Thanks for showing that neat interaction with compleation and the doubling season effect! It's gonna be a great case for my planeswalker deck that has most of the compleated walkers!
@@LegenVD does the interaction work since multiple replacement effects are trying to act at the same time, and we get to decide their order? Or is it some more complicated layers-related reason?
At 37:25, if you played and leveled up the innkeeper's talent before proliferating, you would have been able to get Vraska up to 9 loyalty with the proliferate and win a turn sooner
I made a version of this today which was more Walker focused, so I also had liliana and Wrenn and threw in a few more board wipes and removal to make it almost Golgari Control. A lot of fun
@@TheChzoronzon For what is in standard right now on the faster side, glistening deluge is a great 3 mana board wipe for most aggro decks! and deadly cover-up is pretty good when you can exile vital combo pieces from an opponent's deck
Certainly a consideration! The main concern is spending mana not impacting the board, which is dangerous against all the aggro decks. That's the appeal of the Explore creatures, even if they don't dig quite as deep.
If you are gonna go that route, try Insatiable Avarice... I did and I'm happy Then, to stay alive while you get the combo pieces, I changed a lot of Explorers for lifelinkers, awesome with the Innkeeper... namely 3 x Deep Bat and 3 x Ichor Drinker (Incubate is nice too here) And a couple 3CC Lilianas too... dropping and ultimating her is awesome, and she's a good card anyways ;)
What??? Another Golgari monster? That's already the fourth variant of Golgari which seems very decent. BG Lands, BG Food/Squirrels, old BG value (with mainly Season of Loss as a new wipe/draw engine), and now BG Combo. Sweet!
Certainly a consideration! The main concern is spending mana not impacting the board, which is dangerous against all the aggro decks. That's the appeal of the Explore creatures, even if they don't dig quite as deep.
Awesome deck idea. I like that rotation removes some toxic cards from the meta, but I hate that rotation introduces cards to the meta that would have fit perfectly in some less used archetypes that never got to shine, and never will. I think Innkeeper's would have been neat in a Modified deck.
It's so great when you don't have a clear way to win, but at the same time, it seems like you're controlling the table by a little. And while you're thinking how to continue, the opponent concedes. Sometimes, not playing is an intelligent move
I personally find Vraska as a backup option in an Innkeeper Talent deck to be better. The talent is better with lifelink creatures like Fleshgorger and Deep Cavern Bat
I miss Cram Session in, like, every deck. Incidentally gaining 4 life is *so* powerful on agro-infested ladder. I'd definitely be playing at least the third Choking Miasma :P
Looks like a great idea. I'm a bit surprised that you didn't include Liliana, since the inkeeper's talent combo should work just as well with her in theory 🤔
Lili ultimate is nice but it's also not entirely game winning, especially in an aggro meta like this one. She's not any faster than vraska because you need to sink mana into the talent first.
Two questions: is it a bug or otherwise does it it need change theway "doubling" works with Planeswalker counters AND is this stuff worthy to be banned? 'Cause enchantments are not the priority for removal in decks and this is pretty much 1-shot-no-answer-possible kill.
Against other control/combo decks we likely need to take out 10 removal spells, so the sideboard will mostly be geared towards those matchups. Duress, Deep-Cavern Bat & Pillage the Bog are all good cards to bring in there. A few more sweepers for go-wide decks will also come in handy, so either more Choking Miasma, Deadly Cover-Up and/or Gix's Command. Liliana could be another decent Planeswalker alongside a Level 3 talent, would give you an answer to the occasional creature out of combo or control, while still having other uses. If you want some all-purpose answers look at Tear Asunder, Assassin's Trophy or Tranquil Frillback. For the best preparation you can look at some deck aggregator websites to have a sense of the current Standard meta and then come up with a sideboard plan for each matchup (which cards to bring in & take out). SInce the metagame hasn't really settled yet it's tricky to do at the moment, but it can still guide some of your decisions.
I ran into the same issue with the game not automatically holding priority for Tender Wildguide's plus counter ability. Need to go full control mode for it until Arena patches the bug
Hi legenvd quick question. I'm new to MTG arena and I want to craft this deck. Could you give any insight into how many wildcards or packs I would need to craft this deck? Should I buy gems for it or purchase wildcards ?
Buying wildcards is a pretty poor value proposition. Buying packs from the latest set will also give you golden packs, which help build your collection. It's always a little rough trying to complete a deck without a prior collection, so best thing to do is to start collecting cards from the most recent set through draft or by buying packs. Getting at least 4 daily wins and completing quests is a free way to get gold, which you can spend on various things. You also get wildcards by buying enough packs, so after a while of doing this you will be able to build towards more decks, while also having built up your collection for other strategies. It's not as fast as buying wildcards to instantly unlock a deck, but it's much better value and if you get bored of that one deck you'll have more cards to experiment with. Also make sure to check out websites like Untapped.gg where you can see the stats for various decks, that way you have a better idea how competitive they might be or maybe find more optimal builds. If you install their deck tracker (link in description) it can also tell you which decks you can build with your current collection and it has some other useful features.
@@LegenVD appreciate the reply. Unfortunately before seeing this I purchased 2x 4x rare wildcards to complete this deck. But that being said it's very fun to use.

The real MVP. Demonstrating that vraska can ultimate immediately when completed.
very cool combo - nice to see it doing well vs red too

Combo in Golgari!?!?! SAY LESS, I'M IN!!!!! ❤️🔥🤘
Great deck as always! IMO adding deep-cavern bat might be better, since it can interact and race against more decks with the new enchantment.

21:25 Tender Wildguide with offspring here, means we have 12 mana for both combo pieces next turn.

I gave my version the blood letter/ rush of dread combo as a back up plan,
I'm not sure what you would swap out but I think a single Goldvein Hydra would be a good include. A finisher, a ramper when/if it dies.
I would like it a lot more if it was an actual 1-drop to curve into the Talent.
37:26 if you play and upgrade the talent before 0 abilitying vraska, then she gets up to 9 loyalty setting. Up the win for the next turn
