Yeah, i’ve wasted years of my life trying to understand why people behave badly instead of letting them go and focusing on what makes me happy and calm.
the best advice any therapist ever gave me was that when I'm feeling a strong emotion that scares me, I should lean into it and let my body feel it. whenever I'm anxious I let my body feel the physical feeling of anxiety and it poses within seconds. running from our emotions makes them stronger, but feeling them for even one or two seconds will stop them having power over you. it works literally every time.
Can confirm, I've been doing trauma therapy and EMDR. I realized I had been intellectualizing my feelings and not REALLY feeling them. I work hard to give myself space to feel like shit when my body needs it. I feel lighter afterwards and happier the next day.

thank you so much for this. honestly I've been feeling so, so, so much anxiety for so long and it feels like actual torture but I'm realizing I'm the one torturing myself. so much of what you said resonated so much with me, so from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for this. know that your videos are really helping people out- at least 1 person, you are really helping. and to whoever's reading this: if you spend your life running away from yourself, not facing yourself, you will spend it in a perpetual state of anxiety, even when there is a clear solution to your problem. even if it's really, really hard, do not escape your problems. face them. I believe you can. I promise the perpetual pain of running away feels worse than the temporary pain of facing it. there's always a solution, you just gotta find it and allow yourself to take it, even if it's scary. the best thing you could ever do for yourself is to choose to get better. and remember- it always ends. nothing is ever forever- so long as you choose to get better. so choose that. deal with your sh*t. keep it simple, don't overcomplicate things. simplicity is really the key to life.

Marcus Aurelius is my favorite stoic and former Roman King. His words always deeply resonated with me, so much so that I would listen to audio version of 'The Mediations' (his life's work) he wrote every night. So many times, I would think to myself, it's like I'm listening to my grandfather sharing his wisdom with me. Well, I had my ancestry DNA test and it turns out, he is my ancestor. I had never been so shocked yet not surprised at the same time 😄 I highly recommend listening to the audio version of 'The Mediations' by Marcus Aurelius read by Duncan Steen as he reads it properly
As someone who is finishing an outpatient program right now, these concepts are referred to as Mindfulness and cognitive skills. I love what you are talking about!! Your have referred to thought distortions, thought reframing, self-awareness, thought stopping, and radical acceptance. this is truly a magical concept that can really help people heal! :) The only issue I have is that humans feel and it should be seen as natural and valid. Feeling leads to processing and then to healing.
one time this family i was living with, the son asked me for some advice so I said it like this “every emotion we experience, we are so lucky to be able to feel so it’s best not to take your feelings for granted, happiness, anger, grief, we are so lucky to be able to experience these feelings. Being human is an a amazing once in a lifetime experience ” so I loved hearing you say this it makes me realize that no matter what, my emotions are normal and I’m not craaaazy cause after I moved in with my family after this, I am experiencing so many emotions and now I realize I’m just getting a different human experience and it won’t last forever , hopefully
I've actually realised that life is complicated by the good and evil concept. Therefore we live trying to do what we think is good or trying to avoid what we think is bad. This effort can quickly translate to stress. Remove the good and bad concept and live in the present not trying to achieve something and make the life fluid, slowing down and being aware of you, your thoughts, emotions, words, actions and senses and the environment; live a minimalist lifestyle; we actually don't need to pursue money and things instead we should ease into our passion. Life is supposed to be meditative. Meditation is not something we should do only in the morning or at a specific time of the day. We should live meditatively
I had a huge successful biz and when Covid hit I lost everything practically overnight. It took be awhile to recover but you are right it works. I am doing back the same things and principals I took to build before. Now I’m rebuilding and even started this small new channel at 53. I’m so impressed with you girl. You are doing great sharing this with everyone. Thank you
7:06 i am a psychic medium as well, however, i dont channel what most would call ‘spirits’ but i do channel higher frequencies and messages; i have the gift of claircognizance. i was drawing something earlier in my notebook because i am doing this thing recently where i really listen to my emotions and.. ‘accept my humanity.’ i drew a strawberry on the page i was writing, but it was not just a strawberry. i drew a strawberry with a skull’s face on it. death/ transformation represented on a strawberry. this page i was writing on was expressing my limerance for someone and some things and how i was ready to accept it and release it, knowing i can feel it without guilt or shame, and i can release it all the same. it doesn’t mean i care not or love not the person or thing, just that its all okay and meant to be as it is, as it will be in the end. but right now is right now, and right now i’m human. this is humanity, right ? allowing myself to be here and not fear that any more. allowing my self to see who i am and remember that deep part of my self even if i was afraid to meet them before, its divine knowing that i have no choice but to go further or to remain in the past, the same as i always was. today i’m different. right now i am new. it was so interesting to me that your video showed up randomly. i’ve never seen you before but somehow you looked familiar so i clicked your video. i almost felt pushback from the very beginning, my ego was immediately calling you a liar and saying you don’t know what you’re saying; but you do know, and so do i. i know it and that why i clicked this video without reason. just with familiarity because this knowledge, this wisdom; its familiar. its true. its me, and its you. thank you for mentioning specifically the strawberry story about your psychic friend. that was confirmation for me through my own psychic ability. i love this video. thank you for being here and making it. your purpose rings loud and true in this video: your purpose isnt what you do, but the way you made me feel when you did what you did. thank you. i feel hope, i feel like i can remember peace.
This gave me so much comfort in my heart. I’ve been. Trying to move forward in my life this way and this was even more confirmation for me to keep on the path. Thank you and I love you for sharing this message and how you feel.
I do agree with what you are saying to a certain extent and can really see how having a stoic mindset can improve people’s sense of autonomy and choice which can be very empowering. The one thing that I think is too brushed over is that for people who have experienced serious and ongoing trauma is that it can become very entrenched within their behaviours and effects how they physically feel and respond too. If somebody has C-PTSD or PTSD, it can take a long time to develop strategies for managing this and often specialist support is required. It’s not as simple as thinking, well I just don’t think about it that way and then the next minute they’re suddenly carefree and looking at the flowers. And like I said above, I do agree that having a stoic mindset is important and helpful, however there are situations where that alone is not enough.
ate a strawberry today literally started crying after you said that.Realizing I've been creating so many limiting problems and believes that have been stopping me from where I need to be. I am limitless!!
Its super easy to subscribe to this mindset you and the tik tok girl have when you both clearly have your basic needs met with stability and consistency. have enough money to live well and enjoy things. That girl was coming back from a RAVE in MIAMI lmaooo obviously she can manage feeling good and rolling with whatever punches life throws because its clearly not beating her into the ground every single day with constant roadblocks and obstacles and wasted efforts just hitting walls.
Exactly! Everything like manifestation , and all those laws, the people talking about it had a standing point. Money! None of them where ever « ugly » their glow up is just losing some weight. All this law does not include the people who are neurodivergent with disorders and people who dealt with so much trauma or being poor. They be like « get over it, create your reality » yeah, I would do that, OF I HAD THE MONEY. If I can wake up tomorrow and only go to work and school without worrying about grades or what I will eat next week then maybe I would be able to « manifest ». They talk about blockages and negative energy, all my blockages is the fact that I am not mentally stable and I am broke. Yes I can use the law of affirmations but it’s hard to say “I am pretty” or “I am rich” when they outside is the opposite. It takes time! And understanding what you can physically do then from then you see how YOU want to view the world and then maybe we can be less than half way to be like those people who have it all and say it’s “easy to manifest”
@@yeonjunhour3733this video is not about manifestation, but about a stoic mindset. Stoicism means you focus on what you can control to make your life better and let go of those things out of your control. For example, you can’t control your genes, if beauty is what concerns you, neither the fact that you are not as privileged as some other people on the internet. It’s just your reality, which won’t change whether you consider it fair or unfair. Now the matter is what can you do with your reality? Your reality just as it is. I understand what you’re going through because it overlaps with my experience at the moment. I know it’s difficult, but we somehow have to find a way through if we want peace. We must figure out how to keep enjoying life in the simplest of ways even during times of hardships. We can always be grateful for what we get to do, to have and to feel at the moment. Many aspects of our lives are privileges we have that we aren’t yet aware of. It’s okay if it takes time to process all of this, I am still trying to fit it in my own brain. But you are strong. You are capable of making the most out of your circumstances . And most importantly, you are able to live and feel human.
@@yeonjunhour3733HEYOO BRO FELLOW POOR NEURODIVERGENT HERE!! the thing is bro, manifestation isn't easy, but it is simple. It's simplicity comes from trusting dude!! And if u find yous have blockages there, like if trusting feels icky to ya, then seek out methods that's help get to the root of that blockage, and other possible subconsciously held beliefs! FOR ME JOURNALLING HELPS A TON! YES UR SOCIETAL STANDING WILL MAKE THINGS HARDER THAN OTHERS ABSOULETLY!! BUT TRY TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AND SIMPLY MOVE ON, NOT HYPERFIXATE ON IT AND USE IT AS A MEANS TO HALT YOUR PROGRESS! THERES A DIFFR3NCE BETWEEN ACKNOWLEDGING SUM AND HYPERFIXATING ON IT! NO POINT FOCUSING ON SOMEONE ELSE WHEN ITS UR LIFE U WANNA IMPROVE BROCHACHO!! THO I UNDERSTAND THE FUSTRATION IT CAN BRING FOR OTHERS WHO DONT RECOGNISE THEI3 PRIVELLGE THEN TRY TO RELATE WIT U ON SOMETHING THEY HAVENT EXPERINCED OR TRY TO MAKE IT OUT LIKE WE ALL HAVE AN EQUAL PLAYIN FEILD.
@@yeonjunhour3733a reason as to why manifestation could be harder for u to grasp is cause u probably don't belive in it all that much. And that distrust makes it beyond difficult for the universe to give u the things u ask for when past beliefs and ideals and traumas are stored all up in ya system. The universe can't bring u especially like big things like long term finances when there's no room for it to enter ur life. Ur traumas take up wayy too much room bro! So removing all things thqt don't serve u like old attachments and beliefs about urself, others and the world and having a grounded understanding in who u are will bring u the things ur lookin for!!
@@yeonjunhour3733 something I read in an old book said you have to work within your “sphere of availability” (or something like that) which just means that you may have to start small and work your way up. If someone doesn’t have a place to put a boat or money to take care of a boat, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to manifest a boat; but if you stay within the sphere of where you are while also looking at where you want to go, then you should be able to get some headway
This is actually so comforting to hear summarized and have a name/more better philosophy put to it. Literally my inner monologues and observations over the past few weeks months -> about a year now even. yeah idk , always been a deep thinker kid hence my quietness.

Not perfect-I still fall back into the bad cycles of distraction…But drawing near to the Lord again brings me back to this level of peace that you speak of🤍 I enjoy this for those who don’t yet know God. I've been preaching contemporary stoicism since the latter half of 2019, and I'm glad to see a youtuber I genuinely respect and admire bring more attention to it, since more than ever when most people are more reactive than proactive a la most people who're online as of late, contemporary stoicism(or what you call practical stoicism) is needed more than ever
Thank you so much for creating this video. I genuinely started crying when you were talking about the spirits and what they miss about being human. I just let the tears fall. It really hit my heart and that message I needed dearly. I ready to truly change my life again. I did it many times before and I can do it again! 💕💕💕 sending you so much love

Beautifully put-stoicism's focus on personal growth and mastering oneself is timeless wisdom. Embracing virtues like courage and kindness brings clarity, even in challenging times. 🌿
I love the concept of stoicism. To me, contrary to popular interpretations, it allows you to feel life and emotions deeper. It allows you to realize you can control these things, and take in the fact that you are experiencing life. The good and the bad. It lets you pause, and feel. Rationalize, and see things from an overhead perspective
That being said. Not blocking out emotions. But feeling them on a more personal and deeper understanding type level. But not letting them control you as a person. Separation of self and thoughts / emotions
I believe my spirit guides are watching, I’ve been seeing a lot of angel numbers, and also I really needed to hear this, as someone who sometimes acts out of impulsively, and overthinks staying calm ofc was the best decision, I’ve been on my self healing journey.thanks for this helpful video
I believe on some instinctual level most of us want others to care about us because it is literally dependent upon our survival as well as the connection we have with others. We want to feel loved and know that we are important to others however we shouldn't have to compromise our integrity with those that truly care about us. Someone who truly cares about you wouldn't put you in a position that is detrimental to your well-being.

Hii, just wanted to say that I rlly appreciate your perspective, it's such a unique idea that I haven't seen been talked about so far. Ty and keep up the quality videos girll❤
I love your videos , I have been having a lot of confidence issues and your videos really helped me stop being a people pleaser and I am workingonyour advice to make myself better. You are like an elder sister to me.❤
Imagine being Marcus Aurelius or any of the other stoics and seeing videos of beautiful feminine people talking about stoicism hundreds (thousands) of years in the future....I am also a stoicism girlie, I love this so much! Also you are GORGEOUS
Personally, what drew me away from stoicism is having repeated over and over that you can only control ourselves and not others - only that I can't. As an auDHDler (autism+ADHD) with PDA tendencies, I have meltdowns, my mind is a volatile beast. I've accepted it, there isn't exactly much I can do about my inherent neurology. Doing what you suggested was what drew me away from stoicism.
i think more specific to you situation would be "controlling what you can" instead of "controlling yourself." If there are parts of yourself you can't control, there still can be other parts that you can control. for example, if a certain thing triggers you, you can control your exposure to it since you can't control your reaction to it.
I’m so greatful I came across this video and your page. I’m a mess and have tears in my eyes but I feel joy and bliss. Such a simple message, but so powerful. Thank you ❤

Erased problem - either there is solution or there is not. It is redirect, divine redirection It's not wrong, it's redirection Simplifying thoughts - simplicity is key to peaceful life

I dont really know what stoicism is, but I do what you said to in this video already. These are all amazing things to do and are greatly helpful. I never actually realized when I changed into adopting these practices, but I definutely think this way now, and I know i didnt use to.
i just cant. this was the first time I actually went wow. The fact this matches all those self help books Ive tried reading. For reference these thoughts are called thought biases, and if you read "Why has nobody told me this before?" by Dr. Julie Smith it was actually right the answer has always been with me
I love your perspective on things Mae! I agree that we can only control what we actually have control over, which are our thoughts, feelings and actions. When I learned about the things that I’m not in control of, like other people’s thoughts and feelings, it was strangely freeing in its own way, helping me worry less about those kinds of things. And learning how to be grateful and learning how to accept things as they are also goes a long way
Personally, I've had a different experience, and it also connects to me having different beliefs. I believe everything starts with matter. And then the complexities of the mind build from that. I've also had the same thing in my experience. Planning is rarely something that works for me. I can't control myself like that. I pay attention to the details, start doing, and let my intuition do its thing. I'm not really interested in doing things in a way that doesn't work for me. For what?
"Take things as they are, and not what they could be” wow, it really reasonated with me in some ways
When I entered my mid twenties I took on stoicism naturally, I didn't realize it was an entire concept/philosophy.

I had never been so shocked yet not surprised at the same time 😄
I highly recommend listening to the audio version of 'The Mediations' by Marcus Aurelius read by Duncan Steen as he reads it properly
Came off antidepressants after 5 long numb years. The loud thoughts brought me here today. Keep sharing. It means more than you know.
I came in with a shite mindset
And left with a smile and a little hope.
You have no idea the impact this video has made for me. Simply hearing these words can change a mindset. Thank you for sharing ur wisdom girl
Wow
I had a huge successful biz and when Covid hit I lost everything practically overnight. It took be awhile to recover but you are right it works. I am doing back the same things and principals I took to build before. Now I’m rebuilding and even started this small new channel at 53. I’m so impressed with you girl. You are doing great sharing this with everyone. Thank you

i am a psychic medium as well, however, i dont channel what most would call ‘spirits’ but i do channel higher frequencies and messages; i have the gift of claircognizance.
i was drawing something earlier in my notebook because i am doing this thing recently where i really listen to my emotions and.. ‘accept my humanity.’
i drew a strawberry on the page i was writing, but it was not just a strawberry. i drew a strawberry with a skull’s face on it. death/ transformation represented on a strawberry.
this page i was writing on was expressing my limerance for someone and some things and how i was ready to accept it and release it, knowing i can feel it without guilt or shame, and i can release it all the same. it doesn’t mean i care not or love not the person or thing, just that its all okay and meant to be as it is, as it will be in the end. but right now is right now, and right now i’m human.
this is humanity, right ? allowing myself to be here and not fear that any more. allowing my self to see who i am and remember that deep part of my self even if i was afraid to meet them before, its divine knowing that i have no choice but to go further or to remain in the past, the same as i always was.
today i’m different. right now i am new.
it was so interesting to me that your video showed up randomly. i’ve never seen you before but somehow you looked familiar so i clicked your video.
i almost felt pushback from the very beginning, my ego was immediately calling you a liar and saying you don’t know what you’re saying; but you do know, and so do i. i know it and that why i clicked this video without reason. just with familiarity because this knowledge, this wisdom; its familiar. its true. its me, and its you.
thank you for mentioning specifically the strawberry story about your psychic friend. that was confirmation for me through my own psychic ability.
i love this video. thank you for being here and making it. your purpose rings loud and true in this video: your purpose isnt what you do, but the way you made me feel when you did what you did. thank you.
i feel hope, i feel like i can remember peace.
I would recommend everyone to read this book "the courage to be disliked". It really changed my life and mindset
ate a strawberry today literally started crying after you said that.Realizing I've been creating so many limiting problems and believes that have been stopping me from where I need to be.
All these things God/Jesus taught me through wisdom! Not perfect-I still fall back into the bad cycles of distraction…But drawing near to the Lord again brings me back to this level of peace that you speak of🤍
I enjoy this for those who don’t yet know God.
Yet doing this with God himself will take you places you’d never imagined
Your tips are practical and easy to follow, and your positive energy makes it all so inspiring. Thank you for helping us simplify our lives and find more joy in the process!
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law! Silence the mind and the Will springs forth as a Lion!
Great video
I've been preaching contemporary stoicism since the latter half of 2019, and I'm glad to see a youtuber I genuinely respect and admire bring more attention to it, since more than ever when most people are more reactive than proactive a la most people who're online as of late, contemporary stoicism(or what you call practical stoicism) is needed more than ever
thank you for the support 💜 glad to hear you’re spreading the word, it’s so needed
@@MaeAliceSuzuki why anytime
Thank you so much for creating this video. I genuinely started crying when you were talking about the spirits and what they miss about being human. I just let the tears fall. It really hit my heart and that message I needed dearly. I ready to truly change my life again. I did it many times before and I can do it again! 💕💕💕 sending you so much love
A problem isn't a problem if it has a solution. This may sound so stupid to other people but as simply as she said it, I needed it. This was processed in the mind of an anxious overanalizer and it really soothed me. Wow. It's insane what you see as a huge ass problem can actually have very simple solutions. Bless uuuu queeeeeen 💚💚🙏🏼
Love that you have easy to read captions throughout the video! So so helpful to watch it anywhere, whether on the metro or elsewhere
Ur energy is so healing gah dayum
Beautifully put-stoicism's focus on personal growth and mastering oneself is timeless wisdom. Embracing virtues like courage and kindness brings clarity, even in challenging times. 🌿
This video alone changed my life. I come back to it every few days to remind myself these important lessons❤ thank you so much
I love the concept of stoicism.
Omg I did NOT expect this video to make me cry 😂😭😭😭 thank you you beautiful soul! 🙏🙌 I think I need that book you mentioned
Mae Alice Suzuki: Very profound in her own genuine way.
7:43 im eating a strawberry while watching this 🥹 ive been so lost, depressed, anxious and numb. ill appreciate this strawberry for those beautiful lost souls 🤍🪽
Shoutout to the universe for putting this video on my path! ❤ thank you for this info! I will change me
The algorithm recommended this for some reason and its all i needed rn. Thank you so much for this. New sub!
Hii, just wanted to say that I rlly appreciate your perspective, it's such a unique idea that I haven't seen been talked about so far. Being a stressed student who always subconsciously compares themselves to others and someone who's relatively sensitive and emotional, you don't understand how comforting it is to hear this! Ty and keep up the quality videos girll❤
Ur so amazing and sweet! Your words of affirmation throughout the video made me cry. You have such a beautiful soul
I love your videos , I have been having a lot of confidence issues and your videos really helped me stop being a people pleaser and I am workingonyour advice to make myself better. You are like an elder sister to me.❤
When I clicked on the video and you started talking, I immediately felt peace and calmness, you gained a new sub thank you for the lovely advice ❤
Maybe u can implement what you can from stoicism and look for other ways of life that work better with you mind U CAN DO IT !❤
i think more specific to you situation would be "controlling what you can" instead of "controlling yourself." If there are parts of yourself you can't control, there still can be other parts that you can control. for example, if a certain thing triggers you, you can control your exposure to it since you can't control your reaction to it.
i mean that's the point of stoicism ... it's about not trying to control your autism/adhd, because those things cannot be controlled
I feel the same way.
Yea I am in the same boat
I’m so greatful I came across this video and your page. I’m a mess and have tears in my eyes but I feel joy and bliss. Such a simple message, but so powerful. Thank you ❤
I appreciate ur existence
Girl, thankyou so much for being you !
I had been having a rough day and felt very lonely cause i grew as a person but my friends didn't and honestly everything that you've talked about, i relate to it so much. I'm so glad there's a person out there who thinks like me yk , all the spiritual stuff and self improvement. I'm so thankful for you for uploading this video.
thank you for reminding me of these values I discovered thru Ryan Holiday and practiced years ago at a depressing time in my life and stopped practicing them as life got "better". if I stuck to this mindset I would've picked myself up sooner. either way I'm glad I came across your video. it spoke life back into me! subbed
The last two minutes of this video made me cry. Thank you :)

That was beautiful. I am grateful for your life and for what you just taught me!
I love the way you speak when you say these things. It feels really genuine and a lot of the things I needed to hear to bring me back to this place. I come and go in and out of it but for the past decade I have spent more time out whereas before that, more time in. I adore you. Thank you, Mae.

Why was this video the EASIEST to comprehend out of the thousands of self-help videos ive ever watched!!! Love this content, thank you!
When you said "no enemies" it made me think of Vinland Saga, one of the best animes ever made!!
Just learned about stoicism rn but this is how i naturally try to live my life and im known as sweet. I do appreciate the extra guidance i am about to learn as i watch the video.
Love love your videos Mae so young and so wise
This is basically speed running DBT I love it. I wish everyone would internalize what she says in this
Bull 💩 you’ll constantly be stuck in a loop of “self improvement” which is a glittery version of “not good enough”. When in fact. You (me,we) ARE ALREADY PERFECTION.
Can't believe you have less than 10k subs - I was expecting to find 100,000!!! So glad I found your channel - badass vibes and great messages. I subscribed!
This video actually brought me comfort that I haven’t had all this year. I understand this more that you explained it, your energy and vibe is so calming🤍🤍

the last few words really meant alot to me. thank you. it made me cry
I dont really know what stoicism is, but I do what you said to in this video already. These are all amazing things to do and are greatly helpful. I never actually realized when I changed into adopting these practices, but I definutely think this way now, and I know i didnt use to.
off topic but i love how ur place is decorated! and the shibari frame in the back 😭 i love it
She’s back! 🎉🙏
i just cant. this was the first time I actually went wow.
And learning how to be grateful and learning how to accept things as they are also goes a long way
i love your style , i love your tips!
This video changed my life
Personally, I've had a different experience, and it also connects to me having different beliefs.
For what?
