Had gout for the first time almost a year ago (I'm almost 53). That started my journey to Keto and intermittent fasting. I was eating a lot of organ meat, started drinking alcohol in minor amounts, and fell off the low carb bandwagon simply from complacency. I would like to start eating chicken/beef liver and gizzards again as my sinful pleasure but also because of the nutrients they provide. I've lost 42 lbs going from 197 to 155.

I recently got back on the wagon. Have had gout issues in my knees for years. This last time that I wandered off the diet, I was in so much pain I couldnt sleep. I knew either I join the old lady's club and take pills and get replacements and complain about my ills and brag about my pills, or get back on the wagon, so I started with the sardine challenge, then went to ketovore. Its only beens 2 weeks and I've lost 10#, I have never lost that much that fast since I've been post menopause. I contribute it to the sardines. The pain in my knees is almost gone. I'm sleeping again. There is hope!

Age 71 got gout because I took ibuprofen and alcohol simultaneously and damaged my kidneys resulting in gout.
Cure took time but worked after many different approaches.
I couldn’t bend the big toe and after videos of what the hard toffie looked like I bent my toe forward and backwards and could hear the crackling sound of it breaking up. Didn’t hurt as much as walking. The next day the pain walking was about half.
Lemons squeezed into water all day long for weeks and no alcohol to let the kidneys heal. I take turmeric for osteoporosis and I believe this helps too. Drank a LOT of lemon water and tried to do 2 meals a day.
It worked. Now I drink alcohol daily including IPAs. If I start to feel a little twinge in my toe I take potassium supplement per Dr.Berg. It’s fine the next day.
I eat a lot of meat and could do better on carbohydrates since my A1C is 5.6.
After watching just about every gout RUclips video I believe there’s a lot of ways to end up with gout. Be aware of the prescription side effects if you go that route.
    Good luck.

I don't know about what you're claiming here. I have my doubts. FIrst of all, you don't burn complex Carbs. You burn glucose (simple carbs) that is in your blood stream. Carbs that have been turned into sugars.
Cardio will burn the sugars that your liver produces. but you don't burn complex carbs. Second, Cardio DOES burn fat stores, (not fat directly) but fat stores. And the only way you'll lose fat is by increasing metabolism (exercise) and limiting your caloric intake.
Only limiting your calories and not exercising will result in your body (at some point) fighting you by lowering your metabolism. You have to increase your metabolism by increasing expended calories. ONE WAY of doing this is to LIFT WEIGHTS and gain muscle mass. And at the same time doing some cardio.
Most men as they age will experience insulin resistance which can become Pre-diabetic. This is because of simple carbs like bread, pasta and sugars.
STOP THE FUCKING SNACKS !!! LOL

Fructose does not directly convert to uric acid as stated in the video. The mechanism is indirect. Fructose shuts down the mitochondria activity leading to an accumulation of AMP which it's then disposed by the body into uric acid.

    • @BlueMetalJacket1
      @BlueMetalJacket1 Месяц назад

That’s exactly what she’s saying though. 3:15 on: years of uric acid not being rid of, because the body is busier processing the fructose alcohol etc from your body. Same for the endogenous (“natively made” by body) purines, being a way bigger factor than meat being eaten. It sticks around bc of fructose/alcohol adds to the traffic jam which gets so bad uric acid crystals compile and hurt joints.

According to Dr. Robert Lustig, the way our bodies handle alcohol and fructose is very similar, as is the damage caused by either. There would probably be little benefit from switching from wine, in order to reduce fructose, to whiskey, due to higher alcohol content.

      You are welcome.
There are quite a few videos of Dr. Lustig's lectures and interviews here on youtube that I have found to be worth watching, despite many being longer than I am usually patient enough to watch. Dhru Purohit and Jesse Chappus have some of the good interviews, including a few short excerpts from longer podcast episodes. (One of my favorites is about the carnivore diet.)
Dr. Andrew Huberman also speaks about the effects of alcohol that might influence your friend's decision about whether to continue drinking it. Sorry to hear that "his life won't be that long for many reasons". I have felt that way myself several times over the years, but believe that some decisions I have made about improving my health have proven that to be not true so far. (My doctor is certain that eating a low carb high fat diet will have the opposite effect, but time will tell whether that is true.) I am now definitely closer to the end than the beginning, which has motivated me to do even more to protect what is left of me up 'til the end. Not going down without a fight.
