- Leaving work one Friday I noticed my drivers side window would not roll up once it was lowered all the way down. A broken large toothed zip tie that is utilized to raise and lower the window along a metal track is the culprit here. This is a $20 DIY demonstration on how to repair the issue yourself in about 2 hours so the window works properly again.
Thanks man. This is the best vid on the vette regulator replacement project. Most of the others are done with hand help phones or head mount cams. Makes them hard to watch.
Thanks! Hope your repair goes smooth and well. I learned early on to just use a tripod for as much as I can to avoid the shake. When I watch others with this affliction I simply navigate for that little white X in the red box before my eyeballs decide to pop out.
Thanks but you shouldn't speed up the hardest part
Perfect explanation. Thanks, need to do this in the spring.
thank you for the video man!! looking forward to watching more
Much appreciated Logan! It is just starting to get nice in my area so the C4 is about to come out of hibernation. More to come...
What size rivets and material did you use? Just trying to have everything to get it done in one shot. Thanks for the no BS vid!
I just selected a few from a small rivet assortment package I have, I'm thinking they were 1/8 diameter but it has been years so I could be mistaken.
Hi Dan...Great video...I need to replace my window ribbon on my driver's door on my '84 C4...Is there any way you could repost the entire video in regular speed ?...That would be great coz I plan on watching it step by step pausing and restarting the video as I go along...Thank you & much appreciated in advance...Dave
Hi Dave, even if the video was done in real time I don't think every last sequential step would be revealed. What I can do for you if you get started on it and you run into a snag, use your phone to take a quick video of where you're stuck and I will gladly offer my advice to get you back on track.
Thanks for the video!
Is there a place to order that metal track the ribbon slides on? Mine rusted bad and is why the original ribbon broke 😟
Nice custom speaker enclosures, never seen it,is it aftermarket, what brand ?
The panels are a custom one-off I made myself.
Thanks dan the man
Mine broke into a bunch of peices. Do you know how long or how many teeth are on the track?
Sorry I don't, I should have counted # of teeth for reference. I'd suggest drilling out the rivets to temporarily remove the bump stop at the long end of the track, put the regulator back in the door temporarily with the tape slightly cut down, lower the window down fully, mark the tape with a sharpie a tad shorter than the stop position, pull the regulator back out, cut the tape and rivet the end stop back on. Reinstall the regulator once again and check for proper movement up/down and the end of the tape does not hit that end stop with the window fully down or it will bind and break the tape.
@@diymakerdan thanks for the help!!
How did you get the window to stay up when you took the regulator assembly out
Tilted the window back and rested the bottom on the ledge of the door brace.
Dont be a dumbass
Where can I order this part ?
See Amazon & eBay
The allen head on mine just keeps spinning??
IIRC the round nut the Allen screws into has some notches on the backside and you may be able to use a flat blade screwdriver or such so it can hold it in place enough for the Allen screw to break loose.
What us custom about those panels
where can i order it
was that Opeth? And then there's Call of Kthulu but not the original Metallica version
It’s the excellent Call of Kthulu S&M version.
That background music doesn't help your video at all.
Dan that may have been the Least helpful video i ever watched
If you can’t figure it out with what was shown then this DIY is simply not for you. How's that for being helpful?
this just happened to me yesterday😡
Thanks for your video !
You bet!
