  • Welcome to part three of an accidental series about putting mics on!
Today we are chatting about tape. Types to use, how to use it and I show you how on a lovely assistant/model/forced but willing participant.
PLEASE NOTE, Tainga was the perfect candidate for someone for me to model these methods on as he is not only a performer who is accustomed to the act but also my partner who would be patient through the time it took to film. Because of our relationship our touch is very casual and NOT the same to how I would touch a coworker. This demonstration was about the ways I place the tape, not the ways I would touch a coworker in an appropriate manner. Please do not handle and hug your performers or touch them at all without their consent. A future part to this series will be about etiquette in dressing rooms and touching people in order to do your job.

Nice video. If you can forgive a small suggestion from Durham , England. I’m a retired Paediatrician/Neonatologist and sometime microphone technician. Apart from the medical clear membranes tegaderm and the like which work great, I have another tape for the most precious IVs in neonates and children. Especially if they are moving around. Hypafix. It’s not expensive but sticks brilliantly. Alcohol also helps get it off. It’s white but will take make up on top! By the way some kids cry if you are removing tegaderm. If you pull it out sideways and lengthways looking to stretch it like a pizza it breaks the adhesion and is pain free ti remove

@@monique_tech Hypafix is great, and exists in transparent version, it's quite like Tegaderm but matte and so easier to paint/make up. I use ref n°7237800 (5cm*10m) on opera broadcasts. Also like Blenderm which is also matte but a bit thicker so less discrete, but easier/quicker to rig. Loved the sider demo, do you put any weight on the wire inside the costume for it to get back in automatically or does it just work naturally?

adhesive remover sounds like a godsend. Used some clear plastic tape for keeping my radio earpiece in place not realising I had a good chunk of glue building up on my skin whoopsies.
