Update for y’all if you are watching. Engine is being swapped at the moment. Once I get the new block I’ll do some data logs and make some more videos. Try and gap some foos.
MrChips005 I blew it up lol. I talked to admintuning and switchback racing and we believe the recirculated wastegate created to much pressure in the downpipe. Almost like a wall and caused the turbo to boost spike 28 psi. Pretty sure I lifted a head. But swapping the engine and going external wastegate.
@@ShayHarambe yeah 28 way too much. but you stated put the wastegate external will address the internal pressure issue. i think 12-15 psi is the most i could conceive of using haha. Anyway, love that pull you make at the beginning. Have you seen fastlanedoug's boosted 370z?
I’m looking to turbo my z also and I’m trying to figure out which kit to get. I’m in-between the boosted performance kit or the soho Motorsports kit. The only problem I am having is I am located in Florida and I don’t know who can install it. I see you’re getting tuned by admin tuning and I was looking to do the same. I’m doing n/a mods for now just like full exhaust intakes oil cooler and tune from admin tuning but I’m not as educated on turbo kits like you are.
Gamesta Gamesta switchback racing isn’t in Florida. To me I didn’t like the idea of having a turbo under the car. Plus I’ve read that twin scrolls don’t work as efficiently when the runners are different lengths. Those 2 things persuaded me out of getting the bp kit. Then soho honestly I just never looked at. I didn’t like how you have like a 2inch pipe and it expands to a 2.5 inch in the engine bay. I thought it looked wack. Dumb reason yeah but idk didn’t like it. With the switchback kit it’s 3inch charge piping all around. It’s a single scroll so don’t need equal length runners as well. It took me personally 6 months to decide which one I was gonna do. Do your research and carefully decide cause it ain’t cheap for sure.
The Aero Dynamics are so advanced. It really doesn't even have to be a NISMO version because of the shape of the car. A GT-R went over 200 mph on the Autobahn without a wing like hot butter knife on a roll. The 370Z is also the same without the GT-R motor. But it would dominate Porsche with that engine....
I’d go through the entire bottom end. Make it stout with forged pistons & rods while the motors out & save from having to do it again, pay more labor and time, and end up at the same place in the long run. Been there before. Either way good luck with the fix.
I am debating whether I should stay N/A, go supercharged or turbo. My main concern is reliability. I'm hard on my Z but I don't do stupid things such as burnouts or rev limiter attack. I do not want to get into race gas or E85 either. I like to have a reliable car that I can go through gears at max rpm. I like my car but it takes too much time to go through gears and it takes forever to accelerate in the higher rpms in 5th gear. Would you say a reasonably boosted stock block VQ37VHR is reliable or not that much?
I know a lot of people running only 9 lbs for years on pump gas. Making around the mid 500s. They have had no problems. But also taking a na car and adding boost is hard on it
Looking to get a 370 by next summer, in the future id be wanting to go forced induction. I was looking at a 450whp set up on a supercharger because it will be my daily driver, how would a turbo vq37vhr compare to a supercharged one in terms of reliability and cost?
From my knowledge superchargers have come a long way and are amazing. Especially with the air to air kit. They make turbo numbers. If I had to do it again I would have supercharged it. Much easier install. Cheaper. Reliability im not for sure.
Very nice. You're definately around 700whp with a Walbro 450 and 1300cc injectors... you definately should look at bigger rears... maybe 325 r888s or straight radials with welds

@@ShayHarambe yeah thats a good look. Expensive... but good. Well if you wanted non-radial. Forgestar has sorta cheap custom wheels where you can go 18x12 or 19x12 with any offset. Personally im saving for some AG Wheels in those sizes.

Fit then directly. I also wondered about that when I mounted them should I put the camber to basically zero and I emailed around and everyone said leave it at stock camber and toe settings.
Uhh well there is a proper way and a other way. Proper take the dash out. That’s too much work for me. So what I did was took the hoods off then basically picked at the stock gauges with some need nose pliers till I got all the gauge material out. Ran the wires from the engine bay ecu wire harness spot behind the battery up into the stock gauge location. Then I took the stock gauge plastic and filed them down to fit the new gauges and wrapped them with a zip tie to hold it. Then took a long metal strip and cut it into 3 pieces and drilled a hole in it. Put a one of those metal pieces on it you can thread a screw into. I forget what they are called then drilled a hole through the stock plastic bracket and created a tightening set up. So put the metal piece in the hole in the dash where the gauge was put the screw through the stock bracket then screwed it into the metal bracket and got it tight so the gauge wouldn’t move. Then put some double sided tape on the hood and put it on. It was a long process but it worked and looks good :)
