What I like about Petra was the fact that they're straight to the face, biblical. No confusion about their faith at least in the lyrics they wrote unlike other Christian bands. They're the Billy Graham of Christan music.
It breaks my heart to see that Petra fan base is decreasing by the day. Their music and message deserve to be remembered for ages.Just love this band and this formation in particular. Beyond Belief is my favorite.
Ya, its odd how a music form based on something everlasting quickly became so disposable yet music forms based on things so temporal are cherished as classics. A lot of this goes back to that weird thing that happened in the 90s when suddenly record labels were tanking and shell production companies were buying up companies like Benson and then those same companies just up and vanished. I dont know. Something VERY weird happened in the music biz across the board in the 90s and its never been explained adequately. Almost like there was an orchestrated, strategic crash. It massively affected the Christian music industry in ways no one talks about which makes me even more suspicious about what happened and why. I look at that as the last decade of the Christian music industry.
I am passing down their music to my children; my 19 year old and 6 year LOVE Petra, they will be able to relate with each message in their song... gospel centered.
I'm 21...grew up knowing who Petra was because my mom was a fan back in the day, but just in the last few months, my siblings and I have gotten into their music and are way bigger fans now than my mom ever was. It's not entirely decreasing. 😉
I only recently "discovered" Petra. Long story. Thrilled I will have the honor of seeing you guys in concert in Nov. 2023! Loved listening to this 3-yr.-old interview. What a history you guys have shared and you are still going. So fantastic! See you soon. 🤗
The lyrics from Bob Hartman have always be so Spiritually deep and prophetically accurate.i have to enjoy the messages for many years the continue to get the nourishnent even in 2024.
Absolutely my favorite Petra album and lineup. I'm a keyboard player in large part because of John Lawry. When most guys my age had posters of girls or guitar player, I had John Lawry posters. I bought a Lync LN-4 as an adult because of him. I learned to create guitar parts and leads because of him. We created a Christian Rock Band because of Petra. Our band came home in between 2 youth camps (4 hours each way back and forth) just to hear this album (Beyond Belief). Our guitar player's parents owned a Christian bookstore. So, when we arrived home in Houston, we drove straight to the store in the middle of the night, grabbed the cassette, slammed it into the first tiny boombox we could find and within seconds of hearing the first track, we were blown away. It was well worth the 4 hour drive home and back to camp just to hear that album on the day it came out. One amazing track after another. Then when Petra came to Houston, our band went together and just loved the concert. After Johnny and Bob did their individual "guitar" solos during the solo part of the concert, I leaned over to my guitar player and said, "I'm biased. So you tell me. Who did the better guitar solo. Bob the guitar player or John Lawry the keyboard player?" He said, "Oh for sure John the keyboard player!" Made my day. But obviously this lineup was about more than John Lawry. This was the best lineup of Petra ever IMHO. Although I am a fan of Greg X Volz w/ Petra too. And like one of them said in this video, a lot of things lined up for them on this album. The 5 of them, great songs, incredible production by the Elefante brothers, Josh McDowel, Christian Rock becoming more accepted, a surge of growth in youth groups around the country, a Beyond Belief movie, and more. It was an amazing time to be a teenager! The following year, I got to work stage crew for Petra at their Houston concert. Got to meet some of the guys. So down to earth and humble. Getting to sit next to Johnny on stage pre-concert while he tweaked his Korg A5 guitar processor for his keytar solo was one of my best teenage memories. And hanging with Ronnie Cates was so cool. He and I are closer in age so he was really relatable. Talking about in-ear monitors, his bass rig, and more. And something I'll never forget... during the concert, I would stand backstage next to the monitor engineer and you could hear the click track as plain as day coming from the monitors. Then I took 3 steps forward to front of stage to hear the house mix and the click was completely gone. I'd step back and forth a few times to enjoy that unique experience. Now with a click track in my in-ear monitors constantly playing, I sometimes wish I could sit and listen to the house mix as easily as I did that night LOL. The strong biblical lyrics of Petra's music are still buried in my subconscious to this day. I'll read a verse or chapter in the Bible and then a Petra song based on that bible passage will come up in my mind and begin to play. I never realized just how grounded in biblical passages that Petra's lyrics were until I was an adult. Godspeed Petra.... here's to hoping this lineup will do a Beyond Belief reunion tour!
The music is timeless and so very relevant!! This band has literally changed my life on so many levels. My husband Michael Jones was the first to have a Petra website called "A Guide to Petra". I actually met him on the site back in 98 and come to find out he lived in the very town I lived in. Our story is on the Petra Farewell Dvd. The rest as they say is history. We have two beautiful musical children! God is awesome! Thankful for these amazing men. They have impacted millions for Christ!! God bless you! We are still listening and we love you all!
Cat that is an awesome and inspiring testimony. I'm so glad you found this interview and you enjoyed it. God bless you and thanks. Be sure to check out the NEW lyric video for Undergroud. ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
This album saved me... It was so important when i was a kid. I LOVE LOVE this Petra line up. This is Petra to me, even though I've been a fan since the early 80's.
Someone gave me the cassette in 1990. It has been a source of inspiration over the years. Praise God. Thanks guys for serving God. And the music. Such a blessing. It was great to see the guys and their stories about their experiences on the road. I saw the beyond belief movie. It was really great.
Love Petra… watched and listened to their evolution from the beginning. Loved both Greg X and John S. They each brought the band to a unique place. BTW, that HAIR is “beyond belief!!”😂
The lyrics and sound of Petra is second to none. I grew up listening to their songs and the lyrics helped shape my faith. I finally met them backstage on 06.07.13 in Brooklyn Park, MN, Living Word Christian Center and got my Ibanez RG570 guitar signed by them! Sadly, some of their signatures rubbed off from use for leading church worship.
I agree. But every lineup. Has Bob so its always top shelf material. Thats the key . Material = success and they were like a bible study, rock out, praise, all of it.
The best Christian band ever. Petra's songs bring me back lots of memories. The Brazilian people enjoyed this band, I had a chance to speak with Rony Cates and tell him that I had a friend that his dream was to meet the Petras integrants, unfortunately, he passed away but I'm sure one day we will all meet in heaven, I guarantee he was Peters's number one fan here in Brazil.
have you seen this NEW lyric video for the Petra song Underground from Beyond Belief? This deep cut needs to be brought to the forefront even 31 years later. What do you think? ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
Most probably the best Christian band and album ever. Saw them once here in Sweden 1991, unfortunately got sick and threw up on my way to the concert but made it there and it was still a great memory!
I would pay to see these guys do a concert again. I'm 21, so I never got a chance to see them, but I love these guys, their ministry, and music so much.
2 minutes in and I am just in shock that I am watching this! This WAS AND IS the BEST line up of Petra! I still remember buying Unseen Power when I was 12 years old at a Christian Bookstore in Whittier, California, and I still have that very CD 30 years later. THANKYOU PETRA for giving me such wonderful memories! PLEASE COME BACK! I never did see the Classic 5 in action, it wasn't until 1997 when I did see Petra for the first time but it was with Chapin, Brandow and Orta (nothing against them btw). BUT I did see the Farewell Tour in Roseburg, Oregon in 05 with my Grandma, and it was nice seeing Hartman up on stage right in front of my. BTW My Grandma LOVED the song Dance!
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 thanks for making this interview possible! Petra was THE band that introduced me to Christian rock. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Heck I still vividly remember watching Pete Orta playing Judas' Kiss, or Lonnie Chapin jumping off the speakers. I still remember where I was the first time I heard Unseen Power. Petra even introduced me to Third Day, and that back in 1996! Dang I am old! All wonderful memories. Thanks again!
Petra was the first exposure I ever had to Christian rock music. I lived in a smaller town in West Texas and they came and sang at what was then called Life unlimited Church. The adults were freaking out and the younger generation was digging it! I've been a Petra fan ever since.
We recently introduced Petra to our kids and they got hooked! 😄👏👏 🔊 Their music 🎶 is so uplifting and the lyrics are amazing! The atmosphere in the house shifts when we play Petra. There's such joy and anointing on these songs! Praise the Lord! 🙌🛐 ❤ So thankful!
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 Yes, I listened to this entire interview. Thank you for bringing them together. It was very interesting! Would love to see them reunite for a performance. 👍👍
Louie Weaver changed my life when I saw that he could play the snot out of a drum kit and still cry in the presence of the Holy One. Thank you, my friend!
In 1983, when I was six years old, my teenage sisters gave my twin brother and me Petra's More Power To Ya album. It was our introduction to Petra and Christian Rock Music, and we were hooked. It's a credit to my sisters for setting us on a path to be influenced by the music we listened to, and to this day in adulthood, my brother and I can honestly say the overwhelming majority of music we listen to is still Christian Contemporary. We were super fans and every birthday or Christmas one of the presents we got was Petra's new album (first in LPs, then cassettes, then CDs.) I definitely will say, Petra influenced me to accept Christ at eight years old and throughout my teen years as I grew in my faith and walk with Christ. Beyond Belief was an awesome album. A friend of mine was actually with Teen Mania the summer when Petra met up with them. He said, "I was expecting Super Star egos, but they were digging ditches, picking up trash, cleaning, moving things with us, and more. Stuff you wouldn't expect. They didn't mind getting their hands dirty. They were just five regular guys being used by God." My friend was actually in the "Armed & Dangerous" video in the shot of kids on the bus. This interview brings back so many great times in my youth singing along/praising God with Petra in my bedroom, and later my car. Thank you guys for ministering to me, and thank you Lord for using these men to do your work!
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 Thank you for doing it. It was like I was part of the conversation. I was rocking out, singing along, and enjoying the pictures. You even had the movie. Their stories were great, and hilarious. I was busting a gut for sure. To quote a Veggie Tales video, "I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob." Thanks, again.
Oh yes ! Best christian band of all time ! And i am okay to say that the best line-up was from "Back to the street" until "Unseen power" including Mark Kelly. I have all the albums of the band (I miss only "Petra" (1974) and "Come and join us" (1977) impossible for me to find them in Europe). I starded to listen with "Captured in time and space" with Greg, i was 13 years old in 1985 and Petra became my favorite band on that time, until today. Thank you Petra for you music, your professionalism and your faith ! I want to finish with that : "I have a thankfull heart that you have given me the opportunity listenning to Petra" 👍 SHALOM
Bob was always my hero as a guitar player. His ability to bend his style to fit perfectly around whatever genre Petra doing at the time is on a level many guitarists only dream about. From the early 70s days with his more blues based style to later in the with the 80s synth laden albums, and then into the harder edged records produced by the Elefante brothers of the 90s Bob reinvented himself so many times. I remember growing up in the 90s thinking that to be the best guitarist I could be I would have to emulated Bob and prepare myself for whatever music I was needed to play. Instead of just playing my way I would need to learn how to serve the song. On top of all of that Bob was a songwriting savant. Every song was lyrically powerful and he never had a throw away song. It always felt as though Petra was his ministry and he wanted it to be the absolute best he could be and it shows in every word and every note. I can't say enough about how much they influenced me over the years. It would be impossible to write all the ways they have touched so many musicians. So all I can say is as for me without hearing Petra my musical journey would have turned out differently.
I love Petra! I was a fan back in the 80’s and I still find their music to be influential in the development of my faith. Even when I went astray for nearly 30 years it was Petra’s music that help bring me back to Jesus Christ. Their lyrics are biblical and musicianship are top notch! What a great interview too!
Wow. God bless these guys. I had the luck to see them here in Mexico National Auditorium in 1993 with the Unseen Power tour, what an incredible experience. Thank you very much for such a wonderful lyrics and music…. ¡¡¡Petra still rocks my world!!!

I was at summer camp right after Beyond Belief was released and I didn't know it was out yet. The whole camp was gathered and there were a bunch of little competitions going on, and one of them was musical chairs and they used the song Beyond Belief as the song and none of us had heard it yet and were blown away. The first thing I did when I got home from camp was get a copy. Wore that cassette out.
what a great story. I suspect many people woe that cassette out. Be sure to see the new lyric video for Underground. ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
I went to the Beyond Belief concert and decided that I wanted to play bass guitar. Ronny's basslines taught me how to lock up with the drummer and play for the song. Seeing him play those Kubiki and Peavey basses brings back the memories.
Petra was a major part of my upbringing/high school in the late '80s. Their music got me through my pastoral education during the '90s. I saw them in concert fourteen times from "Back to the Street" to "God Fixation." To this day, I am constantly listening Petra, Stryper, White Heart, D & K, Guardian, Idle Cure, White Cross, Zion, and so! One of my favorite concert memories is the "On Fire" fall tour of 1989. It was the first leg of the "Why Wait" tour with Josh McDowell. In late October, Petra played in the Kellogg Area, Battle Creek, Michigan (Josh is from Union City, just south of B.C.). A buddy of mine and I got tickets in the right section, third row, the first two aisle seats. The concert started as the lights went out and the cry of "Fired Up!" The two of us rushed to the front of the stage, to the left of Uncle Bob's place on the stage. We were hoping to get Louie Weaver's drumsticks at the end of the show. Within seconds, hundreds from the crowd were upfront singing in unison the lyrics of every song! It was an amazing night of worship! I lost my voice! At the end of the show, Louie didn't bring his sticks with him, but we got to shake everyone's hand! I was blessed to receive something that is nearly as great as Louie's drumsticks! John Schlitt gave me his towel!!! A few years later, the Battle Creek Youth for Christ had Schlitt for the "Shake" tour. It was early February of 1995, just after Schlitt's birthday (Feb 03), about five hundred or so fans were present. Basically, John had a mini "Beyond Belief" tour while singing other Petra songs along with music from his first sole album. After the show, John signed autographs with Jim Cooper. I waited until the end to meet John. The handful of fans still there sang "Happy Birthday" to him. I presented John the towel he gave me five years earlier; I quickly told him the story of how he gave me the towel at the end of that concert. John was smiling the entire time as I told the story. He signed his life verse (Gal. 5:22-25) on the towel. Ron, I am sure Petra has unreleased songs in a vault somewhere. Hartman has stated there was material for "Beat the System" that never made the album. Could you contact Bob about Petra releasing an album of material that never made it on an actual album? Or at least put it on his website for fans to download. Thank you for interviewing the band! I pray I can meet Uncle Bob in person someday. I want to thank him for being faithful to God's plan for Petra in light of what he and the various members of Petra endured to minister to us for all these years! PETRA MEANS ROCK!
Hello Michael the truth is one portion of the UNedited interview was when I asked about UNreleased material. Apparently there is supposed to be some Beyond Belief material that hopefully will see the light of day. If that happens I will inform you all especially if you are on of my subscribers. I am genuinely touched my interview is making such an impact with all you fans. God bless. Please make sure to share this interview with other fans. Thanks.
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 Thank you for the info. I am sure there is unreleased material for several albums that never made it on an album for the band. The core Petrafied fan base would love to have it to praise Christ with! I hope Bob has some legal control to release these songs to the fans some day! Petrafied & Strype[r]d Twice: Gal. 2:20.
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 What I would love to see is Petra and Stryper touring together at some point! Now--that would be a tour I would travel a great distance to see several times! Petrafied & Strype[r]d Twice: Gal. 2:20
Petra was the 1st Gospel band I've listened when I gave my life to The Lord. I've been blessed and I am still blessed by their songs. May God bless them 🙏🙏🙏
Who's here after listening to the "On Rock - A Petraspective" podcast??? I am so blessed to have watched this interview. This lineup was certainly the dream team. Whilst every note and beat from Behind Belief is so engrained in me, it's part of my DNA, I think Unseen Power has the most special place in my heart as an album that helped me to determine my steps and trajectory for my adult life. And while I never had the opportunity to see the band live (I'm from Australia, but grew up in Tasmania during that time period), but i feel like this interview is as close as you could ever get to meeting the guys without actually meeting them in the flesh. God bless you all and may you continue to live long and healthy lives in Jesus' name.
Thank you s much for your heartfelt and kind words. I am truly blessed by them and thank the god Lord you were blessed by finding his interview and bringing you a bit closer to the guys in Petra.

By the way, Evelyn, the potato lady, is my best friend!! We became friends after discovering we both love Petra!!!
I vividly remember Growing up listening to Petra absolutely delighted and to see them together still sharing the same brotherly bond and humour 😊 plus happy and healthy till date is Such a joy and blessing,May God bless them and keep them safe🙏...Petra still remains my fav. Christian rock band.
Fabulous band!! A key group in my youth. Such powerful lyrics and original sound. Changed my life I just recently found some old vinyls of older albums and looking forward to finding this one too. Thank you for sharing this interview so I could finally feel more connected to them as individuals. May God bless you all in a mighty way for blessing and speaking to us through music
If the guys happen to read this comment, we need you guys more now than ever. We need uncompromising driven lyrics like you wrote, we need conviction in songs like your songs have. Come out of retirement guys. The Christian world needs you!!
PETRA the best Christian Rock band of all time. Period ! PETRA is the reason why I'm still a believer in Jesus today 2021. They have such an impact on me since 1993. The first song I listened to was 'CREED'. Since the first day I heard that song it changed my life to know that there are Christian Bands out there. So I searched everywhere. But even after listening to several other bands I ALWAYS come back to PETRA. This band is such, such an inspiration to me and my friends esp. during high school days. On this note, I would like to honor and thank BOB HARTMAN for the humility that you have shown throughout your ministry. Indeed, GOD's favor is on you. You are such a very immaculate song writer. You wrote songs that truly reflects God's heart and Grace for humanity. To all band members- you all don't know how much you mean to me. ONLY GOD knows how much my life has been changed because of your commitment and dedication to this project. You indeed have preached the Gospel to the 'ends of the earth' because I'm writing this from the SOLOMON ISLANDS (SI). I love you guys and since 1993 I'm still believing GOD to meet ALL of you or one of you soon before our time on earth is through. I'm literally crying when I'm writing this guys...you're all such a bunch of JESUS freaks and I love you all. Peace out from the SI.
QUE LINDO ES VOLVER A VER ESTA FORMACIÓN DE PETRA QUE ES UNA DE MIS BANDAS CRISTIANAS FAVORITAS, SALUDOS Y MUCHAS BENDICIONES DESDE BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
The best band in Christian music history and the best album full stop. Thank you for getting this to us, a real blessing to be inspired again by these great people. I wish they'd release a concert video from material recorded during that period. Especially for those of us who never saw them live.
Jesus Northwest 1991. I won’t forget seeing you there John. That’s because I started dating my wife of 28 years there. May God continue to bless you guys.

Saskatoon? Now thats a BIG city. I'm getting old..but John Schlitt came to Caronport....now was it with the full band....I can't remember! But it was the Beyond Belief album.
So much of the best of me; the power and consistency of my relationship with Christ came; in part; from the anointed lyrics and truly inspired music of Petra. Almost from the first album to the last, your music made me able to stand for truth, holiness, and solidified my Christian faith. I thank God for all of you; every single one.
Got to see my first ever concert in October 88 This Means war! Second memory, won a radio call in show and still have John Schlitt's autographed CD of Beyond Belief!
Wow I’m so in awe of what Bob Hartman is saying because I was that high school student who’s faith was being stablished. I would get away from the mob at school and sit out in the field listening to Petra. I made the greatest decision to follow Chist. Amen 🙏🏽 Petra has been to me a turning point, when I’m struggling in life I always get away, find a quiet place and listen to the Petra records that influenced my early days. It always brings back good memories and stirs something good in me. Thank you Bob for such great ministry ❤️

When I first got saved as a teenager in 1985, I “knew” 100% that Christian rock was of the devil. After a few years, I fell into some prodigal years. My cousin began leading a youth group and she gave me the Beyond Belief cassette and God had my number from the opening song all the way through. Between Petra and Stryper, God reeled me in and I bent my knee to serve the Lord and I haven’t looked back since. Praise God! Thank you for getting this together and sharing it! This brought back some amazing memories 😊❤️
Beyond belief album was the first music in my life that impacted me so powerfully that the changes it produced are why I am who I am and what I’m doing in life...anytime I veer off the path or have gone astray, reading my bible and listening to Petra always brings me back to a sound mind. This band gave me biblical truth coupled with great rockin music which became a foundation and passion in my life to serve our Father in all that I do but especially in the talents he’s given me in music, which led me to this point and my role in worship and place in life. Thank you Bob, John, Ronnie, Louie and John for all of it. You gave a farm kid from northern Indiana a passion deep down in his soul to serve the Lord with music and it’s been a humbling and an amazing journey to this point. I would love to see you play live again!! My kids’ favorite song-Fired Up!! It would be awesome to see that played now...just a suggestion, instead of a full blown gig, why couldn’t you film a smaller get together since all of this covid stuff? Korn did something like this and it was good. Everyone wants to see you guys play again Bob!...put out some RUclips stuff and you’ll see. With much gratitude and brotherly love for you guys-thank you.
Unfortunately this was one concert tour I missed. I did see the On Fire tour and Josh McDowell was with them. I remember that morning praying for good weather (it turned out beautiful). I also prayed for at least 1,000 people being saved. People were coming out of the woodwork. That was the first time that a prayer that I asked was answered yes.
A friend of mine told me that Petra was the Van Halen of Christian Rock music as far as popularity was concerned. They were the reason I'm still a Christian today. Their music AND ministry will stand the test of time.
Beyond Belief is the album that got me saved so it's very special to me. This is the primo Petra lineup for me. I don'' care about another show, I want to hear one last Petra album with these guys!
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 I now have my BB album signed by Schlitt. It's a dream to finish this or get close. Do you know a way to contact at least Hartman (if not any of the others) to see if I can mail this somewhere to get it signed by him or any others? I'm running out of options. Thanks!

@@ronroxtarmedia1846 Petra is my favorite Christian group. Saw them in 90 @ Williams-Brice stadium and in 92 @ Hickory Grove in Charlotte. Thank you again for doing this! I would love to see if you could wrangle up Mylon LeFevre & Broken Heart. Mylon was made wealthy when Elvis recorded his hymn "Without Him." So much love for this band, these guys and this interview. A joyful hour celebrating one of the greatest albums of all time 30 years later and giving all the glory to God!
Get away from me! That was so funny to hear. I'm probably one of the few black fans. Though I'm now more conservative than I was back then, I still love this band and Beyond Belief.
Regina thanks so much for your comment. The 'Ge away from me' story is always my favourite in this interview. Petra and the word of God appeals to all as you well know. God bless you and thanks for watching.
Greetings from a fellow Black Petra fan! Grew up listening to them starting with the "More power to ya" album. The older I get, the more I appreciate that band. They really were pioneers and innovators. Christian music owes them a huge debt of gratitude.
Gracias por esta entrevista... y sería una excelente idea... estuve en el concierto en Bogotá y aunque no fue específicamente de Beyond Believe, fue algo fuera de serie... espectacular. Dios los siga bendiciendo.
Same here! I saw them at the Castle at Disney's "Night of Joy!" and they have influenced my walk all this time, halleluYAH!! Can't wait to meet them in person...soon it seems.
Thank you sir for this. Petra are my favorite Christian Band and I got to see them twice when they came to Melbourne Australia and hopefully they can come to Australia this year for there 50year ANAVERSERY. God bless you. Take care. 😀🙏❤👍
The First time I saw Petra was 1981 the Not of this world tour in Yankton South Dakota at the Yankton College. It was a small crowd and we got to meet and talk with all of the band after the show. I loved talking with Bob Hartman and have kept in touch over the years.
I agree that the guitar solo on that song is just epic - perfect example of Bob's skills, the first time I heard it it just resonated with me, and still makes me realise how good Bob is, (and how I'm not!)
Great video upload. I was in high school when On Fire came out. My first exposure to Petra. My first real Christian ROCK concert. And by far, still the best. From the musicianship to the spirit of worship, unparalleled and unmatched. Yes, this is the best line up.
Great to see this interview. I remember seeing this Petra line up in Manchester in the UK in the 90s. Was so great that a Christian American band came over to tour the UK! it was an awesome night hearing John sing. Creed is definitely my favourite song on this album.
After some research. this was 11 May 1995 at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on their Wake Up Call tour. I also saw them again the following year in Oct 1995 for No Doubt tour which lists the venue as Aston Villa leisure centre although I thought it was somewhere in the north of England. Maybe other UK fans will remember ?? 😀😂
I was looking for the album Not of this world to listen Disciple (from More Power to Ya) on Spotify. And there comes Bob Hartman saying that he didn't remember Love was a Beyond Belief song 😂😂 I'm feeling so relieved 😇
One of my all time favorite albums. Secular or Christian. The songs are extra special because of challenges I was facing when it came out, so the songs are part of my soul.
Petra's "Beyond Belief" album is my FAVORITE Album of ALL TIME!!! At Mr. Schlitt's "Shake" tour, in Salem, Oregon, Mr. Schlitt read my testimony ("Notes" part of my "Facebook" Profile) to the audience (After he gave his "Miracle Story"!) & Sang "Creed" dedicated to me (I told him in my letter that "Creed" IS the BEST Song I've EVER Heard & Mr. Louie Weaver is the BEST Drummer I've Ever Seen!!!) "Beyond Belief" has my Favorite "Slow" Song I've Ever Heard also > "Love" !!! NO ALBUM WILL EVER TOP "BEYOND BELIEF" ALBUM !!!!!!!
As a fan of Petra's ministry and music since 1983 when I first saw them in concert, till today, I really enjoyed this immensely. Thank you for coordinating this and getting the guys together. What a blessing to my soul.
Words do not describe the impact that this particular line up did for me. Beyond belief is an extremely powerful album the armed and dangerous sets the record off with a bang giving you the strength to wave the flag for Jesus then segues into I am on the rock with the perfect tempo and face melting riffs catapulting you even higher in your strength for the cause.. without the keyboard setting the tone underneath that sweet Signature guitar solo that plays during the hey hey part it would not be the same. Everything strategically put together perfectly and then comes creed. I will never forget when that keyboard starts and John's voice comes in "I believe in God the father" !! I Got chills down my spine and my body instantly fills with goosebumps. Talk about powerful! Love is such an anthem with beautiful choir and lyrical truths. The title track is a perfect rock pop song with great musicality contributes from each member. By this point one will say to themselves " this is a HUGE album" but it's not even halfway through. undergrounds message is so needed and the song is quite progressive too! Seen and not heard has awsome guitar and keys together with straight forward rocking out drums and once again a great message. "Theres Too much talk and not enough walk".....makes you start to think a little about yourself and how you don't want to be one of those people lol! Last days is so good! These lyrics are more and more true every year that goes by and that break down in the bridge with the haunting keys and that bass line that sirens into a feisty guitar solo is perfect!! What's in a name is so powerful. "There is power and glory, forever and ever"!!!! Very sonically pleasing to the ears with Bob's clean guitar during the verse and the bass and drums stocking together while John phrases his vocals and you hear them double towards the end giving it a catapult into a sea of vocal textures! Prayer ends the record with an honest plea to God for strength and favor along with sheer courage to be a beacon for him and a light in the darkness. The piano patch chosen is now considered timeless and even more epic is the keybord bass under it in the choruses andlayering patches in the bridge. Beautiful just Beautiful! Thanks Petra for being diligent followers of christ and getting together with all of your talents to make this masterpiece!! May God continue to Bless each one of you!!
WOW Joel!!! I agree with all that you said. Even more so I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. be sure to share it around and may it bless many others. God bless you brother.
What I like about Petra was the fact that they're straight to the face, biblical. No confusion about their faith at least in the lyrics they wrote unlike other Christian bands. They're the Billy Graham of Christan music.
Thank you so much for your commets. Be sure to share this video and God bless.
Gostei da colocação.
It breaks my heart to see that Petra fan base is decreasing by the day. Their music and message deserve to be remembered for ages.Just love this band and this formation in particular. Beyond Belief is my favorite.
That's why I did this interview to bring them back into the spotlight and with this album. God bless.
Their music will last for ages when secular music popular now will be a thing of the past
Happy you discovered them at some point. Enjoy the concert and be blessed.
Legends, Bob hartmans one of the most underrated guitarist, lyricist, composer of all time. 👍👍
You know it!!!
The lyrics from Bob Hartman have always be so Spiritually deep and prophetically accurate.i have to enjoy the messages for many years the continue to get the nourishnent even in 2024.
God bless and glad you enjoyed the interview.
Yo literal crecí escuchando a petra 😍🤗 fue una gran influencia para mi y sus canciones me ayudaron muchos en tiempos difíciles 🤗
Petra never compromised lyrics for popularity. The Lord honours those who owner Him. There will NEVER be another Petra.
Godspeed Petra.... here's to hoping this lineup will do a Beyond Belief reunion tour!
wow. Loved your story and glad you enjoyed my interview with the dream team. Yes let's hope ofr a reunion tour.

"The older we get the better we used to be" Bob Hartman.... that's funny stuff! 😆
Thank you for enjoying this (Funny) interview.

Nice message Jonathan. Yes for many this line up IS the ONLY true Petra line-up. God bless.
Someone gave me the cassette in 1990. It has been a source of inspiration over the years. Praise God. Thanks guys for serving God. And the music. Such a blessing. It was great to see the guys and their stories about their experiences on the road. I saw the beyond belief movie. It was really great.
Thank you.
Agree! When you heared the first song you are hooked for the rest of your life!
@@kathymartin7724 glad my interview brought back so many memories.
Best hour of media consumption for the entire week. Thanks!
Thank you so much for those kind and inspiring words. God bless you .
Love Petra… watched and listened to their evolution from the beginning. Loved both Greg X and John S. They each brought the band to a unique place.
BTW, that HAIR is “beyond belief!!”😂
thanks for watching.
Can you imagine Heaven? How many people will be there because of their ministry?
Lots and lots.
Glad their music has touched your life. God bless.
Ish my favorite gospel band God bless the band thanks this video ron I am from Shillong in India 🙏👍💟
The best line up of PETRA, may be one day we have the joy to see this line up live again, to God nothing its impossible.
Thanks Sebastian for your comment. Please make sure to share this video with all the Petra fans and friends you know.
Some of them have joined up with Whiteheart. Union of Sinners and Saints. But I can't wait for Heaven and them joining the angels.
Amen!
Thank you so much for your comment. Please make sure to share this with all Petra fans in Brazil and elsewhere. God bless.

This was the time when i became a christian, and my first christian rock album in cassette tape. Beyond belief still rocks to this day
so glad to hear that.Yes you are right.
have you seen this NEW lyric video for the Petra song Underground from Beyond Belief? This deep cut needs to be brought to the forefront even 31 years later. What do you think? ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
Most probably the best Christian band and album ever. Saw them once here in Sweden 1991, unfortunately got sick and threw up on my way to the concert but made it there and it was still a great memory!
Glad you at least got to see them Erik. God bless and hope you are feeling much better after all those years.
I would pay to see these guys do a concert again. I'm 21, so I never got a chance to see them, but I love these guys, their ministry, and music so much.
Thanks so much for the comment, Kaitlyn. Let's see if we can get the guys to do a show.
Petra was one of the kind. We will never have another band like this.
You are totally right. Please do what you can to share this video with everyone you can. God bless.
Tecker Video I am so glad you were touched by this interview 2 minutes in. God bless you and thanks for watching.
So glad you still are.

Louie Weaver changed my life when I saw that he could play the snot out of a drum kit and still cry in the presence of the Holy One. Thank you, my friend!
so glad you are still blessed with thiese memories.
So glad this interview was a blessing to you. God bless.
Praise God for petra band
thanks for watching and yes oyu are right.
Every Petra album John and Dino Elefante touched sounded epic. They really pushed that superior mix...especially with the guitar tone.
you are totally right. thanks for watching.
I want to finish with that : "I have a thankfull heart that you have given me the opportunity listenning to Petra" 👍
SHALOM
Thanks for all your wonderful comments. Glad Bob was an inspiration to you and millins others. God bles.
Thank you so much.
In 1991 I had cancer and spent 6-8 hours a day taking chemotherapy. This album Beyond Belief helped me get through it.

@@ronroxtarmedia1846 Thank you for the info. I am sure there is unreleased material for several albums that never made it on an album for the band. The core Petrafied fan base would love to have it to praise Christ with! I hope Bob has some legal control to release these songs to the fans some day!

Thank you so much ad God bless you.

JP thanks for sharing your great memory.
What an amazing interview. I’m such a huge Petra fan. I loved hearing the funny stories. Bob telling John “get away from me!” 😂🤣😂🤣
yes the Ger away from me story was hilarious. Glad you enjoyed it.
have you seen this NEW lyric video for the Petra song Underground from Beyond Belief? This deep cut needs to be brought to the forefront even 31 years later. What do you think? ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
Hey boys :) So strong of a message ... John is absolutely a vessel. Beyond believe is AMAZING... Bob's vision .. So honored to listen LOVE
Glad you enjoyed it.
Love this band, and love this record! I'm a child of the 80's, and Petra is still one of my go-to bands! Thanks for this interview! So many memories brought back.
Glad you enjoyed it and God bless.
This album really was instrumental in getting me through my youth... God worked through these guys in so many lives.

i have grown up listening to petra since middle school boy and i.m still remembering looking for your rare items and legendary cds in several recordshops in korea .. your lyrics are really based on biblical and i really love it. when im down i read it and pray.. thank you guys..
Thanks, for watching and God bless.
By the grace of God, I pray these guys can get the sponsorship they need to play again. Even better, would be a North American Tour (come up to Canada!!!!). I wish my kids could have experienced Petra and other bands like I did in the 80's and 90's!!! Those were truly blessed times. I've seen Petra 4 times in Alberta back in the day! Thank you Ron for putting this interview together!! Seeing the dream team together on screen brought tears to my eyes, they have made such an impact on millions of people!
wow. Thank you so much for your heartfelt kind words. You are very welcome and I am touched and inspired by your reaction. Yes let's hope a sponsorship comes onboard for them. it's also nice to see a fellow Canadian writing here. God bless.
ParklandFilms YES! Come to Canada! Saskatoon wink wink*
@@wheelzwheela good idea.
Great stuff. Love to hear it. God bless.
Thanks so much for a wonderful and powerful testimony. I'm glad their music and ministry had such a profound effect on your life. God bless. be sure to check out the NEW lyric video for Underground. ruclips.net/video/w4coQVOT01c/видео.html
Thanks for your testimony Jose. God bless. I was happy to get this together for you.
Oh my goodness I remember Stryper! They were another great Christian band.
@@wifeoftim they’re still around. Making new music and touring. You should look them up on social media 👍🏻
So the devil's music saved you? I am confused.
Thanks for sharing. .
Beyond Belief is the album that got me saved so it's very special to me. This is the primo Petra lineup for me. I don'' care about another show, I want to hear one last Petra album with these guys!
So glad to hear how important this album was for you. That is a great idea you have for one more album from these guys.
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 I now have my BB album signed by Schlitt. It's a dream to finish this or get close. Do you know a way to contact at least Hartman (if not any of the others) to see if I can mail this somewhere to get it signed by him or any others? I'm running out of options. Thanks!
@@overkast6841 They are doing occasional shows and are usually open to meeting fans.
@@ronroxtarmedia1846 I do know about those. All of those are down south or east and I am in the northwest where they won’t be coming. I just sent something to a couple of Whiteheart guys to get signed so I was hoping to find a way to at least get in contact with Hartman. 🙂
2021 and still rooting for you all. Love from India. I remember the cassette I used to buy all of them as soon as it comes out. It's true it's just like yesterday and but it long time back. But everyone dreamt of serving the LORD like you did. Lots have been blessed by your music. Oh man... I could go on and on...May GOD our GOD bless you all in HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
Thank you, Sodo and God bless you.
Guys you are the Best 5 of this band. God bless you Boys

Too cool to see this!!! Beyond Belief is the first music I remember hearing and knowing as a kid! As a 35 year old classical musician I still retain my love for Petra and this album!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Matthew. God bless.

Mylon was made wealthy when Elvis recorded his hymn "Without Him." He then left his southern gospel family to get into rock and was part of the Atlanta Rhythm Section for awhile before jumping into Christian contemporary music.
So much love for this band, these guys and this interview. A joyful hour celebrating one of the greatest albums of all time 30 years later and giving all the glory to God!
Thank you so much for your comment. Glad you were blessed and loved the interview. The guys were pretty funny too.
@@kimsteel366 great to hear from you ad yes you are totally right. God bless.
Gracias por esta entrevista... y sería una excelente idea... estuve en el concierto en Bogotá y aunque no fue específicamente de Beyond Believe, fue algo fuera de serie... espectacular. Dios los siga bendiciendo.

good to see Petra again still looking as young as ever
I just love these guys I have no words to express myself how important they are to me!!! Thanks a lot for this!!
you are very welcome. Glad you were blessed by it.
It would be amazing if they did an anniversary tour beyond belief album Petra has been my favorite band for many years
Pray for it brother.
I was blessed to see them on that tour, Petra played a big part in my walk when I first came to faith. They will always be my favorite band.
so glad to hear that. God bless.

Take care. 😀🙏❤👍
Thanks for watching. God bless you. Hope Petra gets to Melbourne again.
The First time I saw Petra was 1981 the Not of this world tour in Yankton South Dakota at the Yankton College. It was a small crowd and we got to meet and talk with all of the band after the show. I loved talking with Bob Hartman and have kept in touch over the years.
Love stories like yours. God bless.
best song on the album is the vastly underrated “Last Daze”
I included the instrumental break at the end credits. We had brought up Last Daze but it ended up being edited out. It is a great song
I agree that the guitar solo on that song is just epic - perfect example of Bob's skills, the first time I heard it it just resonated with me, and still makes me realise how good Bob is, (and how I'm not!)
The lyrics are so relevant!!
Their last album was my favorite, with Jeckyl and hyde, its like they finally hit a heavy rock side, and then they retired lol
I totally agree with you that it was a great album.
Great video upload. I was in high school when On Fire came out. My first exposure to Petra. My first real Christian ROCK concert. And by far, still the best. From the musicianship to the spirit of worship, unparalleled and unmatched. Yes, this is the best line up.
Thank 6ou so much for your kind words.
I love this interview!
Thank you so much. Please make sure to share it with others. God bless you.
My husband and I listened to this live. We really enjoyed it.
So glad you could relive it.
Thank you Lord Jesus for giving us Petra!!!!
Absolutely.
This is awesome! To see my heroes of christian rock music is so cool. Legends! Long live Petra!
Thanks so much for enjoying it. Be sure to share it with others.
Great to see this interview. I remember seeing this Petra line up in Manchester in the UK in the 90s. Was so great that a Christian American band came over to tour the UK! it was an awesome night hearing John sing. Creed is definitely my favourite song on this album.
Thank u for watching ad remembering Deborah.
@@deborahn1144 I'm glad your memories keep popping up. God bless.
Thank u for your ]comment. God bless.
Reminds of Petra in Shillong 2004 11 th November Thanks all of you guys, God bless us all concerned in Jesus Christ Name Amen.
NO ALBUM WILL EVER TOP "BEYOND BELIEF" ALBUM !!!!!!!
wow. Great comments about a great album. You are right nothing can ever top Beyond Belief!!!
As a fan of Petra's ministry and music since 1983 when I first saw them in concert, till today, I really enjoyed this immensely. Thank you for coordinating this and getting the guys together. What a blessing to my soul.

Petra Means Rock 2020
yes they certainly do. Thanks Eduardo for your comment. Please share this with all Petra fans!
I sang "Prayer" in church one morning. Let's just say . . . the congregation preferred my preaching. :-(
