I LOVE the look on Shawn’s face. He actually looked/looks embarrassed! And Mel was VERY HAPPY with what was going on!!! That song was Huge when it came out.
He looked embarrassed cause he thought the ladies looked like his mom and aunts and there were some mental images of them he didn't want to see. He kinda looked traumatized.🤣
40 Years ago it was released, and it's still HOT!
Yes Yes he looks 😍 a little uncomfortable with this but she loves 💘 the video 📹 💖 ❤ 💗
I am smiling so hard! When this song came on in the club every woman got up and danced together and sang so loud ☔️😊
Allelulia! Can't tell you how many times my friends and i jammed to this! 💞
In the gay clubs this song was huge!
This song was huge in the dance clubs internationally in the early eighties, and won a grammy for dance tunes. . . One hit wonder, but fun stuff.
Hey there, they actually didn’t win the Grammy, and the category that they were nominated for wasn’t “Best Dance Tunes”, there’s actually no such Grammy Category by that name. 😁
They were nominated for Best RnB Vocal Performance by a DUO or Group. They lost out to a Rufus (feat. Chaka Khan) song called “Ain’t Nobody”, at the 1984 televised Grammy Awards, honoring the 1983 year. I’m sorta an “Awards Buff”. 😁
Then one of them got robbed by CC Music Factory - they stole her track for their monster hit, “ I Got the Power” . They had a skinny model lip syncing her voice in the video. So she actually was NOT a one hit wonder. Watch 20 Feet From Stardom documentary about the greatest backup singers.
@@TheDivayenta yup!! Martha Wash, that woman truly deserves her flowers
@@TheDivayenta the C&C Music Factory song was “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).” She was also replaced in the same way by another dance group called Black Box.
Martha Wash was mistreated by the music industry way too much. We honestly don’t deserve her smh
If you're comfortable, Fly. If not, Fly. All is love.
This track is a cult classic in the gay community (for all the obvious reasons). The Weather Girls (Originally billed as Two Tons o' Fun), were the backup singers for Disco legend Sylvester (a gay icon himself). Martha Wash ("we're your Weather Girls") went on to have a successful solo career.
And if you have or can find the record with Two Tons Of Fun listed as artist it’s got some 🤑🤑🤑
Total classic. Everybody was up and dancing to this back in the 80s when I was in college in San Francisco. Gay, lesbian, straight, if you you weren't up on your feet, get out of the club! RIP Sylvester.
But she did get robbed by CC Music Factory in Everybidy Dance Now! from Gonna Make You Sweat. . They had a model lip syncing her gorgeous voice!
@@TheDivayenta Snap did "I got the power" and C&C Music Factory screwed her over on the song "Gonna Make You Sweat".
Why "obv"? There's two amazing big gals, thrn we have big muscly dudes in raincoats with nothing underneath.. why would they be .. erm.. OK, gimme a sec til I check this song up again
I've watched so many reactions to this song and the guys always look embarrassed and the women are all happy and dancing along lmao! 🤣🤣
This song was a lot of fun in itself. But it was also one of the first ones to switch out the traditional roles in music and admit publicly that a good woman like to look at men too.
Before there was a lot of men, surrounded by and singing about some female eye candy. - So why not?
We ladies love our thirst and eye candy to.
Big big disco hit way back when...as soon as this track played the floor was jammed with fine ladies yeah great times .....love comin atcha guys x
In the nineties Martha Wash provided the vocals for C+C Music Factory (Gonna Make You Sweat) and Black Box(Strike It Up and Everybody, Everybody). She wasn't credited for the vocals.
She sued n got paid.
@@reneec121 as she deserved
They caught hell for using someone else in the video. Beyoncé didn't learn that lesson. Just watch "Say My Name." She got daddy to fire the two other women in the recording and used the replacements in the video.
I remember VH1 did a Behind the Music on all the lip singing controversies from this era- they had Whitney Houston talking about this song and seeing video with the skinny woman singing the Martha part and she went, "THAT AIN"T NO MARTHA WASH!"
You'll never look at your Aunties the same way! When this song used to come on in the club, all the women would throw up their hands and come out to the dance floor! Great review Shawn and Mel. You're the best!
They were originally called Two Tons of Fun & backed disco star Sylvester.
True. You should react to (you make me feel) mighty real by Sylvester.
"Cmon Dude, isn't it nice in this day to see that there were actually women who celebrated men? Love 'em
it would be nice if the men were worth it.
@@mta4562 women aint sh1t today either. I've known more loyal men than women.
" God bless Mother Nature, she's a single woman too. She took on the heavens and she did what she had to do. She caught every angel and rearranged the sky, so that each and every woman could find the perfect guy. It's raining men. Leave the umbrella s at home. Amen" 😀🥰☺️.
Classic.
As long as there are humans this will be a hit song.
😅♥️♥️♥️ I was an aerobics instructor in the 80's and early 90's...this crazy fun song was a hit in all the clubs...health clubs and dance clubs 🥰
This is such a fun song. I've always loved the lead singers voice.... and of course those hot male dancers who are about 60 years old now.
We had so much fun dancing and screaming all the words to this song lol, come on ladies!!!
The weather girls, aka two tons of fun, were know as two of the best vocalists in the music industry and laid down back ground vocal fo many artists back in the day.
Song written by Paul Schaffer the former musical director for David Letterman. At the time, this song was such a huge hit in dance clubs. It's a fun song and women everywhere loved it at the time it came out.
Interesting. I didn't know Paul wrote this!
This was the opening song to the skit "Men on Film" on the TV show, "In Living Color." It was a scream!
Two snaps up!
That's Martha Wash ! pure masterpiece everytime she blesses us with her voice. Don't stop now let's hear her in Black Box "I Don't Know Anybody Else"
This is hilarious .. 😂🤣😁 ... but they sound awesome.
I was a teenager in the '80's, and loved this song. We had so much fun music back then.
These women took the UK by storm. It was played all the time and We loved these looking like they were So enjoying themselves.
It will Never sound dated.Thank you Girls xxx

Love your reaction!!!! This song used to be played at weddings, parties and clubs and all of us women would be out there on the dance floor!!!
Their voices are so catchy!!
Oh YES!!!! This was the all time favorite at the gay clubs in DC! All the guys would REALLY rock it out!
This song was huge in the clubs. Especially in the gay clubs.
Big fun!
“AUNTY DONE FELL OUT THE WINDOW” 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Y'all's facial expressions at 5:41 !!! 😂 Givin' me *LIFE!!!*
Isn't this such a fun song, tho?
Great reaction guys!
Mel was locked in to this video! Her eyes didn't stray from the screen very much!
Sounds like a gospel choir had a bit too much fun one night and made this song🤣 i love it!
Forever love this song!! This was THE BEST REACTION I have seen of this song. Aunties 🤣👏 totally related lol. Fabulous
Love this song, so fun your face were golden 😆❤
They use to be called "2 Tons of Fun" and they also use to sing backup for "Sylvester"
one weather girl (martha wash) went on to become the voice of groups like blackbox & c+c music factory ("gonna make you sweat", "everybody everybody") ...great voice
As soon as I saw the title I knew I had to see your reaction..I LOVE THIS SONG !!!
I've always loved this song; can't believe I never saw the video before! I love it!
This was such a fun song when it came on in the clubs!!!! If you are having a bad day and this song comes on you forget about your blues..🙂
When Chip And Dales would come to our town all us girls at work would all go and when this song would come on we would end up broke , never had so much fun in my life , Good memories ♥️
Martha Wash also sang with C+C Music Factory: Everybody Dance Now and Gonna Make You Sweat.
She has an unmistakable voice and we love it every time we hear it. 💕
We were all outraged that they used a skinny model to lip sing her parts in the C+C music video. We knew better. She’s perfect ‘as is’.
Those gals, had real 'girl power'!
Fun Fact:
This song was often played at the nightclubs that featured "Ladies Night," complete with...Male Exotic Dancers! (strippers!) 😍
This was the song in the clubs you danced too!!! Love this song, still makes you move!!!
Martha Wash hands down has the best voice out of all female singers.
Love the 80's, another one we used to dance to!.. thx for reacting 🎤🎶💜
LOVE your reaction!!!! After all these years I still get up and dance to it even in my room
Unimportant trivia: On the Simpsons, This is Homer Simpson's favorite song on the jukebox at Moe's Tavern.
🙌👏 this song has been putting a smile on my face for almost 40 yrs! My brothers would cry to mom bc I sang at top of my lungs & I was bad but couldn't help not sing so when I was old enuf for 💃clubs, i could sing it & no1 could hear, it was anthem & still my feel good song 🫶
I love this song
Martha Wash ICON!!!! Great song but On Gonna Make You Sweat and Strike it up she was QUEEN! Kelly Clarkson sang this song on the first season of american idol as well!
Every time I hear this song, I can't help thinking about Rodney Dangerfield modeling "The Regular Guy Look" in the movie Easy Money...it's hilarious.
POPULAR THEORY:
The song "It's Rainin' Men" and the song "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" are two songs sung about the same event, but viewed from different perspectives. :D
this is one of those songs that got everyone on the dance floor. great video, loved your reaction to the bedroom scene.
Too Much FUN!!!!!
So much dang fun!
Big hit in clubs. Written by Paul Shaffer the band director for the David Letterman Late Show.
This song was for us Gays.... Yassss
A good follow up would be "The Want Ads" by The Honey Cone
One of the BEST dance songs in clubs EVER, especially on Ladies Night!!
You had to live through this..it was absolutely amazing when this song played!!!!!
Remember hitting the dance floor when this song was played! Lol
I think this is the most fun I've ever had watching someone react to a video...🤣😂🤣😂👍👍👍
CLASSIC !!! Love this song. You have to dance!
A huge hit in the UK back in the day. A massive floor filler. Everybody was up dancing & singing to this tune.
Martha Wash has one of the greatest voices you will ever hear. This song is a classic from the disco era , and a classic in the gay community!
We aunties love men!!!!
So glad you enjoyed it because it is still one of my favorites
Took them to breakfast after their show when my friend was head of security at the club they performed in they had this song but were known as two tons of fun! They were absolutely charming!☮️❤️
Young people are such prudes!
I love this song. It would get my weekend going when I was single. Helloooo fellas!!!!!!
These ladies are fantastic.
There is a lot of good music out there, and these ladies rocked it.
The Pointer Sisters did an excellent job with this song.
From the bottom of my heart, thanks for reacting to this! You guys have always been so inclusive and kind. This was pretty much the dance anthem in the gay bars when it came out! For that matter, anyone who loved a good time, and wanted to dance, loved this song!
Omg you're reaction is classic, I love you two.
Great fun song, let the women have their fun
I just love you too..♥️♥️♥️🤗🤗🤗🤗 i enjoyed watching you two♥️♥️😍😍😍 Mel is cute 🤗
That dude in the sailor hat in the tan shorts dropping in an umbrella, he cracked me up!
Love this song it is iconic.
Big girls doing thier thing !!!
Me & my friends would Always dance to this. I will survive was #1 and this was 2nd. Memories 😀
Love this song! Thank you
Thanks for that one! Women would cue that song up on their tape decks on their way to the dance clubs, hoping that by 10:30 it would start raining MEN! Loved your reaction!!
This video is hilarious and wonderful--soooo much fun!
Wow, this song makes me laugh now but back in the day it was my favorite song to dance to.
At one point they were called Two Tons O' Fun and was back up singers for disco king Sylvester. Please listen to You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) by Sylvester. And these ladies were fairly young in this video; it came out in 1982. Those ladies can sang! Sadly, one of them passed away in 2004. Ya'll funny calling them "aunties"! LOL!!
Before naming themselves "The Weather Girls", Martha Wash and Izora Armstead began as back-up singers for Sylvester. Check out his song "Dance (Disco Heat)" and you'll hear the 2 of them out singing him on the recording, which according to lore, was exactly the sound Sylvester was going for. Eventually, they struck out on their own as Two Tuns of Fun.
Ah the 80s. Good stuff! I do love this song.
A great fun song ❤❤
A hit in every Gay Club across America! Paul Schaffer from David Letterman wrote the song. Trust me, you heard it everywhere! 😁❤️
What is so funny is watching your reaction to this song. You are both amazing couple and always open minded. But your energy and entertainment with this song is so good. I always watch your reactions you both need a Netflix reaction show. Thank you for being amazing people.
These gals could SANG! Beautiful Martha Wash got ROBBED by a record producer for CC Music Factory for the hit Everybody Dance Now. She sang the vocals but then they had a model lip syncing in the video. It was truly criminal. She didn’t get the credit.
I was having my house kitchen and floor done and all the guys came in , plumping, electrical, carpenters, I swear it was raining men!! Oh yes,, raining men!
Great memories! Whenever they played this song every gay man and straight woman got out on the dance floor and went crazy!
Can't help but think of "Men on Film."
The aunties 🤣🤣🤣
Hehehe. Your reactions are adorable. But man, I love The Weather Girls.
Lisa Fischer "How Can I Ease The Pain", and Martha Wash "Everybody Everybody" were the two most underrated singers of that era. Lisa IMO was the MOST underrated with that incredible showmanship and unbelievable range. Martha has lost a bit off her high end, but Lisa can still hit that really high F6. Incredible woman. As for The Weather Girls (Two Tons' Of Fun), their other great cut was "Just Us".
FYI of Lisa Fisher she sung background for Luther Vandross and also for The Rolling Stones. She has a top class voice. But did not really like the spotlight and didn’t want to continue to sing as the lead.
@@deborahtaylor3617 I'm well aware of Lisa's background and have seen "20 Feet From Stardom". Lisa was born in Brooklyn, so was I, and she lives less than 10 blocks from my home. As a matter of fact I own 3 copies of "On The Upside", her first hit record which I bought when it was released.
I second this 👍🏾
Love Lisa Fischer's voice, her talent ❤
If ever there was a hit these beautiful women sang for all the hot blooded females in England in the 80s
Martha Wash one half of the Weather Girls also laid down vocals on some of the biggest club hits of the 90s it's her singing on Gonna make you sweat (everybody dance now) by C&C Music Factory
Sean " for some big women they were rockin" 😂😂😂 Hey dude, us big women need loving too!!! More cushion for the pushin! 😂
