Things I got wrong in this video (since I dislike spreading bad information) : There IS a unit veteran system, it's listed on the unit card but it's a little hidden and easy to miss. There's also the trade system which i neglected to get to where you can barter and swap materials with the other players. Sorry about that folks!
You should probably pin the comment to make sure more people see it, cheers for the corrections mate!
cool
Also Spice is not just a "drug" it allows interstellar travel, so who controls the Spice, controls the universe.
There is also more than just one movie, and the fremen were never black.
@@ianallen738 even if they weren’t, it’s not a bad thing that they portrayed them that way in this movie. It would make sense for the indigenous people on a dessert planet to be of a darker complexion. But if it’s not accurate to the book that happens in most book to movie translations.
Actually, the Emporer feared House Atraides because they were a threat to the throne, so he set them up by sending them to Arakas, then helped Harkonnen destroy Leo's house.
Holy shit, your spelling just killed half of my brain.
And look how well that worked out for him in the end. :D
WHO'S HOUSE? OH NO
@@lazaruslong697 To be fair, who would have guessed that the grandson of the Atreides duke will fuse himself with baby worms and become basically a god.

I remember when the original Dune 2 came out in the early 90s. I would literally play the game days at a time. It was quite revolutionary, the first modern RTS.
yes, all that individual unit movement. no box select. took a lot of micro to orchestrate an attack.
Same, dune 2 and command and conquer were the best.
@@IonShard yeah, its a damn crime the original dune2 devs didnt have access to a time machine so they could get it perfect on the first attempt)
(29:00) In the novels, there are weapons called "slow-pellet stunners" that can shoot projectiles slow enough to get through shields, but they're unreliable, and the pellet itself doesn't do much damage because it has to be going so slow (although they are often poisoned).
They show it in the newest movie. It's what Leto gets shot with.
Or you go for a head shot. Idaho got one of those, but the pile of bodies around him likely attracted fire.
@@jmur3040 The older movie had one kill Idaho with a headshot. The shields were much better in the latest movie, as far as how they worked and them being usable in enclosed areas only, but the distorted and blocky effect that the older movie had looked really cool and they had penetrating shields requiring a slow, forceful thrust to get through. This is why the martial arts the Fremin were taught by Jessica and attacking in the open air made them such a terror of the desert.
@@KnightsWithoutATable A lucky headshot never hurts.
Yeah, "slow-pellet stunners" are literally just firearms. Using normal real-life bullets to get through energy shields is a common theme in that era of sci-fi, though I'm uncertain where it started (it very well could have been Dune).
It doesn't matter at all in terms of whether or not you would enjoy the game, but the spice is more than just space cocaine. In the lore the spice is what allows the Spacing Guild Navigators to modify their own DNA to gain the ability to see the near-term future. And this ability is what makes interstellar fold-space travel possible to achieve safely. There's more to it than that but that is why the spice is the most valuable commodity in the empire.
"The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel."
- Princess Irulan, 'Dune'.
Yeah, it's more like Space Oil than Space Cocaine. It's the resource needed to move around in space effectively.
The original Dune was a cornerstone for the RTS genre, and those games have long been slumbering in the industry. I think players might have been expecting a modern version of those games and it's going to result in players not finding what they were looking for.
I feel this. When I first saw the thumbnail I was thinking this might be a remake of the old dune game. However, I'm not sure that's going to be the case for those five or more years younger.
Well there is an HD remaster of dune 2000 that even introduced some improvements. Maybe that is what you looking for: m.ruclips.net/video/yNl0hY_h0ws/видео.html
i feel like homeworld : desert of kharak's gameplay would have been a better fit than northguard
@@AdlerMow They definitely weren't. Dune 2000 is not the game they were talking about. It's a half-baked remake of the sequel of the game they were talking about.
I thought it was going to be a remake originally, myself. But to be honest I feel that the original style has been done and improved upon by other games, eventually culminating in Starcraft II and it would be very hard for them to really do the same game (again) and do it in a way that was better, or innovative vs what else is available. And it has been tried many times. I'm actually glad to see them try a different approach instead.
at ~3:20 just a clarification, that may also shine new light when rewatching the movie, there are a lot of houses/dynasies in the imperium, and Atreides are getting some sick gains and the emperor doesn't like it one bit, so the whole "kicking out harkonen out of arrakis" thing was mostly a trap set by the emperor to wipe the atreides, making it look like he had nothing to do with that. It's not that the harkonen have a grudge (although they are like the #1 enemies of Atreides, both families are somewhat linked)
@@Axvil Illegitimate Daughter that did not know her parentage, yes
The relationship between the Atreides and Harkonnen is called Kanly - a formalized, multi-generational blood feud between families with strict rules that lasts until one bloodline is completely dead or they find some way to resolve it. Kanly with the Harkonnen has been going on for hundreds of years. It's probably why the Baron is so adamant that no Atreides survives the attack even if it means disobeying the Bene Gesserit, an organization far more powerful than a Landsraad great house.
@@loganwolfram4216 and seems to go back to a battle in the past where a Harkonnen abandoned the Atreides. It's a single reference to an incident of cowardice though so it's hard to say that's all its about.
Lady Jessica is the only Mother I want to see stuck in a dryer, or "accidentally" glued to a desk, or walks in on me while I'm "petting Shai-Hulud".
@@loganwolfram4216 Not hundreds of years, thousands.
The incident Ceri is hinting at is the Battle of Corrin (if I'm not mistaken), in which the reasonable Harkonnen didn't want to attack a human meat shield to end the war against the machines whereas the slightly deranged Atreides did. Harkonnen was relieved from duty and branded as a coward for his refusal to carry out the order.
15 thousand years later, they still angy.
Book is definitely worth a read/listen (if you do audio books). It has a really interesting plot point that's really difficult to capture in the movies and games. The movies and games emphasize the traditional military and territorial conflicts you see in so many other franchises. The book, on the other hand, is more about seeing the future and the struggle to manipulate events to guarantee the future they want.
I should add one of the best narrated audio books I have heard
I tried to read this book in my 20s and put it down. It wasn't the political stuff it was the tropes. It was the main character who just seemed to be the writers personal insert fantasy. Young, perfect, "the chosen one", and if I remember the first man (gasp) to be the most powerful of witches (forgive me, forget the name). The bad guy was a mixture of a Saturday morning cartoon and Stan. I respect the book for getting a lot of people into science fiction. I also don't want to take away anyone's fun. Do the characters become more interesting later on? I'd like to give it another try especially with the new hype.
@@bluepsiongamer4909 No, I wouldn't say that the characters possess much depth. It's the themes and concepts that make the book interesting, not the characters.
@@clovermite Thank you :)
@@bluepsiongamer4909 I can't say much without spoiling, but the Dune books are very self aware, Paul is a messianic Gary Stu in the start that is ironically blindsided by his own ability to see the future later, the subsequent books deal with his failures as well as his arrogance and his narrow perspective. The characters are less like usual sci-fi characters and more like some platonic debaters that are there to challenge the main characters, as well as the readers perspectives and assumptions, making you double question if you're being manipulated like the characters in the book.
I'm super glad you covered this. ^^ And sietch is pronounced like See aych you can search youtube for A Guide to Dune Words, to hear it pronounced by Frank himself. You may not have given Spice enough credit. It really isn't covered well enough in the movie, but spice enables safe FTL travel, as well as extends life and enables good health. Folding space is the main source of interplanetary travel, and if you do it without a hopped up on spice Navigator, you have a 1/10 chance of not appearing where you want at best, at worst you pop up inside a star. The idea is you plot a course, and anything that might be in the way when you fold space you hit. Since it's pretty well instantaneous, you can't navigate around obstacles. So you need to see the future to jump safely, and that's where the Guild Navigators come into play.
Well said.
Thanks for the lore. =]
40k took this almost entirely as lore for themselves lol but still awesome
Good coverage :D one more point is those that are addicted to it (ie all the rich and powerful people) the withdrawal from it would kill them so there is a fair bit of incentive for a lot of them in the long term if stocks are reduced.
Frank also pronounces 'Chani' as 'Chainy' rather than 'Chah-nee' which...I just refuse to accept haha.
you missed the part where aside from being a hallucinogenic, the spice is also necessary for FTL. and that is why it is so valuable.

It feels weird for me to see Atreides in green livery in a Dune strategy game, because I associate that colour with the Ordos!
That's correct - Atreidies color should be blue or red (black red uniforms from book). The emblem should be the eagle, but you won't find it either. This is no longer Dune for me. It may be called Dune, but I can't find much of the book or legacy games lore here. The game concept is not bad at all, except I do not feel much about real Dune here.
Yeah the blue suits them much better. Also Fremen shouldn't have ornithopter scouts. It would make more sense for them to have a different unit
@@Eriadel you might have something mixed up. in the books the uniforms and banners are descibed as black and green. their emblem is a red hawk. I love to see them finally in their correct colors :)
I have yet to read the books, although my entire Dune game experience was coloured by Dune II, hence my colour associations! The changes in colour aren't a dealbreaker for me though, as I'd get used to them!
@@085AG What colour were the smugglers in the book? Also who are the smugglers, is it CHOAM?

This individual is correct in everything he just said.
Brace yourselves for all the Dune fanbois coming! I am one myself and am very glad you covered this :D
I like how the tiles aren't regular shapes, but have lots of ways to connect. Super cool idea.
Everytime I see the fakeLiet Kaynes, I die a little inside.
There was an old Dune game on Sega Genesis that my friends and I used to play all the time. Kinda reminds me of that.

Dune 2? Aka the grandfather of the RTS genre?
@@clovermite It was just Dune, not Dune 2 that I remember. Hell I was... in 6th grade I think. But it was my first introduction to Dune and to RTS games.
@@IkariMadness Oh they changed the name for the Genesis port, I didn't know that
There was also a computer game that followed the points of the previous Dune movie made. I think the company Sierra made it. In the 90's sometime.
Spice isn't just "space drugs", it's basically oil and antibiotics rolled into one. With only one place able to produce them. Given how oil has dictated the course of many 20th and 21st century conflicts even though no country has a monopoly, Herbert was spot on and ahead of his time.
Herbert himself noted that CHOAM was his version of OPEC (though all the houses are shareholders of CHOAM which helps maintain a more limited degree of conflict between the houses along with the prohibition on atomics [all the major houses at least however have atomics hidden just in case too]), and yes it fits a similar place in society to oil except it's not a fuel. Longevity, expansion of consciousness, and a narcotic.
@@cericat Yes, absolutely, although at the abstract level it fulfils the same role as fuel, it's a consumable that is the dividing line between modes of transport that are orders of magnitude different in effectiveness. You either have access or you aren't relevant. The HOW of it being consumed doesn't change its role in politics, although obviously it plays a fairly major role in the other themes of the book. (Which is one of the reasons the book and world-building is so unbelievably good! It's has so many layers.)
OMG yes!
Tortuga was so impressive and then I thought the game was broken when suddenly almost no characters were voiced at all anymore.
Such a jarring shift.
Big fan of the lore. Would like to see more factions.
Ordos!
This is a smart adaptation, I'm glad to see the system of Northgard radiate into new franchise/universes as it is a strong and enjoyable base.
It's Northgard with a few more layers of depth on top!
However right now there are a couple of glaring issues with the game - I outlined a few of them in my video review
AWWWWWW YIS, and for not knowing the books you sure did nail the cliff notes version lol great vid!
I can't believe you've never seen the old school Dune movies. They will put you on the right path
Been awhile since I watched, but just wanted to give my appreciation for changing your style to this more informative overview of the games you're covering.
Having you understand and able to give an explanation of how the mechanics work makes for a much more enjoyable viewing experience, and much more useful in determining if I'm interested. Good stuff!
Interesting take. I actually feel the exact opposite. I much prefer when Splat goes in blind and I get to see him have first impressions of the game
@@plectro3332 I think that would be fine for a livestream format, but this is far more fair in giving the viewer an overview of the actual game.
Often before he would miss entire mechanics because he just hadn't given it his full attention yet.
I understand that if you're watching mostly just to watch him play games, that you likely would enjoy first reactions.
But I appreciate this channel for being actually useful in figuring out which games I should spend my money on.
To each their own.
Spice is needed for space travel. That's why it is so important.
God that Funcom/Conan memory hurt me...we're all damaged after that aren't we?
The kind of damage that time doesn't heal.

goes back further, they were responsible for the early worst MMO launch of history, Anarchy Online absolutely DISASTROUS launch that they screwed people yugely.
The Difference Between The Imperium In 40K And In Dune Is That In Dune The Empire Is Just The Dutch Empire In Space Doing Their Shenanigans With Spices As Usual Obliterating Natives In The Process Just To Get More S p i c e.
If The Dutch Managed To Colonize More Than Evryone Else And Conquered The World We Would Get The Dune Timeline.
In Chronological Order:
Eu4: Create Thicc Dutch Colonies
Vicky 2: Obliterate Other Empires
Hoi4: World Conquest
Stellaris: Become The Imperium And Then You Get Dune
I could deal with that, but then they'd make everyone ride bicycles and that's too much. I'm not wearing f-cking lycra.
The spice must flow so start harvesting that cinnamon and paprika spice as the Emperor of the known galaxy needs that kitchen cooking with flavors hours ago :3
DUNC! I've been watching gameplay on strategy dedicated channels and as a 4x player i'm excited. There is SOME limited RTS and micro - mostly avoiding worms and getting your ranged troops away from danger. It's still in EA but whats here is very solid and polished, I hope for some UI QOL improvements, more factions, and better differentiation of the Fremen and Smugglers
Yeah, the whole idea of the Spice was that it allowed the Navigators to pilot through FTL speeds, allowing shipping over vast distances. No Spice=no shipping=no goods and services, so whoever controls the Spice controls METRIC BOATLOADS of power over the markets. The Spice must flow...
Splat my dude, you absolutely MUST read Dune. Ranks up there with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in it's scope, and it's hands down one of my favorite books.
Mother Ramallo, it seems that the devs have taken inspiration in my last name, what a time to be alive.
The spice must flow.
THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
Dune: Grow your Drug empire, by fighting against other drug lords.
You make it sound like a bad thing?
Looks pretty much how I expected it from playing Northguard. I am unsure whether I should be disappointed or pleased.
Northguard is a very streamlined and ultimately simple game even though it throws some hurdles at the player. It definitely looks solid but I guess I was hoping for something more complex this time around?
I thought the same at first, but I am on my 6th game now (finally won my first game, on Easy and small map, one AI), and it actually has a lot of hidden depth. That's the problem the game is having, it's cover does not allow you to see what's in the book until you play it a lot. I was only able to win using a combination of military, special operations, and voting some debuffs on the enemy during a council meeting. It was pretty much the most interesting RTS'ish game I've played. And I also absolutely love the stately pace of the game.
I kinda feel the same, I have tried to like Northgard multiple times but it just feels like an unbalanced and boring board game
the Spice is necessary for intergalactic travel... and just happens to be sandworm poop ... THE SPICE MUST FLOW
"A Suk doctor, I'm not even gonna touch that one, too easy"... Good for you Splat, Good for you...
I dunno if I'd call Atreides the good guys. Protagonist maybe. Paul was just trying to survive and subverted a religion to take power, it was just happenstance that he turned out to be the Kwisatz Haderach.
There was a StarCraft Custom Game for this. As well as a command and conquer-like that used the dune template.
Spice is worm shit and embryonic/nest/spawning fluids that dry in the sun and extends life into the hundreds of years.
Bubblegum Puddybutt got me to lol, nice! Looking forward to playing this one once the price drops a little...
FYI: It's not that personal shield made projectile obsolete. They have quite a number of projectile weapons like the dart like weapon that adjust speed to shield and 'lasgun', which is laser weapons. But they don't use 'lasgun' much because no one will survive that encounter. Shield contact with Lasgun creates a nuclear explosion, so everyone dies. It's generally not used unless you are certain you are loosing and prepare to take everyone with you.
That lasgun interaction seems so silly, why wouldn't everyone just use lasgun suicide bombers to nuke their shielded enemies?
@@yaelz6043 because with how the landsraad is they'd nuke whichever house they suspected of committing that plan to extinction. so every house uses its spy network to keep tabs on eachother. so not only would each house make sure their own men wouldn't do it. they also all make sure eachother don't either
though a purely insane group could do it without any issues so it is a plot hole. but a forgivable one
Age of Conan, oh man... so many bad memories...
spice extends life spice expands consciousness... also it generally not give you hallucinations
The basic premise in Dune is that Spice expands your mind and in the hands of The Space Guild it allowed the pilots to Fold Space, in effect, seeing or creating wormholes in space through which ships travel the universe. Without Spice, in essence, there is no space travel. Hence it's importance.
Units do gain XP for killing enemy units but the upgrades are underwhelming so far. It is in early access so that could change.
>Northgard devs
I have a feeling they're going to release the clans as separate dlc. Imma wait for this game to go on sale AND finished early-access.
have not seen the new movie but i have seen the old Dune movie and read the books and played the old Dune RTS games but it's always nice to see new games/movies from a classic like Dune
"Space cocaine machete fight" HAHAAHa I love it
Played it quite a bit---The military seems like the biggest issue. Just can't field enough troops to get anything done because they're so expensive.
It’s the same with their earlier game Northgard. It’s a 4X-lite rather than a RTS
The game is somewhat mischaracterized as an RTS. It is more of a lite 4x, where military is most powerful for early expansion, and defense. Beyond that you really need to focus it to be militarily powerful, but there are other methods of messing with your opponents.
I think that’s the point of the game. You can’t field a massive army on a planet that has a little water and a small population. You have to position your airfields tactically to quickly transport your army around to hotspots
You can dominate with military, you need play more
My Fremen horde disagrees.
AoC was great, especially the part where a single pvp kill would trigger guild battles in the town where people showed up after leaving the tutorial, they were just collateral damage.
Thank you for the gameplay and review, always enjoy watching your videos!
Space cocaine machete fight is my new mantra hahahaha I had to laugh so bad at that.
Just another game that I had to get because of you dude... thanks alot. lol
Finally, i was waiting for this one :D Thanks my friend
My man Splat out here giving people pure gold. I really feel you have filled the void that Total Biscuit once held for me as the best resource on YT for finding new and interesting games. If you know how many bangers that man lead me to you would know that is high praise. You are well on your way to eclipsing his count. Thank you for all your hard work. As a small time content creator myself I know first hand how much goes into all you do.
I think this game might be a lot of fun in MP from the looks of it. More so than Northgard. Thanks for showing it off.
Spice allows the Empire to exist. It allows the navigators to fold space and access hyperspace travel. Without spice, there is no faster than light travel. And the Empire would just collapse.
I find it incredibly amusing that the first thing you think of when you hear Funcom is also Age of Conan.
The units have a unit upgrade like that Billions of Zombies game. They survive long enough to get a but more health, and a bit more damage.
Thanks. I'm a big Dune games fan and it seems that I like this game too. I will buy it.
Holy crap, first time I've ever jumped on a game before Splattercat got to it. Still gonna watch the video but cool to know XD
Forgive Funcom after Age of Conan? I never forgave them for the Anarchy Online debacle!! >.>
space cocaine machete fight is a surprisingly accurate description
great summary at the end, i like northguard and dune so probably going to be a buy
reminds me of how good Dune (1992) was, it was planet scale rts with rpg story, in 1992!
You're the only youtuber that I've watched that has pronounced hegemony correct 😂
Among other useful things, the souce melange allows the Spacer's Guild to see thirty seconds into the future allowing them to navigate interstellar travel without slamming their vessel into a sun or planet. Navigators breathe spice gas and are dependent on doing so for survival
The whole purpose behind the Bene Gesserit selective breeding program is to progenate a human who can navigate without having to OD on spice, also to break the guild monopoly on space travel.
There are a number of other schemes to create alternatives to spice-based travel, such as the Tleilaxu effort to create a synthetic spice. Nobody outside the Spacing Guild really likes living under their monopoly.
Fell asleep playing
"Worm Thunder: Children of Arachis" heavily inspired by famous Dune series
I think you better watch the movie again bro. Spice is also essential for space travel. It allows the user to be able to calculate the equations required to travel huge distances. Without it none of the factions would be able to travel space... And that's truly the reason why it is so valuable. Not because it get you fucked up.
20:45 made me laugh so hard I spit out the noodles I was eating.
The Emperor canonically gave control of Arrakis to house Atreides in order to get rid of them, he doesn't give two shits who actually controls the planet as long as they produce spice, and Arrakis is the biggest poison mushroom there is.
If you control the planet, you immediately get a lot of enemies.
I believe the spice is used in their hyper speed travel and that's what makes it worth so much. I also believe they brought atreides on on purpose to destroy them because the emperor is worried about how much they are liked and sees them as a threat.
It has a lot of uses beyond just allowing the navigators to sense their way through folding space. Related to that it generally acts to expand consciousness, making it useful to the Bene Gesserit as well (and has a link to the water of life used by Jessica and Paul). It could improve longevity, quite significantly allowing people to live up to around 3x normal spans. It also has narcotic properties, which means a lot of people developed a level of dependency on it.
And yes Vladimar and Shaddam IV made a deal to dispose of a popular threat to both of them as house Atreides, and Leto in particular were very popular in the Landsraad and CHOAM Leto understood that, but there were two factors in taking the position of governor, refusal would have seen a reduction of their perceived position and they hadn't expected the sabotage by Yueh or use of Sardaukar (the Emperor's elite soldiers) disguised as Harkonnen troops.
this game makes me miss the old dune rts game.
Hey Bro. Just wanna say Thanks for explaining the game 😊👍🏾
I want to see more factions to play from, like the Spacer's guild, or the IX consortium.
I screamed when i saw this thumbnail
Some form of sticky explosives applied to a target's clothes might work if the shield couldn't tell between the object and what the target's wearing
Dune (Westwood Studios) was one of first RTS games. I beat Dune 2000 with all three houses.
"arrhythmic crip walk" - every harconnnen gangster ever
you anger Shai hulud
Funcom: Putting the F U in fun.
Veterancy actually already is in the game. At least for House Atreides. They even have a counselor whith nice veterancy buffs. Didnt try other factions yet. It's not obviously displayed but you can hover the symbol icon of the unit to see it. IIRC it does buff health and armor
It's weird after playing so much Dune 2000 seeing House Atreides as green - usually for House Ordos - instead of blue. Also, House Harkonnen and House Atreides have had a bitter feud between each other for at least 10,000 years prior to the events of Dune. They're natural enemies
If this game does not fulfill my expectations, you shall face my righteous wrath and be downtrodden for another tenthousand years under my tyranny.
thou art a god you are but a worm. take your falsehoods and feed them to your D dogs
The story is that laser shooting at shield causes nuclear explosion so nobody wants to do that. But yes, probably someone would discover workaround for this issue in real world.
Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people
The "Spice" comes from the Worms. My English teacher kept insisting that it's the poop from the worms... However I don't remember Frank explaining the relation too well, I could be wrong. And yes, they did have guns that pierced shields and it was very metal how it killed them.
I highly recomend giving Quin's Ideas of Ice and Fire here on YT a watch. He has some amazing summaries of the Dune lore - which is also quite amazing and just a tiny bit crazy.
The Fremen are the only "good guys" in Dune, and they eventually get screwed by being so. I honestly don't know how the public is going to react to the movies once everything starts going down "The Golden Path" in earnest. Lots of death and Very Bad Things, which audiences like, but they might be feeling kinda betrayed too, which isn't good (regardless of justification).
I'm pretty sure we won't get that far. The first book works great as a standalone, and both parts of the book provides enough material for 2 long movies. I don't think making movies about books 2-6 will be profitable. I mean if you look at what was left out from the books and the focus on that in the other novels I just don't see it happening, especially books 4-6
i feel a bit of stellaris here. with spice
"Space cocaine machete fight"
...yeah, that tracks
Wait, why is Liet Kynes a woman now here too? The entire point of Chani and Paul bonding together was the specific commonality of both losing their fathers. That's a weird choice, for both the movie and the game following suit now.
"the message" is why
Why does NO ONE remaster Battle for Emperor Dune? Just do that and perhaps add the civ like diplomacy etc and you have a bloody QUAD A rated masterpiece!
That soundtrack by Frank Klepacki. mmmmmmmmmmmm Harkonnen one especially.
he who controls the spice controls the universe
I read the books in like 97, I was born in 89.
Just FYI, subsonic rounds wouldn't help.
Keep in mind in close combat, you can even move your blade too fast and get stopped by the shield. Subsonic ammo is still way, way too fast.
ah bummer was excited for two seconds
The Smugglers were called Ordos in the Dune2000 rts.
Also in dune lazer weapons do exist! it just so happens that in the dune setting when a lazer weapon hits a shielded object/ person, it causes a nuclear fricking explosion killing both the lazer weapon holder and the shielded individual/ object.
Laser not lazer, but yes las-shield interactions are extremely devastating. They largely fell out of use because of that sub atomic fusion, hence the return to melee.
Suggestion: When it's not an indie game, you should say something like "today in the world of not-so indie games [...]"
