Used your guide to tear down my PS3 tonight. Dusted off the rails that the laser travels on, put it all back together, and fix the problem. Glad I don't have to replace it, and spending zero dollars is a bonus!
Wish me luck, I'm about to try the same thing
I had more issues with it a few months after the fix. I was glad I got the tear it down and get it back together no problem, but I ended up buying another PS3 slim from a local second hand store. I would still suggest trying this, but that's just what I had to do personally
@mudges5 Okay, thanks I'll try it and hope for the best 🤞
@@-DarumaFN-Any update?
@JayBox092 I should have said sooner, it worked! Thanks for the help.
Really wish you'd said the update thing before taking this apart lol. Thanks for showing the steps of disassembly though
Yeah, that would’ve been nice, had no idea that was a thing
This is the best video out there, bar none. I thought either my disc drive was bad, or had a 'faulty control board', was getting ready to get out my tools and start ordering parts, when I stumbled across this, and saw what NOT to do. All I needed to do was jiggle the disc around a few times and VOILA! Thank you so much Retrogameon.
I had no idea that there was an extra screw under the warranty sticker, thank you for that.
I watched another video where they remove the sticker but didn’t explain why the screw was under it... I thought to myself that’s a stupid place for a sticker. This dude explained everything
This completely fixed my PS3, had the exact same problem and now it works like a dream! Also, FYI, the ribbon was not off on mine, so I want to think that maybe popped out during your disassembly. Thanks for the great video!
I owe you a beer. Been messing about for hours. It was the bloody ribbon 🤣
Thank you SO much! My ps3 has not recognized games for years. Couldn't believe it when a game actually loaded up. Could not find a fix for this anywhere until your video. Much appreciated man. Subscribed.
Brill pal fixed my PS3 cheers
Great video. If it doesn’t work and you “make” it work. Then you fixed it. Regardless. Thanks brah!
Exactly! As long as it works,it doesn't matter how it was fixed
Been looking for one of these tutorials for years and now I’ve finally got one 😂
Nice vid ... As i have gone through servicing and repairing my own PS3 Slim 1st gen (as this is) quite a few times, i can confirm and also mention a few things:
1) This machine had been taken apart before - bottom sticker was missing and the screw U found inside was most likely from the button assembly. There is also a black ribbon-like sticker that goes around the disc drive - which was missing here.
2) The Blu-ray lens WILL eventually go out - all these have finite life-spans, which are greatly reduced, when someone "save-scams" on games (save, reload, save, reload). BUT, most Blu-ray chinese replacement lenses - KEM-450AAA, KES-450AAA and other similar types - are actually of decent quality, don't need any soldering and also don't need any calibration (done by the drive board, housed inside the drive).
3) U indeed don't need to take apart the drive's middle section - with all the plastic retainers & springs - but U need to make sure they all work properly, not broken bits e.t.c. Also - important - the spindle motor, as well as the worm-drive motor need to rotate freely, and the worm driver, together with the lens rails need to be greased properly. If the spindle or the worm driver make a lot of noise, they will need to be replaced.
4) Also, there is a tiny motor in the drive's entrance ... This motor actuates when U insert the disc in the drive and needs to be in a good shape (lubricated & dust-free).
On a final note, i wish more & more folks would actually learn what a great console the PS3 Slim is ... Very easy to take apart & quite easy to service the majority of faults that (may) occur over the years, unlike the PS3 Fat or the Super-Slim.
Just my two cents here ... Cheers again, man & thumbs-up ... Keep up the good work
I’m thinking of doing the system restore but is there a way I can save PS3 wallpapers Ik I can re-download the games I have but is there a way for me to put my themes on a drive or something or do I have to try to look it all up and download it again and will I lose my accounts on the system?
@@altzerz PS3 System Restore "wipes clean" your console, essentially erases ALL Data on the Hard Drive (just gives U the choice for either a quick or a full Format on the disc) and defaults ALL settings ... U won't be able to retain any themes or wallpapers, game and save data, msgs e.t.c... Wallpapers are simple image files, so U can back-up those beforehand on a USB stick or external HDD - same with your game saves (minus the locked ones), any pictures, music and videos U might have on the PS3. As far as themes go though, U will need to look them up again on the net - when U DL a theme, either from the net or transferring it from your PC to your PS3, the console installs it and deletes the original file .. Your accounts' credentials - IDs, login & password - will be deleted after restoring the system, but U will be able to re-establish the same accounts again with the same credentials (whatever settings they had prior to restore will be gone, as well - U will need to re-set everything)... Just keep in mind that with the latest firmware - 4.89 - Sony took away the ability to create NEW accounts from the console itself, as in creating an account from the PS3 & login-in to PSN. I did the System Restore once myself - when i changed the HDD for a bigger-faster one than stock - and i used my same account as before the System Restore & HDD Swap ... I believe the same will apply with Firmware 4.89 - i don't see any reason why the console won't let U use the same accounts, after restoring the system, with or without changing the HDD ... Cheers
@@DarthSimous Ok thank you for the information I have the same PS4 as the guy in the video and my disc Drive don’t work it doesn’t read the desk what do you think are the chances of me doing the update and it fixing my desk because it will kind of be a bummer if I do the restore and it doesn’t fix my disk
@@altzerz U probably meant to say "the same PS3", not PS4, i believe ... U R welcome, but - and if i understand correctly from your 2nd comment - neither a full system restore, a firmware upgrade, nor a Hard Disc swap will fix your disc drive to read discs (Blu-rays or DVDs), if it doesn't currently read discs, when U insert them ... U - most likely - need to swap the laser lens module, as i said in my first comment ... Don't worry, it isn't that difficult, no special skills required, or any special tools ... Search it up on YT: "PS3 Slim laser swap or change", many tutorial vids ... Cheers again ...
@@DarthSimous Hey Darth I’ve got an issue with a used PS3 slim I picked up recently. I’m planning to crack the disk drive open and have a look myself but you seem very knowledgeable. I’d appreciate your insight greatly
The PS3 Slim in question reads disks just fine but I’ve noticed that it starts to emit a low buzzing sound after a while when running certain games off the disk. Closing the game and ejecting the disk reveals what appears to be white ringed markings slowly expanding from the centre of the disk on the label side of the disk. The damage doesn’t seem to be present on the bottom of the disk. I can only assume that something in the drive is scratching the top of the disk as it spins, creating these ringed spiral markings.
I’ve run another disk in the unit and not encountered this issue. The only relevant distinction I can think of between the two games is that one is a dual layer blu ray and the other is single layer blu ray, but I can’t see how that would cause this issue.
If you have any insight I’d be very appreciative.
2022 This worked for me, I did not need the full reset as shown but a quick one worked just fine and my disks are now working. Amazing!
Did it delete anything
I did a full format. It took 14 hours and didn't fix it. Also I did a software update to the latest version which didn't fix it either. DVDs and CDs work, but when I put a blu ray into it, then the drive does all kind of weird stuff and sometimes the console freezes. So basically now it's a PS1 with integrated internet connection, DVD player and HDMI.
Then your laser is probably messed up
@@rianeuton1251 yes, I think that's it. I didn't do anything with the Playstation after that since I got it for 20€ with 2 controllers and a 250GB HDD, so I don't consider it a loss. Also I had my last year of school, so much stuff to learn and then Covid happened. Maybe I'll buy a new laser if I can get one cheap.
@@Tom2404 right no that's definitely not a loss, especially if you were just fixing it up that's really good. Luckily it's not a complex system so it should be rather easy to troubleshoot
watched til the end; will try the full restore then update before diving deeper. Thanks for the video.
3:01 they aren’t proprietary, those screws need a Torx Security T9H bit, you can buy one at a hardware store like I did today
I used a T8H bit and it worked.
Good one. And bah, if something is not working and you get it working you repaired it. Easy repairs are the best. Keep them coming, it educates those with non working consoles that it sometimes is just dirty.
Exactly. I shudder to think about all the consoles that have potentially gone to landfills over simple problems.
Nice to see the modern stuff being fixed. :-)
"I still fixed the damn thing!" Lol.
CheapRedBoy im having problems removing the silver screw can u help me by any chance?
@Javier Justice haha
I bought a backup system for a few parts I damaged during my first thermal paste attempt. I ended up fixing everything with the spare parts, installed an SSD and put a new paste. Once I got the PS3 running, nothing would launch. Apps and games would stall and freeze the system. Thanks to a forum post, I found out that if the optical drive is having issues reading disks, then the PS3 won't launch apps. I finally switched the optical drives from the machines, and all the apps worked. It's back to normal.
I don't know how my teardown broke my original optical drive, but I even tested the ribbon cables individually to see if that's the issue. It's definitely some sort of issue with reading the disks.
Bro this is the best. I just got a PS3 Slim 160gb for $10 because it wasn't reading games. I've had it for a Week or so with downloaded games and now since I watched your video and did the 10 hour restore it now reads games. Like holy shit 10 out of 10 bro. Thank you.
10??? Man your lucky as hell
@@perrycoffey5410 yeah this lady was selling it for 10 bucks because it didn't read games. And then I gave her another 24 the two controllers
I had to tear down my PS3 and replace the whole drive and this video helped with the teardown because I would have never known what to do if it weren't for this video. Thanks.
Before doing this hold the eject disc button on your ps3 for 12 seconds. This fixed an ongoing problem I’ve been having for months and I figured I’d share for my fellow gamers. Good luck 👍
My PlayStation 3 slim isn't reading Blu-ray discs or PlayStation 3 games just the PlayStation 1 types. Was your problem similar to this? Just wondering if this would possibly help my situation
I bought a PS3 slim on eBay for $17. Would turn on but not read any disc at all. Would then knock once after the disc in for 30-40 seconds. Took apart, cleaned the dead bugs and dust. Wiped the laser. Still no fix. Did the 9 hour update. Made PlayStation account signed in popped in SSX and boom. Works fine now. Ty.
Hi, just saved my PS3 today thanks to your video. Turns out that ribbon was also knocked loose on mine, and reconnecting it completely solved the disk drive issue. How strange that it had come loose. I've had my PS3 for 15 years and this problem occured about a year ago. Perhaps it was the way I had stored the PS3 in a box for a while. Guess I'll never find out, but glad I can play all my old favourite games again now. Thanks so much for your video.
Thanks bro. My son and I took it apart 2 times and on the 2nd try I did that thing where u plugged it in while still apart and that did the job. Ps3 back in business...
For anyone wondering what those black screws are, they are t8 torx security screws
Oi, just a heads up, I did some digging and realized that the Disc Drive in that PS3 is not the original PS3 slim version of the drive so the disassembly is a little different, i.e: the screws to remove the ejection system are not in the same spot, if you position the more narrow side facing away from you in the OEM drive you’ll see a screw on the bottom left and three clips on each of the remaining corners, apart from that the laser assembly is the same, good video regardless, Cheers!
Thanks, I had the same problem with my PS3, and the full system restore fixed it! I was worried it had finally bit the dust at the ripe age of 17
The ps3 restore fixed my problem. The disc would not go in all the way it would take it just a tad in. The reset fixed it! Thank you man!
omgolly, this helped! my ps3 hasn't accepted disks for over 5 years!
also, this is the only youtube video i could find that actually worked :P
I haven't played disc-based games in years either and I want to again. :(
But did you do the full restore then?... I do have a bunch of stuff I don't want to get rid of, so hopefully I could also make a backup or whatever and restore that onto the restored system later...
Did you had also the ribbon disconnected. Mine was never opened but it does not accept disks, but it ejects them when inside? the input mechanism is kind of messed up i guess
The only thing that works is my DVD
Zero games and zero blurays
I just found a ps3 in an abandon building. It turns on and works perfectly besides the fact that it won’t accepts disks, like the slot is being blocked.
There is a white plastic in the blu ray. This plastic block the dics. You should remove bottom cover bluray and there is a gear white. When you remove this white gear bluray mechanism will be reset and white plastic will be down. Thre are tutorials in youtube to reset bluray mechanism
I got one to refurb and I found a cache of personal pictures of a nude kind. I am surprised the resell shop didn't find them, but they only do a quick function test.
Just to share i followed your tutorial few days ago, it fixed mine! The video helped me get inspired. In my case there was a coin magnetized on the disc “locker” (the white circular thing on the center of the loader). Your video showed it spins everytime you load a disc whereas mine didnt.
My PS3 is behaving similarly only it does take in the disc but that's as far as it goes once it does that the laser mechanism clicks rhythmically and then you can quietly hear the disc spinning up and down, then it sounds like it's about to eject but then cancels and pulls the disk back in and the Vicious Cycle continues until it gives up
I'm having the same issue, did you find a resolution/ fix for this?
@ mostly involving things I don’t want to do like completely taking it apart, or replacing the drive
@@silasmcgee3647 yeah its seeming that way. On the upside a replacement drive is like $20-$40 rn, but I was definitely hoping it was something simple. Mine stopped reading BD after I knocked it over while it was on (packing up to move, not paying attention). In my head there should be a simple fix but it seems more involved
You taking apart and putting the mechanism back together fixed it lol
I hope you realize you didn't have to take the power supply or any of that apart. All you had to do was take the ps3 cover off take the metal shield off the disk drive then take one screw out which removes the disk drive cover.
I cant figure out how you would do it without taking the power supply out… i think you may be mistaken
Not me searching for this video because my 2 year old put a jigsaw piece in the disk drive..
Hey! I did the same procedures on my PS3 and it read discs again! Thanks so much for sharing this video with us! Thank you very much ! Success !!!!
Glad to hear it. Enjoy
I think the previous owner did unplug the drive. Then used the console without the drive and updated. The update could not update the drive so it made it unusable on the updated system. This is why launching new updates after pluging it back fixed the drive.
Hmm kinda wished I'd watched this video before taking the thing half apart. But I still very much needed to clean the dust out. Guess I'll copy all my saves and try the restart, instead of continuing and getting at the laser. I stopped and switched videos to this one because the two top screws at 5:56, I honestly though the heads had come off mine and I couldn't open the cover. (They are the ends of screws on the bottom of the BRD, lol I'm a major amatuer). OK final results I did continue to the laser and lightly wiped it, put everything back together and it just worked fine, no reset. Not sure if it was dust, laser or loose connection somewhere, but this still was very helpful to the process, thanks!
Good job....thats a real repair...replacing a new lens is not a repair, its a replacement. They're not fixing the broken lens they are just putting in a new one. Because you correctly repaired this you didnt waste money on a new lens. Props!
My daughter had stuffed 4 discs into our ps3! luckily your guide helped me get into it to find them 👍
Impressive effort on your daughters behalf
I have this same issue at the moment so thank you I will try all this, I'm glad your PS3 now works, well done! 👍
The white piece of plastic and spring you were playing with at 7:22 both flew out for me as well, and now I can't seem to fit them both back in their original place. There isn't a single video anywhere showing how to fit them back in ;( Can anyone help me reposition both things back in place??
Check the iFixit website. They may have a guide
You have earned a new subscriber good Sir. This video help me out to bring back to life a PS3 Slim I was also given by a friend because his lil one decided to put some puzzles pieces inside the DVD player and it has been laying around my other stuff “to be repaired”
Thanks to you, one less thing in that list and now time to play some “retro” (not that retro) games! Cheers
Still saving PlayStations over here in 2020
This was a helpful guide for me to reference on taking this apart so I could clean it, but I removed a screw from somewhere and can't figure out where the hell it goes now 😭
There are some really detailed photo guides on iFixit. Maybe cross check one of those?
@@retrogameon I found it! Tysfm man
thats called a torx security bit and its not proprietary in case anyone hadn't figured that out
Thank you my friend, i had a similar problem with mine, the cables for my version were different but eventually i got it and it turned out that somone just unplugged it or just forgot to plug it in, after some cleaning and assembling, it started working again, thank you for that amazing tutorial ❤ btw my verison was probably different cuz i live in europe
I have an old PS3 that I picked up cheap because it was overheating.. Replaced the fan and that problem was fixed.. But, similar to yours, no Disc Drive.. Replaced the laser assembly, no go.. Bought a whole new drive... No Go... Tried new cables, still no go.. So I threw it in a box in the closet.. After watching this video I'm going to dig it back out and see if the long format will fix it.. Thanks for the inspiration and hope!
Good luck! Let me know how it goes
What’s the update ?
Hello there, Ive been having problems with my PS3 slim, it can be turn on but i get no picture on hdmi or any port and i can only turn it off if i hold the power button, so i just opened my PS3 and noticed that the hard drive on the top looks very corroded due to heat, but the rest of the parts of the console look pretty good, do you think that might be the issue for not getting picture out of the hdmi? All the ports including the hdmi look pretty good too, btw I hadn’t used it in a while and it had a DVD stuck and i removed it with the screw technique without opening the console
Restored it and it fixed my problem your a blessing I swear, now only if my ps4 can work again.
I have one of these lying around , and was gonna throw it out because the cd drive is done for. but everything else is great, i was thinking that i can take it apart upgrade the HD to an SSD . and just download games via the store. after watching your video i ordered a cd/blu ray drive off ebay from a reputable seller. I cannot wait to upgrade this thing , i already downloaded the software for the SSD upgrade.
I had my ps3 with an ssd for a couple of years and sadly it doesn't make much of a difference on it, it's probably that the propietary ps3 file system it's not made to take advantage of the speeds of an ssd.
I love my Sony equipment.
I can't believe you didn't try the final solution first, being easier and all.
Cool video anyway!
I would have if I knew it was a thing ha. I only discovered it by researching later on (this video was filmed over two or three days).
@@retrogameon what model number is this ?
Has anyone heard of a similar issue where a PS3 slim will accept discs and you can hear them spin up, but then you hear a CHUNK CHUNK pump shotgun reloading sound and the PS3 eventually says "cannot read the disc" ? I once got it to accept a disc by trying it like 40 times. Feels like something mechanically is failing. Dried out belt or something.
Im glad I found this video, I found a ps3 slim from Value village for 25$ and i THOUGHT it was working properly outside of the hideous dust buildup but then the drive would not work, but after watching this, opening up and trying to remove more dust from the blu ray drive, I couldn't find anything weird with it. So I tried putting in a DVD like you did and APPARENTLY that still works, just not the blu ray like you. So I'm now trying out the system restore to see if that'll fix the issue on my end.
Did it work?
@@alessiocinalli8315 Only for single layered disc games at the time. Double layered gmes like metal gear solid 4 and blu ray movies will STILL not work. So " I concluded it needs either a laser replacement or a drive replacement.
I have the Gran Turismo 5 Race Pack Dark Blue PS3 Slim from 2010 and it won't read PS3 games but it does read PS1 games.
I too find myself at the end of my rope, took it apart god knows how many times now, cleaned the lenses, put it back together only to not only be able to read disks but also stuck with that dreaded “chunky clunk” sound coming from the disk drive. Now doing a full system restore which hopefully with a little luck, I’ll get to relive simpler times with my console during these COVID times! 🙄
5M1L3Y311 did it work???
Wicks Way Sadly, no. Give it a try though as it’s mos def worth a shot. The “fan trick” is also good:
0. Turn off console.
1. Disconnect the AC cord from console.
2. Press and hold “eject button”.
3. Whilst pressing, reconnect AC cord.
4. Wait until fan kicks in.
5M1L3Y311 dang! I actually did the fan trick before. It didn’t improve the eject sound or read my game. It’s currently 20 mins in to the 7hr restore so I’ll see if anything improves in the morning. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll drop it off at the local retro game shop. They only charge $30-$50 to repair the PS3 so that’s not too bad.
This video was everything but the problem solving guide I needed for my disk drive, but it was very entertaining nonetheless. Definitely got my like!
Do you have a video on how to put it back together

You just shared your daily life, no tutorial
I wish this was my daily life! Note: Nowhere in the description, the title or in the video does it state this is a tutorial. It's a repair log, like many other videos on my channel.
12:45 THE ART OF BUTTON MASHING REARS IT'S HEAD ONCE AGAIN! lol But I'm trying this now! I have the exact same issue on my PS3 Slim so I hope it works! Mainly because like you said it seems like it would be a hardware issue but it's apparently a software issue. And that's really interesting and funny to me! Even if it doesn't work great video!
Bro this video is amazing i love the commentary xD Gosh you just earned a sub!!
I had the same issue but i just hard resetted and it now works so just hard reset first
I bought a new laser 1 week ago. Tried to replace it. Didn't work right away. Took apart like 10 times!
Very frustrating. My original laser had gunk on the little bars. (Dirt' dust, n grease) also the door way was dirty. (Used q-tip). The first attempt: disc wouldn't go in anymore! Another attempt: I forgot to put in screw that holds the little plastic parts. Another attempt: I forgot to put back that little magnet disc. Still didn't work. But kept retrying ▶ribbon connectors.◀ The one outside the laser deck. The one that has that grey foam on it. My last attempt finally 'ka chunked' and fitted very solid. Previous attempts it would go on loosely. Never felt it was a super solid connection. On both ends. I also previously secured the ribbon onto the deck with tape. So it wouldn't loosen when putting it back together. My original issue was that laser stopped reading disc. First blu ray. Was playing dvd n ps1 until we tried a cleaning disc. Then stopped playing anything. But would allow discs to go in. I think it was the laser. But when putting it back together I was loosening already loosen ribbon connections. My ps3 is now working again with a new laser. Cleaned out doorway. And put back together with way less screws than originally had.
I paid 30$ for new laser. Was it worth it? Yes. I learned a lot about how my ps3 works and how its built together. Wish you all the best of luck. 👍 And note to PlayStation how this wouldn't be an issue if their new system were backwards compatible. In my frustration I was totally thinking about getting an X1! 😁
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I tried to clean my PS3 Slim a few years ago, and afterwards it wouldnt read any discs. I found it pretty strange and decided just to put the PS3 away because I thought the disc drive broke in the process of trying to clean it.
A few hours ago I decided to try to find out why it wouldnt read discs and guess what... I forgot to connect the big wide ribbon cable underneath the disc drive... I feel pretty stupid lmao
How you fix when it eject randomly but the disc doesn't come out then a few seconds later it reads the disc
o consider even simple things like cleaning out the console from the inside, repluging in loose or disconnected cables, updates or system restores Fixes if the system was not working properly before it was cleaned out, system restored, etc. because although easy and simple it resolved the issue whatever that issue is and most people would not put the time in or not know how to do even the simple stuff to resolve/fix the system's issue/issues
It's still a repair because it wasn't accepting the disc in the first place so it's a repair. I'm having the same issue, my PS3 is not reading the disc, I hope it's the same issue you had because that's pretty simple. People always got to remember it could be a simple fix but we're always looking for something harder. Thanks good video and it makes sense, I should of known better to try that first after taking it apart a few times, lol.
P.s you should of added putting it back together in your video because that would help alot of people that way also.
Thanks for the video, just opened mine up, was having the same challenge as you. Ribbon Cable was disconnected, reconnected & it works great!
You can also use a knife to get the torx screws out

I can’t get the disk drive to come out any tips?
How do you fix that thing that jumped out of the drive at 7:25?
Wow - my PS3 has NOT been able to play any blueray discs (ps3 games or movies) for years. Started watching this video after watching a few others on replacing the optical drive and/ or laser thinking I would order parts and try a repair myself or just get rid of the ps3.
You were the only one video that mentioned the system restore option.
I tried the system restore and holy s#%t it worked with no issues...my PlayStation3 now plays everything and is 100% fully operational again.
Thank you
Didn't work for me. Lost all my data
@@termayo that's unfortunate. The System restored process certainly clears the HDD back to factory default, so if you didn't do a manual backup with a USB drive of your save games/ data before this that's unfortunate.
I hope you have a PSPlus Subcription which would keep cloud copies of your save games/ data back up with your PS+ account (100GB cloud storage)
@@wetsu7648 I didn't. But I only play the old online cods, campaign doesn't mean much to me. I will need to strip the ps and give it a proper clean. Fingers crossed for sorting the laser. You were lucky for that to fix it. Cheers.

I'm looking how to put back this spring cause i have this problem too right now
I updated my PS3 did the quick format and at first I thought it was working and tried to play Far Cry 3 only to be met with a 80010514 error. Then it wasn't reading the game anymore. I put in a blu ray movie and got nothing but DVD movies worked fine. I also tried full formatting and was met with a 8001002F error. Probably will try both quick and full formatting again, but at this point I think I might end up getting another PS3 (or get a PS4) since it is apparently banned from using PSN for no apparent reason.
Update: Both quick and full formatting still did fix my issue. I guess I'm buying another PS3...
I have a problem with the white thing on the right in 7:33 it doesn’t bounce back it jus comes off and really loose
this problem make the person really angry and sad
It absolutely was the ribbon cable, mine was plugged in. My issue was my kid shoved a nickel in there.
The restore worked for me! Thanks for doing this. I installed a larger HDD years back so the restore took a lot longer.
How the hell do u get the safety screws off it’s so hard
My PS3 Slim is doing the same except that the disc drive is trying to eject a disc that isn't there to the point that the system turns itself on once in a while. Did that happen at all with your PS3 Slim?
I have this problem, my GOW 3 disc has never worked, other games do work most of the time. Would this fix the problem? I also cleaned the lens and that helped with other games but never... never the GOW3 blu ray. I will try this.
The white thing at the bottom in the middle is sticking up and i cant put any discs in it. May you please help me ?
Same
Just went to try this after like 7 or so years of mine not working. I ordered a replacement disk drive earlier today but then stumbled onto this video, so if this works I'm gonna be mad at myself lol. The seller I ordered the replacement from at least offers returns if I need to but I've caused myself way more of a headache than needed if a full restore does work.
I remember I thought I tried to restore it back in the day but my stupid younger self probably just did the quick restore to be honest.
Where did you find a replacement disk drive. I think I need 1
