I like it being random, the story takes longer to finish and it would be a surprise each time
@@lilah5273 and actually not stressfull. After playing RF4, i get some kind of anxiety when i missed events that's not triggerered by level of friendship but have a set date and time. Like, if you miss it, you miss it forever.. even knowing that you haven't got all the event in RF4, because it's random, it never bothers me and i never really dwell on events whether big or small
I loved Rune Factory 4. What's really putting me off though is how barren some of the areas look. I'm by no means a graphic snob, I play SUCH a variety of games. But this isn't even a stylistic choice, it's just.. actually outdated graphics. Which is disappointing after 10 years.
Same here , I'm still on the fence but the graphics look so cheap considering the game is going to cost $80 I don't know.
@@aleesha5579 Yeah I'm feeling the same way. If you compare it to Tides Of Destiny the graphic quality looks SO similar, and there's an 11 year gap lol.
I think I'll get it, but I'm definitely going to wait for a sale. There should be one since it isn't a direct Nintendo title.

Frontier and Tides of destiny look better than RF 5. Every single reviews I have seen today treat 5 like is the very first 3D game in the series, like what the hell?
@@raulrojas9253 I actually mentioned that in another comment. The last one I played was Tides of Destiny and it DOES look better. There's more detail too, and it's 11 years old. This isn't an artistic choice in graphics or design, it actually looks like it belongs on the PS3.
Is the crafting system really the same as in Rune Factory 4? There was some amazing depth to the system in that game, with hidden effects and bonuses and inheritance and all kinds of crap. It really wasn't easy to properly master it. One of my biggest fears for RF5 was that they would streamline it to be more simplistic.
It's pretty much the same as 4.
Yuuup, first thing I spotted on-screen was Ludmila and quite a lot of her in fact - Wasn't disappointed by what I found😌💖
Honestly glad that you're wholeheartedly enjoying RF5!! After I've heard many people comparing it to RF4 and being ultimately disappointed by it, I was pretty worried about how this game would be perceived in the West. You're seriously giving me hope and make me believe that I'm not just a crazy fan... then again, maybe we just both are lol 🤔😝

Thank you so much for making this review! I have been playing these games since the very 1st one. And I definitely agree that I like the 3-D games a little bit better just the feel of them. Oceans and frontier were probably in my top three favorites.
I was a little hesitant about the graphics and some of the performance issues but it looks like they can be overlooked.

I played 1 and 2 as a kid with the walkthroughs and loved it. I picked this one up and it’s a nostalgic trip of joy. I normally play darker stuff like smt but this game made me so happy
finding out that ludmila is unlocked so late makes me sadder than the performance issues, haha.

Awww there are no more farming spaces in the dungeons? A little sad because that’s one of the reasons y returned to the dungeons, but I understand why it’s not there because they could be a hassle.
Hope the lance is as fun to play as in 4. I liked it to much when I could launch myself with it

Been waiting on this review. Such a late embargo did not inspire confidence, and I guessed that it was due to performance issues. But I'm glad to hear that the game is great and I can't wait for my copy to arrive.
Yeah the embargo from what I could tell was them trying to get as many bug fixes out before the game launched. I can't tell if it's fully caught up to the JP version but I can say that it's not performing nearly as bad as when I got it in January

Hahaha I love the "I'm much of a simp for Ludmilla" 🤣 I had the same pop in happen too mostly on the farm. Not sure why this happened but maybe it's cause they had to massively upgrade from the older games. But honestly, I did not care one bit. Did not put the game down and refuse to stop playing anytime soon 🤫 excellent review!!

This was by far the best review I've seen for this game
I had a few problems getting into the game at first (mostly because of the lag and me not reading most of the given tutorials) but man RF5 is so fun
If it weren't for the technical issues it would probably be a strong 9/10
Then again, what's Rune factory without a few technical issues?

Im loving the farm dragons and chacters. My pet hate is the inability to put the stations right next to eachother.

Great video! I agree, the only actual complaint I have for this game is the performance. I really hope it'll come to PC eventually so it won't be limited by hardware limitations! I guess my minor complaint would be WHY CAN'T I MARRY SIMONE!? Once again, the best girl is locked by an absentee husband 😢
Also, I don't swing that way either, but I can't deny my sense of bromance with Murakumo! Now, if only he would stay in his inn when I actually need my foxbro 😂
Overall, I liked RF4 better since I liked the story and performance better, but I like the characters in 5 better. The performance is suffering but it's still a fun game.

Just started playing the game. I find it relaxing that the game time doesn't run too fast for my liking. I just don't know what to prioritize doing? I plant everyday but i feel like i don't know what else to do in a consistent basis. Too overwhelmed at this point. I just do random things and i know i'm not maximizing my day because of this.
i was hoping they patch for playing together with friends.. but it was kinda impossible for now 😂

I'm sad that the city dungeon didn't get expanded upon aside from housing a massive Kingdom Hearts reference that made me go: Ok, who gave Nomura the script?
I ended up calling the dungeon the Lands of Morytha. (If you know the reference, you know)
Will this get on Steam ? The limitations of the Switch will likely see performance suffer, a pc on the other hand should handle the demands of the game just fine ?
It's not cuz of the switche's hardware. The game is just not 100% optimized. There are great looking games on the switch that runs a lot smoother then this.
It is because of the hardware, more to games than graphics alone.
@@msarilyn7677 When it comes to graphics, sure hardware matters. But this is about optimizing a game for the hardware. It gotta the be coding and other technical issues that was limited due to time or budget. There are a lot of great looking game on the switch that runs very smoothly. In comparison look at the port of Arkham knights for the PC it was shit no matter how good your PC was cuz they failed to optimize it for the PC.
Hopefully I've seen this happen with disgaea 6 release a game with bad performance not on purpose I assume but because switch is very dated being much weaker than even modern smartphone I guess it's optimization maybe due to time constraining or costing although I prefer they use the Ds style did rune factory 4 and 3 set the bar too high this game is like the dmc 2 of the series no even that game run better than this
@@dauntless1866 can you explain how doom and the witcher 3 can run on the switch then? They are heavier on the graphics yet run on a stable 30fps?
honestly i just wish they'd optimize it better for switch. there's other games on the switch that are way harder to run graphically on the switch that actually run. I LOVE the game though

@@IkaGamma I like her. And when I did the RF5 survey she's actually the one that was picked for me. But, dang might be hard to get past the fact that she's taller than me. Just weird that way I guess. I'm sure I'll get over it. She sounds adorable so I love her VA.

I wonder if they based the games data off of the bit they had done of Rune Factory 5 back in 2013 when they went bankrupt, this game looks like a Wii Game graphically 💀

it feels like they did the bare minimum to make this game passable. Am i the only one experincing extreme lag issues? it's a step in the right direction but man it's hard to play sometimes
I'm sad that Ludmilla joins very late . I wanted her to romance her early. I guess i will see if Scarlett or Lucy wins me over before joining
The game is a bit of a buggy janky mess, but im loving it nonetheless lol. Though admittedly i haven't progressed that far since about half my time in the game has been spent clipping into rocks to see if i can break the game as well as seeing if i can cheese the first cooking festival XD
The protagonist is better than that blonde one from rune factory 3? Hes the best protagonist in any farming game

Something I gotta say. Good on them for allowing same sex relationships. Not many jrpgs have done it. And none have done it to this extent. In a way I’m very proud of this series for doing so

Its funny how despite Rune Factory 5 graphic..... doesnt look the best and it has performance issue
Its gameplay and story is STILL better than the entirety of Pokémon Sword and Shield
It's a shame the game is so FUCKING laggy and clunky. The control's arent the most responsive things in the world....
RF5 is good for people who like seeing so much repeat dialogue I guess. I found the dungeons to boring and basic and most of the game is a cakewalk.
my issue with rune factory characters is that they all seem to be an overly designed anime waifu stereotype in absurd, extravagant clothing with matching personality archetypes. Harvest Moon, the early games just had real people. They were ordinary, I felt closer to a normal person with a normal life over some hostess club pop idol that sells me turnip seeds.
The RF set in a fantasy world of course that generic fantasy anime/waifu clothes that you always seen on anime will be used here unlike HM that is more base on the real world.
Just play story of seasons if you want normal people
@@frederickmajang149 Untrue, look at the original rune factory, characters looked like they belonged in the same world. Now they look like its a cosplay convention.

This has got to be some of the worst graphics on the switch. This is like 5x worse than RF Frontier on Wii. I don't get it.

@@morganmariex One is a game that is forced to rush by stupid higher up and supposed to be a AAA title
The other is a niche spinoff series that become its own series that has been dead for 8 years because the old team went bankrupt and only revived when they hired a new team
