Nice insight in to the life of an Ocado driver. I’m an Asda delivery driver and it seems to be fairly similar. Vans are broken, good and bad days, huge loads and smaller loads. But I enjoy being outside by myself.
Fellow Ocado driver here! Completely agree with you, bad days are really bad. I’ve had 30 drops in Camden, majority top floor flats with stairs. Luckily I only work weekends whilst I finish my studies, so it’s not as bad as doing this full-time
Bicester driver here, you pretty much nailed this. agree with you on everything pretty much. Quite easy drops for us over here, lots of countryside and lovely views and that. Percy #1
I work for iceland, so similar, and we have to load our own vans/sort it into order multiple times a day, then we have to carry them up flats etc, just makes it so much harder so at least ocado load your vans for you mate and its all one run😅
currently work as a frameloader in despatch 10 hour night shifts at the site in Dordon, looking to move over to delivery driving. yes it seems to have it its issues.. but does seem better than what i do 🤷♂️
I dont understand that if you move the boxes out of their original positions to put empty ones in there place you know where they are further into your shift, So say it was in F4 when it was loaded youve moved it somewhere else.
When i worked at ocado i started without lightfoot. It got introduced a few months later which we called it "Your Wife" basically pain in the ass. I had the worst rating for lightfoot and never got told off. also them cameras, staff can login to them and watch you so thats not great. The danny and DataLoggers are a peice of crap also
I used to work ocado hatfield herts loved the job but I always ended up in bloody central London . Ocado hatfield have moved to Luton now. What branch do you work out of
Saying they moved to Luton isn’t really true.. They closed their original CFC that was terribly inefficient and 20yr behind what they offer as a product to others. Luton isn’t a 1:1 replacement. London is not served from Luton’s CFC, it would be one of the many London Spokes/CFCs. 😂
@@StevegamesYThi mate. You may already know by now but purfleet cover all of essex. Sometimes you will be sent all the way to ipswich or felixstowe. Also cover the majority of east london. East central is the worst area. We sometimes you might have jobs in north london also
It really depends on my tour it was about an hour, honestly I didn’t take the job as the hours was shift work, so for my first 3 weeks my pattern was 7am to 3pm for 2 weeks Then 4pm to 12 midnight
Ocado driver from Liverpool. Completely agree with you. Some days are good, some are worse. But its fun exploring the countryside and driving.
Yeah it’s a great job overall
I love it, moved from London to Birmingham and based in Tamworth. I actually prefer the 4pm to midnight shifts
They are all decent shifts, enjoy!

Sounds like we are at the same site, nice!
@@TomSimonssAha yes, I actually remember being sent to the MK branch in that same exact van lol. Would be nice to run into you sometime!

Haha hope you enjoyed
Much Appreciated from the Grid God for Ocado.

Good stuff bro! you are on the grind 💪
Thank you 🤝
Omg you jammy sod haha! I keep hoping to get the Percy Pig van.

It’s not a bad job at all
Just applied for driver at ocado. Waiting for the checks to come back and hopefully go from there. You're video was very helpful and informative.
Good luck!
Me to! I've done all check they ask me to etc now just waiting to hear back
Same just applied aswell also are you able to vape in the van or no
@trikstart3014 no smoking
@trikstart3014 I've started now all out on my own etc, and no your not allowed to vape

That’s why you don’t move it. All I do is swap it from the back into the front so i haven’t gotta move the front one out to get it

Yeah isn’t the best system
@@TomSimonss just as i left, they changed to the new smart platform. so 1F would be A1F then 2B would be B1B
@pengimaxrbx2469 yeah they are still trying to launch that I’m not looking foward to it
Love it tom please do another one 😊
Thank you I will!

Luton seems to do north London. Camden Wembley for the most part. We don’t go much closer to the central than that
@@TomSimonss I still think we’d be using capacity from Purfleet to do Camden.. not Luton 🤔
Enjoyed the video i have my site tour next Thursday. Do you get to know your shifts a month before and is it always a 40 hour week?
You get your shifts very far in advance!
@TomSimonss I've got My site tour at 8.50 tommorow and my MOT is at 12 PM. Will the site tour take over 2 hours?
Did u get the job@@harrisonpriest8441
@@harrisonpriest8441how did it go?
They send you out to different cities ? What depot do you work from?
Yeah all the depot’s send you out all over the country
Are you allowed to listen to music and connect your phone to the van
Can listen to radio but can’t connect your phone
do you load the vans in the morning bro?
No sorry should’ve said. It’s all loaded for you
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you :)
But if u finish early you get paid less?
Paid for the full shift
Hi mate got an interview tomorrow, just wondering how the driver assessment is etc
Pretty easy, basic reversing etc. good luck!
@@TomSimonss thanks brilliant. Also in the actual interview itself how did you find it?
@Luke_u1 it’s more of a group session
@@TomSimonss alright great thanks for your help hopefully it goes well tomorrow
Have you ever crashed or scraped your van?
Never
Ive applied for ocado but working out of Purfleet, hopefully they dont go into central london
Central London is Park Royal I believe
@TomSimonss ahh do you know where the Purfleet depot deliver
