I grew up in the 60's when junk food was just becoming popular. My family raised our own animals for meat and always had a garden. We NEVER had sweets unless it was a birthday or Christmas celebration. Didn't have a cola until I was a teen. Needless to say my Mom and step dad raised a house full of healthy active children with excellent teeth. My Mom went through a round of depression and bought a huge box of sweetened cereal to make breakfast easier for her.. I will never forget my dad's reaction. He threw the box away and said, "You're going to give these kids diabetes and rotten teeth!" He stepped his game up and made sure we had plenty of quick and easy snacks and meals, all fresh from the garden and cases of sardines. I used to think my brothers and I were deprived and treated wrong for not being allowed to eat sugar and processed foods. Now I'm convinced I had the absolute best parents ever! I'm about to do the 72 hr sardine challenge in honor of my dad.
Your father was very smart. Throwing out that sugar bomb, which is all it was, probably saved your mother from worse depression. My own mother went through a short bout of depression back in the late 1960s and her doctor told her to eat more fish and vegetables---we had our own small garden, and she loved veggies---and that really did help her a lot. She never experienced depression again right to the day of her death 17 years ago.
No sweets or junk food in our house. I did the same with my daughter. She has perfect teeth with no cavities She's very healthy and accomplished. It's been the same way for my ancestors and my grandchildren 💕🎄
I live in Mediterranean and we can cook fresh sardines. All my ancestors lived past 100. My grandmother used to work until she was 98. They ate mainly fish (usually sardines) and a little of EVERYTHING else. A little meat, eggs, cheese, bread, olive oil. And they had good relationship with their community.

I had a doctor a long time ago who said i had high blood pressure. I was already on a pill for it, rather than up my dosage, he asked me what I ate at work, I was working for state parks at the time and was very active. I told him generally what I ate, which included canned tuna some times. After hearing that he told me to try sardines, at least once a day. One month later he had me off my bp meds, and I even felt better in general. I try to eat at least 5 cans a week. I wish more people gave this a chance.
I'm glad to know your Dr. took you off your bp meds....as I know so many meds have side effects. Maybe sardines will calm down my nervous system a little as I have epilepsy - tho now I have a VNS implant.

@@jonc2914 actually, that's about perfect for weight loss. 45/5=9 lbs per month or about 2.25 lbs per week. You really don't want to lose any faster than that.

This may be the most important video health conscious people can watch. I've been eating sardines since 1962 but not for health reasons. My dad and I would carry them on fishing trips because there was no preparation involved and too much time and trouble to go back to shore and eat. I love em. Got a pantry full of them as I write this. I like all flavors too. Sardines and Herring. I lived on sardines, freshwater fish, beans, coffee and ice tea and never had a weight problem, always underweight but all muscle because I did hard physical labor most of my life. Poor person and could not afford snacks, carbs and sweets. I'm 69 now and since I've retired my weight and cholesterol has been rising because I just sit here and watch your videos. Lol! Also because all my snacks are within arms distance of my computer. Prosperity is killing me. Jesus fed fish to the multitudes. That's good enough proof for me.
Sardines not in a can Dude: I was given canned Sardines forty years ago by a wife of a good friend when I suddenty turned up at his home to celebrate his family arrival from Communist VN. I enjoyed as his wife had no time to cook proper meal for me; I ate the canned Sardine and white rice then after a few hours I felt that I would collapse as there were nil any Energy left in me as my Digestive system had to digest junkie stuff, chemicals , Mercury and the cans coating of the sardines... I'm 76 year old man in Canada and have always eaten sardines regularly. Literally never get sick. And a couple of interesting unknown facts re sardines. The German army relied heavily on sardines ... called sprats in Europe... as a staple of their rations because of the high food value in a small easy to transport package/tin. And currently consumers may have noticed that sardines have not had the dramatic food price increase of other foods in the last year or so. That is because the large ocean fish... that lived on sardines... have been heavily overfished, especially by China, with the result sardine stocks have never been higher, hence the lower prices. So not only good for you but cheap.
That's fascinating! It's amazing how regularly consuming sardines has contributed to your overall health and well-being. The historical use of sardines as a staple in the German army's rations due to their high nutritional value is impressive. Additionally, the current availability and affordability of sardines due to the overfishing of larger ocean fish, which preyed on sardines, is an interesting insight. Sardines truly offer both health benefits and cost-effectiveness. Thanks for sharing this valuable information!
I did the sardine fast last week and loved it. Not totally all sardines, about 90%. Found the oil a bit hard to digest. Took TUDCA which helped. The third day was the best day. Lost 2.3kg.
Mix sardines with eggs, sour cream, and a little salt and pepper. It’s really just the traditional type tuna salad but with sour cream instead of mayo, and sardines. Its a great snack and I would recommend mixing in the eggs scrambled instead of boiled; changes texture for the better. 👍❤️
Sounds fantastic. I was strict keto for a year in 2017. Lost 60 pounds that way. Nowadays I'm on two meals a day and regularly eat a can of sardines as a supplement. Marvelous food.
Since discovering your channel, I've made sardines my primary daily meal, and the results have been remarkable. I haven't tried the 72-hour fast yet, but my weight, mood, and mental alertness have already improved significantly. Surprisingly, my allergies seem to have disappeared. Living in Texas, I usually suffer this time of year unless I take antihistamines. I've had a worsening autoimmune disease and an increasing histamine response to food, leading to a runny nose, bloating, stomach discomfort, brain fog and weight gain, even with exercise and 18-6 intermittent fasting. However, since incorporating sardines into my diet, these issues have subsided, and I've lost 8 pounds in 1.5 weeks. Even when I cheat a day and indulge in high-carb meals, I don't experience bloating or histamine reactions, and I continue to lose weight. In my opinion, sardines are truly magical little gut healers and overall wellness developers. When you dig down and really unpack this, it's at the core of this phenome of radical morbid obesity we see here in the USA. Our food, were it comes from and how we grow, process and ship it to market is so radically different from how we did it prior to 1960. Hence, the Mediterranean populations living longer and healthier as they still primarily grow, eat, consume food "The old way".
That's incredible! Your experience with incorporating sardines into your daily meals has brought remarkable results, from improved weight, mood, and mental alertness to the disappearance of allergies. It's fascinating to see how sardines have positively impacted your autoimmune disease and histamine response, leading to weight loss and relief from discomfort. The contrast between traditional food practices and modern methods sheds light on the health disparities we see today. Sardines truly have the potential to be gut healers and contributors to overall wellness. Keep up the amazing progress on your wellness journey!
I have to say, you have IMPRESSED me beyond belief. I did a 3 day sardine challenge, (with oil). The first day, I was HIT, I can't even say it any other way - I was HIT with so much energy, more than I ever felt my ENTIRE LIFE. It was unbelievable... but that's not all, I decided to incorporate them into my diet as well. I use avocado mayo and mix them in. Tastes like tuna salad to me. The jumpstart plus OMAD and keto together made my A1c go from 12 - yes freaking 12- blood glucose over 400 ! to 7.5 in.. ..get this.. 2 months ! what ? how ? A1c is supposed to show a 3 month stretch but in even LESS time it dropped. 2 months later and I test my blood glucose its 106. I went from DYING to HEALTHIER than I have been in quite some time in just 4 months. I suppose I should add that I dropped 45 pounds also, but it honestly feels like a SIDE EFFECT. ALL WITHOUT DRUGS. Now that I understand the importance of autophagy and reducing insulin and its resistance, I know what I need to do. @@Mellowdayzz Ok so keep in mind this is what I did, BUT I also was someone who KNEW that I had an overeating issue. I started out at 325 pounds. I was eating maybe twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day, very large meals, I mean EVERYTHING bad lots of fast food, "italian" restaurant food...chinese , corner store sandwiches, all complete with sodas, with snacks in between of bad carbs like pies or snack cakes little debbie type junk, and a milk of course to go with it. and I would eat 2 of them sandwiches when everyone else was eating just one. I had to be ingesting at least 1/3 more calories in general than the average person, finished my girlfriends, dinner... hope thats good enough to explain where I was...... So I started slowly. I cut out sugar and simple carbs first. continued to drink DIET soda to make up for it. THAT was STAGE 1. I did that for quite a while, it was very LOOSE you know, not too restrictive. Then for STAGE 2 I did my first fast. It was a full 3 day water fast. WITH electrolyte powder, FROM DR BERG website. Felt amazing. Then I did the "sardine challenge" which was just eat only sardines, as much as you want for 3 days. This is actually another type of fast that will lower insulin resistance and up your energy like nothing I have ever felt, it literally will kickstart your metabolism. I went straight to OMAD (one meal a day) STAGE 3 and I will eat either: 2 cans of sardines WITH OIL, and electrolyte powder. OR one half pound of my choice of ground meat, I switch between beef, pork, chicken, and use a simple sauce like a bit of tomato sauce or mustard or you know whatever to flavor it. Im not a cook so I do it simple, plus this keeps me motivated, and a green leafy vegetable like spinach or kale or whatever and then drench it in olive oil or prepare it as like a salad. then use apples cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and I make sure its the best quality olive oil I can find and I use alot of it. I learned the hard way how important sodium - potassium ratio is and everything else. I drink to scoops of it in water. Now, depending on how much sodium was in my food...this is why I specifically chose Dr Bergs powder because its not as high in sodium...I can add salt as needed. When you stop eating junk, all that sodium your body was used to gets depleted. It has to be replaced and brought down slowly. Or you will end up in the ER with LOW blood pressure. That happened to me. SODIUM is the most important thing. when you fast OR do keto/IF, your sodium will be depleted. I think a lot of people run into this problem and fail I mean its that simple, going shopping takes like 5 minutes.
@@imjoeimjoe Waw thanks for this info. I am Doing Keto and OMAD for 1month and a half now and I am noticing low blood pressure symptoms. Yesterday I almost fainted just because I removed my shoes. I will try to add more salt to my food and then bring it down over time

My hope and prayer is that God will bless the following message to everyone who reads it. 🫱In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth and everything in them. God created a man in His image, after His likeness and named him Adam. The LORD God commanded the man saying, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God said that it was not good for the man to be alone, so He created a woman (Eve) from one of Adam's ribs, to be his helper. The serpent (Satan - See Revelation 12:9) was in the garden and he beguiled Adam's wife. She ate from the tree and gave to her husband and he ate of the fruit, disobeying God's commandment. That day they both died spiritually and eventually, physically. Because of the fall everyone is born spiritually dead and in bondage to sin. We must be given a spiritual resurrection (born again) before we can see the Kingdom of God. - You can read all about creation and the fall of man in greater detail from the book of Genesis. God is Holy, Holy, Holy, and perfectly righteous. He is the Just Judge and so He must and will punish everyone who dies in their sins. God is good, gracious and merciful, but we are not good. We have all broken God's Law (Sin is the transgression of God's Law), many, many times. God's written Word teaches us that in our unregenerate state our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked and that we are at enmity against God. While many go after false gods and make themselves idols, Scripture tells us that no-one seeks God. Scripture tells us that there is not a just man upon earth, that does good, and does not sin and that all our righteousneses are as filthy rags. Most people compare themselves to the most wicked men who have ever lived to justify themselves, but it is foolish to compare ourselves to others, because we will all stand in front of the same Judge at the last day, who knows everything about us, even our secret thoughts (those thoughts you don't want anyone to know about) and if He does not see Christ's righteousness when He looks at you, you will be found guilty for your sins and you will be cast into the lake of fire. The Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He was born of a virgin and lived a perfectly sinless life that we do not. The Gospel is the Good News about what the Lord Jesus Christ did for His people. He suffered, bled, and died for our sins, drinking the cup of the Father's wrath in our place, and He rose from the grave on the third day for our justification. Except for those of us in Christ who are alive and remain when the Lord Jesus Christ returns, everyone is going to die, eventually. One day your soul will be required of you by your Creator. Today could be your last day on earth. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Acts 24:15 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 If you repent (Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of actions), and believe the Gospel, confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believing from your heart that God has raised Him from dead, you will be saved. My hope and prayer is that you will repent and come to the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me... I Am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst... I Am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture... I Am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?.. I Am the Light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life... Ye must be born again... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of Water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again... If ye believe not that I Am He, ye shall die in your sins... Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, And shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He shall rise again... And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God... And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day... Repent ye, and believe the Gospel...I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish... I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I Am He, ye shall die in your sins... I Am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I Am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death... I Am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty... Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I Am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." - The Lord Jesus Christ🫲

@@ruthtrimmer3803 In my opinion, brisling sardines taste best and have the best mouth-feel, but they're more expensive as a result. If the can does not say "brisling sardines" then you can safely assume that they're the bigger kind of fish (like three huge headless sardines in the can rather than a dozen tiny sardines with heads and fins attached). The bigger sardines don't taste as good, but they taste a lot stronger, and their bones are also bigger so you'll feel them when chewing. Sardines in oil are also more expensive than sardines in water, mustard, tomato sauce, etc. Avoid soybean oil or any that just say "oil" without specifying the type, because soybean and seed oils carry traces of heavy metals and seem pretty unhealthy overall. Extra virgin olive oil is probably the best tasting, and will likely only be packed with high quality brisling sardines, making it the most expensive (like over two dollars a can). The choice is really yours to make. Either go the penny pinching route of big sardines in water, or the indulgent route of brisling sardines in EVOO.

Our seas here in the Philippines are very rich in Sardines. We call them Tamban in our local language, and they're super affordable and fresh right from the fishing boats direct to the wet market costing around $1 per Kilogram when it is the new moon and around $2 when there is the moon. The irony is that Tamban or Sardines are now branded as the poor man's fish because of its availability and affordability and elite people and restaurants don't even bother to buy this fish because they would prefer Tunas.

I'm a big fish eater. I eat wild-caught salmon, but my favorite fatty fish is Sablefish. It's caught off the coast of Alaska. It's not sold in stores. Perhaps a fish specialty store. I buy online. While it may be pricey and not widely available, it's worth the effort to enjoy its unique qualities. On the other hand, sardines have become your go-to lunch choice, and you appreciate their affordability along with their taste. Keep enjoying your fish-filled meals and reaping the benefits of their nutritional value!
I started today, and some friends will be joining tomorrow! But I added some butter and sauté them because I wanted to change a little bit the flavor 😂 I’m surprised because today I ate twice, just sardines, water, black coffee and butter, I feel so good and no hunger at all! I’ll check my glucose and ketones tomorrow morning to see!! So excited and grateful with this channel!! 🎉
So... I’ve never tried Sardines. Been keto for 3 months, lost 36 lbs so far! Today I bought some after seeing this video, they were packed in tomato sauce. I was frightened, just the thought was killing me.. lol. I opened the can, and they smelled like tuna, which I love. I then closed my eyes, plunged in a fork, had a bite and LOVED THEM!!!! And they really DO make you feel kind of giddy. I can now add them to my food list, and do this fast!! Thank you!!!
I'm on day 2. Someone just gave me a little of their homemade kimchi and I put just about a tablespoon on my sardines. Loved it! Someone warned me it can cause a histamine problem for some people.
Day one yesterday ate half a tin in the morning, no hunger the rest of the day. Today still no hunger in the a.m. but a sudden spike of hunger in the afternoon after a 2-hour walk, but I powered through it, so day 2 ended up being a water fast. No ketosis until evening of day 2 when it suddenly shot up to 1.4 all at once. Just as I was starting to ruminate on grabbing some fast food. Glad I powered through it. Here's to tomorrow, let's see what day 3 brings. Thank you Dr. Boz, I appreciate you. Edit: day 3, ketones at 4.0, food cravings faded into background hum, feels good.
Great job on your sardine fast! Powering through hunger and seeing ketones rise is a positive sign. Keep up the good work and stay focused on your goals.
Very inspiring, your videos!! Thank you!! Try: Moroccan sardine cans, they come in yellow or green, in red hot pepper and oil. Add 3-4 cherry tomatoes too, cut is 8 quarters each. cut one avocado to small cubes/slices, mix with the whole. Crush gently. Add lemon juice. You can eat with either pitta bread, used in small portions as a spooning tool, or with lettuce, also sued as a spooning tool. It does take some practice, but when you do it one or twice, you can see how good and extremely beneficial it is !
Day 1 of Sardine fast, checked the ratio and it is 16👏👏!! Thank you Dr. Boz!! Checking the Sugar and ketones has been really helpful as I am not just doing the random thing and thinking that it is helping me!!
My modification, which worked, was mix can of sardines with can of salmon and one avocado. That’s all for each day. I now way same weight as when I was a teenager, over 30 years ago. Never was I hungry and only in disbelief. So now I start on Monday and end this on Friday every week eating whatever I want on weekend…the small weight gain on weekend is always corrected Monday through Thursday.
I have always loved sardines and usually have 3 cans in the pantry. Did my first 3 day sardine challenge and LOVED it! I feel amazing, no burping up fishy taste (my biggest fear!) and NOT hungry and NO cravings. I mixed 2 cans sardines w 1 can of anchovies; holy hell, my new fav meal❤️❤️🔥😎. Gonna eat them everyday til I can’t anymore.
That's wonderful to hear! Your experience with the 3-day sardine challenge sounds fantastic. It's great that you enjoyed the meal and didn't experience any unpleasant aftertaste. Keep enjoying your newfound favorite meal and savor the benefits!
In setting up for a 72 hour sardine challenge, I tried a sardine meal just to gauge if I could do it. Not only was it delicious, but it gave me the weirdest sense of happiness and joy. Mild sensation but definitely noticeable. I realize this is anecdotal and probably psychological, but it was a happy rush. I'm definitely doing the 72 hour challenge but, even afterwards, cans of sardines will no longer gather dust in my pantry.
I love sardines !❤ There’s a plethora of choices to choose from out there, but I started with a less expensive brand for my buck, (Chicken of the Sea), Wild Caught in water. I was amazed at how delicious these tasted!
I am in Day 2 of sardine fast and blown away at the satiety and results. I was scared of hating sardines, but decided to bite the bullet since I was back to IF. I have been off the keto wagon for 9 Mos and battling menopause. I am down 7.2 lbs and 19 fasting BS points and ketones are up 1.0. The portability of sardines is amazing. I can keep them anywhere to have a quick meal that not only has low to positive impact on glycemic index and has me off and running with little meal prep. Win/win!! Mood, skin improvements already notable. Looking forward to sleep quality to be improved. Ratio at 91 after 6 days back to IF & carnivore + sardine fast. Driving it down!! Thank you Dr Boz!!
Thanks for all. I watch on RUclips. Great help. I love sardines - have one can per day. I did not know they have all those benefits. I want to try the sardines only, maybe do one day and work up to 72 hours. I wish I had known these facts you give years ago. I was a sugar eating nut. I am now on fasting from 2 pm until 6/7 am - no sugar - and no hunger between meals.
I had canned sardine after a long time yesterday and now I hear it here. I actually said to my friend when she visited that I am concerned about the mercury but I will pray over it. Now I hear that it's okay because it's small. Thanks and most of all thanks to God. By the way my breath didn't smell after I gave my teeth a good brushing.
I'm glad you enjoyed canned sardines, Sunita! While it's good to be mindful of mercury in seafood, sardines are generally considered safe due to their small size. It's great that you took care of your oral hygiene, as that can help prevent any lingering breath odor. Enjoy your sardines and prayers!
I tried the sardine fast this year. I haven't had sardines in many years and it tasted great!...on the 1st day🤤 2nd day, the sardines started to get "old", after eating them over and over when I felt the "munchee's" coming. It was tough getting through the 2nd day, let me tell ya!😮 3rd day was the WORST of all, when I just wanted to stop all together! They tasted SO BAD😂 2nd day, I decided to pan fry them in butter, which helped. 3rd day, even butter didn't help, but I got through them. ONLY draw back I saw was the "need" to eat something else after the 72 hours. THAT means self control to NOT over eat things, such as carbs, fat, sugary stuff. This challenge is good ONLY IF you have self control AFTER the 72 hours and ONLY you can find the will to get past the 2nd day "crash". I don't know if I can handle another challenge, knowing what I know now and what I went through the 1st time😂
I LOVE fish but was always afraid of sardines because they still have the bones. I decided to at least give them a try and I'm so glad I did! They're delicious!!
I'm happy you mentioned sardines have ketones in them....as I cook my morning eggs with cold pressed coconut oil as I know the saturated fat is digested in the liver then the ketones go to my brain and I'm sure they also help with my "partial complex" issue tho I have a VNS in my chest now for over 20 years.
I ❤ sardines! I also do keto-- my brother is a healrh freak and loves sardines as well! I need to kickstart back into keto after a bad nonth of being lazy plus, i work nights--so...im looking forward to kickstarting keto with sardines. Thanks for a great video!!!
Just finished my 72-hr sardine fast and ketones hit 2.1, which is the highest I’ve ever had! Glucose was 66. Can’t wait to see the numbers tomorrow morning. Thanks Dr. Boz!
Started Friday morning 8/30. I’ll report on Monday at the results, after 72 hours. Hallucinations of ice cream and black licorice immediately, but surprisingly no convulsions yet! Week earlier , 8/23 had sardines at lunch. Did 30 sprints that morning. After lunch had hour nap. Did another 30 after nap. Then did 40 that night after regular dinner. So was a day of record day of 100 sprints. Thought of doing more but 100 was enough. Age 69, went to sleep at 12:30 am. on 8/24. Wide awake at 2:30 am. I wondered sardines? Hmmm. Yesterday , 30 sprints in morning , record 42 last nite. 100 yarders. Now 4 hours sleep , wide awake. Energy to burn it seems. Another 30 sprints in 3 hours. Like I told the wife, I don’t eat at Paula Deans, I eat at Sar Dines! We chuckled. Btw, I don’t have a MD., I don’t even know one. See a chiro once a month for adjustment. Started 8/30 at 177.0 lbs. 12th grade weight was 185 in 1972.
Ok wow you have my attention!! I’m taking this challenge ! Nit a fan of sardines but I feel inspired to give it a go. I’m sure by the 3rd or 4th can I may be able to acclimate to the taste. I’ve eaten a raw meat diet for a 6 week period . If I can do that , surely I can eat sardines! Thank ti so very much. I’m a believer in fasting (water) and my current doctor doesn’t want me fasting and I’m on Prozac and that prescribing doctor cautioned against fasting which really bummed me out. So this has come to me (sardine fasting) how perfect 👍🏼 The universe always has my back ❤

I loved this! I had been doing regular fasting but I liked this eating protein. And, I liked eating the protein since I don’t want to lose muscle mass.
On Day 2 of the sardine fast to kickoff my carnivore journey. My dad was a Sports Medicine MD and ate sardines regularly, now I know why. One more day to figure out the next part of the daily journey though I do plan on eating sardines with my first meal of the day each day for now. Thanks for sharing.
Hey good afternoon Doc! I thought of you a couple days ago when I failed to bring food out to my family farm, so I got to shop at the local Dollar store out in the country and loaded up on a pile of sardines which tasted amazing on the back forty haha🎉🎉
It used to be the food of poor farmers in my grandparents' time. Now ''European Union Policy'' has drastically reduced fishing areas in the last few decades. Thank you and greetings to everyone from Portugal.
For the 1st time ever in my life, I ate a can of sardines... I did add 1 tsp each of hot sauce and mustard, and that was the ticket!!! Thanks for the tip!!!!
Are you kidding me? Oh my goodness, Sardines are absolutely delicious and pack a massive nutritional punch. What is there not to like about canned Sardines? I will do a whole week challenge, no problem. Canned Sardines in oil! 😋
I started back fasting and have been using sardines to up my nutrition and protein when I'm not. I'm surprised that this is actually a thing. My intuition is on point.
Doc... might be your best vid. Concise with crisp graphics reinforcing the very important benefits of eating sardines in general. Love this one. More like this please 🙏😉
Just did our 1st Sardine fast. 4 1/2 days. Days 2 & 3 had identical blood glucose of 74 and Keytones 2.9! Bless you Dr Boz! It was easy. Just follow Dr Boz’s instructions.
I'm on my second sardine challenge, the first being several months ago. I'm thinking about incorporating sardine days every week for awhile. It's SO nice to NOT have to spend hours on Sunday prepping food for the work week! During the day I eat them right out of the can, then for dinner I fry them in a black iron skillet. I was wondering about the bag of smelt in my freezer, so I looked them up. I was amazed at how superior sardine are with vitamins and minerals over the smelt! Regardless, I think I'll fry up my bag of smelt this weekend since I know my husband will eat them.
Thank you, Dr! I'm going to try. I started mid morning and I didn't feel hungry after eating only one can. I did eat another can of them in the evening. I will say, that I am likely to be adding onions, peppers and seasonings. I loved them as a child, but it's been quite a many years.😂😂😂😂. Plus, I ate them with crackers back then!😅
I eat a lot of sardines. Once I found out they are low in mercury, as compared to other fish like Tuna, I have gone to town on eating these. It helps to be hungry when you open a can of sardines. I use all of the different kinds. Oil, water, and mustard are the kinds I eat. I eat pickled herring as well. I rarely eat tuna anymore, especially since I found out how high their mercury levels are. I eat sardine salad sandwiches. Season Brand sardines are the top brand of sardines in my opinion. They are a little more expensive, but still VERY reasonably priced. I take a tine of Season sardines, fork them to a bowel, add miracle whip, about 6-10 green olives, garlic powder, onion powder or any other kind of powered spice you like. Then I smash then very good, making sure to bust up the green olives into small pieces. This is BETTER than tuna salad in my opinion. I can tell a big difference when I eat a lot of sardines in a day. My knee replacement inflammation goes down. I have better functional performance out of my artificial knee when I eat sardines. Remember Season brand, a product of Morrocco. I eat the other cheaper brands as well. But if I want to make a sardine salad, Season is what I use. I eat flatbread with that salad. If I can not find crispbread, I eat Matzo's as well. I actually have come to really enjoy Matzo's Kosher bread.
I trust your your videos, knowledge and recommendations. I happed to see one of your videos years ago then bought "Any Way You Cal" and it inspired me to be one of your greatest patrons, BUT !, The sardine challenge has me backed up against a wall of though, though, I'm going to tackle it with all my effort. This will be one of the greatest challenges I will tackle.
True. Back when I was interested in CRON (calorie restriction optimum nutrition), sardines kept coming up as incredibly nutritious for their size and calories.
hm...this video is a pure blessing for me ❤ 🙏 I intuitively thought about eating only sardines, but for a day or two. Just felt so, without any knowledge. Now I know, thanks to Dr.Boz, and on Monday,02.09.2024 I'll JUST DO IT! Thank you, Dr. Boz, and may God bless you 🙏❤

Hello . My understanding of eggs are... Yokes raw to soft cooked . Whites need to be fully cooked.. Which gives you a full benefit of the eggs So glad I love . Over easy . 3 min boiled eggs Keep pushing forward
@@johnlent6906 on the three minute eggs would you please explain? Do you boil 3 minutes? By putting the eggs in cold, warm or boiling water? I’ve only made hard boiled eggs for salads. Thank you in advance for your comment and sharing with me. You may laugh at how I’ve been cooking: I separate the whites and yoke then cook the whites in my favorite butter. Once they are to my liking I place the yoke in pan for a brief second or two.
@@karenhunt-cook2192 search for "perfect soft boiled eggs" and you'll be in good hands. Really hard to screw it up if you follow it exactly. And just like the title says... they will be perfect.
@@karenhunt-cook2192When I cook boiled eggs, I time it for 2 minutes once the water starts boiling. After that I let it sit for 2 minutes in the hot water. Then I let the egg sit in the cold water for about 5 minutes or sometimes more. For a medium size egg, I always get a slightly moist boiled egg. I don’t like when the yolk is too dry. Soft or Runny yolks are good for nutrition too.
Interesting info Dr. Boz, thanks for sharing. I eat sardines and mackerel fish from the pouch packs. I still lift weights and walk uphill for 45 minutes. Let's go Dr. Boz!
I didn't know 'dines and mackerel came in pouch packs. Here where I live in the smack dab middle of the US, right in the very "middlest" middle of the Midwest, our regular grocery stores might, might not, carry things like that. I've only just begun to eat sardines, and haven't yet tried mackerel, though I have several cans of each in the pantry. I'll have to look in Walmart and Aldi, see what they carry.
I just finished the challenge, I lost 5 pounds in 3 days, went from 177 to 172 lbs, I ate 1 can for breakfast lunch and dinner alone with treadmill at least 200 calories burned and sauna. Very good results, I will add a fried egg for dinner, my goal is 165 lbs, at this pace I will get there in no time. 👍🏿
I did a 3-day sardine fast last weekend and LOVED it!!! No cooking! I get much more time to enjoy the weekend this way! AND, I know what I'll be eating at work on Monday. What a great "minimalist" approach to eating. Thank you for the idea about air frying the sardines; I never would have thought of that. It's a new weekend and I'm eating my air fryer sardines even as we speak, air fryer sardines sprinkled in pepper, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and some Hawaiian black salt. SO good. I learned a little detail: do the sardine fast for 72 hours, and at hour 72 eat another can of sardines. Fascinating. By the way, I went all out and ordered a brand of sardines off Amazon, the Nuri brand -- a lot more expensive than the other brands. I wanted to see if they were worth it. I think so. I'm also adding mackerel, one can a day of Nuri brand, to the schedule. It's so good. Keto 100% since July 2017. I hit a plateau where I didn't lose a thing, didn't gain a thing, for years, and then recently I've been gaining an inch or two here and there. This Must Not Be. My plan is to keep doing the sardines every weekend, keto through the week (with one or two meals a day). I HAVE managed to quit all sweetening since last weekend. A few years back I grew and dried my own stevia leaves. I've pulled that jar out front on the shelf now. If something just has to taste sweet, I'll use that.
That's fantastic to hear! Your experience with the 3-day sardine fast and the minimalist approach to eating sounds liberating and enjoyable. The air-fried sardines with pepper, lemon juice, and Hawaiian black salt sound absolutely delicious. It's interesting to learn about the 72-hour fast and the additional benefits it brings. Trying out the Nuri brand and adding mackerel to your schedule shows your dedication to quality and variety. Keep up the keto lifestyle, and quitting sweeteners is a great step forward. Best of luck on your continued health journey!
I've never eaten a sardine in my life. I buy them but cannot make myself open the can. The look, smell and slime (my husband eats them) is such a deterrent I cannot make myself do it and I want to so bad.
@@lindapotter5051 haha just gonna have to take the plunge! To me it resembles tuna quite a bit. If you can eat a can of tuna plain, then i would say mash the sardines up to the texture of tuna and maybe try it that way so it doesnt look like little fish. I sort of did that when i ate them, used my fork to break them up to a consistency similar to tuna.
Hello Dr Boz, Ive always loved sardines and happen to come across your video about this challenge. I just finished up the fast last night. I lost a total of 5lbs! Now Im making sure to only have a feeding window between 12-7pm. Im also going to do my best to reduce carbs (mediterranean style). I was already going to the gym but not eating right. Thank you so much for the research you are doing. Im really sick of being overweight. Ill be turning 50 in February and want to look, feel better with my health.
@catrinebogriffith8453 I only ate a small can of sardines whenever I felt hungry. In my case that was 2 times throughout the day. One of those days I ate 3 times.
I have always hated fish but I am in my 2nd day of a sardine fast! 3 cans yesterday (day 1) and just finished my first can on day 2. I started doing this sardine fast accompanied by prayers for someone i love to stop drinking alcohol.
brisling sardines are the smallest and the yummiest. King Oscar are pricier than others but they actually taste good. Look for two layers .That tells you how small they are.
Your dad was a wise man ahead of his time. God bless him.
Wow. Your parents were amazing. I are SAD shit and had to spend the first decade of my adult live solving all the health problems that came from it.
No sweets or junk food in our house. I did the same with my daughter. She has perfect teeth with no cavities She's very healthy and accomplished. It's been the same way for my ancestors and my grandchildren 💕🎄
How did the 72 hour fast go? Was it worth it? I've been stuck on a plateau for months now so I am thinking of trying this.
How fabulous!

Yep I just did it this week and really had nice results. 1-I’m calm 2- less inflammation 3- 2 comfortable bowel movements. 3 never was hungry or feeling stuffy. ps. Bile is a project I always work on and I’m going to eat sardines at least a few days a month. At 76 I love getting better.

How do you consider bile a 'project'?
I'm on my last day of 1 week my sardine fast. I only ate 2 cans the first day feeling really hungry but after that just 1 can a day feeling fine along with drinkingmy electrolytes. I've lost 9 1/2 lbs so far! I feel great! Thank you Dr. Boz!
Since I’m prepping for a huge economic collapse, I already have a shelf full of sardines in olive oil. I may give this a go.

That's resourceful and budget-friendly! Sardines can be a convenient and nutritious option while traveling.
Just started my first 72 hr sardine fast. I mixed 2 sardine cans, 1 egg, White Magic seasoning, Redmonds real salt, Sure Shot Sids seasoning, 1 tbsp nutritional yeast, and ground pork rinds. It made 4 patties which i cooked cooked in Kerry gold butter and olive oil. Tastes so good.
Omg, Yum!!!🤗

Did your ketones improve?
@@nancycy9039 I only did it this way once. The first of the fast as I wasn't sure if I would like sardines. I didn't do this the whole fast and actually did them by themselves after and with mustard which is Dr. Boz approved by the way. And yes my ketones did improve as did my blood sugar. I even dropped 5 pounds. I mainly eat a carnivore diet. Sometimes it's more ketovore.
Good information. I like the term "sprats" and that's what I am going to call them from now on. 😉
This is false, sprats are sprats (sprattus) and sardines are called Sardinen in german (Sardina pilchardus).
What just came to my mind- Germans also call sprats "Sardelle". So you probably mistaking Sardelle for Sardines (=
General Irwin Rommel thrived on sardines during WW2
I did the sardine fast last week and loved it. Not totally all sardines, about 90%. Found the oil a bit hard to digest. Took TUDCA which helped. The third day was the best day. Lost 2.3kg.
Mix sardines with eggs, sour cream, and a little salt and pepper. It’s really just the traditional type tuna salad but with sour cream instead of mayo, and sardines. Its a great snack and I would recommend mixing in the eggs scrambled instead of boiled; changes texture for the better. 👍❤️
Please don't tell people to dairy products. It's a common allergen and bad for weight loss.
I use a high fat yogurt, over 10% fat for everything. I will never go back to sour cream.

Sounds fantastic. I was strict keto for a year in 2017. Lost 60 pounds that way. Nowadays I'm on two meals a day and regularly eat a can of sardines as a supplement. Marvelous food.
Congratulations on your success!

I cannot thank you Dr Bosworth enough for giving me the perfect kick start plan, helping save my life, and everything else that you do ! Also: I would be happy to comment in the future to tell you my progress if anyone has any questions feel free !

@@jeanrobertplante Yes I know ! That was my whole point, is that despite that, in 2 months, it went from 12 to 7.5. Meaning that it should have still been higher I imagine..
Im not a cook so I do it simple, plus this keeps me motivated,
and a green leafy vegetable like spinach or kale or whatever and then drench it in olive oil or prepare it as like a salad. then use apples cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and I make sure its the best quality olive oil I can find and I use alot of it.
I will try to add more salt to my food and then bring it down over time
@@FleurLune yes the importance of electrolytes during this can't be overstated. Also if you had high blood pressure, THAT might be coming down so adjustments might have to be made.

MERCURY POISONED 🤢
SARDINES ARE JAM PACKED WITH THE DEADLY HEAVY METAL.
Revelation 20:15
If you repent (Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of actions), and believe the Gospel, confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believing from your heart that God has raised Him from dead, you will be saved.

Hi, does it matter if the sardines are in tomato sauce, brine or oil? Or which type of sardines?
How long is your once a month sardine commitment?

That's quite the oxymoron..."holy hell."

Are you a fish lover though? Also, were they smoked? Did they have skin?

I choked down one can of sardines loaded with mustard. It was the only way I could do it. I wish I could like them.
put lemon on them, it takes the edge off
I hear ya! Just can’t stand them. Dip them in dark chocolate?
Sauteed in butter!
I think I'm going to have to do that too. I can eat clams, oysters and shrimp raw but I have never been a sushi fan.
What’s wrong with ppl it’s fishhhhh you don’t have chock on it , do u eat potato chips or did you drink used to drink wine so that’s poison
I’m getting ready to try my first sardine right now….idk I’m trying to build up the courage
@@chuck5553 So... what's the verdict?
@@cerebus210 it was better than I thought it would be….still going to take awhile to get use to them.
I haven't had sardines in many years and it tasted great!...on the 1st day🤤
2nd day, the sardines started to get "old", after eating them over and over when I felt the "munchee's" coming.
It was tough getting through the 2nd day, let me tell ya!😮
3rd day was the WORST of all, when I just wanted to stop all together! They tasted SO BAD😂
2nd day, I decided to pan fry them in butter, which helped.
I like the idea ✅✅✅ it could really kickstart my weight loss 😅😅😅✅
I ❤ sardines! I also do keto-- my brother is a healrh freak and loves sardines as well! I need to kickstart back into keto after a bad nonth of being lazy plus, i work nights--so...im looking forward to kickstarting keto with sardines. Thanks for a great video!!!
You’re the BEST medical cheerleader of this healing Sardine Fast!! Doing another one soon. Hope my daughter will partner up with me.
Just finished my 72-hr sardine fast and ketones hit 2.1, which is the highest I’ve ever had! Glucose was 66. Can’t wait to see the numbers tomorrow morning. Thanks Dr. Boz!
Can I ask the brand of sardines you like best?
So this has come to me (sardine fasting) how perfect 👍🏼

Thanks, Dr Boz! You are changing lives!! ❤❤❤ I’m starting a 3 day sardine fast today!
Sardines has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid! Now I am 71 and still love and eat them!!
Thank you and greetings to everyone from Portugal.
sardine pate on cucumber strips...sardines, mayo, lemon juice, pepper, smoked paprika, oregano, mash and mix together.
Yes!! Agree with you!!!
I have loved eating Sardines 64 years of my life and finding the Carnivore Life has even turned back my age clock...
Thankyou,Dr Boz & Barbara O'Neil & ALL the Other TRUTH TELLERS!!... :)
True. Back when I was interested in CRON (calorie restriction optimum nutrition), sardines kept coming up as incredibly nutritious for their size and calories.
Every now and then, I love a good binge on sardines for a couple of days; now I know why! Thanks doc!!
I eat sardines daily so I’m doing something right 👍great video.
hm...this video is a pure blessing for me ❤ 🙏 I intuitively thought about eating only sardines, but for a day or two.

Which gives you a full benefit of the eggs
So glad I love . Over easy . 3 min boiled eggs
Keep pushing forward
@@johnlent6906 on the three minute eggs would you please explain?
Do you boil 3 minutes? By putting the eggs in cold, warm or boiling water? I’ve only made hard boiled eggs for salads.
Thank you in advance for your comment and sharing with me.
You may laugh at how I’ve been cooking: I separate the whites and yoke then cook the whites in my favorite butter. Once they are to my liking I place the yoke in pan for a brief second or two.
@@karenhunt-cook2192 do you beat the whites for fluffiness? Interesting idea.
To me, sardine fast is never a challenge, it's always a highly enjoyable experience for me.
@@jb6712 Sardines and mackerel come in pouch and can at a store chain here in Michigan called Meijer
I eat sardines with white rice and kimchee. I cook the sardines and add ginger and soy sauce. A great lunch. I am also a fan of sauerkraut.
How long did you cook them in the air fryer and on what temp?
Just had my first sardines at 44 years old. Not too bad. Slimy texture, but good flavor. Was like eating slimy tuna. I could live with it.
What some people call food...I call cat food. Giblets is another kind of cat food.
@@markanthony3275 have to agree. Ive tried them a few more times since and they are just too rank to eat. A gave it a solid try though.

Thank you so much for the research you are doing. Im really sick of being overweight. Ill be turning 50 in February and want to look, feel better with my health.
Hi, I need to understand. So you did a 72 fast along with the sardines? How many times per day did you it the sardines, at what time and how much? Thx
@catrinebogriffith8453 I only ate a small can of sardines whenever I felt hungry. In my case that was 2 times throughout the day. One of those days I ate 3 times.
5lbs is amazing! I just turned 50 end of December.
I have always hated fish but I am in my 2nd day of a sardine fast! 3 cans yesterday (day 1) and just finished my first can on day 2. I started doing this sardine fast accompanied by prayers for someone i love to stop drinking alcohol.
No offence intended, but they'll be praying for you to stop eating sardines.
brisling sardines are the smallest and the yummiest. King Oscar are pricier than others but they actually taste good. Look for two layers .That tells you how small they are.
I like sardines a lot. As a kid my grandmother would take sardines and crackers as a snack when we would be fishing on a river bank...😅
