I just picked one up for 35.00.....Out of all my years tearing stuff down and restoring, this took the cake........It was like the person had the ps3 set up in a swamp........all kinds of questionable textures were residing under the hood. There was even charring where the dust was trying to ignite. I cleaned it all up and installed an SSD......all good to go. Great video!

No roaches fixing systems in the North, but I did clean half a ounce of vaped bud out of the last ps3 I refurbished. Must have shared a spot next to a Volcano. The thermal pads were almost dust and needed replacing. A new thermal paste application improved temps by over 10 degrees.
Here in Portugal a couple roaches and other insects is quite normal in some consoles badly maintained consoles... But yeah thermal pads also need replacement time to time...

Not quite shure but i think not. Just the thermal paste. If the pads look good normally theres no problem
Do i need screws just to open the top exterior unlike how easy the ps4 is any1 ? Its been 12yrs unopened and still running fine away from dust, heat and smoke.
Thers 3 bolts i think thers a “special” tool needed :) with a hole on the middle :)

Sadly i found a ps3 slim in my grandads attic, followed the tutorial and basically i dismantled it and tried to fix it and restore it but sadly it was absolutely battered and after i took it all apart it broke but when i turned on the power button i got a huge electric shock on my left thumb and it could've possibly kill3d me so i immediately picked it up with a towel and threw it away

What kind of dust-off brush are u using or would recommend ?
I use a soft paint brush 😂😂😂 but the make up brushes are very good
You tried power it on before cleaning? how its got so bad i have many consoles and I care for them did it work before cleaning?
Yes! It works but shutdown after a while because its gettin to hot! After the clean is working fine!

@@fabiofontes i did and it has leaves in it but the motherboard and power supply looks good although I got a backwards compatible ps3 and it looked good to but it electrocuted me and popped

P.S if you wanna know all the parts to screw back in at the end when you're done? Just take pics of each individual screw and where it went out of so you know😗❤ so you wont have trouble putting the thing back together

Really great video my ps3 is gonna be very dirty because it hasn't been cleaned once but I don't know I'm scared to open it because I'm 100% sure I'm gonna break something 😭😭😭

Eu sempre tive muito cuidado com a minha Playstation 3 e ainda hoje jogo.
Por fezes a consola durante o jogo dá-me um freeze, a música continua, mas o jogo pára mesmo na tela do ecrã e é permanente até reiniciar a consola.
Achas que poderá ser devido ao possível aquecimento normal dela, mas talvez devido a um possível pó dentro dela esse aquecimento torna-se superior e provoca estas paragens?
Dá-me uma dor ter que abrir a consola e remover o selo de origem...

I bought a PS3 for $20 but the person said the console was in a house that wasn't properly ventilated when contractors were spraying bathtub paint. Apparently the PS3 got effected by the toxic VOCs from the bathtub paint, and it spews out toxic air. Do you have any suggestions on how we can fully clean it?
Well the best its take ot fully apart like this one… Isopropyl alcohol and much patiente and you can get it done for shure ;)
A local place near me charges 40 bucks to clean and change the paste inside my PS3 slim I just bought. Just from the outside you can tell it’s super dirty! is 40 bucks a fair price? I hope they clean it as good as you did !! I want to give them 50 and tell them to really clean it lol I want it to last

I opened mine and even after a decade there was hardly any dust in there, I was very surprised, only the thermal paste needed to be replaced.
Well its depends how many ours and where you use it… :)
@@fabiofontes I vacuum and dust every day and once a month I use the fan's test functions to blow through.
Even cooling fins had no dust due to the fan test function.
But I still find the PS3 quite loud, especially if you're used to a PS5, Series X and a quiet PC.

HOW TF DID YOU OPEN THAT PSU THAT EASY???? My PS3 has psu model eadp-185ab, i think it's the same as yours and for the love of god i can not pop open that piece of crap cuz there's no friggin hinges thing like it's on other version of PSUs that people show in different videos.

@@JustSomeGuyLV No , nothing hidden.. you have to work out with all the plastic tabs with some patience... Try another tool maybe.. :D
@@fabiofontes There's video titled ''HOW TO Open PS3 & Fix No Power - Powersupply install'' - it's a guy who's experienced electronics repairman. He found the hidden latches or whatever thing that need to be popped open at specific places (Sony has made shit-ton of psu variants for ps3, this doesn't say anything good about their design if they find flaws again and again). And even he was struggling a lot at 7:35. Sony is making dumb product build decisions (i feel like it's intentional design choices to complicate repair/maintenance at home). I noticed it in my recently purchased Sony BT speaker as well.

Take out the filming you can do it in a couple hours!
Could you upgrade those hdd with ssd?
Yes. I have done it … I dont think the gain is too much but if you install HEN for example to run backups from hardive it should improve load speeds…

Hi!!! Yes you can polish out by hand with car polish :) or by machine wich is faster and better

Does this effect on fps?
Yes! If the console goes to hot it can start doing thermal throttling and slow down the perfomance a little bit… not quite shure but i think it can happen!

Its a powder to use with kind of a super glue to plastics! Its quite strong and in about 3 seconds its hard!!

Well if u dont messe up with the HDD a lot the data should be safe! Take it easy take some pictures :) and you ll be fine!
