In this episode I build a robot that plays the Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree because it's simply too hard. I created a robot from solenoids, Lego and an Arduino that plays Elden Ring for me on repeat. The question is: Will it make any difference?

14:43 is this a test PC or are you a real gamer who doesn't pay for windows? :D
I have a duckypad I was going to do the same thing with . Might try it this weekend
This is so funny to me that you and the channel Basically Homeless thought of a similar idea and released on the same day. It's cool to see the different methods you guys used to accomplish the task of a robot playing the PC.
I got to max level manually. The time is shorted in NG+ since you get more runes. I just did it 1-2 hours per day, taking my time with it. But I did it. Do you become a god? No. You get 2-hit instead of 1-hit and you deal more damage, but you're still not a god, even at max level, for anyone wondering. But the good thing about the "yes" build is that you can switch between melee and magic without any problem and you can try out different styles of gameplay with the same character, without having to restart the game. So, I'm confirming what this video is showing.
This is so damm underated i felt like i was watching a 3 millions subs channel

Mike, a way to get additional runes in that farming place in Mogwyn's palace is to use the Gold Pickled Fowl Foot item, it increases rune acquisition by 30% for 3 minutes. You can also use the Golden Scarab talisman, which increases rune acquisition by 20% and stacks with the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, giving you a +56% bonus to runes when you have both.
Gaining the materials to make make more Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot isn't all that hard. You need the Missionary Cookbook [2], and there's a location in Weeping Peninsula where you can get 11 Golden Firefly, and you can get the Four-Toed Fowl Foot by killing birds, especially those penguin looking guys on Limgrave beach. If you use arrows to kill them, they won't fly away. If you're going to spend ages farming, might as well farm smarter, not harder. But.. I guess that's what you were doing in the video anyway...
sometimes I feel like I am not contributing to the world enough, you know? like, I am doing things that give no value? But seeing your comment made me realized I could have done worse. So, thanks man.
Those birds are easier to farm by the grace next to the bridge towards Radahn's castle, where also the teleport to the festival is.
There are 3 birds there, and you can immediately reset them afterwards sitting down by the grace eliminating travel time basically.

You know that base game leveling doesnt do much for the DLC? The DLC is all about scadutree blessing. Anyways amazing video, so fun watchign you build that thing! Creds for being so creative and technical :D
The best part of this video is that your base game stats are irrelevant in the DLC if you don’t collect scadutree blessings
Yeah, that's what I've heard too. You need to get some stuff from the DLC to make it easier, without doing that, it's impossible
@@PureRushXevus Clearly a skill issue, stats are always relevant. Skadutree fragments are not required for completing the DLC content.
@@shattankov1991yeah, nothing is required to beat anything in the game besides some key quest items. You could theoretically beat the game without any gear and without ever rolling.
For the average player on their first run though, scadutree fragments are pretty important. Can’t exactly learn radahn’s move set when you take like 40% more damage than the already huge amount he does if you have max scadu blessing.
For my first play through of then DLC At level 250 On NG+ I ran the Whole DLC without the blessings it was ok only till the final boss did I start using them
That's just false. Your stats are very much relevant, it is just that they are exponentially boosted by the shadow fragments.

Love your videos and your development in climbing, thank you for sharing you experiences!
I want to be mean and say you need to get good but I think that's just because I struggled through and beat the game without farming. So I'll simply say, the developers want you to play how you want to play and to take advantage of everything they give you to make your experience as challenging as you like, I'm glad you found your way!
From Software needs to learn how to make good experiences that feel good for the player. They've drank Kool Aid for too long and they've gone back to Dark Souls 2 with the DLC.
Farming isn't fun. Having to face numerous bugs, or the buggy camera is not fun either. Just pumping damage and health of bosses, while artificially increasing hit boxes, are also the cheapest ways of making something 'challenging'.
Mike had more fun building his machine than playing the game and that says a lot about Elden Ring.
@@sujimayne Fromsoft fixed and nerfed Consort Radahn, he's no longer an insane challenge. You can beat him with a few pretty basic builds without any troubles (already before the nerf).

Here's a little tip for all soulsborne ring games where you can drop currency items to cooperators (requires a friend to help you):
1. Backup your save.
2. Get into a world with your cooperator.
3. Drop them all the currency items you have.
4. Exit the game, and reload your backed up save. You should have your items again.
5. Repeat. It's a duplication glitch.
OPTIONAL:
1. To make the process faster in the long run, have your cooperator drop all the currency items you dropped for them.
2. Exit the game, and backup your save.
3. Drop your currency items to your cooperator.
4. Exit the game, and reload your backed up save.
5. Repeat. This doubles the amount you drop each time

Level up in base game yes... Shadow of the erdtree, you go get Scadutree fragments to massively level up your character within the DLC. Regular leveling barely helps
regular leveling barely help past the softcaps of base game. if someone is not yet at 80 in his main damage stats and 60 in vigor, he will make a small difference by reaching those caps. usually though, you'll be maxed out in all those around sl200. on a strength build the investment can go even lower since you're only leveling one stat and reach the soft cap at 54 (though getting 99 str is still worth it).
@@niscent_ What should be considered is that after you reach the softcaps in Vigor, your main stat and some QOL you finally have the leeway to expand your utility ... spend some in faith to use the buffs you could not use. Spend some in arcane so that you can use the Str/Arc weapons that give you bleed, spent some in int so that the weapon art of your star greatsword actually does more dmg. You still get much stronger as a character after lvl 150 but of course not if you dont use the additional stuff you get access to.
@@chidori0117 yep, right now i'm running a pure strength build that expanded towards typical faith utility. so after i had reached 99 str (which is actually not a waste because of two handing), i simply invested more into faith at first to be able to cast flame grant me strength, bestial vitality and shared order, then i put some into mind for more fp, and afterward i've been spreading around other stats like vigor and endurance to reach their highest softcaps.
now i'll be increasing faith until i get a solid enough scaling to make a good use of weapon buffs, until then, it shall be cragblade and its 15% damage.
I loved the zoom into the unlicensed windows watermark to show off the hardware cheats.
Mike Boyd, one of us, one of us lol. Great video, had no idea you were a gamer.
To make it future-proof-undetecable- You could code in random time intervals between two sets of numbers you set. I did this for a more advanced auto-clicker I made for OSRS (Oldschool Runescape) and it has so far gotten me 11- 99 magic accounts, 9 of which I sold.
It has random interval, as well as changes in which pixel is pressed.
If you want to farm runes, dont take it out on those poor frogs, they just want to vibe.
Now turn to your left and you see a crow in the distance, not only does he have an unsatable hunger for Tarnished flesh, but he also drop more runes, and will help you farm him. Just hit him with an arrow and let him do the rest.
There's an even better rune farm I found in the Rauh Ruins.
Just let the Furnace Golem kill all the enemies on that big bridge, sit at the grace, stand up, sit at the grace, and then do it all over.
The fire from the Furnace Golem remains for a while, so it will spawnkill all the enemies when you sit at the grace, once.
You get 11,000 from bird with one reset. with the final boss weapon you can get 40,000 from albanurics with one reset, the frog guys are way faster even if they have a sad origin
Porque no los dos?
@@HankFacepunchtakes too long compared to just the Albanourics. Wasting time = wasting runes
@@austinpeterson4898 its not that hard to hit that bird, once you get the timing down you get more runes pr hour with the bird, or if you are actually playing the game, the better rune farm, as pointed out by an other commenter, the furnace golem in Rahu Ruins.
Personally i would just play the game, if you are struggling its not your level, its your build.
Most soft caps are at 60, and 80 for attack stat if you are doing those single attribute builds.
Get 60vig, enough endurance to wear the armor you want, get 61 or 101 poise to hit those brake points, less then 61 poise might just be 0 (for pve), and there is no difference between 61 and 100.
Get some FP to use weapon arts, around 20 mind or so does fine, if you are a caster, any more then 40 mind is wasted points since your flask cant recover more then that.
And as i said, 60/60 if you are using a weapon with two stats it require, ie. Str Faith, or Dex Arcane.
And if you use a mono attribute build, unga bunga str 80 (you can get away with less if you two hand str weapons) or 5 head int caster.
Then get the talismans that help you do the thing you want, Dragon great shield for more defense, use the element the opponent hit with. And the cerulean crystal talisman to get more HP then the vigor stat can give you.
Then you can get some offensive talismans, but if you feel like you need to grind levels, then its the defense department you need to improve, and levels can only get you so far.
60vigor 40endurance is good enough, anything more then that would be better spent on anything else, use those runes to buy grease or something.
The problem isnt that you dont have enough points, its that the once you have are in the wrong places.
As Mike showed, even with his max stats, he took 4 seconds to be taken out by Lore Accurate Radhan when he went unga bunga, but when he took to the great shield and hid behind that, using the rot rapier to whittle him down, then he manage to take him down. And here is a little secret, you can do that with 60 vigor and 40 endurance.
You spend your time better trying to take an other approach instead of genocide those poor frogs.
The comet is "dodge-able". Once he goes up in the sky that high you start running for the outside of the arena. I was able to beat the dlc boss eventually (back in June or so). Took 30+ tries. And I had to switch to "shield + poke" build. Which I had never knew about before.
the comet attack can be avoided by running away
1:02 experts agree this was boolshet
Fun fact, with shield & poke tactic you used you can beat him at level 120 with no issues.

what happened with that show, I watched it like a year or two ago, remember the first season being good but the second half of the second season kinda went everywhere and got nowhere, just a bunch of cliffhangers
That's what i love about From Soft games , you may have a full level character, you would still beat the dust if you don't learn. Frankly i always felt like the only thing that change is ultimately the number of try. Other than that you still have to git gud . My personal most memorable experience was my SL1 run on DS1 , it was hard but so good so try optimize with what you can use , try different weapons and did really light up the damage base type for me and let me understand why Strike + high poise damage is always picked by new comers .
icl, if you sold a robot that did any in game farming for you, id prolly buy it lol
Great video Mike! Congrats on 3 Million subs!
It would have been so funny if it had an integer overflow and reset
Crazy good idea and execution :D. I love your demonstration of problem-solving procedures. Thanks for the video.
Thing is, maximum level only matters so much in Elden Ring. For starters, the DLC uses an additional, parallel level-up system (aka the Scadutree fragments) which, when maxed, halves the damage you receive while also doubling the one you deal. Secondly, levels in each stat only matter if you're using a build or a weapon that benefits from said stat: if you're committing to a non-infused giant crusher, you're not making use of your 99 points in dexterity, intelligence, faith and arcane - meaning you could've essentially spared yourself 356 level-ups (assuming you started as a wretch). Thirdly, each stat has its own softcaps delimiting very steep diminishing returns, so leveling up beyond a certain level isn't terribly beneficial even in the case of your primary stats - a level 200 character is much closer to a fully maxed out one than a RL1 wretch already. And lastly, builds and stats alone aren't everything - certain approaches to the game are straight-up more viable than others: in your fight against Radahn, you were fat rolling (which drastically reduces your i-frames while also making the recovery animation much slower) and using Malenia's great rune (which nerfs your crimson healing flasks). I also hope you remembered to equip the golden scarab talisman before putting your poor robot to work - that could've spared him 10 hours or so of farming.
On one hand, I respect the fact this video exists, I'm sure you knew how pointless this would've been beforehand and we're all here because of you doing things for fun and giggles (which I thoroughly respect of course, you had me entertained for 20 minutes straight, after all! :3), but just in case anyone here looking for actual game knowledge, there are far more straightforward ways to overcome challenges in these games, lol
In my case, I was insane enough to go and beat the DLC and its final boss at level 1 (with max level weapons and Scadutree blessing, although without using summons or spirit ashes), but getting his moveset down probably took me less time than programming your robot did, lol
I love how you sit in the chain or just lean into Elir Ilim's columns!! Genius
Reachs max level
Still fat rolls.
Don't run away from the bad boss where 90% of his attacks need you to run away from.
And even if you tried, you'd be too slow to do it.
You'd need max sacretutree fragment and recreate the "let me tank him" build, or go at medium roll and get semi decent at him.
Also, you'll need morgot great rune and every defense talisman and consummable max stacked. Plus a max flask for defence.
And also, Rather then boiled crab, black flame protection would be stronger. (And they don't stack).
Max level
+ Phys + Non + Magical + Holy resistance talisman (all at level 3)
+ black flame protection
+ resist flask
+backstep flask
+ medium roll armor.
+ some OP weapon.
That would be the closiest you can have to fighting the boss like a normal build, but one difficulty lower.
----
Level by itself does nothing.
Like having maxed out int, faith and arcane will do nothing to your strength weapon.

Could've just downloaded some software to do this rune farm for you but you actually went the extra mile to build an actual robot, Mike is truly a souls player.
That's against rule #1 😜 thanks for watching!
The devs intended to give players creative ways to defeat the bosses, sometimes you get easter eggs when you discover a weakness no one knew about.
In case of prime rahdan you only need a great shield and rot spells
My guy really overengineered what is essentially a macro lmao
4:05 ahhhh, it weren’t much, but it was honest work 👨🌾 I also found you could make way more runes by equipping the golden scarab and using gold foul feet and just shooting a single arrow at the bird down across the gorge making it run off the cliff. You could do that about 3-5 times per minute and pull so many runes
Doing less than 2000 damage with the giant crusher at max level... you are doing something wrong dude ( and also fat rolling).
You sitting by the fire with the donkey right next to your face was hilarious lol

endurance at 42 is wild
not really, the first stamina soft cap is at 50
This doesn't feel like your typical videos but I love it
The DLC scales with your level tho. Going in there at max level means you're playing this on the highest possible difficulty. The only way to get stronger in the DLC is by collecting the Scadutree fragments which boost your stats without affecting your level when you're exploring the DLC areas. Also who in their right mind tries to fight consort Radahn while fat rolling?
Edit: I was telling bullshit. The DLC doesn't scale with your level, the content is just scaled ridiculously high by default. it does scale with NG+ like the rest of the game tho.
No, Rune level still increases your stats (and does not affect enemy stats), it's just that Scadutree frags increase your stats a hell of a lot more (at least once you have a few frags). So Rune level is still important, at least to a point, and there is no Final Fantasy 8-esque enemy scaling.
Where did you get that from?
The difficulty does NOT scale with your rune level.
It's just that leveling your Scadu level has a bigger impact than leveling your rune level.
