  • In this video, I take my completely stock 2023 WRX to our friends at Drift Office in Auburn, WA to get a baseline on the dyno. Then we add a Cobb Accessport with the stage 1 tune, just to see what actual gains we get!
    Shoutout to Drift Office for allowing us to film this in their shop!

    I have a 2023 model of one of these. I love it. Lots of potential to tune it. I like it the way it is. It pulls hard. It’s a solid fun car!

    Black wrx is nice. I haven’t seen many. I have sapphire blue. Really like the car. My first subi always wanted one. I would’ve bought the black if they had it.

      Bought the car in black knowing it will eventually be wrapped. Black is a great base to start with! That Sapphire blue is a nice color though as well!

      I went with black as well on my 2023 WRX Premium. It's a little harder to keep clean, but I don't mind it being a little dirty -- its a WRX. Happy with it stock for now but it's sure tempting seeing what can be done with a few bolt-ons and a tune.

    How many more HP will I get if I install a spoiler? Just curious.( it’s a JOKE). Great video. Thank you. I’m truly afraid to pull the trigger on my 2023. I’m afraid of bricking the ECU.

    • @rafael502
      @rafael502 Год назад +1

      As long as you follow the install instructions on the manual and tuner itself, (and ensure you update it with the latest firmware/maps on your computer before you install), you should have no issues at all. I did it recently and it was a very smooth process.

      @rafael502 I made the mistake of watching "Street inspired" video where it killed his ecu. Here. ruclips.net/video/OJsELeR9SdE/видео.htmlsi=c-pt3r2VHI0l7bLj

      Spoilers add another 50 whp for sure. ;-)
      As @rafael502 said, just follow the instructions as it's very easy to do. The chance of you bricking the ECU is highly unlikely unless you're doing something really wrong, or if battery power is real low.

      @@themodgarage thanks very much for the response. I'm definitely going to go for it if it's just a matter of when to pull the trigger. I will definitely attach the battery to a charger as they suggest in case

    Hi ! Are you able to re upload the factory tune after you do the 91 tune ?

    • @themodgarage
      @themodgarage  Год назад +1

      Yep! You can always change maps on the Accessport back to stock if you'd like. Their Stage 0 map allows you to still use the Accessport without actually tuning the ECU. But once you uninstall the AP it will return the vehicle back to the OEM map as well. That's why in the beginning when you install the AP, it saves all the factory ECU data.

    I have a 2023 and a AP on the way. If I don’t have the 2023 maps how do you update to the unit to get 2023 maps
    3:44 on the vid is that AP connected to the laptop and then download from Cobb site? Is it easy to do?

    • @themodgarage
      @themodgarage  Год назад +1

      Very easy fix. Download Accessport Manager software from Cobbs website, it's free. Just plug in your new AP with the supplied micro USB cable and it should pop up showing it needs an update immediately. Finish the update, and the maps will be loaded to your AP. Then you can install onto the vehicle no problem just as I did in the video. Hope that helps.

      Yes, both the baseline and the run after the tune were on the Dyno, so measured straight at the wheels. In the video, it was ran on a Dyno Jet, on about a 70 degree day, not far up from sea level if that matters to anyone. The most important part is not what the numbers were, but the difference between before and after. 12 hp and 33 ft.lb. torque gain from only the tune!

    Power gain was a bit disappointing, you might have gained 10 more whp on a 93 tune

    • @LAAO369
      @LAAO369 Год назад +7

      How is it disappointing? Gained 30 lb/ft of torque on a off-shelf tune with a completely stock car. These tunes aren’t intended to blow up a car. Sure, high octane may give you like 7-8 more hp and double that for torque but it’s a solid tune. Enough to feel a difference.

    • @themodgarage
      @themodgarage  Год назад +1

      Horsepower gain wasn't much (12 hp) but the torque was pretty good and you can feel it through the RPM range. If we had 93 pump gas around here, we'd be able to use that map which I'm sure would net a little more power. Gotta work with what we have though unfortunately. :-(

    • @OviWanKeno9i

      I agree. I was looking around for WRX tuning videos. I used to have a 2013 STI and did full bolt on, protune, and it was pretty decent and very fun. It was expensive to make power though. Then I bought an Audi A6 3.0T and a software tune was like another 100 hp. I changed the SC pulley and a radiator and got another 100 hp. It's rough in Subie world when you want to increase power and it's frustrating now that I know what others can do.
