DWP only allows one service drop per property either to the adu or the existing house.
Awesome 👏 , hopefully I can do this soon 👍
Great Video Hektor! Thanks for the tip.
I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for the information.
Call the power company and ask them if you can do a drop. FYI your videos are awesome!!
@HektorCastillo, I appreciate you for all this information. I still need to discuss this with my wife, lol. Right now, our plan is to have power from the main house with the solar panel.
Thank you for inspiring me doing this project as a owner-builder.
Did this in mine all you need is to pay the permit for a new address witch in my case was 800 dollars in order for the power company to drop the line
I think I have to do this for my
ADU. Is your county LA county too?
Awesome!!
@@Adileneee16 yes I’m in a unincorporated area and all my paperwork and permits are from la county
The new address permit was one of the first things I have to pay when I was waiting for approval of my plans and was little over 800 dollars
All they do is the new address is going to be the same you have in your house plus a 1/2
Thank you, excellent tip. I’m waiting for the correction of the floor plans and I can start my project
Glad it was helpful!
Does anyone know if LADWP has a distance limit from the pole where the line will be dropped to the new ADU meter?
I like your videos right to the point. Now I’m converting two rooms from my home to an ADU what is best for my case regarding the metering?
What about solar. Can you share the solar credit with an independent panel?
Another great thing about their own meter is the renter can pay their own electrical bill
Many newer neighborhoods don’t have overhead lines, but are all underground. Can this same concept work if underground? Meaning, can you run a new line from the street instead of from the existing panel?
Aren't ADU suppose to be solar only? Sorry, I don't know much about electrical systems. Do still have to connect with City's electrical system even with solar? Thanks for any info.
Teruk, Hello not for garage conversion to ADU. New construction ADUs have a different set of rules to follow. Good luck with your project
Hector that's awesome info! I'm actually working with Natalie for my blue prints by your recommendation, drop the contact for this electrician please! I'll be needing him soon for my ADU
Adrian hello you will definitely have a awesome experience working with Natalie. I'll try to get the electricians info for you 👍
@@HektorCastillo yes, please share his info!
Do you have this electricians info?
I thought the power company only allowed one wire from the post for each lot.
LADWP only allows one one service line drop per parcel. Not sure what city this house is in.
Juan Hello, call your power service provider and get the correct answer directly from them. One call could save you thousands
Depends on the power company. “New” options exist now with the advent/popularity of EVs. Some power companies are allowing the dropping of more lines, for example SCE.
That's correct. I am building an ADU in norCal and the electrical company wants only side by side panel in one location with 2 meters next to each other. Not at the location ADU.
Yeah unfortunately ladwp only allows one drop per house
Hey Hektor just to be clear the spot meter is a free service right and we have to pay for the new Panel and installation? is that right?
You are correct.
Whats the electricians contact info?!
Is this property in Long Beach?
It's in SoCal. For privacy reasons I won't disclose the City 🏙️
Please be more clear to your people the meter only only meter you still have to pay to install panel and is a 200 amp panel material around 1,200.
