Great idea, how about a 5 minute overview on standard maintance on older Yamaha motors, say 2005 to 2008. So many different thoughts on what should be changed or not. Thanks again, great show.

    On hvac, any special service?
For helmmaster, can a 3rd joystick be added?
On the 42fxo, where is the bimini stored?
Maybe compare different decking materials, easy clean.
Not alot out there on engine break-in, first, 2nd oil change.
Always getting a boat off the rack, how about a little more on storage, max size, etc., little interview with staff.
    Trailer maintenance for newbies.
Where can we get QB merch?

Great idea, don’t think it needs to be a hard 5 min just less than 10 maybe 🤔
Interested as a follow up you said gen sets alway peak at some stage, I was always chasing corrosion on mine even when I was doing enough preventative to not have leaks any advice on how to stop prevent that given they are prone to leaking at some point

Awesome video! What are the must have tools and spare parts to keep on the boat? Have you done a video on how to change the water pump and impeller on a Westerbeke?

Good idea and I do have a video or two of changing an impeller on a Westerbeke. I couldn't even guess what episode. Lol. Sorry. It's almost the same as the Fischer Panda but it's belt driven instead of being driven by the crank.

Cool idea! I struggled a bit with my Lewmar windlass - always seemed to give me issues - do you have any advice on loading, adjustment, and maintenance of an electric windlass? Another topic could be how to fish wires inside a boat or upgrade an older vessel to NMEA 2000. Keep at it Justin, your channel is one of my favorites!

Great job Justin, how about a video on the Yamaha XTO 425's basic maintenance, including engine oil & filter, as there is not a single video on the oil change. As the procedure appears to be so different from our F300's & F250's. Gear lube as well, as the one video on the gear lube change... does not meet the quality threshold of your videos. Keep up the GREAT videos, best.

I’d love to hear a 5 minute talk on your thoughts about the Yamaha digital electric steering and compare to the older hydraulic systems in terms of service issues. I know you’ve got several service videos on hydraulic steering and wonder what issues you’ve encountered so far with DES.

You could talk about the new Yamaha 300 and 425 or just outboards in general

Awesome new concept, look forward to the series. Since we should know how to do a generator water pump impeller, should we also need to know the outboard engine impeller?

    • @JustinLeeMarine
      @JustinLeeMarine  3 года назад

Good question and it's much more complicated to do a water pump on an outboard plus you can't do it on the water in an emergency. I would always say to learn it just to know it. Thanks for watching.

Have a Westerbeke generator (6.5KW - newer style) with 384 hours on a regal 33 express. Couple of weeks ago she shutdown due to Engine Temp Overheat fault. I replaced the impeller (which had lost a blade) and cleaned out the heat exchanger (located the missing impeller blade). Adjusted the serpentine belt to within specs, replaced heat exchanger gaskets while at it. Confirmed no leaks. She runs for up to an hour without an issue when the boat engines (twin volvo's) are off. With the engines on and the bilge hatch closed, the generator will only run for about 15 minutes and shuts off due to overheat.
Thoughts? The water coming out of the exhaust thru hull seems excessively hot this season compared to prior seasons.
Thermostat stuck is my only other diagnosis but wanted to throw this here before I take the thermostat housing apart.

I would make sure there is no air left in the cooling system side of the motor. That can cause over heat. The thermostat would be the next thing I check. Also make sure your thru hull valve is clear and the lines going to/from the strainer. Those can cause poor water flow. Keep me posted. Sounds like you are on the right track.

There were vendors at the St Pete boat show selling the LiFo(?) Lithium batteries to replace the house AGM batteries. Expensive but it sounds like the added capacity and performance may be worth it when comes time to replace the AGMs. Any thoughts? Good idea on the Friday shorts!

Good idea. The only problem is that you need a special battery charger to keep them charged. Just adds more money.

Do you have any video of removing and replacing the entire water pump?

I do not but that is a good suggestion. Thank you

Is it difficult to go from analog controls to digital controls on a 200 Suzuki. I already have digital gauges, but When I bought the boat they didnt spend the money for digital shift. Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't know the answer to that question. Its been awhile since I have worked on a Suzuki. I would call a Suzuki dealer and ask if it's possible and what you need to do it. Thanks for watching.
