Winchester PDX1 9mm +P 124gr. Can this hang with the BEST?

- Well, first off, my apologies. I tried to film 4 ammo tests back to back, but the sun had other plans. The phone heated up as shut off as you saw, but also the go pro started to mess up filming and shut off before the gel shot was done. Side note, it totally messed up for my Sig v-crown 10mm video, so that one will have to be redone. I included a slow mo, but that was from the regular camera and doesn't have the fps to get a good shot, but you can still pick out a few pieces of the gel test in it. Not too bad.
Onto the ammo, very consistent on the chronograph and the expansion looked good on the fake slow-mo. I'll have to do a side by side comparison of this versus a HST or Gold Dot, but like I mentioned at the end of the video, if this were in your self defense weapon, it would certainly do the trick.

Looks like a good performing round. Thanks for sharing the video.
Definitely a quality round
I like these gel tests. The expansion was great.
It was good, I just wish the gopro worked. Stupid sun and heat
Looking forward to see how this compares to the HST and Gold Dot. Thanks, very useful!
I'll get that one on the list of things to compare
Winchester rounds are under rated. Some of the best stuff out there. I've always had great luck with their stuff hunting, Training. My gel tests show great results.
I don't care if the hole is round or square. The low flash powder is a plus.
I sort of just jumped through the video so I could have missed it but some tips for improvement:
1)Stationary camera with side view and top view of most recent wound channel, making sure to point it out and/or explain which one it is if you don’t have an action camera that shows it directly from the side. Better yet, use an action camera from the side as well, and then just kind of quickly talk about the wound channel while filming it clearly from the side. I remember you mentioning you used a go pro for that in a 9 vs .40 vs .357 sig video, but the footage disappeared every time you shot the gun. Haven’t watched enough other videos to see if that’s something you regularly do or not, but I didn’t see it in this particular video.
2)Close up of the expanded round from the top, on a surface or holding it from the very back so clear view of all sides, like a clear view of the front of it
Edit: Okay you do have an action camera but it didn’t even register to me because of the weird placement. Put it parallel to the gel block. If you need an example, watch gun sam revolver aficianado or tools & targets or AZ airgunner and put your camera like theirs. Not over the top of the block like this. You can’t see shit like that.
This is my carry/ duty ammo
They go 1300+ from my 5 inch and about 1275 from my 4.5
Pretty good speeds for sure
thanks for the testing ...
Thanks!
Looks good. Thank you
Thanks!
There’s no difference that’s just the old box the new ones don’t say pdx1 they just say defender
Interesting. Thanks for the clarification
I switched to this from gold dot a few years back. I switched to 9mm for edc and spoke with a lot of local law enforcement where I was living in NOVA and this is what they all carried. Figured if they trusted it when dealing with ms13 it was worth carrying.
Brownell has the lab radar in their email ad... I will be getting one soon... but they sell out fast.
I tried to use it when I tested the prototype rounds for 1stroundammunition, but couldn't figure it out in the allotted time. I know that tools uses it now. I don't know if I want to invest in that just yet when there are so many other things I want to spend money on, lol. For example I want a decent spotting scope and a kestrel. Those will cost a pretty penny
Nice
Lmao I love this type of “just giant hole in the ground” “gun range”. No sarcasm though
Bonded bullets are the best
Looks like it’ll do the job though
Will definitely get the job done.
