Yes a friend of mine has a problem with his ps4. He can insert CDs, and the console will spin it and try to read it, but then after 30 seconds or so it will spit the CD out. So he only buys game in the play store from now
Yep I've had plenty of problems from loud fans to not reading discs to not even taking the discs but I've fixed them all with some help from the one and only
My ps4 has problems reading disc it's weird to like if i put a disc in there and let it sit for a min and then try and play it most of the time it won't read it at all i would have to turn it off and back on then it will read just fine or eject the disc then put it back in then it a work have no idea what's going on with it but either case i would have to start the game as soon as it's ready to play

This is the only video I've found that lets me see the parts under the plate and how they are supposed to be sitting. for people that have taken their drive apart and don't remember how those little plastic doodads go in there this is the best I have found so far. It doesn't show every part but it's as close as I've been able to find.
I got a PS4 Slim 1TB for $90 at a pawn shop. They said the disc drive was broken. I opened it up and the switch that is activated by the black arms had snapped off. I got a new drive from ifixit. It was the first model of PS4 Slim that has different spots for the ribbon cables. I took both of the drives apart, switched the ribbon cables and I have a fully working PS4. Watching your videos gave me much more confidence to do these kind of repairs and take chances on broken systems.

Another outstanding instructional video. You have gotten me out of the poop numerous times so thankyou. Information that viewers may be interested in is with my PS4 Pro all of the screws on the inside of mine are silver except a single black screw and it is on the disc drive. When removing the disc drive from the body of the console I had a VERY well hidden black screw in the bottom right corner of the disc drive case (oriented with the disc drive on the left, the fan on the right). It took me a while to notice this and I tried to 'pop' that corner out thinking that it was a clip holding it. Something to bear in mind.
Took me 3 hours to take it apart and get it back together again but working now, thankyou... Spring had flung off the arms so wasn't accepting any disc.

I was able to get the plates off without removing the screw and void sticker just took a little effort to put it back on but after doing all these steps (apart from removing the base of the case) my PS4 works perfectly

What I would do is I would get a three plastic cups and label the from 1-3 for each layers of the console then I would could down in reverse when I'm ready to put them back in place
Thank you so much for this video, I have a slim I just fixed the disc drive thanks to you, there was a dent in the metal shield as well as the metal cover on top of the disc drive, discs would not fit it and the disc drive sounded so bad, fixed the bend and it sounds much better and pulls in and reads discs now!

So I'm not sure if you encoutered this issue in another video but I managed to solve mine in the first PS4 you opened here. I replaced the thermal compound on my PS4 and in the process dropped some pieces I was unsure about. Two were the silver tab between the metal shroud and metal plate on the disc drive, the other was the metal piece for using the vertical mount. The last piece was a small spring. I reassembled to test and while I could eject a disc, I couldn't put it in. Turns out the spring at the top center of the drive plate that connects to the black arms popped off. Hopefully you can cover this topic sometime if it hasn't come up. Thanks for all the vids, it would have taken way longer to figure that spring out without them!

Not directly related to this video Steve but 2 PS4 issues you may have solutions for. 1) Error code ce-30391-6. This error shows when trying to load a game, logs me out and I have to log back in.. 2) PS4 Pro randomly freezes and turns off. I all ways get a message about too many USB being connected (there are none connected) before it turns off. Look forward to a reply and love the channel - Paul
Took my pro to a local repair place with the USB issue and they said the mother board was shot. Got Sony to sort it and it cost me £180 and they never said what the problem was.

Replacing a laser pick up .... a very common job back in mid 90s in AIWA and many nother Mini systems. Lasers keep going bad. But you could buy the whole carriage with spindle if you wanted. Appart from Sony, Technics ... in many cheapo systems they were a consumible part.
for those plastic weld your pushing back in when reinstaling the cover over the disc drive. i used to take a soldering iron and warm them up and use an old bic pen tube and weld it back together. very rudamentary and messy if not done right. but maybe food for thought. im sure you have a better way in mind
tip for the plastic tab bits, if you heat up the tip of a screwdriver with a lighter till its hot and touch it to melt the plastic a tiny bit it till hold it down.

I know you have done a PS4 external fan test to see if they did anything and it really didn't, I was wondering if you could do one of those videos on one of the vertical fan stands with controller charging built in. I took it apart to clean the fan for the first time ever and I ended up having an extra spring which was weird to me as I didn't take out any springs for a simple fan cleaning. Put it back together and found out it had trouble ejecting/entering disc's into and from the console. Took it apart yet again and tried to find where the spring was supposed to go. Couldn't have figured it out without this video. I put the spring back and works like a charm except it makes a little noise right before it takes the disc out, this noise is new but it's not concerning as it doesnt sound like grinding or anything hitting, its like a low whirr as if its trying to go backwards right before

Maybe...I don't fix PS3's though so I'm no expert on those. Sorry.
If it takes the disk in but wont spin it is likely the laser or the drive motor.
If it takes in Disks for a spin then its easy, it needs a new laser assembly.

Ya, it's annoying fixing them...screws are much better for repair but at least there's a way around the welds.

Anthony Moffa I always just put them in order of how i took them out. Than work backwards. Taking a video of all the screws goes a long way too.

Very nice. I had 1 slim that got pounded on and knocked the rollers out of place. fixed the rollers and bent the cover back and it works fine.

My PS4 slim got a complete cleaning she thanks you a lot lol. I wasn't using it anymore but now I might play Horizon

Would you use hot glue or maybe a 3D printing pen to repair the plastic hold down tabs

Hello, I've been watching a lot of your videos recently as I just discovered your channel. I know you have done a PS4 external fan test to see if they did anything and it really didn't, I was wondering if you could do one of those videos on one of the vertical fan stands with controller charging built in. I have looked just about everywhere and cannot find a video on those or one as in depth as yours are. Thank you, have a lovely day!
I took it apart to clean the fan for the first time ever and I ended up having an extra spring which was weird to me as I didn't take out any springs for a simple fan cleaning. Put it back together and found out it had trouble ejecting/entering disc's into and from the console. Took it apart yet again and tried to find where the spring was supposed to go. Couldn't have figured it out without this video. I put the spring back and works like a charm except it makes a little noise right before it takes the disc out, this noise is new but it's not concerning as it doesnt sound like grinding or anything hitting, its like a low whirr as if its trying to go backwards right before
