    I think this is the only way I will break my habit of rounding and pulling low. When I started in 2006 I had no concept of how to properly transmit hip power up the chain. I can throw with this form passably...@350 max, but of course it is less consistent and leaving a lot of power on the table. Thanks for this!

    Thanks for the content. I was hesitant at first because there is so much out there but there some gems in your videos. I like how you focus on how it FEELS to throw correctly. That's a hard thing to teach and probably the most important thing! Focused hips/footing drills you recommend?

    Questions for you:
    1)In a physical backhand throw out in the field or on the course, does your elbow bend NATURALLY once you brace on your plant and your body starts to rotate which then flings the foream through the shot? I know drills are usually performed to exaggerate specific motions or mechanics of the throw. Wondering if by me physically bending the elbow when I throw may accidentally engage some of the muscles in my bicep and makes my arm move a lot slower going into the power box
    2) When you brace, are you pressing downward into the ground more on your heel or do you feel like you are almost pressing your toes forward (as if your foot would slide out of the front of your shoe conceptually speaking). The latter to me feels like it forces more engagement in the quads and perhaps a stronger brace?
    Sorry for the long wall of text!

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  2 года назад

      The elbow kind of naturally bends as you rotate through the shot. Just focus on keeping the arm up and away from the body.
      When you brace, you should rotate off of your heel. It is harder to rotate off the toes.

    • @CyberDarkZero
      @CyberDarkZero 2 года назад +1

      @@iamRedviper Thanks for the quick reply! My body currently rotates off the heel naturally after the weight transfer to the plant foot but i have been making my arm bend into the plant rather than letting it naturally get there.. if that makes sense. I'll give it a try 🙂

    • @CyberDarkZero
      @CyberDarkZero 2 года назад

      Would you suggest keeping the shoulder closed and "elbow up" as best as possible when you rotate into the shot a good starting point? Because i would guess that the angular momentum upon the brace would make your shoulder naturally open

    When should your back foot leave the ground? I notice the best throwers like kyle and eagle lift their back foot off the ground before they pull thru? I guess it's hard to emulate with this drill and others as well as a stand-still. I believe a lot of power comes from that full weight transfer onto the plant. I haven't found a way to practice that tho.

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  3 года назад

      Don't think about lifting the foot. It's all about using the neck foot to push your body to generate power. You leg naturally comes off the ground during the throw. Wouldn't even think about it.

    Question. I notice when you added the disc to your hand the final result leaves your hand a disc length off the wall. 4:03 but without a disc your hand was on the wall at the finish. Does this matter?

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  3 года назад +1

      No, this is just practicing the throwing line to get a feel for it, don't look too much into it.

    • @samhowl1152
      @samhowl1152 4 года назад +1

      Lean forward, upper body angle controls the angle of the disc in the end. If you are accidentally throwing anhyzers, your upper body has to be leaned back. Film yourself and you'll likely see this is true.

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  4 года назад +1

      It's not exactly perfect on how your arm is going to travel every time. It's pretty close though. It's really about getting the feel of what the throw really feels like.

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  4 года назад +2

      Your hand may not follow the exact line, but this drill helps you to feel that you should not be pulling your hand away from line. Have to allow your arm to unwind after the power box without pulling your arm off the intended line.

    There's a product called FlighTowel that has a piece of a disc attached to a towel so you can whip the towel while holding a small piece of a disc.

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  4 года назад

    I'm a novice, but your towel snap sounds like a whoosh to me. I was expecting a snap like when you snap a wet rat-tail towel or crack a whip. Is it just supposed to sound like in your video?

    • @iamRedviper
      @iamRedviper  3 года назад

      It's not an absolutely loud snap. It's going to depend on the towel. It's really just a drill to get the feel of the throw. Wouldn't look too hard into the snap of the towel.
