    I knew a neighbor with a friendly pitbull. The pit was playful and nice to everybody. One day he came in contact with a new dog and for some reason he went crazy and clamped down on the other dog's neck. If you're not familiar with Pitbulls they have powerful jaws and it is hard to get some of them to release. The owners finally got the Pitbull to release the dog but sadly ended up dying. To this day I love Pitbulls but I do not trust them around other dogs. I know there are going to be some that will say it's the owner, not the breed, but every time I hear or see an attack it's always a Pitbull involved. So even though the lady was being way too extra, I can understand her being upset.

NEVER trust when that can happen. owners who don't know any better will say it's the owners or their dog is good around children and other dogs. BULLSHIT. they are failing to know their own dogs insticts and you then can't trust that owner either. i love pitbulls myself as i love all dogs...but they are the only breed i will never trust and will always have an eye on them.

    • @nashawnlivingston2965
      @nashawnlivingston2965 Год назад

      There are anywhere between 4.5-18 million pitbulls in the US (statistic varies since pitbull isn’t technically a breed and is more based on appearance. They are among the most common types of dog, 6-20% of all dogs.)
      Now, about 30-50 people in the US die per year due to dog attacks, the 284 deaths is in the span of 13 years (I saw the statistic, it’s 2005-2018). If we were to assume the high end of that aforementioned number of deaths (50), the proportion of deaths from pitbulls would be only 30/4.5 million which means the percentage of pitbulls that kill is only 0.00000666666 (~0.0007%, less than a *thousandth* of all pitbulls.) Keep in mind I’m using the higher estimation of fatal dog attacks and lower estimation of pitbull population. So even with pitbulls, the risk of death is actually not high.
      You hear about killer dogs more often than the realistic likelihood of it occurring because a dog attack is more unusual and notable than a normal acting dog. In reality, fatal dog attacks are pretty uncommon relative to any given breeds population. Even if you considered pitbulls as a uniform breed, the proportion of deaths is very low for how common and populous they are

I went to the vet today and a lady had an aggressive pit lunging and barking at another woman with a sick pomeranian. The pit owner could hardly contain it and all her and the techs did was laugh. I went off saying how wrong it is to even allow an aggressive dog in the waiting area scaring other people and animals. I canceled my appointment and left. People think it's a fkn joke but when you have a psycho huge dog trying to maul you or your pet to death you understand how serious of an issue it actually is and especially so with a breed notorious of such acts.

    It's a simple matter of respect and decency, people are so damn dismissive... I had a dog come up to my door as I was getting home with my dog, initially it appeared friendly and of course the "owner" walked up nonchalantly and says oh he's ok he's friendly and only seconds later the dog starts growling so NO this lady is not a Karen. Smdh. Leash laws are there for a reason, if you can't get a damn leash or keep control of your dog because of a baby in your arms then maybe don't have a dog. If the dog would've snapped or been triggered, this headline would be different and the 'Karen' would've been RIGHTFULLY pursuing legal action.

    Have you ever been in a situation like hers? I have been there many times and I`m a white woman from Poland. When it comes to my dog, "Karen" activates in me at the speed of light when my dog is in danger. Can you try to understand her? She walks her dog on a leash - you don't know how he/she reacts to other dogs. Another dog runs around unattended, approaches despite being chased away, this isn`t fun, this situation can soon turn into something dangerous, right between her legs there can be a bloody fight.
    My dog hates big dogs, especially German Shepherds, she gets an attack of aggression at the sight of them. If someone let the shepherd go free, didn`t guard him, I would react similarly (emotionally), I would be in a phase of rage and fury. I would NEVER let my dog get bitten, I would cover her with my body. That's why I carry pepper spray with me, thanks to it I have already chased away one dog without an owner who, just like this bad boy, didn`t want to leave me alone, he even jumped on me when I held my dog in my arms. Honestly? I would carry a knife with me if I had one that opens automatically to protect not only myself but also my family member in such a situation. Fortunately, pepper spray is enough to scare away other animals.
    Guys... so many times you talk about how we women are different from you men... and you can't sympathize with this woman? Why are you laughing at her? Because she makes funny noises? Nah. She's been through something terrible. I hope her dog is safe and sound. Miss, buy yourself some pepper spray, I really recommend it, possibly a telescopic baton.

"Obedience training" means to those persons as being "unkind" to their dog. Some rental communities, some home owner's insurance have warning notice they won't accept, they won't insurance if the dog is on their "dangerous dog list."

      @Angie 70% of all fatal dog attacks are from Pits. That animal, thats bred to fight and kill, was running straight at her and her dog. She was understandably afraid. Also we have a 3rd person view that makes it clear that he was trying to play, but she probably couldn't see that due to the understandable fear and possibility bad angle of view. She wasn't being extra at all. Also it shouldn't be someone else's responsibility to keep their dogs away from other dogs who's owners refuse to put leashes on. Sometimes it's not your choice whether you keep it away from them.

However, she handled that horribly and just got the pitbull more hyped up. Off lead and out of control pitbulls are the sole reason I carry a knife. If any out of control pitbull attacks my dog I'll slit its throat. Thankfully I've never had to do it and hope I never will.
