Great video, great car. Seeing how great this new platform is, just for a base WRX model, I can’t help but feel so cheated out of what the last gas powered Sti could have been.
We knew this was coming. It'll be cool to see more about the FA24 and how it holds up under some good power, like 500+ hp. Thanks for sharing this content, Josh 👍
Do they still throw a code with the j pipe upgrade? I have a VB and the tuner here warned me they will throw a code with a few of the available j pipes here
What’s the gas mileage with the pro tune on 92 octane, still waiting to see someone do a perrin top mount with solid charge pipe and the drop in air filter on the dyno with and without a j pipe.
I was extremely disappointed when you chose to not do more FA20 content. There are a large number of us who would love to see someone as experienced as yourself really push the FA platform to see what it's really capable of. However, it is really exciting to see some more FA content, even if it is the FA24. I'm on MoTeC now and I've been considering a swap. As soon as IAG or Outfront are offering stronger blocks, I'm making the swap for sure. Let's send this thing to the moon!!
@@deej628Back when he sold the WRX he purchased to do FA20 content. He had an engine he was working on for the car and some other upgrades. Then he sold it all and said that he wasn't going to focus on FA20 content.
I'm almost done with my 2018 build. I had my FA20F built to handle around 800hp. I have the Motec M142. I can see myself swapping in an FA24 down the road. I can see this becoming more popular the more knowledge that's gained with the FA24 engines.
@@2018wrxaddict Sounds like you have a similar build to mine. We wrapped mine up last week. I'm in the process of getting it tuned right now. Good luck with your build! Are you in any of the facebook groups? I'd love to see your results.
Wait everyone on Reddit is saying these things make like 320-340whp with just a tune. This thing has jpipe, intercooler and intake + protune and is only making 290whp/tq? I'm confused.
I would personally suggest an AOS or Catch Cans on most DIT engines. As for winter it will really depend on how cold your winter is(I am in socal so no issues there). Perrin does include a sponge insert in their AOS to prevent that issue. Otherwise Dual Catch Cans would be a good alternative, just gotta get in the habit of draining em on each oil change.
We have dual catch cans on our FA20 and in winter in the north east you really need to check it every two weeks or so. I caught it full once but before it could cause an issue. Its mostly just water vapor and fuel anyways, minimal oil. In summer it can go months... not much bypassing, but that's a good thing.
Is there really a reason that the cold start cycle is so aggressive on the FA WRXs? I've had it to where the oil was at 150 degrees and started the car and it took almost 2 minutes for it to allow me to drive normally without it trying to maintain the cold start while coasting or shifting.
How did you learn to tune im trying to learn or go to school but I just don’t know where to start. My tuner is good but not great I would love to not have to worry about paying 700$ to get a quick tune. Any suggestions?
Very cool, but! It's the same, sorry ass trans from the last WRX. I've already had mine rebuilt. This motor needs a STI Trans to make power, unfortunately.
Let’s be serious here. Who gets a COBB AP and then actually goes and get a pro tune lol. 90% of the people just flash on their stage two and leave it at that and then wonder why their car blows up lol.
No matter how much horse power you've got, if you can't shift the proper timing and quickness, then all you can say is blame the car somethings wrong.🙄
