We buy games to enjoy them. How we enjoy them is up to us. There's no shame in playing on easy. Actually, I'll go a step further. People who tell those asking for advice on handling a difficult part of a game to "get good" are morons.
fedos Generally, I agree, but I do throw out the occasional "git gud" to people I know. I've been trying for years to get friends to actually try getting anywhere in dark souls.
fedos You got that right, that goes for any game one such game i've noticed that people look down on others who play differently is minecraft, players will say several things about how you are not a true mincrafter (playing on easy or peaceful or playing on a console instead of the pc) when really minecraft is a game to be played however you want.
NUUU!! my enjoyment is based on weather or not complete strangers play the same way i do!! don't use console commands on your game! it ruins my experience!!
I think there's nothing wrong with putting a game on easy particularly if you're playing for the story/plot. I do it all the time in the resident evil series
No shame in playing easy, especially on a game you haven't played before. I always play on the easiest first, get familiar. Then I ramp up as I clear the difficulties until I master it. Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3 - did it. Horizon Zero Dawn - didn't do story difficulty but the easy mode above it. Although it doesn't matter what difficulty as Thunderjaws are nervewracking to fight no matter what your difficulty.
WrestleeCrazyGamer+ it depends on how you approach them, for me. However those Rockbreakers that burrow everywhere are a big pain and their constant burrowing makes it hard to trap them or slow them down, not to mention their constant projectiles. So they are harder than Thunderjaws for me anyway.
I played the game on hard mode on the first attempt. I'm not a great or serious gamer, but I didn't find it that hard. I don't really undestand why people find thunderjaws so difficult. You set a few explosive traps and lure them, if you have the trip caster powerd up, around 12 will kill it. With a more direct approach you can just use that weapon that removes the machines' parts (don't know it in english), so you can destroy the machine guns and the disc launchers, and then you just have to dodge and use the explosive sling shot until they die. I do agree that Rockbreakers and the Stormbird are more challenging!
I always assumed all the driving I did in games would help me when I started driving IRL. I picked it up pretty quick, but I don't think games helped...
I always start games on Easy Mode and finish the game.. then if I actually like the game I play it again on Normal then Hard.... etc. I have enjoyed every single one of them. I am happy and feel no shame.. not even a bit. hahaha.
I do kind of the same, but different. Always the second hardest mode, or hardest, if that one would be normal, and then after playing it through I go to the hardest. Don’t judge me, it’s just that I kind of need the thrill in games and I get bored to quickly if it is too easy. That’s just for me personally.
I wouldn't consider that stupid. I actually think it gives you the opportunity to decide which difficulty are you most comfortable with. Because honestly, going down the difficulty is easier than going up xD I usually start with normal, so respect to you :)
I always play a game on easy. The first time I play through a new game I don't want the frustration of dying multiple times from enemies three times more powerful than me. I want to experience the story, the world, the mechanics, the music, and the characters. I want to be able to play through the game and relax, take my time and chill and enjoy it. I have played some games on harder modes but only after I beat them once on easy. At one point when I was younger, yes, I made it my goal to beat ever difficulty level, mostly due to extras that could only be unlocked once you beat that level. So I had something to motivate me. But if there are no extras, I stick with easy. Again, less stressful, easier to enjoy the game in a calm, collective manner instead of needing a punching bag afterward. And no, I'm not ashamed.
dude I feel your pain I've been pushing through the game and no matter how many times I've had to retry a mission I've NEVER put on the chicken hat and that's coming from a guy who plays every game on easy mode until I feel confident enough in my abilities to play on normal I've still never beaten Skyrim on anything higher than novice but DMC Reboot I've beaten that game on every difficulty setting from human all the way to Hell and Hell mode all seven difficulty settings
1:32 "There are many reasons you'd put a game on easy mode" 1 of them is if you succ badly. Happened to all of us, no one is born with master dodging and combo memorizing skills. :D
After a workplace-accident few years back that left my right hand and wrist with steel plate and screws, missing bone and nerve pain, i often need to turn down the difficulty to easy. My fingers don't just react as quickly as before and while i've missed the challenge of Deathmarch-Withcher 3 i still got to experience the great stories it told while playing on easy-mode. I'm very interested in Bloodbourne and the Souls-games, but i've found it physically impossible to win fights in those games past the first 30 minutes. I'd appreciate if those games had some sort of easy/tourist-mode that dropped the challenge way down, but maybe disabled trophies or something like that. Let's hope that the 5th operation on my hand in the coming months doesn't make things worse...
markotark The trick with Dark Souls is that there is a kind of easy mode. It's just about your gear and character build. TechPhantomReviewer has a Playlist of the first dark souls in this "easy mode." I'll see if I can put a link up. Not sure how on my phone.
I'd totally play the Souls games on easy mode, if not only to troll the hardcore Souls fans. For whatever reason, it ruins their experience of the game, lol.
my friends brother was in an accident in highschool, his hands don't work too well now, they stay in sort of a curled open fist and his wrists bent I was amazed to see how he taught himself to play with the control upside down with buttons facing the floor his thumbs lack the dexterity so he uses his middle and index fingers to work most of the controls hope your surgeries have gone well and you continue to game as long as you wish
I play a game called "Life" and I have (+) amazing graphics (+) very flexible soundtrack (+) a great character with good skills and stats (-) Character is poorly designed (-) Not much costumes and headgear (-) There is no Save Point (-) Stamina that seems to increase overtime but will decrease over time (-) 1 Life (-) No infinite money (-) No infinite resources (-) Very limited character inventory space (-) Party Members are mostly jerks (-) Loading when going places takes forever (-) too many mini games with little to no reward (-) Stores don't accept selling stuff (-) The main quest is as hard as hell (-) You need to have a certain amount of money each episode to continue playing (-) There are no healing potions or mana potions (-) There are no visual icons if you are inflicted with a de-buff (-) De-buff medicine does not work immediately
Clifford Merielle You forgot a few things. (-) Convoluted storyline with no clear goals. (-) No dungeon crawling or side quests for easy loot and resources. (-) Very few character customization options, and most of them are not immediate. Also, only Human as available race. (-) Running around with weapons is frowned upon. (+/-) Realistic character interaction.
What about Bioshock: Infinite? The final battle where you have to simultaneously stay alive and defend the engine of the ship is one of the biggest difficulty spikes I've seen in video games.
If you specced into guns only, then yeas it's a nightmare. Meanwhile I had a ghost gun with infinite ammo and was constantly possessing enemies to do my bidding, mwah ha ha
I play Skyrim on easy all the time. I could handle playing it on a harder difficulty but it's one of those games where I just don't want to try and I'd rather just relax and enjoy it.
NecromanciPottamus Otherwise known as "Fake Difficulty". It's a setting where it does nothing but raise the damage done to you and raises the enemies' health to ridiculous amounts. It's incredibly lazy for the developers and really annoying for the player.
I consider myself a "hardcore casual" player. I play a lot of games, but I have real problems in life, what with being an adult and all. I play games to relax, unwind, and escape into an experience after my day/week is over. I'm glad that others like their levels of challenge, and even happier that I can find a nice balance for mine. :-D
Same here. I get stressed out enough at work, I don't need any more frustrations during my precious free time. Sure, there's a thrill in 'beating' the game on the hardest difficulty or getting that platty, but bragging rights don't pay the bills my friends.
+Brick fan66 I've no idea--I find trophies to be amusing pop-ups. I'm not really competitive at all, but again, Play for Fun. fedos, below, stated it well. But to your question: I think 16 or so? Those might be Gold, though. Don't know. Don't care LOL ;-)
Same, the only time I even attempt harder modes or platinum trophies is if I really like the game and even then only if it's possible, I play games for fun, not stress, it's normal or bust other than that dood :3
neocerebus i've have completed uncharted 1,2 and 3 on Crushing difficulty and got platinum trophy for each game and i must say,it at times is a bit frustrating but it's a pretty fun and challenging way to play the "Uncharted" games.
I completed both uncharted 2 and 3 on crushing, but as odd as it might sound, i just cant complete the first one on crushing. i think they tuned down the crushing mode a little bit after the first game
Sempre They didn't turn down the crushing difficulty. They just refined the controls and gameplay so much more in the second game. Uncharted 1 was the first of a brand new franchise with a new engine and created to run on a brand new console which left it with quite jerky and sloppy controls and AI in places, and with the second game being such a step up, it just made crushing mode that much easier.
I'M A FILTHY CASUAL WHO PLAYS GAMES ON EASY BECAUSE IF I STRESS OUT I'LL END UP WITH A MIGRAINE THAT WOULD PUT BACK IN THE ER!!! I DON'T WANT TO GOT BACK TO THE ER IT SMELLS FUNNY!!
The last of us. I was playing on hard and everything was great. yeah, I died, a lot, but it was still playable. But then they put me upside down with only my gun to pick them off best I can, and I realized I'm a Terrible shot! I tried for hours lowering the level to normal and then easy and I felt so dirty.
I think a few episodes ago, he said during his Friday Feature video (I assumed jokingly at the time) that they only recorded so many tallies. Guess they need to record some more.
I only ever play games on their normal or otherwise middle of the difficulty tree. Like having a challenge but also want to beat the damn game in a timely fashion.
+William Orlando Figueroa This was about games where you *chose the lower difficulty*, not games that forced you to play on a higher difficulty to complete.
Beat the game on very hard. Hah! But that wasn't without failing over and over and over and over and over and over and etc. again. Thought I was tough stuff until I switched to Master Ninja and Hahahaha the game said No. You aren't going any further than that 2nd level. Gtfo. :(
I mostly play on easy when it lets me. I don't have much time to play anything while just about raising three kids and trying to potty train my three yr. old nephew. My sister and I played Castlevania 64 on its version of easy mode and it only lets you go to the halfway point. We were kinda pissed because it took us forever to get to that point. Not to mention how long it took us to figure out that stupid astronomical puzzle in the planetarium! Or getting stuck in the hedge maze safe zone for a half an hour because we were too scared to leave. The guy was chasing us with a chainsaw! Or the statue that bleeds for no reason and we kept walking by it on the other side of the room until we figured it out. I jump scared my sister with the lightning that hits the tree in the beginning when she played it for the first time at night. I loved that game.
I always play games on easy mode, I play games for the story and the sights to see, if I have things killing me too often it makes it seem more like a job than a game. The only game I can remember that I didn't play on easy was uncharted 4
I play games on easy all the time. I want to enjoy them, but I have a tendency to rage quit when I get frustrated. So yes, despite the fact the I often just sit and play for hours on end, I am indeed a "casual" gamer, and I say that without any shame whatsoever.
I've put uncharted series on easy after beating them on crushing just so I could go back and collect all the treasure. I mean who wants to deal with a million brutes when your looking for trinkets in the jungle?
I used to have a tradition with an old friend. With each new halo game we'd do 2 player co-op on legendary on launch day. It was our new halo happy dance.
Miss Kilo hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahshshahhahaahahhahahaha casual filth hahaahahahahahahahshshshshshahaaahahahahaha i bet you play dota on ez mode. WITH BOTS HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA....WEAKLING. I am actually really sad and empty inside :'(
xenteko Why would he care what difficulty level someone else plays at? Unless you somehow mean someone turning his games difficulty up.. in which case, what would stop him from turning it back down? In your mind was the difficulty level stuck on what ever level this "someone" put it on?
He said he doesn't care what difficulty he plays a game on. Which sounds like bullshit. If he genuinely didn't care, he'd be just as content playing on Very Hard as on Very Easy. What he most likely means is that he doesn't care that he need to turn a game down to easy. Which isn't the same thing as not caring which difficulty he's playing on.
xeamnz I played The Witcher 2 on easy mode my first time (realise you're talking about 3, but still...), then played it on hard. I found hard mode easier to beat though, strangely enough. Even though a full year passed between each playthrough.
xeamnz can't do that. It's a turn based, strategic combative game. You're cutting out one of the biggest parts of the game, learning how each monster fights and becoming a professional as the game goes on
Yes!! The stealth module in MGS! I was about 11 when I played this 1st and if it wasn't for a friend I wouldn't of made it to the end ... I watched him play multiple times. Sooo kinda knew what to do just wasn't great at doing it back then! The good old days lol
There's a thing called a "casual gamer" all you hardcore pplz :) we like to enjoy the game rather than snapping our keyboards in half and breaking our controllers in frustration. :3
There is no "casual gaming" when playing survival horror games, just 100% hardcore immersion and drinking blood orange juice while pausing the game for even MORE horror and immsion :D
i could be considered a casual gamer at times, but i usually play games at medium difficulty. there is a certain satisfaction in finishing something you struggled with for a long time, and if it barely requires effort, it starts to bore me
In Quest of Glory V the difficulty dictates not only how difficult the enemies are but their abundance as well. When a friend told me this I started changing it to the highest setting right before a skirmish so the area would spawn a hundred enemies then pause and nurf it down to the easiest so they would be easy to take down and I would get far more coin for my "trouble." No, I'm not old (27) I just played a lot of RPGs as a child.
I think this is the first time I've seen someone mention QfGV outside of forums and sites dedicated to it. I felt alone, as if I was the only person of my generation (24) to play it. Good to see that isn't the case! xD
At the final boss in "Wolfenstein:The New Order" I died so many times that I switched from "Bring'em on" to "Don't hurt me" and finally to "Can I play daddy?".Now I admitted it,mock me all you want.
Despite having a reputation for being good at hard games including doing no death runs on Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodborne (Demon's still ruins my attempts) I tend to play most games on easy first time so I can get as much enjoyment from the story as possible, only upping the difficulty if the game is too easy that it's boring.
Will Riley that's exactly what I do! But then I'll up the difficulty in subsequent play throughs to challenge my knowledge and skills in the game. And if it becomes too challenging I'll lower the difficulty. Honestly I don't see why some people get mad at the people who play on easy mode it shouldn't really matter. Especially if you enjoyed the game.
which is exactly what game developers intended when they created their game especially for new games or gamers new to certain genres and gameplay mechanics, why do people think its expected to be instantly awesome at every game they play first time? its ridiculous
Devil May Cry has a special place in my heart. I was in 6th grade when I got it and my PS2, and due to family issues and finances, it was the only game I owned for any console because I had to get rid of every other game to get my PS2 and to help the family. So I started the game on normal, got exactly where you did (nightmare) and for several days I cried because I couldn't get past it and I knew it was the only game I was going to be playing for a long time. [roughly 4 months went by before I owned another game] But I started the game over on easy and for a few weeks I played it religiously and beat it several times, then ended up being so good at it I went to hard and skipped normal altogether, and by the end of my time with the game, I knew where everything was and could beat the game on the hardest difficulty with zero issues minus the fight against the slime puddle for the last time, and because I spent so much time and became so intimate with the game, it has been something I've gone back to several times and have loved it more and more each time. That's partially why the reboot upset me so much. PS: I liked the reboot for being a fun hack and slash action game with some neat set pieces and some stunning visuals at certain points, but the characters and writing were the wrong kind of campy for me and I felt it would have been better off being it's own new IP instead of trying to claim it was going to beat out and revive the DMC name and franchise.
I played Arkham Asylum on easy the first time. I wasn't allowed to play video-games much as a kid, so Arkham Asylum was one of the first "real" games I played.
As a child and teenager, I would have never done the easy mode. Now, as an adult with a 40h /week work and not that much time to play games anymore, I put my games often on easy just to progress in the story faster.
"EH?? EASY MODO??" "HOW LAME" "ONLY KIDS PLAY IN EASY MODE!" I feel these quotes from an old meme are relevant once again. Surprised no one commented that yet.
spongebobfan78 what about Brutal difficulty from "Uncharted:The Nathan Drake Collection?"(extremely difficult, more difficult than Crushing Difficulty,it is like Realistic Difficulty from COD:Black Ops 3).
Brick fan66 It's a meme from the Touhou Project series. The games are so ridiculously difficult, but the fans shun you if you play on the lowest difficulty, thus sparking the meme Easy Modo.
Mata Nui its not so much a problem as it is a joke, i think everybody knows games(single players) are supposed to be personal experiences, so play it however you feel like. but again everybody gets tempted to brag about defeating a game in hardest difficulty possible or making jokes about easy mode.
Jokes are fine, for a while. But when everybody, everywhere, starts making the same belittling jokes, it starts getting REALLY annoying. I'm fine with harmless jokes, but these are telling someone that they are inferior. Even if the joksters don't really mean it, it gets really infuriating after a while. And this comes from someone who only plays on easy when he dislikes the gameplay but still wants to experience whatever else the game has to offer, I still play games like Dark Souls, or Ironman EU4.
I almost did this with Metal Gear Rising Revengance with the final boss. No health packs at all... I died so, so many times trying to beat him. Until finally I got lucky enough to get through that boss fight. That was so difficult
jamzacez On Rising Revengence, I just couldn't help but get jumpy at the Rock cutting segments that insta kill. I thought I'd run out of time and instead ran out of precision. I had to watch a RUclips video showing how much time the game gives you to cut through and then got the needed calmness to ignor the tension and cut the thrown objects.
My hard part was getting to there, I didn't have much health and no nano packs (Because idiot me didn't know that all the stages previous to that you had to lose, and my packs were an auto heal) lol so I basically had to play it perfect, just to get to where I could cut the rocks in half. Once I made it to the second time cutting them in half, I was good, but that took SO many attempts
Wonder if Rob will do a "7 times we cheated in a video game" whether that being money glitches in Dragon Age Origins, using the bookcase glitch in Skyrim or say using instant health/limit gauge in Final Fantasy 7 in order to beat the Ruby Weapon so you can get the platinum, wait what do you mean these are rather specific cheats/glitches what no I haven't used any of these.
I was so proud & pleased 2 make it thru all my brother's Call of Duty games on normal combat mode the very 1st time I borrowed them & tried, but I have changed 2 easy 4 games I want 2 take my time & focus more on story & exploration. I have also managed 2 play thru a couple of games on the hardest difficulty when I was in the mood.
Me I'm the opposite of that.Even more so If scaling the difficulty gives you more rewards*Looking at you Witcher 3,you handsome beast*.I don't judge ,nor consider, other player that does, less though. We're all here to have fun and some likes to be more laid back during their gaming experience than others.
There is no Problem with playing on easy mode. I mean I usually play JRPGs and there usually is no Option to choose difficulty and when I can I usually play on normal but if it would be too hard for me, I'd put it on easy. Games give you the Option to play on different difficulties so you can make it match your skills. You can also replay it on normal if you want.
Alex Townley the enemies dont hit u as often and your health regeneration is insanely fast. and of course u can take alot more rounds to the face. lol.
First of all, thank you so much for including an ONIMUSHA game on your list. Secondly, you must hate games that cuts your story mode short and tells you "if you want to see the full game, play it on a harder difficulty" I remember it was used a lot in SEGA Genesis game like streets of rage and golden axe. Some games like DOOM and Wolfenstein mock you for playing on easy mode. Do you know any game that does this to you??
Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire is the worst for that, you can play the whole game on easy but then it doesn't show you what happens to your character until you replay the whole damn game on a higher difficulty
I did it in the last of us remastered right at the end where Joel goes killing "everything" in the hospital on the way to saving Ellie! I had played the whole game on the highest difficulty and it took me 3 months to get to that point but after trying atleast 50 times in three weeks I just gave up! Turned it down easy and there i was on my way to redemption!
I used to do that at first, but with the time I started to allways play on normal mode, and when I'm good at a game and want a little more out of it (and sometimes also the trophy) I even go for the hardest difficulty.
Playstation access well I play most games on normal and once in awhile on hard. I know it can be frustrating at times but I prefer it that way(not the frustration so to speak) I still enjoy the game but I feel I have accomplished a challenging task. You make it look fun on easy but I've never played on easy it's because I prefer the normal mode. I consider myself a hardcore gamer. Love video games that are fun challenging and have great story lines when needed. To those who play on easy it doesn't bother me what mode you play on as long as you enjoy the game. Love your channel. Loyal subscriber. Thanks. Very funny video. Cheers
+Justice Strauss I don't think everyone considers themselves a hard core gamer. I never said I was a pro. I spend quite alot of time gaming. I guess everyone has their own opinion. Lol
I was in Rob’s situation once but with Horizon Zero Dawn. I kept getting destroyed by the final death bringer and it’s back up during the final mission. I ran out of health potions and medicinal herbs, had six minutes left, and didn’t have enough resources to craft ammo. So I put it on story difficulty, beat first time after that and was ashamed of what I did.
Eh I'm not really ashamed when I do use easy mode. Granted most often I play on Normal, but I will unashamedly use Easy on a few whose playstyle I just wasn't skilled at.
Original comment was posted before actually watching. Now that I have I'll weigh in to say Mass Effect is definitely a series I play on easy. I don't THINK I ever played Resident Evil 4 on easy, but I concede it's possible I may have and just forgot because it's been a while since I have. I don't recall the difficulty I've used on any of the Devil May Cry games (all of which I own, all but part 2 of which I've gotten around to playing, none of which I've completed) but can say that chances are very high I played them on easy. None of the others on the list I've played. Not on the list that I play on Easy: Fire Emblem Awakening and the Fire Emblem Fates trilogy. I'm not very good at all at the strategy and dealing with permadeath, so I play on Casual. In fact I'll take it a step further and admit that most of my runs on Fates were on Phoenix...
Does making fun of someone for playing on an easier difficulty help you feel better about yourself? Clearly you have low self esteem if you have to put someone else down in such a way.
Halloweenman33 can you just....how do i put this politely?....GTFO!(you're NOT a trophy hunter like me so pretty please don't spread your "nonsense" all over the place, thank you and have a nice day).
Halloweenman33 oh,and i'm playing "Fallout 3" on very easy difficulty because the game doesn't have any difficulty based trophies and the same thing goes for "Skyrim".
Hmm only game I considered reducing difficulty on recently was Alien Isolation, playing on the harder settings towards the end of the game was super frustrating.
I just play everything on easy mode no matter what.......unless it is actually too easy (like on my second or third play through). I don't usually tell the internets though cuz the internets are mean. I just tell my friends/family if they are curious (but they usually don't ask, and aren't mean about it).
I always do a game on easy at first. It's a good way to learn the mechanics without failing a lot. It's especially useful if you're not very good at games.
Im not ashamed to play on easy mode. I often choose it when I play new games just to experience the story. after playing the game once through I scale it up after I learned more about the game and gain experience.
I have done this for the past two decades and if I like the game I will put it on my play again list and play it over in a higher level two or three more times. Entertainment versus frustration.
Nathan is savage at the intro lol. Id be surprised if Nate does any game on easy mode. I dont care about difficulty levels much but i usually prefer to not have it on the easiest setting for at least a bit of challenge. But uncharted on easy definitely helps setpieces flow smoothly
i'm surprised Bound By Flame wasn't on here. That game was hard already with it's shite combat system, but when you pump up the difficulty it just becomes absolute hell.
The problem with putting Resident Evil 4 on easy difficulty is that you literally miss content. There are parts of the game that simply don't show on easy (or rather, they do show but from afar, you don't interact), like the hedge maze or the bridge tower. So, for instance, while in normal difficulty you have to move around a hedge maze collecting stuff and killing those damn mutant dogs (and killing is the only choice, since avoiding is just not possible and running away is a child's dream) in order to find the pieces to open a door, in easy difficulty the door is already opened, and the gate to the maze is closed. There are versions of the game that don't come with a difficulty setting, though, so this might be confusing to some.
Dreadjaws I never knew that RE4 had versions with difficulty settings lol. The game dynamically changes the difficulty based on how you perform so I just assumed that there would be no need for a difficulty setting.
No, like I said before, it depends on the version. The original game had all difficulty settings except for the hard one unlocked at the start. In fact, I've never seen such a version as the one you mention. The only unlockable difficulty on the newest versions is the Professional one, which is the hardest mode. All other difficulties are either unlocked or unexistent.
I understand with games like Spec Ops. I do love difficulty in games because it gives you a huge sense of accomplishment when beating it. But even when the difficulty is on the highest setting, it's not always that fun, especially when you get shot down to like 1 hp in one shot. So I turned it down a notch too in Spec Ops :P
Yeah, the big room in Mass Effect 3 where you're trying to rescue Jack and her squad from Grissom Academy(I'm guessing you all know what I'm talking about) where you meet 200 people and cover that will be ambushed within 15 seconds no matter what you do? Yeah, I put that on narrative after about 20 times. I did my first run on hardcore and ran everything else without changing it, I eventually mastered soloing a pair of banshees on 4-player platinum with an army spawning around you, but that one bit I don't even pretend by just putting it on normal or anything, I did and still do drop right down to narrative and spray everything down in seconds because I have told that room to bite me so many times that I will no longer give it the satisfaction of doing so.
omg, Onimusha--yes! great series, I've played all four main games. Still hoping Capcom revives the series (and not as a mobile card game). Nioh is great, but I want Onimusha again!
After a couple of playthroughs I found out that it doesn't matter what difficulty I play the first Mass Effect. The enemies don't become more challenging/capable, they just have a barrier in front of them or a longer life bar - the battles might drag on for a bit longer then but they aren't any harder.
We buy games to enjoy them. How we enjoy them is up to us. There's no shame in playing on easy.
Actually, I'll go a step further. People who tell those asking for advice on handling a difficult part of a game to "get good" are morons.

It's "Git Gud".... And if you need help in a video game that others can play easily... wouldn't that make you the moron? Just a thought lol
NUUU!! my enjoyment is based on weather or not complete strangers play the same way i do!! don't use console commands on your game! it ruins my experience!!
+xShr00msx Are you saying you've never once in your life gotten stuck in a game where others did not?
I think there's nothing wrong with putting a game on easy particularly if you're playing for the story/plot.
I do it all the time in the resident evil series
Same
Same here

My first encounter with a Rockbreaker was accidental. I was on my way to a quest and dropped down on top of it.
WrestleCrazyGamer+ Yeah you have to pay attention to the icons on the map so those won't surprise you lol.
I always feel really guilty though for playing anything below medium, I guess it's because that's what I used to do for every game
7 times we used the internet to pass a level
every tomb raider game for me
Every time. Barring the Fable and Pokemon games, literally every time.
Lmix211 Only three Riddler trophies over two games.
I did it alot but Skyrim breaks the record.
I did it with Devil May Cry 4.
7 times games taught us real life skills
Jayden Hussey dooo iiitttt noooowwwww
nice suggestion! would like to see this happening.
Jayden Hussey
Like those kids that think they're weaponexperts because they played call of duty...
Jayden Hussey games taught us how to be stealthy and avoid others field of vision.
I am happy and feel no shame.. not even a bit. hahaha.
Me as well.
We're from the big league's baby
I'm right there with ya
I should probably do this because I dont have too much time to play games anymore...
I do kind of the same, but different. Always the second hardest mode, or hardest, if that one would be normal, and then after playing it through I go to the hardest. Don’t judge me, it’s just that I kind of need the thrill in games and I get bored to quickly if it is too easy. That’s just for me personally.
I’m here for the adventure. If I like it, then I’ll return for the challenge.
Can we turn the diffuculty down on life?
London Adams that would be sick
My difficulty must be up to hell and hell mode, I wish there was a way dood XD
The Sims
Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.
actually yes, its called substance abuse and alcoholism, thats how real life people play on easy mode
I always start a game on highest difficulty. Not because I'm brave, just because I'm stupid.
Lol same... And then I scale it back down to easy because I just suck at video games in general
GhostKin Stick to normal then. Never go full easy mode.
I wouldn't consider that stupid. I actually think it gives you the opportunity to decide which difficulty are you most comfortable with. Because honestly, going down the difficulty is easier than going up xD
I usually start with normal, so respect to you :)
I started horizon zero dawn on easy Just to beat it and try ultra hard mode
I started Skyrim on Expert mode, and kept it on up to the Alduin fight. :P
I let my son play MGSV P.P. And when i came back 10 minutes later he was wearing a damn chicken hat... needless to say I put him up for adoption.
You did the right thing.
dude I feel your pain I've been pushing through the game and no matter how many times I've had to retry a mission I've NEVER put on the chicken hat and that's coming from a guy who plays every game on easy mode until I feel confident enough in my abilities to play on normal
I've still never beaten Skyrim on anything higher than novice
but DMC Reboot I've beaten that game on every difficulty setting from human all the way to Hell and Hell mode all seven difficulty settings
Seriously?
HeyPayAttn I think you may of went too far
HeyPayAttn don't lie, you need a wife/man to reproduce :P
Games are suppose to be fun. That's all that really matters. Put it on Easy or Hard. Who really cares? It's just a game.
rinraiden Scrub detected
rinraiden Just a game... JUST A GAME? JUST A GAME!!!!???
rinraiden I play on easy! You're right, games are meant to be fun! My bf who's a seasoned gamer encourages me to, and use guides!
easy not gonna get you those trophies
18ac81 this is true, I'm new to open world games though. I don't constantly use them but are nice to have available:)
1:32 "There are many reasons you'd put a game on easy mode"
1 of them is if you succ badly. Happened to all of us, no one is born with master dodging and combo memorizing skills. :D
its true
For whatever reason, it ruins their experience of the game, lol.
my friends brother was in an accident in highschool, his hands don't work too well now, they stay in sort of a curled open fist and his wrists bent
I was amazed to see how he taught himself to play with the control upside down with buttons facing the floor
his thumbs lack the dexterity so he uses his middle and index fingers to work most of the controls
hope your surgeries have gone well and you continue to game as long as you wish
markotark hope you get well soon!
I play a game called "Life" and I have
(+) amazing graphics
(+) very flexible soundtrack
(+) a great character with good skills and stats
(-) Character is poorly designed
(-) Not much costumes and headgear
(-) There is no Save Point
(-) Stamina that seems to increase overtime but will decrease over time
(-) 1 Life
(-) No infinite money
(-) No infinite resources
(-) Very limited character inventory space
(-) Party Members are mostly jerks
(-) Loading when going places takes forever
(-) too many mini games with little to no reward
(-) Stores don't accept selling stuff
(-) The main quest is as hard as hell
(-) You need to have a certain amount of money each episode to continue playing
(-) There are no healing potions or mana potions
(-) There are no visual icons if you are inflicted with a de-buff
(-) De-buff medicine does not work immediately
Clifford Merielle
You forgot a few things.
The character customization is pretty cool. Also the servers are huge.
Clifford Merielle and yeAh no ping which is awesome
You think it's THAT hard? Try beating it on + mode.
(-) You're character is randomly generated for looks.
What about Bioshock: Infinite? The final battle where you have to simultaneously stay alive and defend the engine of the ship is one of the biggest difficulty spikes I've seen in video games.
Lol, after 5 tries I did it. Mainly because I didn't know I have to shoot the zeppelin.
Legit why I looked this up
If you specced into guns only, then yeas it's a nightmare. Meanwhile I had a ghost gun with infinite ammo and was constantly possessing enemies to do my bidding, mwah ha ha
I finished it on 1999 mode. It wasn't too hard. Definitely not the hardest of the hard modes I've played. Did take me quite a few tries though
I put a lot of bullet magnets on the engine and i beated the level on my first try at 1999 mode.
I play Skyrim on easy all the time. I could handle playing it on a harder difficulty but it's one of those games where I just don't want to try and I'd rather just relax and enjoy it.
Skyrim is bullshit when it comes to difficulty anyways. You never know just how strong enemies are until they one-shot you.
Kingofcheese184 it's because the difficulty doesn't do anything but raise enemy damage and health while reducing your damage.
NecromanciPottamus Otherwise known as "Fake Difficulty". It's a setting where it does nothing but raise the damage done to you and raises the enemies' health to ridiculous amounts. It's incredibly lazy for the developers and really annoying for the player.
So much this. Skyrim is a wish fulfillment simulator to me.
Skyrim is a cool down game.
7 checkpoints that took forever to get to
Steven Ortiz Every checkpoint on bloodborne :v
Steven Ortiz
uncharted drake collection on brutal difficulty.
For Honor on realistic :)
ishimaru masato
I have done all 4 uncharted on brutal.
Tommy Mattsson same here.
I 100% UC 1,2 n 3.
uncharted 4 doesnt have brutal. just crushing.
basically all rpgs
because i play for story
But most rpgs are more about gameplay than story.
Git gud
Well, true
Jerome is me I suck. I admit that I suck atleast
At least, I know I am not alone bud!
good for you. got a nice flow to unwind.
Benjamin R. Vogel Um,how many platinum trophies do you have,if you have any?(quick question)
Same, the only time I even attempt harder modes or platinum trophies is if I really like the game and even then only if it's possible, I play games for fun, not stress, it's normal or bust other than that dood :3
uncharted 4 on the 2nd run... me and my father are bonding over it he watches me play and he gets excited over the story..
neocerebus i've have completed uncharted 1,2 and 3 on Crushing difficulty and got platinum trophy for each game and i must say,it at times is a bit frustrating but it's a pretty fun and challenging way to play the "Uncharted" games.
I completed both uncharted 2 and 3 on crushing, but as odd as it might sound, i just cant complete the first one on crushing. i think they tuned down the crushing mode a little bit after the first game
Sempre nah, crushing in uncharted 1 was quite easy for me because i have already played it on easy and hard mode, platinumed the game in under 4 days.
I always play on easy mode but that's cus I like to chill when I play games
I'M A FILTHY CASUAL WHO PLAYS GAMES ON EASY BECAUSE IF I STRESS OUT I'LL END UP WITH A MIGRAINE THAT WOULD PUT BACK IN THE ER!!! I DON'T WANT TO GOT BACK TO THE ER IT SMELLS FUNNY!!
A'ight
I play every game on easy mode....I play to enjoy not get stressed out.
Adam Howes Scrub
Adam Howes 👏🖐
Boooooooo
Adam Howes if u just git gud, u'll never be stressed out again in your entire life. jajajajaja
there is a real fine line between stress and fun. some people like getting pushed to their limit
i play my games on easy and normal
crowd:gasp!!!!!!!!!!!
do i look like a man who likes his games hard?no im not
i play games on easy mode not because i suck but because i care more about the story not the combat
Exactly.
ARES ViiPeRz I sometimes do that too.
Then go and watch a movie
Chicken Permission that's the point, but interactive. also, I'm paying for the privilege, so what do you care?
Chicken Permission a movie cant be 8 or more hours now can it and movies these days are very bad
Never stop making these.
Explorer difficulty is basically "I want a playable movie" mode.
Bestgameplayer10 yea lol
Yeah, and sometimes that's just what one really does need - or at least feels like.
Bestgameplayer10 crushing wasn't that difficult once you've completed the game on normal mode
Charlie Milroy I finished it on hard then on crushing
Charlie Milroy It is that difficult i died like 50 times in the whole playthrough
What? No MGS reference tally? For shame, PSA, for shame.
I think a few episodes ago, he said during his Friday Feature video (I assumed jokingly at the time) that they only recorded so many tallies.
Guess they need to record some more.
Yo, fellow brazilian mate
"(Don't Judge Us)" .. you guys rock! lol. Watch your content daily, keep it up.
Amen now to make a "7 reasons to make an Onimusha HD Collection"
im5tylinOnu2489 and Ninja Gaiden please
Nioh being great is one reason.
im5tylinOnu2489 Never gonna happen unless they replace the Japanese actor and Jean Reno from the 3rd one.
oughta be easy, there's at least 1000 reasons to do so
I just want Onimusha Dawn Of Dreams HD.
Rob is love, Rob is life.
I only ever play games on their normal or otherwise middle of the difficulty tree. Like having a challenge but also want to beat the damn game in a timely fashion.
I think at one point all of our lives have been in easy mode. Games or otherwise. Also you should pin this for no reason Rob.
OptiPri Gaming BLAPHEMOUS NUB
Dustybivs So you've never have in your life done anything easily?
No *Ninja Gaiden*? The game that makes you wear a pink ribbon for turning the difficulty down? Ok...
+William Orlando Figueroa This was about games where you *chose the lower difficulty*, not games that forced you to play on a higher difficulty to complete.
Xander Crease right? hahaha
once i found out about the ribbon i restarted my game and intentionally died until it was offered to me, lol
So yes, despite the fact the I often just sit and play for hours on end, I am indeed a "casual" gamer, and I say that without any shame whatsoever.
slambangaction git gud.
slambangaction WIMP
Sean Wattsmoore Like I said: no shame.
TricksterZero Agreed!
low_self_esteem_detected,_weaboo
I've put uncharted series on easy after beating them on crushing just so I could go back and collect all the treasure. I mean who wants to deal with a million brutes when your looking for trinkets in the jungle?
I used to have a tradition with an old friend. With each new halo game we'd do 2 player co-op on legendary on launch day. It was our new halo happy dance.
I play my games how I want and I don't gaf what anyone thinks. I'm in it for the story.
Miss Kilo hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahshshahhahaahahhahahaha casual filth hahaahahahahahahahshshshshshahaaahahahahaha i bet you play dota on ez mode. WITH BOTS HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA....WEAKLING.
I am actually really sad and empty inside :'(
Andrew1990R Never played Dota so 😜
then watch a movie...
but movies aren't games they are a lot less fun
Miss Kilo true...but sometimes its fun to have a challenge
That pinned-down bit you had with Dave on Spec Ops: The Line was comedy gold.
I love Friday Features.
Am I the only. One who don't care what difficulty I play at?
Petter Lindgren yup
Petter Lindgren nope
Meaning you always play on easy mode?
I'm pretty sure you'd care if someone turned the difficulty up to the max.
xenteko Why would he care what difficulty level someone else plays at? Unless you somehow mean someone turning his games difficulty up.. in which case, what would stop him from turning it back down? In your mind was the difficulty level stuck on what ever level this "someone" put it on?
He said he doesn't care what difficulty he plays a game on. Which sounds like bullshit.
If he genuinely didn't care, he'd be just as content playing on Very Hard as on Very Easy.
What he most likely means is that he doesn't care that he need to turn a game down to easy. Which isn't the same thing as not caring which difficulty he's playing on.
Witcher 3. I wasnt playing to play the game, I just wanted to see the lore and story of the world :). I have actually no shame about this.
xeamnz witcher 3 was easy on medium tho
xeamnz NOOOOOB lmfao
xeamnz I played The Witcher 2 on easy mode my first time (realise you're talking about 3, but still...), then played it on hard. I found hard mode easier to beat though, strangely enough. Even though a full year passed between each playthrough.
xeamnz can't do that. It's a turn based, strategic combative game. You're cutting out one of the biggest parts of the game, learning how each monster fights and becoming a professional as the game goes on
xeamnz omg same! I remember turning a game down to easy but I couldn't figure out what it was and now I know
DeltaBlaze8201 Gaming 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🖐
DeltaBlaze8201 Gaming hah casual...
Boooooooo
Good to see that isn't the case! xD
At the final boss in "Wolfenstein:The New Order" I died so many times that I switched from "Bring'em on" to "Don't hurt me" and finally to "Can I play daddy?".Now I admitted it,mock me all you want.
gaming4life I did that too lol
He was not fun
7:35 is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Absolutely hilarious!
Will Riley dark souls doesnt give u an option lol
ZeldaTheSiren how can u beat pontiff and the dancer first try
Sasuke Uchiha the dancer is easy, aside from my unarmed run I've not died to her. The only boss in DS3 that gave me trouble was the Nameless King
which is exactly what game developers intended when they created their game especially for new games or gamers new to certain genres and gameplay mechanics, why do people think its expected to be instantly awesome at every game they play first time? its ridiculous
They need to remaster Onimusha, those games were my childhood!
Soon, so soon.
Now they have
I played Arkham Asylum on easy the first time. I wasn't allowed to play video-games much as a kid, so Arkham Asylum was one of the first "real" games I played.
As a child and teenager, I would have never done the easy mode. Now, as an adult with a 40h /week work and not that much time to play games anymore, I put my games often on easy just to progress in the story faster.
rob=Friday man
Friday= Robday
Abdel Emperor friday will now be called Robday!!!!!
Veroid Gaming YEAH!
abdel emperor you know tekking 101!!!!!he's awesome
"EH?? EASY MODO??" "HOW LAME" "ONLY KIDS PLAY IN EASY MODE!"
I feel these quotes from an old meme are relevant once again.
Surprised no one commented that yet.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I was looking for this
spongebobfan78 what about Brutal difficulty from "Uncharted:The Nathan Drake Collection?"(extremely difficult, more difficult than Crushing Difficulty,it is like Realistic Difficulty from COD:Black Ops 3).
spongebobfan78 Quasi Modo > Easy Modo
Brick fan66 It's a meme from the Touhou Project series. The games are so ridiculously difficult, but the fans shun you if you play on the lowest difficulty, thus sparking the meme Easy Modo.
I had to put 2018s God of War on easy mode for the fight with the queen of the Valkyries. It was the last thing I need for the platinum trophy.
I'll never understand why people have a problem with easy mode.
Mata Nui its not so much a problem as it is a joke,
i think everybody knows games(single players) are supposed to be personal experiences, so play it however you feel like. but again everybody gets tempted to brag about defeating a game in hardest difficulty possible or making jokes about easy mode.
Boooooooooo
Playing on easy supposedly makes other people see you as inferior to everyone else.
Shame.
I tend to play every game on the hardest mode to start with then go back on easy to mop up the trophies I missed.
Andrew Doherty Good luck in Dark Souls III. Even though, it doesn't have difficulty, it still is insanely difficult.
Interesting idea, Andrew. :)
lol... Dark souls 3 was the easiest out of the soulsborne series.
Tim Ingram But to a newcomer I'm sure it'd be pretty hard. DkS3 was easy because we already know how to play.
I never found Dark souls hard. Apart from when playing drunk.
I played Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix on easy so that I could get the tropies for not changing gear and 15 hour speed run in one go.
I did it too XD, it felt like i was unstopable after Proud Lv.1
Personally I think it's ok if it's for trophies or other specific reasons
I almost did this with Metal Gear Rising Revengance with the final boss. No health packs at all... I died so, so many times trying to beat him. Until finally I got lucky enough to get through that boss fight. That was so difficult
jamzacez nanomachines son
Standing here, I realize you were just like me
My memes will live on
jamzacez On Rising Revengence, I just couldn't help but get jumpy at the Rock cutting segments that insta kill.
Holly is looking incredible these days! (Not that she ever wasn't...)
Drink some Gatorade, I hear it's thirst quenching.
She is incredibly cute.
Iain Cope she is hot can't deny it plus the hair colour to boot
Me I'm the opposite of that.Even more so If scaling the difficulty gives you more rewards*Looking at you Witcher 3,you handsome beast*.I don't judge ,nor consider, other player that does, less though. We're all here to have fun and some likes to be more laid back during their gaming experience than others.
nobodyinterestingyou This
There is no Problem with playing on easy mode. I mean I usually play JRPGs and there usually is no Option to choose difficulty and when I can I usually play on normal but if it would be too hard for me, I'd put it on easy. Games give you the Option to play on different difficulties so you can make it match your skills. You can also replay it on normal if you want.
Seriously not I big deal, hell I wish I could turn life into easy mode.
IKR............. :(
I never play on easy...but if life had easy mode it would be permanently on. for life. then I could play more video games :D
Someone who gets it.
I only played uncharted 4 on explorer because of the speed run trophy. And I'm happy i did because now I have the plantinum trophie.
I also did the last of us on
survivor+
How ridiculously easy is it on explorer? lol
Alex Townley the enemies dont hit u as often and your health regeneration is insanely fast.
and of course u can take alot more rounds to the face.
lol.
hey u guys have the best videogame based RUclips videos I swear. haha u guys actually put effort into your writing and editing! Big Fan!
Real life is difficult ,games should be easy
Boooooooo
exactly
Ceasar AI AMEN
I play a lot of games on easy at first, like to get the story, then I will run it up 2nd time thru.
Ceasar AI wooow Sherlock just wow
First of all, thank you so much for including an ONIMUSHA game on your list.
Secondly, you must hate games that cuts your story mode short and tells you "if you want to see the full game, play it on a harder difficulty" I remember it was used a lot in SEGA Genesis game like streets of rage and golden axe. Some games like DOOM and Wolfenstein mock you for playing on easy mode. Do you know any game that does this to you??
Sir Mister giy gud
Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire is the worst for that, you can play the whole game on easy but then it doesn't show you what happens to your character until you replay the whole damn game on a higher difficulty
I did it in the last of us remastered right at the end where Joel goes killing "everything" in the hospital on the way to saving Ellie! I had played the whole game on the highest difficulty and it took me 3 months to get to that point but after trying atleast 50 times in three weeks I just gave up!
Turned it down easy and there i was on my way to redemption!
I almost always play on easy mode first time round so I can take in the story then I try hard mode and give up
And spec ops that was a game I put on normal and toned it down to easy at that moment
Cheers
feel and do the same way, but not sure if I would consider my self a hardcore gamer. ^^;
toongrowner1 Hard core gamer to me is a person who plays alot. I prefer all kinds of games.
Resident evil 4 really isn't that's hard on normal. I'm pretty sure it isn't much easier on easy.
+Justice Strauss I don't think everyone considers themselves a hard core gamer. I never said I was a pro. I spend quite alot of time gaming. I guess everyone has their own opinion. Lol
***** No problem. I was just replying. Not upset or mad at your comment. But I understand where you're coming from. Cheers
BloodyButterfly-Im not sure if there is an easy mode in Resident Evil 4.
Haaaaaaa! Easy? that's like telling me your weakness before I even come to battle you!
+Brick fan66 GG, only trophy hunters truly appreciate a game. Doing things that the average gamer would overlook just for a trophy
Waypast Gone true
" I felt dirty, but not as dirty as relieved..."
Hmm only game I considered reducing difficulty on recently was Alien Isolation, playing on the harder settings towards the end of the game was super frustrating.
BigHeadClan Yessss
I just play everything on easy mode no matter what.......unless it is actually too easy (like on my second or third play through). I don't usually tell the internets though cuz the internets are mean. I just tell my friends/family if they are curious (but they usually don't ask, and aren't mean about it).
Bella_Iris, I thought I was the only one who do that. I always plays on easy and if I really like the game, then I play on normal or hard.
Booooooooo
Corey Mckee oh, look! A really good idea!
I have done this for the past two decades and if I like the game I will put it on my play again list and play it over in a higher level two or three more times. Entertainment versus frustration.
Agreed sir! :) Usually ill start on Normal and go up from there but same concept!
last of us sniper section he just kept pining me down
Nathan is savage at the intro lol. Id be surprised if Nate does any game on easy mode. I dont care about difficulty levels much but i usually prefer to not have it on the easiest setting for at least a bit of challenge. But uncharted on easy definitely helps setpieces flow smoothly
Am I the only one who misses Delsin in the Friday Features?
i'm surprised Bound By Flame wasn't on here. That game was hard already with it's shite combat system, but when you pump up the difficulty it just becomes absolute hell.
Spec Ops 2 is a criminally underrated game. One of the best games i have ever played.
I play easy mode whenever possible, already get frustrated enough in life with 2 kids and a gf who never listen.
F
had to put easy mode on when I played Catherine. the puzzles are just way too hard!
I'm trying to remember which game it was I set on easy at some point, I think it was Catherine as well, this game was just brutal.
Iv never fallen so low, have been challenged but never backed down. Like A BOSS
Dreadjaws RE4 on PS2 (the one I played for the longest time) only had Normal and Professional. But I think the PS3&4 version has Easy.
Actually, the PAL version of the PS2 game had an Easy setting.
Dreadjaws I don't even recall it having an easy difficulty.
I admit I turned down the difficulty in The Witcher 3 during the battle with The Djinn in the last wish and the final level in The Last Of Us
Wasif Ali the djinn wasnt bad at all
Wasif Ali what about the frog? did you faced him?
I understand with games like Spec Ops. I do love difficulty in games because it gives you a huge sense of accomplishment when beating it. But even when the difficulty is on the highest setting, it's not always that fun, especially when you get shot down to like 1 hp in one shot. So I turned it down a notch too in Spec Ops :P
unfair. using an Onimusha 3 clip, and i've been playing Nioh. the nostalgia...
Malice Flare nioh well good
For me I spend 90% of my game time in easy mode
HOLLIE!!!!! We all love you! why are you not in more videos??
After a couple of playthroughs I found out that it doesn't matter what difficulty I play the first Mass Effect. The enemies don't become more challenging/capable, they just have a barrier in front of them or a longer life bar - the battles might drag on for a bit longer then but they aren't any harder.
I do my first run on easy(est) for many games
Try finish uncharted 4 on crushing without HUD and without ANY gameplay modifiers
kitso mangolele I did it! Didn't realise I had all the buffs when I went for platinum. 🤗😎
+Jay Wilk
Did you use modifiers and buy weapons and stuff? Because that stuff makes it sooo much easier.
