      Also there's evidence to suggest they ate a fair amount of fruit, nuts, etc that could be gathered from their surroundings. Meat took a LOT of work to catch, process, and cook, and there wasn't much for preservation. If you have a bad week hunting, you need other food. That's exactly why we're omnivores.

      I did carnivore for about 3 months (I cooked everything) to test it out bc of immune issues and gut issues. And I'm pretty sure it caused all the bad bacteria that were feeding on plant materials to die off, and helped a lot. But then I went back to being an omnivore and still had lots of benefits. It definitely gets boring after awhile. But I did feel really good and have energy for the duration. I would do it again every few years if needed.

The "carnivore" diet can definitely benefit some people who suffer from unbalanced gut flora or have certain deficiencies in their diet, but it's important to remember that you still eventually need to work back to a balanced diet with fiber and other nutrients. I'm glad you were able to rebalance your gut biome and feel better! So many people don't realize how important our gut is for bodily and mental health!

    • @FeralFelineFriend
      @FeralFelineFriend 10 месяцев назад +195

      It was actually from cooking our food in general. Your brain does not use protein as a chemical in our saliva converts it into sugars. What you are getting from meat when you digest are the amino acids.

    • @Sleipnirseight
      @Sleipnirseight 10 месяцев назад +237

      @@FeralFelineFriendProteins get broken down into amino acids, not sugar. Complex carbohydrates get broken down into simpler carbs (i.e., sugars). They are two completely different biomolecules. But yes, cooking all food in general has allowed us to get more nutrients and biomolecules, and therefore more energy out of our food. The chemical you mentioned is probably the enzyme (a protein) called amylase, which specifically only breaks down certain carbs. There is a different type of enzyme used to break down each type of molecule that is in our food (e.g., lactase breaks down lactose aka milk sugar, etc).
      It is also theorized that our ancient ancestors (the species that eventually evolved into modern _Homo sapiens_ ) started eating more meat which allowed the excess protein to be used in developing larger, more powerful brains, rather than all the protein going straight to our muscles with none left over. Obviously meat was never the only source of protein, it just helped our ancestors who were living meal to meal out in the wild.

    • @Grimes417
      @Grimes417 10 месяцев назад +64

      Homo sapiens also weren’t the first to do it with evidence dating back over 1-2 mya, so I’m not really sure what she means by ancestors unless she’s talking about non homo genus. Which is saying we haven’t evolved any since homo erectus.

Southern Canadians or Qablunaat as we call them are grossed out by the fact we eat seals and whales and sometimes polar bears(avoid the liver tho you're gonna overdose on vitamin A) and look down on us for it, including a lot of perfomative activist vegans like with the sealskin ban that started in the 80's. Our economy has suffered greatly because of this sealskin exports and hunting kept food on our tables to feed our families. We are also suffering through a food insecurity crisis and eating food from grocery stores which is more expensive than if you bought something from the same store in the south and has contributed to health issues in children and young adults like diabetes and heart issues. The government restricts us from our traditional food sources to make us dependent on them and prevent us from having autonomy, colonialism isn't dead it's very much alive and well today. I wouldn't be exaggerating by calling this a genocide, and because of climate change migration of caribou has changed so has the migration pattern of harp bearded and ringed seals polar bears are becoming more dependent on human civilizations and eating our garbage which is bad for them rabies in Arctic foxes have been a thing for awhile now and caribou have been contracting CWD recently because Qablunaat culled wolves which prevented population control and the deer population is booming now and increases spread of prion disease

I’d make vegan cookies for my mum too but it’s probably best I stopped because she kept referring to them as healthy no matter how many times I reminded her they absolutely were not healthy. Most vegans I know are (young) women, and they're generally kind of chubby / bloated looking - probably due to hormonal imbalances and fat imbalances as a result of the vegan diet.
      Vegan diet isn't an inherent weight loss. Quite the opposite, alot of the time. Because it's going to be generally lower in fat and protein, and higher in carbs (sugar). In addition, it's easy to get quick calories from foods that are vegan that are just processed junk. Oreas are vegan for example, lol. As well as Ritz crackers, and alot of similar crisp/chip type things.

    I am a VT student, and we don't even recommend letting your pets eat raw meat, to not let your cats hunt, etc. There are so many parasites and so many bacteria you can get from raw meat. And as “clean” as store bought meat is, raw meat can STILL pick up bacteria and protozoans and parasites from the butchering process, like you said. If you can't even let an obligate carnivore like a cat or a ferret eat raw meat, what makes you think it's not going to happen to a human????

    The caveman diet is funny when you consider they invented fire and archeologists have proof that they cooked meat. Cavemen also had a varied diet that included grains, fruit and nuts in the areas they inhabited. We know what was in their bellies because we have preserved corspes such as those found in peet bogs. These people insisting cavemen only ate raw meat are very silly. Even cavemen knew that diet sucked which is why humans started cooking meat in the first place.
    But also eating solely meat causes you to lose weight because you're limiting your diet in such an extreme way.

    • @hawkeyescoffee6399

      Also I mean, they had pretty flimsy tools that they had to use to hunt meat. So of course meat was more of a 'When we're able to' thing since it's going to be way more time consuming than farming/foraging.
      Not to mention that generally, meat would go off faster than fruits, veges, or grains. And arguably, would have a higher chance of poisoning you if consumed when off.

    I don't care that it's currently mid-afternoon for me. When I saw the title, I thought, "it's too early for this sh*t."

    As someone from the same area as India, I'm not surprised one bit that such unhinged behaviour is going on in Southport

    Did anyone else notice that her figure in the still images she clearly posts to her social media, and the footage taken by the documentary crew, looked pretty different? She looked great in both, but if she’s doctoring her photos on her socials, where she is promoting this diet, that’s pretty crappy of her.

      i think she was just pulling an instagram, like, posing the camera angle choosing specific poses and flexing? it sounds like a lot but i hear its common, oh man, remember the myspace angle? what a riot that was lol
      as long as its not shopped, still not great but very average thing.

    its crazy how these people forget about the "gatherer" part of "hunter gatherer". like if you wanna eat raw meat thats your problem, but its not... like.. returning to the ways of our ancestors or whatever

    I'd be more worried about getting scurvy. The UK has been in the EU until relatively recently, so I'd guess they have decent enough food safety to eat raw beef, but meat and eggs is just not a balanced diet

    Wouldn't this diet make you crazy constipated?
    Also, you should talk about the dude who ate his wife's placenta right after she birthed their child. That was wild.

    I know she's an adut and can do what she want, but her prefrontal cortex has no where near finished developing. I really hope she manages to get some therapy to deal with the stuff that she went through and gets out of this space where she believes this diet is the only thing keeping her happy.

    I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the rawness of the steak wasn't what was getting the strange looks. It was probably eating a whole steak with her hands in a car.

    Nothing in that house would be safe to touch. She’s eating with her fingers right in front of her video setup and you KNOW she’s typing on that keyboard after.
