I LOVE MY 2012 LEAF. I agree that the decision to use the 24kWh battery was correct due to price. A bigger battery would have meant a higher cost, which would have put me off. When I purchased I took into account that it would be a city car. Living in Perth, Australia, distances between cities are far greater than in Europe / U.K.. I consciously decided that if I wanted to travel outside the city at that time, I would hire a fossil fuel burner. Today I could hire a modern E.V. With the required range. Perth (Oz) may not be Phoenix, but can still be hot, and it was not good for those early LEAFs. Given the Phoenix experience, I question why Nissan did not learn the lesson and incorporate thermal management in subsequent models. I congratulate Nissan on being a trail blazer in the E.V. field and producing a sturdy, quality vehicle. Apart from the HV battery, in eleven years, I have not had to replace any part, other than the consumable cabin air filter - brilliant.
