UPDATE: With the new 2.3 firmware update we now have access to 3 plugin programs (bassline, electric, and tubsynth) in standalone mode on the MPC LIVE!
because of you switching to the presentation on your pad, from what I've seen, this is one of your best video's about the MPC. This is so important to really understand and what you can do with it and the MPC's possibilities, when you do. And switching to just a simple diagram makes all the difference in explaining and understanding this. Great work again, my dear sir! *tips hat*
@@MatthewStratton I know right!? More because I was really struggling to get my head around it. Your explanation made all that difference in the world. Again, thank you!
Excellent. Been looking for this simple explanation of the MPC structure. So many videos just jump straight in to beat making assuming you know all this essential stuff.
Just got my MPC live too and like you said it's overwhelming but you have been the best at explaining the basics and how to get started with this I'm watching all your videos and trying to learn it all I know it's a lot but I want to thank you and please if you can do more of the basics the MPC live basically each button and what they do or a demonstration of what they do and how they work I know it's asking a lot I truly appreciate it man thank you
Great tutorial Matthew! Short, sweet and right to the point demystifying the dreadful: Sequence >>> Track >>> Song riddle. Look forward to the rest of your series
I am extremely new at working with an mpc and this is a fantastically explained tutorial all your videos are well explained and informative to the smallest point to the more complexed and your intro music is 🔥🔥 . Thanks for the lessons .
Dear sir Your video for MPC live all 29 video is worthless. Super demonstration. Super explanation. God bless you . We will pray for your good health and happy life Thank u
Love you vids! Bought my mpc live about a month ago and I'm an loving it so far. Your vids have been the most helpful. Your intros remind me of a Jesse Enkamp karate nerd videos. Thanks! Keep up the good work.
Hi Matthew!! Thanks for helping us with this incredible device. I do Latin music. Salsa, Bachata, and a lot of more. My question, if you are so kind to help me, is How many songs can be saved in the MPC 2? Thanks!!!
Welcome to the channel. There will definitely be more videos. In the mean time you can check out some of the other videos on the mpc that I have done. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you your videos are so informative. I have so many questions. The screen that comes on in the beginning how do I get back to it after I have started a project?
So if you record a guitar then send it to a midi track you free up the audio track? I don't get the 8 audio track limitation. So if you bake your audio track into midi track you can have 128+8 "audio tracks" in a song. ?
Hey Matt, say you make a song with sequences in song mode, when you save that song with sequences onto an sd card, will that song file pop up in a daw or play as the whole file/song when you go to play it in a video or on your computer video editor? Will the song mode save as is on the file of the sd card, and be able to be played in the order of the sequences that you put together in song mode? You don't have to use a daw at all right? Thanks...SBN RESONATE
jocamiah if you mean when you are loading them from the browser then you have to make sure no pads are selected. When in the browser make sure none of the pads are lit. You can check this by going to pad assign and making sure none of the pads are selected, if so, just tap the pad to deselect it.
I didn't see you illustrate where the program comes into play in your diagram. For instance, how many programs can you have to each track? Can you have multiple midi programs under 1 track?
Matthew, thanks for doing these videos. I am coming from making beats on a DAW. I decided I wanted to be more mobile, so I got an MPC live. Thanks for helping me be great! Keep it up!
I like doing these video and I am glad you are finding value in them. The mpc live is great for being mobile or even just coming up with ideas with out the computer. There is something about it being standalone that makes me feel more connected to the music making process.

i guess because i am guitar player that learned on a 4 track tape recorder is why all this is confusing.i guess i think i should be able to hit record and play.a lot of the terminology i am googling right now. in short its just not intuitive to me
@@songs481 Gotcha. Maybe in the future I can go over how the mpc live maybe useful for guitar players. I will totally agree that the MPC is not intuitive and it does take some studying to learn how to use it. It is a powerful machine though.
You can technically make whatever you want with it. You probably could do something like that for live use, but it would be a huge head ache to find work arounds for it to work. MPC LIVE is NOT intuitive.
@@MatthewStratton thanks for answering .i got two more questions please. can u plug midi key to it too?and can u stop/start sequences(like loopers)with mc6(morningstar) midi controller foot switch?and loop electric guitar?(basically using the pair of it and mc6 like looper)
