Very cool as I'm looking at the Jupiter XM being hooked up to the Akai Key 37. I have the Akai Key 61 but it won't let me change presets halfway through a song which seems annoying unless there is way to do this. Having a MASSIVE live set with mostly MIDI all side chained to the Akai Key 61 would be great.
you didnt talk about why it generates one on beat 1, when you created one on beat 17. I can't have one on bar one, as it messes things up. I need it to be on bar 2 to get my electron to change correctly. I wonder if they will make those editable.... totally stumped as to how to get my electrons to switch at the right time, it goes around for one more loop before it will change
Good info. Question though. I am using the Main page controls - the ones you said to ignore - to send initial program change messages to my synths when a song is loaded. It works well, but I have not seen any documentation on this... and there is also a set of MIDI CC settings in the Program Edit mode for the MIDI program that I can't find anything about. These settings seem to occasionally (rarely) get sent to my synths and the inconsistency is frustrating. Have you ever examined this feature?
Hi, good vid! I want to use 16 midi channels. Midi 1 works, when I change to another track I’m not able to change sound, only midi 1 sound works. ie Prgram change is not changing anything when I’m not on Midi 1
It seems strange that it is called a ‘Live’ instrument. I understand that to change songs on stage you need to menu dive and load entire projects. This is rather cumbersome and slow to do in front of an audience between every song. Can someone please tell me that I’m wrong about this? Am I missing something, but does Akai Live have a ‘Live’ mode? By that I mean a mode where you can change projects by patch change messages? (with external patch change messages changing the Akai along with other synths, lights etc on stage) Any advice would be appreciated thanks - because besides this, Akai Live looks like a fantastic performance instrument!
Is it possible to do this in VST mode like Kontakt? With Kontakt, you can create your own bank of 128 presets. How can you change presets directly from the MPC in VST mode?
If you don't create your own bank, you can load 16 presets to the rack and change by midi channel up to 16. Being able to have 128 options with a bank would be nice
Question: If you have the midi out of an external synth connected to the midi in on an MPC one, and then press record and changes patches within the external synth by patch using the increment dial on the synth... Does the MPC one record that patch change data instead of manually inputting it each time? so basically, all the patch changes are transmitted From the external synth into the track being recorded and then can be played back to the synth from the MPC one. Is that possible, instead of the manual method ??
Actually I'm just having trouble triggering each different part with different midi channels from the pads. It plays the same part on every pad - when I change parts on mc303 it then plays that sound from each pad. By using sound module mode on 303 I managed to isolate channel 10 for drums but then couldn't change the sound for the other channels so all were playing the basic patch.
I expected to be able to select different sounds for each part, including drums for rhythm, and then use the djs1000 to trigger and sequence these via Midi
check this video on YT: ruclips.net/video/2PngH1TE_dA/видео.html I've tried this method with the M6 and it works like a charm. It's an expensive pedal though but it can do a lot of midi related stuff. If you have a foot switch already, you can try the Midi Solutions Footswitch to Midi box, and program it to send "program changes" to the MPC. In the MPC preferences - "General" you can then choose to have the MPC change sequences when receiving program change messages. Though the Live is a great machine, and getting better with each update, it's really a shame AKAI didn't at least add one control / expression pedal input to the LIVE (on the X there is 1, or maybe 2 if I remember well). Good luck!
beware the Midi Solution boxes must be powered by a MIDI device connected to its input! Not all MIDI devices send enough power for having the older Midi Solutions boxes to work properly (fixed with the V2 versions of there merge / thru boxes). From my experience most modern MIDI gear I have doesn't deliver enough power unfortunately. In that case you should buy a Midi Solutions power unit (that needs an external power supply), so together that's going to cost you maybe half or even 2/3th the price of a new M6 Mk2, while you get just a fraction of the functionality of the M6 and more cables / boxes....
Great Video.....but I have a question Is there any way to send program change messages TO the MPCX from other gear??? The reason I ask is....when we are creating music if we have other gear that we wish to search for sounds on, the natural thing to do is to find the sound on that piece of gear, not scroll with the MPC through the outboard gear sounds. It would be extremely nice if I could, for example, find a nice piano on my Fantom x6 and have the MPC automatically save the MSB and LSB value for that sound with the track information so that instrument will be recalled the next time I load that song. Right now the only way to do this is to find the sound I want and then MANUALLY put the MSB and LSB values into the midi program area of the MPCX. This is a long and VERY tedious process, especially when you are dealing with several different tracks.
If you’re inputting the msb and lsb values for a particular patch or preset for a synth, they will be saved with the project and therefore I’d assume that will send the correct program change to the synth. However I don’t know how your particular synths will respond so I can’t guarantee it will provide the behaviour you desire.
@@TUBEDIGGA you are correct.... If I put the values in manually they will be saved. But I was wondering if the MPC could automatically detect or read those values if a program was changed from the external synth controls... That would be a hell of a feature and would make life a lot easier.....(something for the wish list I guess) Thanks for the speedy reply!
@@TUBEDIGGA I know.... It's just a thought though. If the MPC can receive midi data from the outside synths couldn't it theoretically also receive the bank values for any patch you select on the outside synth? That would be amazing if it could....(fingers crossed)

I'm not sure if I fully understand. Are you saying you want it to change anytime you select a new sequence? The way you say you are doing it sounds correct, but you may have to put the same program message change at the start of the next sequence to lock it in (not sure why but it may help). Otherwise I need more info. You can contact me at tubedigga@gmail.com if you need a private tuition session
Ciao, sto avendo un problema, credo sia lo stesso di cui chiedevi. As said in the video, to create interesting variation in your sequences by switching programs - so the notes trigger different sounds at given points in the sequence.Rather than the notes playing the same sound constantly. Yes problem solved. Thanks so much I'm now happily changing patterns on my model samples
How do you set it up with model samples? And what happens each time you start again? Do model start at the right pattern again? :)
Yes. But the problem is. Each time it passes the bar the synth will jump back to the saved parameters. a one shot programme change would be sensefull.
