The story isn't meant to be taken seriously it makes fun of all the anime tropes and over stereotypes them that's what makes it enjoyable - that and all the over the top animations in later abilities.

What happens to Majorita was very karmic though.

Spencer Rosario-McCabe still doesn't make it good. The anime tropes are still there.
This probably the most serious Disgaea game
moist pancakes of course they're there, otherwise they couldn't properly make fun of it. One punch man does that too.

Those who are put off by anything anime will find the story to be egregious almost. Those who watch anime and are fine with it will find the story fun due to it's over the top nature. Hell, the story doesn't even take itself seriously. It's all pure good old fun and there are many jokes and gags to laugh at.
One of the best JSRPG titles is now coming to Nintendo Switch this month... May 23rd!

This is my first experience with the disagea 5 complete of the series. I love this game so much and has an amazing devotion to absolute eternal testament that with a solid design unlimited replay value can be achieved. I'm so glad I bought this game it's an absolute gem

I actually do love to grind so this game sounds perfect for me. The thing though is these at least in my opinion scream to be played on a Handheld system. And now we have the Switch where it can be played on either with is the perfect solution.
Disgaea series is a good thought out game with lots of content to be honest seriously. I mean theres a story line of you wanted a story. There are leveling aspect, and there are a lot more options in the game where you can experience with. Its also got funny comments to all the items.
All I hear in these reviews in terms of the story is that it's bad / boring / etc. Guys. Disgaea's plot has been, and will always be, a satire. It leans on the 4th wall, it hangs lampshades, and it is generally making fun of RPG and Anime tropes. Also, this particular entry has a chapter based around getting back... curry. And there is the joke about filler episodes. Took 5 games, but it happened. (Is it 5 games, or did they make a filler joke before 5?)
Leveling to 9999 the first time takes along time. Second time takes a lot less. After that all characters even new ones get 9999 in one battle.
And then disgaea 6 hits you like a truck with level 99Million
Never played an RPG aside from Pokemon and Megaman Battle Network when I was a kid. Pretty much know the basics I guess. Would this game be any good for JRPG beginners? (Mostly playing on the go with the Switch).
Alx Mdn Hi dood! Download the demo (yeah it's sorta hidden in the eShop) and give it a try, you won't regret it. I hate the story with a passion, yet still love the game, the gameplay is that good
Alx Mdn I would recommend something more like I am setsuna for a true jrpg experience till dragon quest and xenoblade comes out.. unless you really like strategy/tactics bases ones and in that case sure..until the new core Fire Emblem for switch ✌
The Yore Dragon Thanks. I tried the demo and I just couldn't get into the game. Not really into strategy based rpgs. I might give Setsuna a chance though, if it's a little different. If I like it, I may pick up Xenoblabe. I really wanna give rpgs a chance, but I know nothing about them outside of Pokemon and the Megaman Battle Network games.

For the language option, what options are there? im fine with the english VO but there are times when you might just want to have a change of pace and change the language. the story says it supports english and french so i was wondering what languages you can change the VO to.

Overload skills are not simply limited to overlords as proven by Etna , Flonne, and Possibly Desco (haven't played the 4th game) having overloads yet they are not overlords.
Valvatorez, Adell and Majorita are not technically overlords either.

How can you have 12 units out in battle? I can only have 10 on the field.
Vin Weasel one of the characters has an overload that raises it by 5 for the battle
