lesson in Utah
All depends on how it’s tuned and if the parts are quality. When running more power you must change out weak parts. And really, a pro tune is the way to go for reliability. The truth is. The engineering that goes into the vehicle as it ships is it’s most reliable form, aside from weak parts that were cost saving and can be user upgraded (like the oil pickup in the 4th gen ej)
I get the whole aspect of driving your car and not babying it. But what about your breaking.? Really, in terms of longevity, shouldn’t you take it easy for that first thousand miles?
From our knowledge and previous experience we don't really believe in the break in period because usually when the cars are off the lot from the factory they tend to test everything.

Don't just go crank up the boost without supporting mods. 1st, let the first wave ap driver to figure out the limit of the engine. 2nd, the clutch + tranny are only rated for the current torque and power output. What I gathered is that the tranny is retrofitted from the last gen, last gen's transmission is made out of Swiss cheese. 3rd, high boost can introduce blow by, you don't want your engine to burn oil. 4th, the second you flashed your ecu, you would void your warranty. Do not be that wrx driver.

Always hook up a battery charger when doing this. If the battery dies, you just bricked your ecu

I went from a 21 FBO Flex VA to a 22. Even stock the 22 feels like the better car. Since doing the JB4 even more so.
