I will always be a fan of Tiesto no matter what, but did anyone here see him live during the "Adagio for Strings" era? I was too young, but i'm sure it must have been a freaking EPIC moment in dance music.
This Charming Man He actually just remixed/reworked Adagio For Strings. William Orbit made a trance track out of the original classical piece which is by Samuel Barber. And man,all I'm saying is you don't know what you've missed...Tiësto is the biggest genius/dj in the history of trance in my opinion,he was truly one of a kind. I saw him 13 times in 4 different countries, saw him play a 12 hour set once. I saw him at his Elements of Life show at the Gelredome, the same place he played in for Tiësto In Concert. Best time of my life when he was still in trance.
His "golden" era was to me a much better experience. But mainly because trance was designed to be epic and huge sounding. I can't fault him for switching genre. But it just doesn't have as much impact as old trance did.
12 hour set? Damn. Speaking of "old" tiesto, i remember seeing tiesto in concert 2 (2004) on dvd as a kid. Ever since then i wanted to see him and luckily 2 years ago it finally happened. He rarely performs in the netherlands anymore just like yellow claw.
Yeah, went to both Tiësto in Concerts, I think I’ve seen him live over 25 times between 2001 and 2005. Still have a shitload of livesets from that era...
I LOVE this man, i met him at Coachella back in 2008, went up to him said hello and he was so kind enough to take a picture and chat with my sister and I. Such a humble man for his status. LOVE YOU!
So he says: "then I try to slow it down and bring more emotional music in..." as Jackie Chan fades in. LMAO. I'm not hating on his newer stuff at all, it's entertaining but emotionless.
Tiesto was the first DJ I saw live at my first music festival (Electric Forest 2011) and lets just say, I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life. Incredible....
I love this man with all my heart, shed a couple tears watching this video. His Wife, Annika and her family are close friends from North Dakota. Sweetest people in the world !!! Sure got lucky to be a part of Tiesto’s life !! Extremely proud of T’s Dj career. THE GREATEST!!!
I've never experienced something quite like Tiesto live. No I wasn't high (don't do any drugs), only had a couple of drinks. His performances are something next level. Everyone is happy and vibing together. Very cool
Same here. Saw him for the first time at EDC and you can definitely see the experience in his set. It flowed so naturally and he knew what the crowd wanted. Nothing was chopped up or had awkward pauses. A true professional.
I've been a fan of Tiesto since day one, I still remember going to my first concert back in 2006 a true legend that even though plays commercial EDM nowadays I still admire and respect him in all senses
Google Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Rollo & Sister Bliss, Junior Vasquez, Carl Cox, Sasha, Danny Tenaglia, they are proper dance music, Tiësto is vacuous pop music.
@thephoenix3155 I know all of them, I saw Paul Van Dyk a few weeks ago and Danny Tenaglia next month. The very first trance song I heard was Suburban Train and since then I fell in love with electronic music. My point was that even though he completely switched styles I respect him for what he was and how he changed the scene in the early 2000s
Dance music is not your blood. You started with Trance, you became famous for Trance, You became a millionaire from Trance -> You became a legend in Trance. You evolved in dance and became a god of a DJ for being flexible and being able to continue being a top DJ in different genres -> But just know, trance is your blood. Now go do a trance set and sell some tickets
He and his manager are jerks, I used to see him at least twice a year in an International airport I used to work at. HE WAS HORRIBLE WITH FANS ASKING FOR PICTURES! His manager wanted Oil Prince treatment without paying, both rarely tipped the staff. DJerk Tiesto.
I’m sure he started music because it was his passion. As we grow we find new passions and that’s what happened here. Happy he is doing what makes him happy regardless of the previous image he is supposed to hold because fans can’t change with him.

Tiesto's Club Life Podcast is still going strong today and I listen every week. He went from narrating the show in Dutch so long ago and now perfect fluent English. Tiesto's remixes always introduced me to new artists. "Tiesto remix" on the end of a track and I was instant clicking to listen. Great person as well. Married recently and he looks happier then ever. Thanks Tijs. Lekker dat :) I still miss Tim (Avicii) all the time. I hear Netflix is releasing one backed by his family this year in 2023. Can't wait. 3 and a half years after his death and right now he is #72 in the world on Spotify. Wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older.

I have been attending dnace music parties and festivals since around 2006, mostly parties until My first taste of a true EDM experience was a concert inside of a small venue called "Lima" in Washington Dc on my birthday Dec. 9th in 2008. It was pretty intense and i was hooked. I went to many underground raves around the DC, VA, and MD area and some music festies like EDC in LA and Orlando, Ultra in Miami, and many individual sets as well. One that sticks out a little more then others was when TIESTO played the ucf arena in 2010. What an incredible night that was. His music took us all on a wild rollercoaster ride of emotions. It was the kaleidoscope remixed tour and his set was so masterfully put together!! Starting with a 7 min song "kaleidoscope" that literally felt like the initial climb to the top peak of a rollercoaster before the beat and all of us dropped in one fell swoop, from that point until we said goodbye, it was a hell of a journey. Because of my completely separate struggles with opiates and alcohol later in life, i was in rehab in north palm beach florida when i met cool chick from Europe. She would always be outside listening to songs on her ipod and through her headphones one day I could hear some EDM specifically Tiesto. We sat and talked a little while about our experiences in the culture. It was incredible to hear her tell us how it was overseas compared to here in the US. One thing that she said though that struck me and I'll never forget it, was this one time she was in the airport somewhere in Europe when she saw Tiesto sitting in the lobby. She said she walked up because he was alone and tried talking to him, but he didn't seem very engaged and maybe even a little agitated. But she said the moment that she asked him "your music is so beautiful how on Earth do you create such a beautiful music?" She said all the sudden his face just lit up and he became super engaged and started telling her all these amazing processes that he goes through to create his music. She said that you could tell that he was completely in love with the music. I always love that because that love of the music has carry him through decades without losing any of its charm on him. He's a great DJ. He was a great when it was just trance and he's still great he's just overall loves music not just pigeonholing his sound into one sub-genre. Thanks for this interview.
I grew up with tiesto loved the old one and still love the new one, if you’re a real fan you wouldn’t care about what he has become you should care about how much he has grown as a dj and how much he had helped dance music grow... will always love this man and I hope to meet him some day
I know Tij aka tiesto personally and above the music his has created which is my favorite of all time, tiesto is an amazing person, super down and gives his time to others and really shows he cares for you as another human. He listens and will take time to bond with anyone. Truly one of my favorite people in the world. Very cool guy! I have told him many times I wish you still played Trance. Can you imagine what else he could have created if given another 15 years of creating trance, Legend. I call him King! Kind of like a Elvis Presley of Trance. His music transcends trance and time, Astral Projections are another.
When I was young this man opened up a world of music for me with trance Era music, I'm happy to see him do it his way. I'm just happy I lived in the Era of in search of sunrise era.
Tiesto (in search of sunrise)was no boubt one of the big reasons I got in to Dance/Trance music nearly 20 years ago but yea... it was 20 years ago and I haven't listened to Tiesto in a loooooooooooong time because he "evolved" in to something I didn't like, but people just need to let people do what they feel is right for them and not condemn it. He's happy and he makes many people happy, we who don't really care for his music anymore can listen to someone else. It's not like there's ever been a drought in electronic music, atleast in my opinnion. My taste has evolved slightly too so it's natural if a DJ's does too. Just do your own things.
I don't listen to any of his stuff from the past 15 years but I am forever grateful for Lethal Industry., A true trance classic. Glad he is still having fun at 50.
I still like him for the time he gives to the music industry. He did change but he's still in the music world we love and I guess where his fans want him to be. He did lost some fans over the years but he gained some, too. From the new generation and surely from the upcoming batch of music lovers and artists alike. I wish him the best.
Imagine eating the same foods or watching the same movies for years. No matter how great it is, it doesn't take you long to get tired of it. To say Tiësto has been making trance for a long time is an understatement. As an experienced noob who's only made, like, ten tracks over the span of just a year, I can already confirm it gets boring to create the same stuff over and over. Sooner or later, you're gonna want some variety. The fact that Tiësto stuck with trance for so long as amazing; it only took artists like Avicii about five years to break and get overly creative. I'd like to point out his song "WOW." First, he's clearly not selling out if he's still making stuff like this, because it's not radio-friendly whatsoever. Second, nobody paid attention. If you were presented with the option to get hundreds of thousands of dollars for one song or a couple thousand for another, it's pretty clear which you would choose. Yes, it sucks Tiësto isn't the same, but he's done so much already, it may be best to just let it go and embrace what he's making or has already made.
So you want to say that McDonald's cheeseburger in 2002 was different than today's one? The same thing with coca cola, do you like it because it's different every time? Eggs are the same each year, coffee doesn't change for ages. We love quite the same things during the lifetime. Yes, Tijs said he got tired of trance. We have not.
You have a point, but there's a difference between music and food. You may be fine eating the same cheeseburger every week, as this take not even ten minutes and there's plenty of space in between. Music takes hours upon hours per day, and, if you want to be as good as Tïesto, lots of passion and devotion. If you're going to be eating the same cheeseburger for hours every day, you're gonna get pretty tired of it. If it took as long to make trance as it took to listen to it, it'd be easier to blame him for selling out, but it's not as simple as it seems. Not trying to hate or anything, but this is how I perceive this situation.
I got into EDM back in 2003 because of Tiesto, and I still like most of his music. What annoys me is the people saying "he sold out", or "the trance era was better", blah blah BLAH. Listen, music is like coffee, some people hate it, some people like it with cream, cream no sugar, etc. It's music and it's meant to lift your spirits and gets you to dance. WHO CARES IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. SOME PEOPLE DO! Get over yourself and listen to the old stuff or listen to stuff you like.
The Elements of Life Tour was something unforgettable. I will forever remember it as one of the most special things I've experienced. It was 2007... he played for five hours his set with an immense strucuture, and designed for his own concept and spectacle. Who else could have done that? Tiesto is something way better than he appears to everybody right now, and is way behind what he can do as a musician. I bet that in some years he will be already way too rich, then he will take a chill and start making music for him again, not for others with the functionality of appeal and profit.
patrick o donnell keep hating. He is set for life. With that cancer music. He is living his best life. You 2 are talking shit on the internet. Haha the sad life
I highly respect Tiësto, I know a lot of his fans doesn’t like when he moved towards EDM but to me, this is a challenge and I know he’s a type of guy who is not mediocre and a guy who is not afraid to face another challenge. Trance to EDM, a lot is different and if you still drives the emotion of the public, so be it. It’s him, just like music evolving.
Everybody commenting how they are no longer fans because of his progression. Stfu you were never a true fan then, you were a fan of a music genre. I am a fan of djs who have jumped around different genres & I’ve still supported them even if those genres weren’t my favorite. Why? Because I admire their ability to produce & how they are willing to take risks, I’m not the biggest Tiesto fan but I respect his craft. it sucks to see people talking down on him just because he’s chasing his bag & leaving his print in EDM culture.
loko lokko I see your point. This video explains why he’s so influential. I just think that he deserves more credit. His sets are actually amazing & enjoyable. I’ve heard a lot big name djs actually starting to use a lot of trance in their music, more specifically Psy trance & it sounds amazing & the crowds love it. You never know maybe Tiesto will produce more trance in the future.
Being playing his music since he was underground. Good to see he came up and brought EDC to the main Stage. Personally I am old school and I prefer his old music since it was definitely more trance and stayed more truthful to the music. His new music is still good but his initial music is classic in my ears. But good to see he’s remained as humble as always. Just hope he remembers his roots and gets into the trance state a bit more. He’s being pressured I’m sure by the labels he’s in. But money isn’t everything. Armin On the other hand has remain a lot more loyal and has retained more of his integrity musically. Hopefully tiesto reads this. Bring back the SOUL to your music. Money comes and goes. Emotion, transcendence, and love. That’s is what’s makes music immortal..
Screw the haters. Everyone wants to make it big. He feels he hasnt done that yet or given EDM the exposure it needs. It is better to burn out than to fade away.
Tiesto has had quite a successful long career. Whether it's your type of music, he has helped the industry very much. I can't stand the Beatles, but I respect their work and understand.
Tiesto is the greatest legend of Electronic Music. With all his trajectory is enough but then also all the supporting, discovering and who knows maybe even creating new artists. I had already heard the importance of Tiesto in Martin Garrix rise but then also Avicii man...is still sad just to write about him... he also had a great importance in Avicii's rise, and the point is that what Tiesto has done is unbelievable. True legend.
Love tiesto. I have a prayer candle with his face on it that I took to EDC 2016 cause it was my first time seeing him and he was my favorite DJ at the time
Igor Bukový he's a superstar because he's a legend, earns a lot of money and right now his single Jackie chan is one of the most listened songs worldwide.
I went to Vegas suicidal after my break up to who i thought was the love of my life and I was blessed to watch him in hakassan now Im a business owner and lover of life. To you it might be shitty music but to me it saved my life
I'm sure it's lucrative but accepting residency at a Las Vegas casino to play techno music for drunk 20-somethings has got to be the most demoralizing thing any person with "Talent" can do.
I don't know was Frank Sinatra singing to a bunch of coked-out college students? You can't compare the 1950s to Modern Day Las Vegas. It's apples and oranges. Black Tie versus swim trunks.
It's all the same, the world and fads just keep changing. Suits are old fashioned, just look at how CEOs in silicon valley dress now. People got faded back then and they do now. Music is played with different instruments but still the same chords and drum progressions.
I will always be a fan of Tiesto no matter what, but did anyone here see him live during the "Adagio for Strings" era? I was too young, but i'm sure it must have been a freaking EPIC moment in dance music.

I really like the interview with Tiesto, it was very inspirational....
Thanks for bringing this up I seen it drop in Ibiza
I don't listen to any of his stuff from the past 15 years but I am forever grateful for Lethal Industry., A true trance classic. Glad he is still having fun at 50.
Guys please tell me you remember Tiesto from 10 seconds before sunrise and from trance days
Dude has definitely created some amazing music and experiences for millions… he’s a Legend
He was great once..not now anymore.Trance lovers would always have despise for this OnceAlegend.
I still like him for the time he gives to the music industry.
He did change but he's still in the music world we love and I guess where his fans want him to be.
He did lost some fans over the years but he gained some, too. From the new generation and surely from the upcoming batch of music lovers and artists alike.
I wish him the best.
Am I the only one who loves the new tiesto as much as the old one? 😂❤️
I'm a 55 years young Las Vegas DJ.
My day will come.
Anyone remember these..

Ferry corsten completely disagrees with you
BRASIL: The Genius, The Legend, The King TIËSTO 👑🔰🙌
Legend. Truly feels like a star when he is in the room. Superstar.
Hey boy
Hey girl
Superstar DJ
HERE WE GO!
Tiësto 🔥👨🏻🎤
Break my fall
It's Angela.

KLASSIcs
Fucking love tiesto! I discovered him back in 2007 probably when I was just a 13 yr old that fell in love with EDM
Tiesto is always making waves 🎉
The Elements of Life Tour was something unforgettable. I will forever remember it as one of the most special things I've experienced. It was 2007... he played for five hours his set with an immense strucuture, and designed for his own concept and spectacle. Who else could have done that? Tiesto is something way better than he appears to everybody right now, and is way behind what he can do as a musician. I bet that in some years he will be already way too rich, then he will take a chill and start making music for him again, not for others with the functionality of appeal and profit.
This
I like his older music than his newer music.
Video is only of 2018 but feels like it is shot in 2003 or 2004
ALLURE FOR LIFE!!! Best DJ in the World!
Show Me The Way...
That's actually one of their worst tracks.
booooo gotta enjoy it as modern trance, it 100% sounds like tiesto
TIESTO IS LIKE THE ELVIS OF THE NEW GENERATION
Tiësto is a legend 😊😍
*was
Alien Unicorn Kitty91 is he dead, or are you braindead?
@@z3ro7o lol typical immature response. I loved tiesto but now he's trash now.
He was a legend hes a sellout now plays musical cancer
patrick o donnell keep hating. He is set for life. With that cancer music. He is living his best life. You 2 are talking shit on the internet. Haha the sad life
Adagio for strings, Athena, and other tracks from his pre-2008 discography was pure gold.
1997-2004 Tiësto was my God...
This days? 💩
Yeah... not so much!…
1997-2008 😉
Like me buddy
IF YOU WINNING WHY CHANGE DUDE? OF COURSE HE WILL LOSE FANS CHANGE FOR THIS SHITT MUSIC, HE JUST SELL OUT DUDE THAT S WHY PPL ARE UPSET
loko lokko I see your point. This video explains why he’s so influential. I just think that he deserves more credit. His sets are actually amazing & enjoyable. I’ve heard a lot big name djs actually starting to use a lot of trance in their music, more specifically Psy trance & it sounds amazing & the crowds love it. You never know maybe Tiesto will produce more trance in the future.
you have bad taste and dumb logic
Still garbage
Nope, you're wrong. We all loved the man and his music. You can love a DJ that much that you actually care about them.
49?? Damn he looks good
Sylvia G he’s daddy
Hahahahahq
he’s the king of kings
Lol...they said one of the best song was red lights😂try Element of Life!
I was 11 years old when he released Adagio - been a fan my whole life and will continue to be a fan. He's an amazing DJ!
HE WAS THE BEST NOW IS MAHH MAN ARMIN THE KING OF TRANCE!!!!!!!
Armin also kind of sold out but I rather them talk about armin than tiesto
Tiesto and Armin are basically the Messi and Ronaldo of trance music
Tiesto just wants to stay young and party forever. yall trippin over him not playing trance nowadays
Screw the haters. Everyone wants to make it big. He feels he hasnt done that yet or given EDM the exposure it needs. It is better to burn out than to fade away.
My men Tea Yes Toe is just out here flexin' on damn haters with that daily lifestyle xD
Tiesto has had quite a successful long career. Whether it's your type of music, he has helped the industry very much. I can't stand the Beatles, but I respect their work and understand.
Grew up on kaskade. But found Tiesto interesting as well
Tiesto is the greatest legend of Electronic Music.
His 49 !!😲
Love tiesto. I have a prayer candle with his face on it that I took to EDC 2016 cause it was my first time seeing him and he was my favorite DJ at the time
Did ABC News just broadcasted their first real news 🤔
I just don't understand how someone his age can still making bangers and keep touring like crazy. Usually these musicians turn into legacy acts
Tiesto is a PIMP! Music Genius !
GARBAGE NOISE REAL CRAP MUSIC
Justin Merkes Vol. 1 Vegas was amazing
Listened to tiesto when I was in elementary, and still listen to him today. Also that Avicii moment was everything! ❤️
Thijs je bent vooruit gegaan in de engelse taal, van harte gefeliciteerd👍
Haha!
I started listening to Tiësto cuz of X..back in 99.2000...and dam I'm old
Lmao, love how All of Me got him a Grammy. It's actually quite sad.
Coolest DJ ever! So down to earth and humble
In search of sunrise. Thee best
i saw Tiesto live 3 years ago. been a fan since 1998. the best in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hes also not a press play type dj
Tiesto is a mainstream DJ!! Not sure why he thinks he is underground. Just made me laugh....LOL!!
I know it's a laugh. LAS VEGAS nightclubs connected to a casino is UNDERGROUND! lol
He knows he's not... but he can at what ever the fuck he wants to these EDM kids who have no clue about electronic music history
He was underground. Not alot of people know about him. He didnt become mainstream until he start to collaborate with mainstream artists and now EDM.
I love Tiesto so much!❤️❤️❤️
Lived the old school era living the new school. Love them both.
Superstar? He is a fallen star! He was 1 of the best in the trance family! Since he has left the trance community i do not care about him anymore!
Igor Bukový he's a superstar because he's a legend, earns a lot of money and right now his single Jackie chan is one of the most listened songs worldwide.
Savage
I went to Vegas suicidal after my break up to who i thought was the love of my life and I was blessed to watch him in hakassan now Im a business owner and lover of life. To you it might be shitty music but to me it saved my life
Tiesto talking about losing your identity...
Tiesto is a legend and king of edm ❤️🔥
I'm sure it's lucrative but accepting residency at a Las Vegas casino to play techno music for drunk 20-somethings has got to be the most demoralizing thing any person with "Talent" can do.
So if you go back to Vegas 50 years ago and you saw Frank Sanatra and the Rat Pack in a club performing for people, would you have the same opinion?
I don't know was Frank Sinatra singing to a bunch of coked-out college students? You can't compare the 1950s to Modern Day Las Vegas. It's apples and oranges. Black Tie versus swim trunks.
It's all the same, the world and fads just keep changing. Suits are old fashioned, just look at how CEOs in silicon valley dress now. People got faded back then and they do now. Music is played with different instruments but still the same chords and drum progressions.
Saw Tiesto live for the first time and it was a cool experience the best dj ever
