Molly, I loved this video. And your color pallet spoke to me. I love that you showed and spoke about your disappointments and how you work through things. So many things we see on RUclips are edited to only show the very best and not the trials and tribulations to get there. Thanks!
I love seeing your sketches, I think they're great! The print came out so nicely too, it's amazing to see how the colours of the next layer completely changes the image. Thank you for sharing ❤
I really loved this video, your discussion of your thought process and the resulting print! Thanks so much for sharing it all as you experiment with your style and push your comfort zone and experiment with new colors and subjects.
Thanks for sharing this Molly - as someone who is quite new to wood engraving, I am experimenting and experiencing some frustration and challenges as well as successes. It's good to see someone with so much experience also working through the learning process and trying new things, and thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your sketches too. I think the print was a success!
Hi Jess! Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment! I always think you've got to keep trying new things and be open to failure in order to move forward 👌 Good luck with your wood engravings!
I think it’s gorgeous, the colours may be different than your usual palette but the mark making seems very much ‘you’. I love how you keep striving to learn through experimentation and I love hearing your self-reflection on your process too; both the technical and creative challenges you face. Am excited to see the next collection and your calendar! 😊
Love this video and of the course the lilac and purples you used. I enjoyed seeing your process of creating art in your sketchbook and your finished prints. 🙏💜
I’m normally a blue/green person, but I loved these tones. I think the difference in sketches to orients is just the nature of the two mediums, one being so fluid and 2D and the other being much more controlled, 3d in the plate and layered. Maybe there’s a place for reproducing your fav sketches for sake two, or elements of them. Keep going, changes of direction are always a bit nerve wracking but well worth doing. x
Really loving your layering wood engraving, but please lubricate your rolling tool. The high pitched squeaking really frightened my dog. Highly anticipating your next video.
Beautiful colours and I love the sketch and the printed rhubarb: you are just a talented artist! It is great to see your process too. What is the largest size print you ever do? I suppose it is difficult to invest in creating large prints unless they are commissioned?
Hi Kerry! Thank you so much! The biggest engraving I’ve done is around 23x12cm, it’s tricky because the blocks are expensive, plus it takes a long time to engrave and also it’s hard to engrave the centre of a big block as I find my hand hits the wood in a way that means I can’t always engrave at the angle I’d like!
Both new print are beautiful and love the blend of new colors!
Thank you so much Pamela!
Oh I LOVE this one. Totally my colours!!
Thank you so much Carolyn!

That's very kind of you to say, thank you! I feel these longer videos create far more authentic documenting of the process for sure!
I love this, I think your style still came through but I see what you mean on how different it is from your sketch. 😊
Thank you! Yes it always confuses me 😅
Loved your new colours. Loved the rhubarb shape in front of your lavender shapes. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching! ☀️
I love the colours. The print is lovely and has a Japanese style to it!
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Natalie, and yes it's crazy how quickly a print can change isn't it, sometimes I feel I can't keep up with it 😅
Just beautiful!!❤
Thank you! 😊
This print is great! The composition, execution and color scheme are top notch. Thanks for sharing your process.
Thanks so much! That's kind of you to say!
☺👏🙂
I really enjoyed this video and watching the progress of the print. To my eyes it was a success !
I'm so glad! Thank you!
I think it was a resounding success!!!
Thank you!!

Glad you enjoyed it! It's been good to be more experimental recently!

Beautiful colour pallette Molly.
Thank you!!
Great video, always fascinating listening to other artists talk about their process, keep up the good work 😊
Thank you, I'm pleased to hear that!

Thank you Natalie, I think this piece felt especially different due to the lack of horizon/sky. Thank you for your support as always!

Thank you very much! 🥰

Thank you! Yes you're probably right, the mediums are very different indeed so it's not surprising the results differ so much!
Excuse the typos, my predictive text is sneaky, changes things after I’ve moved on 😂

Thank you! I really need to sort it, they all squeak like this, one of those jobs I never seem to get around to 🙈
