I'm fine with them in games where they are a common thing so you expect them nnd can be prepared ie. Indigo prophecy, heavy rain and beyond two souls. Or if there is enough on screen to indicate that your going to need to before you have to
specially in kingdom hearts 2. Yeah it's my first time so I have to learn it, but damn this goes on for hours! I finally wanna see all the cool disney stuff, that's why I got the game in the first place!
I hated the tutorials in kh 1 and 2 so much I made a save at the end of them then saved the rest of the games on a separate memory card so every time I played after I just loaded the memory card with the tutorials finished then switched to the other memory card before saving the "new" playthrough.
Ever since the hopeless battle in Crisis Core I hate survival based missions where you need to hold out against x waves of enemies cause I keep flashing back to Zack and how as you fight the unending wave of soldiers and helicopters the dmg you take starts to go from normal to extremely high and the dwm or other starts breaking down and basically is showing Zack's life flashing before his eyes till the very last segment where you can't even move normally any more, your limping horribly, dwm has completely broke down is not spinning anymore, and you have to muster ever last bit of energy you have left just to swing the sword because he is hurt so bad but the enemy is just fine and still coming endlessly then the screen fading to black as you hear gun shots going off still my most emotional moment in gaming R.I.Pperoni Zack the puppy/hero you will always be missed.
What about the games that take away all your items, weapons, etc. I dread that, it's in Skyrim, frequently in the Wolfenstein games, and even Bioshock.
Try breath of fire dragonquarter the whole game is a timed mission and when u use dragon powers u shorten ur time... i fucked up halfway by abusing said power and was locked in place
I like making decisions. makes any game better. decisions that actually alter the world is the difference between new vegas and fallout 4. between having a choice of being a douchebag or the shiny hero. there are too many games that force you to be good nowadays.
Playing as someone other than the main character. I remember Chrono Cross and how the game forced you to play in the body of the villian Lynx for the majority of the game.
simple game details that blew our minds. for example my husband could not get over the mud in uncharted 4 and the way it splashed around and covered vehicles and clothes and when you went into water it would wash off and everything woud be wet. :) -hazelnuthailey
Agree with every word this video said. Also, I often save before making a decision (such as in Witcher 3) and try each option to figure out which is best. As for getting lost, I enter a dungeon and go left whenever I get a choice, which statistically improves my odds of seeing as much as possible (especially in Fallout New Vegas where this method always results in me seeing every part of every cave).
I totally agree with the first half of this list yet disagree with the second one - as I actually like stuff like making choices or loosening up the game with some different game elements ;)
"Defend this thing that's charging in this spot from wave after wave after wave after wave... oh no, an enemy sneezed on it, RESTART!" - Prototype was terrible for this "Wow, look at all your impressive abilities and powers. So cool. So amazing... aaaaand they're gone. Welcome to the world of RUN FOR YOUR LIFE LIKE YOU'RE PLAYING DARK SOULS WITH NO ITEMS!" "Backtrack to all the places that you've ever seen to find a thing that may-or-may-not be in any given area in order to move the story forward an inch"
#6 has to be my worst struggle of them. Trying to make sure I explore every inch of the map for hidden loots and avoid the actual path until I'm certain I've done so.
MIchael Chivers Blackreach was a goddamn nightmare for me. I'm the sort that has to look in every nook and cranny and loot *all* the things. And for this reason I have really good directional sense in dungeons. But not Blackreach, oh no. It's so big and a lot of it looks similar enough that building a mental map of it is damn near impossible. I've spent hours roaming in Blackreach.
People do like to take control of crucial things that happen in their life, whether it is their real life or their virtual one. What people really hate is when you have to make a choice between two important things in the game. I personally hate choices like, who do you want to save or with whom do you want to stay with, in The Walking Dead series. Why can't I just save both of them!
Stealth sections where detection means instant failure. I'm know I'm terrible at being stealthy, stop rubbing it in by making me repeat it over and over! It's even worse when its a surprise stealth section in a non stealth game. It's hard enough in a game designed around doing so, but in a game that has barely any stealth mechanics at all is a nightmare.
Ditto on FF7 being the favorite game ever for me too!! You Sir have impeccable taste in entertainment!! I'll fight Sephiroth with you any day and any time💪👊🤘🤝
This Monday i'm gonna make my return into the PlayStation family, buy getting a PS4, so excited! The only other PS console i have is PS One, but it died couple of years ago :( What games should i instantly buy? xD
Just wanted to compliment you guys. Very entertaining. I don't even own a playstation I have an xbox and the only reason I have that is because I won it. But you guys portray the essence of gaming. It's a wonderful aggravating captivating enjoyable frustrating release. It's nice to see that the things I go through gaming aren't just a sole experience, but experienced by other groups of people. Gaming has probably quite literally saved my life so I hold a place dear to my heart for it and I appreciate that you guys genuinely care and relive your own experiences in a way that makes me watch the videos and say "yeah I feel that I hear you I've been there". And if ever should I get enough money to buy a playstation I sure as heck will. I've just fought my way out of homelessness and eating out of dumpsters to survive but eventually I'll have the cash to get one. And when I do I would love to be able to play a game with any of you. Cheers!
Your videos take me back to nostalgic times where reviewers were legit gamers who enjoyed the art and industry. Well done guys, amazing creation as always.
Good music, though. Donk-donk, deesh-deesh, donk-donk. It's basically a slowed-down version of some of the other music in the game with some creepy sounds added. Some experimentation finds 7/3 speed gets it sounding pretty close to the original.
1:03 Time Limits 3:28 Underwater Sections 5:02 Escort Missions 6:35 Abstract Soul-Searchy bits 8:11 Playing as another character 9:20 Making any kind of choice 10:53 Surprise Genre switches
The only one I disagreed with was making choices. I love choice based games like Until Dawn, Life Is Strange, and the Mass Effect series (Can't wait for Mass Effect: Andromeda!)
I dread the limit of time. Even if I know I have plenty of time. My palms sweat and Im shaking. BTW, its not for Bahamut Zero, its a Huge Materia. Oh and its horrible. The first time challenge in the Fire Cavern in FF8 even though it screws up my SeeD score, I pick the most time on the limit. Oh finally Sonic's underwater drowning limit make my butt cheeks clench. Oh oh ooof...dont make me make a choice. I get lost.
“Toxic rise” sections-bits like that sewer bit in Ratchet and Clank, where you have to run away from something (usually liquid and lethal) that’s filling up the room/corridor you’re in, and there’s a million and one things in the way. I named them after a bit in Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy where you have to climb a silo filling up with poison rather quickly, literally called “Toxic Rise”
Rob another great video. I absolutely hate timers and having to escort stupid useless and annoying people like Ashley in Re4. I too can't decide on paths at times. More the physical ones like direction. Thanks for the video. Totally enjoy these. Cheers
Speak for yourself, I love abstract soul-searchy bits. They make me understand the characters better and they tend to have trippy visuals and often even great boss fights.
Thing that a game does that just instantly makes me dislike it, when the whole game is time based. So games like Lightning Returns and Majora's Mask, I hate them. Absolutely hate them 😐
I personally like Majoras Mask which is funny becuse I hate its predecessor Ocarina of Time. Considering the fact that you have almost complete control over time in this game I dont really get why people have a problem with it It was not dreadful in the slightest. You have all time in the world in Majoras Mask.
Those bits in Tomb Raider when they take your weapons away, and make you navigate unknown corridors, avoid baddies, swim underwater, avoid the flesh eating sea dwellers, pull a lever, swim all the way back to the corridor of baddies, and find the door you unlocked that might possibly be on a timer, but your weapons are in there...

The answer is always no, not till I have done everything and anything in that area and even then do I struggle to say yes! :P

I have a slightly different problem. I end up having to decide between rushing through or finishing everything, making neither option enjoyable.

Here's an idea for your next video - "7 times QTE made us hate life" ............... Imagine ...............Rob all comfy and calm in his sofa with his controller in hand when Nathan starts shouting in his face "press X, press X, press X (or whatever)"
I'm fine with them in games where they are a common thing so you expect them nnd can be prepared ie. Indigo prophecy, heavy rain and beyond two souls. Or if there is enough on screen to indicate that your going to need to before you have to
Your loss kid.
What about tutorials? Everyone hates tutorials when you already know what to do
specially in kingdom hearts 2.
A Rios you mean unskipable
i hate tutorials but sometimes skipping them means missing some game mechanic
jake peralta
yeah, saldy. I mean the first time playing it's okay and understandble, but for later it would be great to skip them.
Cursed Dragon ...this hit me on a spiritual level
Cursed Dragon Why did you have to remind me ;-;
Cursed Dragon That is probably the only time I really cried for a character death in a game.
Yes, R.I.Pperoni, Zack.
ajmrowland Just don't finish Ff15 or Type - 0 as they'll also tear your heart and Persona 3 is the reason I don't feel anymore T. T
Demi-Fiend of Time have no interest in type 0 but I will get ff15 and yea pesona 3 huh the feels.
"Playing as someone else" - The whole of Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain
Ordinary Username Shhhh spoilers. :P
Sarthak Verma If they don't know by now they deserve to be spoiled
The whole of the MGS series except for 3.
+ThatOneManiac That's a stupid mentality to have. Maybe some people are just getting into the series now.
Ordinary Username I like playing as other than the main characters
What about the games that take away all your items, weapons, etc. I dread that, it's in Skyrim, frequently in the Wolfenstein games, and even Bioshock.
The whole time limit thing is why I never got into the Dead Rising series.
zaqzilla1 At first, I was like that, but I coped with the time and actually 72 hours is a REALLY long time in Dead Rising
Try breath of fire dragonquarter the whole game is a timed mission and when u use dragon powers u shorten ur time... i fucked up halfway by abusing said power and was locked in place
After 3 day. I play gta in dead rising 2....
But it's the level system and cheap bosses that's gonna get you
collect several items before you continue the story
Yeah, I hate those! They break story immersion completely
windwaker... ugh

-hazelnuthailey
The Ellie mission in the last of us was my favourite part of the last of us. It showed us how badass Ellie really is
Hey Niko... wanna go bowling?
NO!! God!! No god, please no!! NO!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
majima
Lol I don’t know how to
Agree with every word this video said.
Hacking minigames. It's almost as if there's an unwritten law saying that they're supposed to suck.
TheLegolasguy Not as bad as the mandatory mosaic puzzle in old school click adventures
I totally agree with the first half of this list yet disagree with the second one - as I actually like stuff like making choices or loosening up the game with some different game elements ;)
DaijDjan I agree with you! I like making choices that affects the game. It makes it feel more realistic and helps to emerge me.
I genuinely think id prefer light torture over team building exercises
Xray Shaun what's the difference
Speeding Ticket Torture is straightforward.
video game: " Hey buddy I'm going to need you to go grind for the next 50 hours at least just to get to the next level".
Me: Oh God please no.
"Defend this thing that's charging in this spot from wave after wave after wave after wave... oh no, an enemy sneezed on it, RESTART!" - Prototype was terrible for this
"Wow, look at all your impressive abilities and powers. So cool. So amazing... aaaaand they're gone. Welcome to the world of RUN FOR YOUR LIFE LIKE YOU'RE PLAYING DARK SOULS WITH NO ITEMS!"
"Backtrack to all the places that you've ever seen to find a thing that may-or-may-not be in any given area in order to move the story forward an inch"
Choosing which way to go at T-junctions really spoke to my heart. It set my triggers acquiver.
what was everyone's first playstation
my one was the ps1
luck myst3r i never had a PlayStation
Nintendo 64.
luck myst3r ps 3
luck myst3r ps1, second was ps4....
luck myst3r ps2, the beast
C'mon, I love the soul searching parts and playing with other characters. I want a Ciri DLC!
"OMG I went through the water and my clothes are actually wet!" best line ever.
*Equip, unequip, equip, unequip...*
Damn you iron boots, and damn you limited slots.
#6 has to be my worst struggle of them. Trying to make sure I explore every inch of the map for hidden loots and avoid the actual path until I'm certain I've done so.
David Freeman dude yes. The worst is opening a door and watching a cinematic begin when you know you haven't explored everywhere.
Hang on what about in games like skyrim the game asks you to go through an endless dungeon. Bloody labyrinthian and Blackreach
I found following the dog to be more annoying than going into large dungeons
If everybody hates making choices, then why the bloody hell everyone keeps buying games from Telltale?🙀
DeltaOblivion you'll notice none of the Telltale games were even mentioned. :)
Zodiac spear You got me there! lol😺
because people actually like making choices, Rob doesnt tho
it's more like no one really wants to make bad choices
People do like to take control of crucial things that happen in their life, whether it is their real life or their virtual one. What people really hate is when you have to make a choice between two important things in the game. I personally hate choices like, who do you want to save or with whom do you want to stay with, in The Walking Dead series. Why can't I just save both of them!
Quicktime events in general.
And those moments when the game take all you gears away, and you dont know when you will get them back, terrifying!
Thank you for the PTSD flashback to the Ratchet and Clank Sewer Run. That section killed my run for weeks.
Fighting two bosses at the same time. WHY?
And they also regenerate
In 5) Ciri from Witcher 3 was soooo OP im cool they made segments for her and not doing it off scren.
This is my new favorite YT channel, I have spoken.
The only other PS console i have is PS One, but it died couple of years ago :(
What games should i instantly buy? xD
Ruskonation for honor,noah and destiny
Ruskonation gta
Ruskonation horizon zero dawn
Ruskonation yooka laylee or 1.5&2.5 collection or maybe even crash bandicoot n sane trilogy.
Bloodborne for sure, as well as Horizon, probably Witcher 3 aswell
*Fetch quests without the exact location of the item.*
Actually fetch quests at all really.
One of my favorite games took me years to finish because of a _single room._
the timed maze.
FFXV chapter 13 is the coolest cause it made me feel like I was playing a horror game.
Reminds me the two nightmare levels from Max Payne. Ugh that baby crying.
That baby was lucky it was already dead or i wouldve killed it myself.
Good music, though. Donk-donk, deesh-deesh, donk-donk.
It's basically a slowed-down version of some of the other music in the game with some creepy sounds added. Some experimentation finds 7/3 speed gets it sounding pretty close to the original.
He forgot about lava rising levels
Ahh yes.. The evil villian's trap or now exploding and sinking base.
1:03 Time Limits
3:28 Underwater Sections
5:02 Escort Missions
6:35 Abstract Soul-Searchy bits
8:11 Playing as another character
9:20 Making any kind of choice
10:53 Surprise Genre switches
Remember in MGS3 when you fall in the dark cave after a fight with Ocelot? I had to revisit that part when it happened
What about the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Water Temple?
The only one I disagreed with was making choices. I love choice based games like Until Dawn, Life Is Strange, and the Mass Effect series (Can't wait for Mass Effect: Andromeda!)
So FF15 is going to be in every video, forever I take it?
time to start the FF15 tally
Tantalus Rob loves it.
It was a good game and I've yet to see him throw it in there for literally no reason. Same with metal gear.
rageoftyrael that true
6:45 I actually love those from this point on
"what drink you're going to have with your lunch" surely it's Dr pepper rob! Dr pepper is the real life version of phoenix downs
No Dr pepper is the real life version of the Estus Flask... better analogy
I get lost.
Yes, you can't make a video about underwater levels and don't mention Sonic's underwater drowning and the annoying music. I hate that music.
do du do du do du do du do du do du do du do du dodudodudodudodudodudodudodudoduDODUDODUDODUDODU
DU!
Jonathan Friedman his palms are sweaty knees weak arms are heavy
*opens his mouth, jumps up, and drowns then Tails laughs..*
Pretty sure that huge materia is the blue one that gives you Bahamut zero when you inspect it in cosmo canyon
in The last of Us I like that part we got to play as Ellie
i love the train mission lolol ^^
I like it purely for the music
Up yours mate, the Ellie part of The Last of Us was stellar. I was almost mad when I had to be Joel again.
The worst time section is getting black spindle
Rob another great video. I absolutely hate timers and having to escort stupid useless and annoying people like Ashley in Re4. I too can't decide on paths at times. More the physical ones like direction. Thanks for the video. Totally enjoy these. Cheers
Or when they take all your gear and you have to get it back
Or when they take all your gear and you have to get it back
what about when your asked to kill paarthurnax in skyrim 😭
"Have at you Snake" I'll never forget that.
You don't want to play the original System Shock on the hardest difficulty settings, then. The toughest one for Plot imposes a time limit on the game.
i hate these as well. loved 13 and 13-2 but because of this could not play lightning returns.
What was everyone's first console mine was the N64
thatsaboutit SNES
thatsaboutit Sinclair Spectrum 48K
Sega Mega Drive.
Had a Sharp MZ700 before that, but not sure that counts as a console.
ps2, but the first game i played on it was a ps1 game.
Awesome stuff
Time attacks in racing games. The WORST
I literally agree with this entire video. I couldn't help but smile and nod at the entire thing.
isn't it adorable how Rob and Dave have matching sweaters?
Rob, how much money would you had to be paid to say "The switch is better than the ps4" on this channel?
Chris IT JUST IS NOT BETTER!
Gottstein_3 Is it even better than a Ps3 or 360? Nintendo seems to be dropping the ball a lot here lately.
Chris u mean better than ps1
So how much for him to lie?
how bout that Switch launch library tho, that's Uber captivating

Those bits in Tomb Raider when they take your weapons away, and make you navigate unknown corridors, avoid baddies, swim underwater, avoid the flesh eating sea dwellers, pull a lever, swim all the way back to the corridor of baddies, and find the door you unlocked that might possibly be on a timer, but your weapons are in there...
I relate to Rob more than any other youtube personality or celebrity I've ever encountered.
