Possibly one of the BEST Smith Songs!
One of the most underrated songs of the smiths
The only song on the LP they never played live. Because, Johnny Marr said, playing it in the context of a raucous concert environment would've "been like kicking a puppy to death"!
One of Andy Roukes most melodic Basslines in their catalogue. You’re gonna enjoy the next one Barbarism Begins At Home. You should definitely hit the first album next or Strangeways Here We Come.
Maybe Louder Than Bombs as well!!!
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
A beautifully haunting song
"Well I Wonder" and the non-album single "Asleep" are my two favourite Smiths ballads. Musically, "Well I Wonder" is gentle, dreamy and soulful, with its beautiful guitar arpeggios and silky bass line. Lyrically, the mood is disillusioned and disenchanted. Morrissey's high-pitched vocals are almost like a desperate plea to the object of his desire.
also i won't share you... the perfect career closure with that sweet harmonica outro at the end
One of my Top 5 Smith songs. Wonderful arrangement and atmospherics.
The keyboard sound is actually more Marr guitar. He's such a fine melody maker.
Loving all the love for this song. It's such a beautiful track and it's one of my faves. It's hard to choose! I have a lovely memory (well, lovely to me anyway 😅) of listening to this song on my way home one day. As you know, Florida is weird and can be raining in your front yard and not in the back lol. So I'm driving one day, listening to this song, and it wasn't raining. The exact moment the rain started in the song was the exact moment I turned onto the road that led me home and into a pocket of rain. The coolest coincidence ever!
It's in my top 3 Smiths songs. Beautiful melody, enchanting vocals. It makes me feel like I want to cry.
Johnny Frickin' Marr!!
That intro puts me in mind of Prefab Sprout
One of my favorite tracks from the smiths!
I love how Rourke's bassline drifts in this song.
I can’t explain how much I love this song, the next track is sooooo good, really enjoyed this.
One of my favs from this album. Great song!
One of my absolute favourites. Wonderful vocal on the one.
Sublime track.
Meant the world to me when I was 17, obviously - how could it not when you're 17?
This lyric is full of (mis-)quotes from Elizabeth Smart's "Grand Central Station" - one of that handful of books (Popcorn Venus is another) he was bricolaging-to-death for lyrics during this period
Not a bad track on this album, but i can't wait for 'Barbarism Begins At Home'. A real highpoint for the rhythm section!
Great song. We all have high hopes for the final
2 tracks!
One of my favourite Smiths tunes. You should explore some of the more mellow songs. Some are absolutely stunning..Unlovable and Asleep spring to mind
Very soulful
My favorite Smith's song. Sara Lov made a nice cover of it as well.
Beautiful song
Yeah, "Think of Me" from _Phantom_ was it. Great Smiths track.
Thank you again for another great reaction love from Australia! Please do more Smiths & Morrissey
Ty oscillate! Will do
Please play Cowboy Junkies “Common Disaster” at Massey Hall or their cover version of “Sweet Jane” Lou Reed said he liked it more than his own.
One of my favorite smiths songs ever.. Now it's about time to react to Suede - My Dark Star (Amazing b-side) :)
Good one here love it love you
One of the most lugubrious voices in his county and/or high school...whichever comes first. Obviously. Have you done their big ass hits "How Soon Is Now" and "Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Le Me Git What I Want"? It was in "16 Candles" I think. The first one was on heavy repeat at dance clubs at the time, and would never fail to get people on their feet. Then you would dance lugubriously like Ally Sheedy might dance if she danced.
It’s almost ‘tex-mex’ in places!
Probably my favourite song by The Smiths. Simple and complex if that makes sense. Wistful and desperate.
React to 'Night at Bald Mountain' or 'Nautilus' by Bob James!
Please. 🤔
@@Owlstretchingtime78 you're welcome...

Jazz 🤮. Great Smiths song, shame how things turned out.
